Connect the GameSir G7 Pro 8K to a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC by USB-C, the included 2.4 GHz receiver, or Bluetooth. For the receiver, switch the controller to Receiver mode, press Home, plug in the dongle, and wait for a solid Home light. Install GameSir Connect only if you want firmware updates or tuning. The controller’s advertised 8,000 Hz polling mode works on PC over wired and 2.4 GHz connections, but it is a supported maximum rather than a promise that every utility will report exactly 8,000 Hz.
What you need before connecting
The G7 Pro 8K supports Windows 10 and Windows 11 through three PC connection methods. Decide which one fits your setup before pressing buttons:
| Connection | What you need | How it connects | 8,000 Hz polling claim |
|---|---|---|---|
| USB-C wired | The controller and its USB-C cable | Connect the cable directly to the PC | Supported on PC |
| 2.4 GHz receiver | The included wireless receiver and a free USB port | Put the controller in Receiver mode, then plug in the dongle | Supported on PC |
| Bluetooth | A Windows PC with Bluetooth | Select Bluetooth mode and pair in Windows | The 8,000 Hz claim does not apply to Bluetooth |
For the most predictable first setup, use the cable. It avoids wireless pairing and is also the recommended connection for firmware work in GameSir Connect. Use the receiver when you want wireless performance with the controller’s advertised high polling mode, and Bluetooth when convenience matters more than that mode.
Keep the official GameSir G7 Pro 8K PC manual available for the exact switch and button markings on your revision. Ordinary wired setup does not require a separate driver installation according to the manufacturer’s setup instructions.

How to connect the G7 Pro 8K by USB-C
- Turn on the PC and let Windows finish loading.
- Connect the USB-C end of the included cable to the controller.
- Connect the other end directly to a USB port on the PC. Avoid adding a hub during initial setup so that troubleshooting has fewer variables.
- Wait a few seconds for Windows to enumerate the controller. The controller should then be available to games and controller-testing utilities.
- Start a game and check its controller settings. If a game has multiple input-device options, select the GameSir controller or its standard gamepad entry.
No separate driver package is a prerequisite for this normal wired connection. If Windows does not detect the controller, move to the symptom-driven driver steps in the troubleshooting section rather than installing random driver-download utilities.
Quick Windows recognition check
Press Win+R, enter joy.cpl, and press Enter. Select the controller entry, choose Properties, and use the test page to check buttons and sticks. This confirms that Windows is receiving input before you troubleshoot a particular game. If the entry is absent, disconnect and reconnect the cable, try another direct USB port, and then follow the Device Manager procedure below.
How to pair the included 2.4 GHz receiver
The receiver method has two parts: putting the controller into Receiver mode and allowing the controller and dongle to pair. The Home light is the useful status signal; wait for it to become solid before launching a game.
- Move the controller’s connection switch to Receiver.
- Press the controller’s Home button.
- Insert the included 2.4 GHz receiver into a USB port on the PC.
- Wait for the controller’s Home light to turn solid. That indicates the wireless link is established.
- Open
joy.cplor a game’s controller menu and test an input.
The receiver can remain connected for later sessions. On subsequent uses, select Receiver mode and press Home; Windows should see the already-connected dongle once the controller reconnects.
If the receiver does not connect
First repeat the four steps above, checking that the switch is actually in Receiver rather than Bluetooth mode. If the Home light does not become solid, re-enter pairing mode:
- Leave the receiver plugged into the PC.
- Press the pairing button on the receiver.
- Press and hold the controller’s pairing button.
- Wait for the Home light to indicate a successful connection, then test the controller again.
The locations and labels of the pairing controls can vary by hardware revision, so use the illustrations in the official manual rather than guessing which button to hold. If pairing still fails, plug the receiver into a different direct USB port and temporarily remove hubs or other wireless adapters from the same path.
How to use Bluetooth on Windows
Bluetooth is the simplest cable-free option when your PC has working Bluetooth hardware. It is separate from the 2.4 GHz receiver mode, so changing the controller to Bluetooth mode is essential.

The manufacturer documents Bluetooth support for Windows, but its detailed pairing instructions focus on the receiver. If Windows does not show the controller, confirm that Bluetooth mode is selected, press Home again, remove an old controller entry from Windows, and repeat discovery.
Bluetooth is not the connection to choose for the advertised 8,000 Hz mode. GameSir specifies that high polling support is available on PC through USB-C and 2.4 GHz wireless.
Which connection should you choose?
USB-C is the best diagnostic starting point because it eliminates wireless pairing and gives GameSir Connect a direct path for firmware work. It is also practical for a desk setup where cable length is not a concern. The 2.4 GHz receiver is the most appropriate wireless choice when you want the advertised high-polling mode; it uses the included dongle and does not require your computer to have Bluetooth. Bluetooth is useful when you want to avoid the dongle or are using a laptop with built-in Bluetooth, but it is intended for general wireless play rather than the 8,000 Hz mode.
There is no controlled comparative latency test in GameSir’s documentation for these three paths. Connection choice therefore describes features and convenience, not a guaranteed difference in total input-to-game latency.
Do you need GameSir Connect?
No. You can connect the controller and play without GameSir Connect. The app is the manufacturer’s optional PC utility for configuration and firmware management.
When checking the official GameSir software downloads page, the listed GameSir Connect release was version 1.14.5, updated July 6, 2026. Software listings can change, so confirm the current version and that the download identifies the G7 Pro 8K PC variant before installing.
Install and configure GameSir Connect
- Download GameSir Connect from the official downloads page.
- Install it in Windows, then connect the G7 Pro 8K by USB-C. Use the cable for firmware operations even if you normally play over the receiver or Bluetooth.
- Open the app and select the detected G7 Pro 8K PC controller.
- Use the app’s update control when a firmware update is offered. Keep the cable attached and do not interrupt power while the update is running.
- After the update, disconnect and reconnect the controller, then verify inputs in Windows or a game.
GameSir Connect can expose controls for macros, stick curves, trigger response, vibration, and RGB lighting. Change one setting at a time and test it in a game; an aggressive stick curve or trigger setting can feel like a hardware fault when it is only a profile choice.

If you only need a working gamepad, stop after Windows recognizes the controller. Extra tuning software is not required for wired, receiver, or Bluetooth play. Install the app when you need firmware maintenance or want to change the controls listed above.
Understanding the 8K polling claim
GameSir advertises up to 8,000 Hz polling over USB-C and 2.4 GHz wireless on PC. “Up to” describes a supported maximum, not a guaranteed reading in every polling utility, USB topology, game, or computer. No independent named study or independent laboratory measurement is established by the cited official material, so do not present the manufacturer’s specification as an outside test result.
Polling rate versus latency
Polling rate is the interval at which the host checks for controller reports. The manual gives these theoretical examples:
| Polling rate | Theoretical polling cycle | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| 125 Hz | 8 ms | It is not a measurement of the controller’s complete input-to-game delay |
| 1,000 Hz | 1 ms | It does not include USB, game-engine, display, or processing delay |
GameSir’s G7 Pro 8K PC manual states: “Real-world latency will always exceed this theoretical baseline, determined mainly by the controller’s microcontroller (MCU) processing efficiency and installed firmware.” In other words, a faster polling interval can reduce one part of the timing chain, but it cannot by itself prove a specific end-to-end latency.

The manufacturer says results can vary with PC load, USB-port and connected-device load, hubs, controller configuration and firmware, the test utility version, and the test method. Minor differences between computers and test runs are normal. A lower or inconsistent reading is therefore a reason to check the test conditions, not proof that the controller is defective.
For a useful comparison, keep the same cable or receiver, USB port, controller profile, firmware, utility version, and test method across runs. Close unnecessary background workloads and note whether the controller is connected through a hub or dock. A single unusually low number is less informative than several runs under documented, repeatable conditions.

Troubleshooting by symptom
Windows does not detect a wired controller
- Reconnect both ends of the USB-C cable and try a different direct USB port.
- Remove a hub or dock temporarily and retest.
- Check
joy.cplafter Windows has had a few seconds to enumerate the device. - If the problem persists, open Device Manager, locate the matching controller entry, uninstall or reload that entry, reconnect the controller, and check the related USB Root Hub behavior. GameSir documents these as driver-problem remedies, not as mandatory first-time setup steps.
The receiver is plugged in but there is no wireless input
- Confirm the switch is set to Receiver, not Bluetooth.
- Press Home and wait for the solid Home light.
- Repeat pairing with the receiver’s pairing button and the controller’s pairing button.
- Try a direct USB port and remove hubs or high-traffic USB devices while testing.
Bluetooth pairing does not appear
- Set the switch to Bluetooth and press Home before opening Windows discovery.
- Remove a stale controller entry from Settings > Bluetooth & devices, then choose Add device again.
- Confirm that the PC’s Bluetooth adapter is enabled and functioning with another device.
An 8K polling utility reports a low or unstable value
- Close background workloads and retest with the PC under lighter load.
- Connect the controller directly rather than through a hub or dock.
- Check whether other devices share the USB path.
- Review controller settings and firmware in GameSir Connect.
- Update or reinstall the polling utility if its version is old.
- Repeat with the same test method and compare several runs instead of relying on one sample.
These checks address the variables GameSir identifies. They cannot turn a Bluetooth connection into an 8,000 Hz connection, and they cannot convert a polling result into a complete latency measurement.
The controller is stuck on or will not turn on
Use the reset pinhole on the rear of the controller as described in the manual. After resetting, select the intended connection mode, press Home, and reconnect or pair again.

A firmware update fails
Reconnect the controller by cable and use the current GameSir Connect workflow for the G7 Pro 8K PC variant. GameSir also documents a forced-firmware procedure for failed automatic updates, but its page contains general and specialized instructions. Follow the model-specific instructions shown for your controller instead of combining button sequences from different procedures. Keep the cable connected throughout the process and do not close the app while firmware is being written.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A reliable first-session checklist
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 is running and the controller’s intended connection mode is selected.
- USB-C setup uses a direct PC connection and does not depend on a separate driver installer.
- Receiver setup ends with a solid Home light after the included dongle is inserted.
- Bluetooth setup is completed under Windows Bluetooth & devices.
joy.cplshows responsive buttons and sticks before game-specific troubleshooting.- GameSir Connect is installed only when tuning or firmware maintenance is needed.
- Any 8K result is interpreted as a manufacturer-supported maximum, with the PC, USB path, firmware, utility, and test method recorded.
Once those checks pass, choose the connection that matches how you play: USB-C for the simplest and most controlled setup, the receiver for high-polling wireless play, or Bluetooth for general cable-free convenience.

No. It is optional software for firmware updates and settings such as macros, stick curves, trigger response, vibration, and RGB. Connect by cable when performing firmware maintenance.
Does Bluetooth support 8,000 Hz polling?
GameSir specifies the up-to-8,000 Hz mode for PC over USB-C and 2.4 GHz wireless. The specification does not apply to Bluetooth.
Why is my 8K polling test lower than expected?
GameSir says results vary with PC load, USB-port and connected-device load, hubs, controller settings and firmware, the test utility, and the test method. Retest directly connected, reduce background activity, check firmware, and compare several runs using the same method.
Do I need a separate driver for wired setup?
The manufacturer’s ordinary setup instructions do not make a separate driver installation a prerequisite. If Windows fails to detect the controller, use Device Manager and USB Root Hub troubleshooting rather than downloading unrelated driver tools.
What should I do if the controller is stuck on or will not turn on?
Use the reset pinhole on the rear as shown in the G7 Pro 8K manual. Then select the desired connection mode, press Home, and reconnect or pair the controller.
How do I verify that Windows sees the controller?
Press Win+R, run joy.cpl, select the controller, open Properties, and test its buttons and sticks. This separates a Windows connection issue from a game-specific configuration issue.
The Bottom Line
For the least complicated setup, connect the G7 Pro 8K directly by USB-C and verify it in joy.cpl. Choose the included receiver for wireless PC play with the advertised high-polling option, or Bluetooth for ordinary cable-free convenience. Treat 8,000 Hz as a manufacturer-supported maximum, not a guaranteed measurement or complete latency figure.
