The Corsair HS80 RGB Wireless works as a USB wireless headset on both Windows PCs and PlayStation 5. On PC, plug in the wireless transmitter, let Windows install it, then use iCUE for lighting, equalizer, microphone, sidetone and firmware settings. On PS5, plug the same transmitter into the console and set Output to Headphones to All Audio. If the PS5 identifies the receiver as a keyboard, switch the receiver to PlayStation mode in iCUE before reconnecting it to the console.
What you need before setup
Use the HS80 RGB Wireless with its supplied wireless USB transmitter and USB cable. Keep a Windows 10 or later PC available even if your main use is PS5: iCUE is the tool for receiver mode selection, firmware updates and detailed headset settings.
- The headset and wireless USB transmitter
- The included USB cable
- A working USB-A port on the PC or PS5 (use a compatible adapter if your computer has only USB-C ports)
- Internet access for downloading iCUE and obtaining firmware updates
- A Windows 10 or later PC for iCUE configuration
Before connecting anything, charge the headset if its battery is low and place the transmitter where it has a clear path to your listening position. Corsair rates battery life at up to 20 hours; actual runtime varies with volume, RGB lighting and use.

USB mode is specifically described for PC use. The PS5 procedure below uses the wireless transmitter.
Set up the HS80 wirelessly on a Windows PC
- Connect the transmitter. Insert the included wireless USB transmitter into a working USB port on the PC. Avoid an unpowered hub while diagnosing connection problems; connect directly to the computer first.
- Wait for Windows to install the device. On first connection, Windows automatically installs the required device driver. Do not unplug the transmitter while this is happening.
- Restart Windows. Corsair recommends rebooting after the driver loads. A restart helps Windows and iCUE enumerate the receiver cleanly.
- Install iCUE. Download and install the current iCUE release on a Windows 10 or later PC, then launch it. If Windows asks for permission to install device software, approve it and restart iCUE afterward.
- Power on the headset. Turn on the HS80 and wait for the wireless link to establish. Keep the headset near the transmitter during first pairing.
- Choose the headset in Windows. Open the Windows sound output selector and select the HS80 wireless playback device. In the input selector, choose the HS80 microphone when you want its boom microphone for calls or recording.
- Test playback and the microphone. Play a familiar track, speak into the microphone and verify that the Windows input meter responds. If an application was already open, close and reopen it so it picks up the newly selected devices.
If iCUE does not show the headset, leave the transmitter connected, quit iCUE completely, restart the PC and launch iCUE again. A direct USB connection and a fresh reboot are more useful diagnostic steps than repeatedly moving the headset power switch.
Use USB mode on a PC
USB mode is useful when you want the maximum PC resolution quoted in Corsair’s guide, when wireless interference is suspected, or when updating firmware.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
- Turn the headset off.
- Connect the headset directly to the PC with the included USB cable.
- Wait for Windows and iCUE to recognize the wired device.
- Select the HS80 as the Windows output and input device if Windows has not switched automatically.
Corsair states that USB mode supports up to 24-bit/96 kHz audio on PC. The headset must be powered off and connected to the PC in this USB mode for firmware updating. Disconnecting the cable or powering on the headset during an update can interrupt the process, so leave it untouched until iCUE reports completion.
Configure the headset in iCUE
iCUE is where the PC-specific controls live. Select the headset or its receiver in the device list, then use the available configuration pages.
Set RGB lighting
Open the lighting controls to choose an RGB color or effect and adjust brightness. Lighting consumes power, so reducing brightness or turning RGB off is a sensible choice when battery runtime matters more than appearance.

Create or select an EQ profile
Use the equalizer page to select a listening profile or adjust frequency bands for games, music, films or voice chat. Make one profile your default, then test it with content you know well; a setting that improves footsteps may make music or dialogue sound thin.

Adjust microphone input and sidetone
Microphone input volume controls how loudly your voice is sent to other people. Sidetone feeds a controlled amount of your own microphone signal back into the earcups, which can prevent you from speaking too loudly when the headset seals out room sound. Set each control while monitoring a call or recording rather than relying only on the slider position.
Update firmware safely
- Turn the HS80 off.
- Connect it to the PC with the USB cable.
- Open iCUE and select the HS80 headset or HS80 WIRELESS RECEIVER.
- Start the firmware update shown by iCUE and keep the cable connected until the software confirms that it is finished.
- Restart iCUE and reconnect the transmitter wirelessly after the update.
Corsair’s explicit requirement is that the headset be in USB mode—powered off and connected to the PC—to update firmware. If iCUE offers no update, confirm that the cable is carrying data, not only power, and that the headset is actually switched off.

Connect the HS80 wirelessly to a PS5
- Insert the transmitter. Plug the wireless USB transmitter into any working USB port on the PS5.
- Turn on the headset. Allow a few seconds for the receiver and headset to establish their wireless link.
- Route all console audio to the headset. On the PS5, open Settings > Sound > Audio Output, select the HS80 receiver as the output device if it is not already selected, and set Output to Headphones to All Audio.
- Set levels. Adjust the PS5 headphone volume and the headset’s own volume control to a comfortable level. If one is set very low, increasing only the other may not provide enough output.
- Check the microphone. In the PS5 sound settings, speak and watch the input indicator. In a party, confirm that the microphone is not muted by the console or the headset control.
Corsair describes the out-of-box PS5 experience as plug and play when the receiver is in the correct console mode. iCUE is not installed on the PS5, so perform EQ, lighting, sidetone and firmware work on a Windows PC, then move the transmitter back to the console.
Fix the “HS80 receiver shows as a keyboard” problem
When the PS5 labels the receiver as a keyboard, the receiver is normally in the wrong device mode rather than being physically defective. Switch it to PlayStation mode from a PC.

- Disconnect the receiver from the PC without changing the selected mode.
- Plug the receiver into the PS5, then repeat the PS5 audio-routing steps and set Output to Headphones to All Audio.
If the receiver still appears as a keyboard, power-cycle the headset and PS5, try another PS5 USB port, and repeat the mode-selection procedure. Do not attempt to solve this by changing unrelated keyboard settings; the correction is made in iCUE’s receiver connection mode.

Pair SLIPSTREAM Multipoint devices
Corsair lists the HS80 Wireless among headsets compatible with SLIPSTREAM Multipoint. Multipoint pairing is performed from iCUE’s receiver connection view and requires the headset to be in USB mode during the process.
- Connect the receiver and the headset to a Windows PC.
- Turn the headset off and connect it with the USB cable so it is in USB mode.
- Open iCUE and select the receiver.
- Open Connections and choose the Multipoint pairing option shown for the receiver.
- Follow iCUE’s on-screen pairing prompts, keeping the headset and receiver connected until pairing completes.
- Return the headset to wireless operation and test each paired connection separately.
Multipoint is an optional configuration, not a requirement for ordinary PC or PS5 use. If a newly paired device behaves unpredictably, remove the extra connection in the same iCUE view and verify basic single-device wireless operation first.
Understand range and wireless interference
Corsair states that the transmitter’s range is up to 60 ft (18 m). That is a maximum stated range, not a guarantee through a home or office. The quick-start guide specifically warns that walls, electronics and other wireless devices can reduce it.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Place the transmitter in a front or side USB port with a relatively clear line toward the headset.
- Keep it away from dense cable bundles, USB 3 hubs and other radio transmitters when possible.
- Reduce the distance before changing software settings if audio cuts out or becomes robotic.
- Test with nearby wireless accessories temporarily turned off to identify interference.
- For a fixed desk position where interference persists, switch to USB mode on PC.
A short drop at the edge of the room is consistent with the stated range caveat. Frequent drops a few feet from the transmitter point more strongly to a blocked, crowded or faulty USB connection.

Troubleshoot the most common setup failures
The PC does not detect the receiver
- Move the transmitter directly to another working USB port.
- Wait for Windows driver installation to finish, then reboot as Corsair recommends.
- Quit and relaunch iCUE after the reboot.
- Test the transmitter on another PC if available; this separates a receiver problem from a Windows USB problem.
The headset is detected but there is no sound
- Select the HS80 as the active Windows output device.
- Check the application’s own output selection; games and chat programs can override Windows’ default.
- Raise both the Windows/app level and the headset’s physical volume.
- Reconnect the transmitter and restart the application after changing devices.
People cannot hear you
- Select the HS80 microphone as the Windows or PS5 input.
- Check that the boom microphone is not muted and that the application has microphone permission.
- Raise microphone input volume in iCUE on PC, then test again.
- On PS5, use the console’s microphone test and confirm the party has not muted you.
The PS5 has sound but no chat or game audio
- Set Output to Headphones to All Audio, not only chat audio.
- Confirm the HS80 receiver is the selected output device.
- If the receiver is shown as a keyboard, perform the PlayStation-mode procedure above before changing volume settings.
Firmware update will not start
- Use the included USB data cable and connect directly to the PC.
- Power the headset off; iCUE requires USB mode for this operation.
- Close other headset-control utilities, restart iCUE and try again.
- Do not disconnect the cable while iCUE is writing firmware.
Wireless audio cuts out
- Move closer to the transmitter and remove walls or furniture from the path.
- Try a different USB port and separate the transmitter from other wireless or USB 3 hardware.
- Temporarily disable nearby wireless devices to identify interference.
- Use USB mode on PC if the environment remains unreliable.
A reliable order for future moves between PC and PS5
Once the headset is configured, use this sequence to avoid mode confusion:
- On PC, apply iCUE lighting, EQ, microphone and sidetone settings, and complete any firmware update in USB mode.
- If the destination is PS5, select PlayStation mode for the receiver in iCUE before unplugging it.
- Move the receiver to the PS5, power on the headset and set Output to Headphones to All Audio.
- When returning to PC, move the receiver back, select it in Windows and launch iCUE if you need to change settings.
- Keep the USB cable available: it is required for PC wired audio, firmware updates and the documented Multipoint pairing process.
With the receiver in the correct mode and the PS5 audio output set to All Audio, the HS80 should provide wireless game, chat and media sound without additional console software.
