Do not start with an in-app setup guide. The exact app titled Sesame Street: Friends & Fun has not been confirmed in the official Sesame Workshop directory or in the Apple and Google Play listings examined. First verify the installed app’s exact name, publisher, and store listing. If it is an Apple device, use the device’s Screen Time and family-control features to limit access; those controls can work even when an app-specific parental menu has not been verified.

The official listings that can be confirmed are for an app titled Sesame Street, not necessarily Friends & Fun. Treat its details as related-app information only.

What is actually confirmed?

Several similarly named Sesame Street apps and pages can make it easy to apply the wrong instructions. The confirmed information is limited to the following:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Listing or source Confirmed detail What that detail does not establish
Sesame Workshop app directory The exact title “Sesame Street: Friends & Fun” was not confirmed in the directory available for review. It does not prove that the app never existed. A new, renamed, delisted, or region-specific app could be absent from a directory.
Apple U.S. App Store listing An app titled “Sesame Street” is sold by “Sesame Workshop (Apps),” has a 4+ age rating, and requires iOS/iPadOS 15.1 or later. Those details do not verify an app named “Sesame Street: Friends & Fun,” its controls, or its availability in another country.
Google Play listing A related listing is titled “Sesame Street.” The listing does not verify that “Friends & Fun” is the same app or reveal its parental-control features.
Sesame Workshop description The related official Sesame Street app is described as providing videos and games in a kid-safe, ad-free environment. That description must not be transferred to an unverified title.
Apple age-rating guidance App Store age ratings are generated from information supplied by the developer about sensitive content and features. A 4+ rating is context, not a parental-control configuration or a guarantee that every child will find the app suitable.

No official support page for the exact “Friends & Fun” title is identified in the available listings. Therefore, there is no reliable menu-by-menu in-app procedure to publish for that name.

Verify the app before changing any settings

Perform this check on the same phone or tablet your child uses. Do not rely on an icon, a screenshot, or the child’s description of the name.

  1. Open the store listing from the installed app. Use the device’s App Store or Google Play controls to view the installed application rather than searching the web for a similarly named game.
  2. Record the exact title. Check punctuation, subtitle, and whether the listing says “Sesame Street” or “Sesame Street: Friends & Fun.” A shorter or slightly different title is a different identification until the publisher confirms otherwise.
  3. Check the publisher or seller. On Apple, the confirmed related listing names “Sesame Workshop (Apps)” as seller. On Google Play, inspect the developer identity shown on the listing. Do not assume that an app using Sesame Street artwork is official.
  4. Check the region and device requirements. Store listings can vary by country and operating-system version. Note the child’s device model, operating-system version, and the country associated with the store account. The related Apple listing requires iOS/iPadOS 15.1 or later, but that requirement does not apply automatically to another title.
  5. Read the current listing disclosures. Look for the age rating, in-app purchases, advertising statements, account requirements, and privacy disclosures. None of those should be inferred from a different Sesame Street app.
  6. Save evidence for support. If the title and publisher do not match, capture the listing name and developer information before changing settings. This prevents a later troubleshooting session from starting with the wrong app identity.

If you cannot identify a publisher or reach a legitimate store listing, treat the application as unverified. Do not enter a child’s personal information, approve purchases, or assume that a “parent” button is trustworthy merely because it uses Sesame Street branding.

Choose the control you need

Parental controls are easier to configure when the goal is explicit. Decide which of these outcomes applies:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Prevent all use: block access to the app or remove it from the child’s device.
  • Limit time: allow the app only during a defined daily window or for a maximum amount of use.
  • Limit scope: manage a broader app category or websites when the individual app cannot be selected.
  • Control purchases or downloads: require adult approval for store activity.
  • Reduce general device activity: apply wider restrictions rather than treating this one app as the only concern.

The available choices depend on the platform, operating-system version, family arrangement, and whether the child uses a supervised account. The app’s own listing does not establish which of these controls it supports.

Compare the control approaches

Approach What it can accomplish Important limitation
App-specific device rule Restricts the identified app without necessarily affecting unrelated apps. Only useful if the installed app appears under the correct title and profile.
Category rule Limits a group of apps when the individual title is unavailable. May restrict other games or video apps that the child is allowed to use.
Website restriction Can cover browser access when a service is used through a website instead of an app. Does not automatically control a separately installed application.
Store approval Helps prevent a child from downloading the app again or making an unapproved purchase. It is separate from daily-use limits and must be tested independently.
In-app parent menu May offer settings specific to that application. No such menu is verified for the exact “Friends & Fun” title, so it cannot be your only safeguard.

Use the narrowest rule that meets the safety goal. A broad category block is reasonable when the title cannot be identified, but review what else it affects and explain the change to the child.

Set limits on an iPhone or iPad

Apple documents device-level Screen Time and Family Controls that can manage access to specific apps, app categories, and websites. This is the most defensible approach when an exact-title in-app control has not been verified.

1. Open the child’s Screen Time controls

On the child’s iPhone or iPad, open Settings and locate the Screen Time area. In a family setup, the organizer may instead manage the child’s device from the child profile presented by the family controls. Labels and placement can change with the installed iOS or iPadOS release, so use the wording shown on that device rather than an older screenshot.

2. Protect the settings from casual changes

Where the device offers a separate Screen Time passcode or adult authorization, keep it known only to the caregiver. Do not reuse the child’s device-unlock code if the child knows it. A restriction that can be removed from the same screen is not a meaningful limit.

3. Select the narrowest control that meets your goal

If the verified app appears by name, apply an app-specific limit or block. If it does not appear individually, Apple’s documented controls can also work with a broader app category or with websites. A category restriction may affect other apps, so review the resulting list before saving it.

4. Apply the rule to the correct device or child profile

Confirm that the rule is attached to the device the child actually uses. A family organizer can accidentally configure the adult’s iPhone while believing the child’s iPad is being restricted. Check the device name and the child profile shown by the controls before leaving the settings screen.

5. Check installation and access separately

A time limit on an installed app is different from permission to download it again. Review the store and family-approval settings available on your current Apple software if you also need to prevent reinstallation or unapproved purchases. Do not assume that an app limit alone handles store activity.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

6. Test as the child

Close the app, reopen it, and try the action you intend to restrict. Test both normal use and the edge of the allowed period. If you configured a category or website rule instead of an app-specific rule, test another app in that category so you know whether the broader restriction is working as intended.

These steps describe the control types Apple documents, not a guaranteed tap sequence for every iOS or iPadOS release. If a label is absent, consult Apple’s current Screen Time instructions for that software version rather than following an old menu path.

What to do on Android or another platform

The confirmed evidence does not establish a current, exact setup path for “Sesame Street: Friends & Fun” on Android, nor does it establish the app’s Android controls. Do not copy an Apple procedure onto an Android phone or tablet.

Instead, identify the device manufacturer and Android version, then use the current family or parental-control settings exposed on that device. Look for controls that can:

  • restrict one installed app or an app category;
  • set a daily time allowance or schedule;
  • require adult approval for downloads and purchases; and
  • protect the configuration with a parent credential.

The labels, account requirements, and capabilities can differ between Android versions and manufacturers. If the app is not listed by its exact title, do not conclude that it is unrestricted; first check whether it is grouped under a category or installed under a different title. If your device provides no control that meets the safety goal, the practical option is to remove the app and prevent unsupervised reinstallation while you verify the publisher.

Do not assume the app has an in-app parent menu

No verified evidence establishes that the exact “Friends & Fun” title has a parent gate, account system, purchase flow, advertising, or a particular privacy practice. A screen labeled “Parents,” “Grown-ups,” or “Settings” may belong to a different app with a similar name.

After verifying the store listing, inspect the installed app for controls, but treat them as optional conveniences rather than your only safeguard. Device-level restrictions remain useful because they can limit access even when an individual app has no reliable parental menu.

If the listing says the app is ad-free or kid-safe, preserve the wording and scope of that claim. The official description of the related Sesame Street app cannot be used to make the same promise about an unverified “Friends & Fun” title.

How to interpret the 4+ rating

The related Apple listing’s 4+ rating indicates the age category assigned from developer-provided content and feature information. It does not mean the app is automatically appropriate for every child, and it does not activate any restriction.

Use the rating as one input alongside the child’s age, reading ability, accessibility needs, media preferences, and your household rules. The rating also does not confirm that the app installed on your device is the same “Sesame Street” app shown in the listing.

Privacy, purchases, and permissions

Verification should include more than the title. Read the current store disclosure for information about data collection, account creation, advertising, purchases, and device permissions. A general Sesame Workshop privacy policy is not proof of how an unverified application behaves.

Be especially cautious if the app asks for a child’s name, email address, location, contacts, photographs, or payment details. Pause and confirm the developer through the official store before providing anything. If a purchase screen appears, require adult approval through the platform rather than relying on a button inside the app. Keep receipts and screenshots if you need to ask the platform or publisher for help.

Troubleshoot the most common verification problems

The store shows “Sesame Street,” not “Friends & Fun”

Pause before configuring app-specific instructions. Compare the seller or developer, icon, screenshots, description, and version information. If those identify the official related app, you can use device-level controls for that installed app, but describe it accurately as “Sesame Street,” not as the unverified longer title.

The app is installed but cannot be found in the store

Check the device’s installed-app list and the store account’s country. A title may have changed, been removed, or be unavailable in that region. Until the publisher can be verified, avoid granting permissions or approving purchases.

The restriction has no effect

Check that you configured the child’s device or profile, that the adult authorization was saved, and that the child is using the same account and device you tested. Review the software version because labels and available controls can change after an update.

The child can reinstall the app

An app-use limit does not necessarily govern store downloads. Review the platform’s current purchase and download-approval controls, and test a fresh installation attempt while signed in as the child.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The app requests personal information or payment

Stop and read the current store disclosures. Do not infer that the request is legitimate from the Sesame Street name alone. A general Sesame Workshop privacy policy cannot establish how an unverified title behaves.

Caregiver checklist

  • Exact installed title recorded.
  • Publisher or seller verified in the official store.
  • Country, device model, and operating-system version noted.
  • Control goal chosen: block, limit time, restrict category or website, or control purchases.
  • Adult authorization or passcode protected from the child.
  • Rule applied to the child’s actual device or family profile.
  • App access tested after saving the restriction.
  • Store reinstallation and purchase behavior tested separately.
  • Claims about ads, accounts, privacy, and in-app controls taken only from the verified listing.

When to wait for better identification

If you need an exact in-app walkthrough, obtain the store URL or a screenshot showing the full title and publisher. With that information, a caregiver can check the current version, region, age rating, privacy disclosures, purchase flow, and any documented parent controls before following app-specific instructions. Without it, the safest complete setup is to verify first and use the operating system’s device-level controls rather than guessing at an app menu.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is “Sesame Street: Friends & Fun” an official Sesame Workshop app?

The exact title has not been confirmed in the official Sesame Workshop directory or the Apple and Google Play listings reviewed. Verify the installed app’s publisher and store URL; do not infer official status from artwork or the name alone.

Can I use Apple Screen Time if the app has no parent menu?

Yes. Apple documents device-level controls that can manage specific apps, app categories, and websites. The exact labels depend on the iOS or iPadOS version and family setup.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does the related Sesame Street app’s 4+ rating prove this app is suitable?

No. The 4+ rating belongs to a related Apple listing and is based on developer-provided content information. It is context, not a control setting or a guarantee for every child.

Is the app guaranteed to be ad-free and kid-safe?

Sesame Workshop uses those descriptions for its related official Sesame Street app. Do not transfer those claims to an unverified “Friends & Fun” title; read the installed app’s current listing.

Why can my child still download the app after I set a time limit?

Use limits and store-download permissions are separate. Review the platform’s current family-approval and purchase settings, then test a new installation while signed in as the child.

What should I do if the app asks for personal data or payment?

Stop, inspect the current official store disclosure, and verify the developer. Do not provide information or approve a purchase merely because the app uses Sesame Street branding.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Bottom Line

Verify the exact title, publisher, region, and platform first. Because “Sesame Street: Friends & Fun” is not confirmed in the official listings reviewed, do not guess at an in-app parent menu or transfer claims from another Sesame Street app. On Apple devices, use Screen Time and Family Controls to block or limit the identified app, a category, or related websites; on Android or another platform, use that device’s current family controls. Protect adult authorization, test access and reinstallation separately, and treat age ratings and kid-safe claims as context rather than proof of protection.
