Diablo II: Resurrected VR is an unofficial community project, not a Blizzard feature. This guide covers the D2R VR project that adds four viewing modes (F1 through F4), including an experimental first-person preview, and uses D2RLoader, ReShade, Generic Depth, BodyWalk, FlatVR and Game Link. It is intended for offline, single-player use only; the project warns that injecting code online can result in an account ban.
For the most reliable setup, match the project’s documented game build and software versions, configure the author’s stereo-video settings, begin with a stable camera view, and introduce movement gradually. The first-person mode uses pointing, gestures and melee swing zones, but its creator explicitly says weapon placement and aiming are not yet calibrated for many weapons.
What “Diablo II VR” means in this guide
“Diablo II VR” is commonly used for the unofficial D2R VR community project for Diablo II: Resurrected (D2R). It is not an official Blizzard mode and it is not the same software as UEVR. The project README states: “This project is not made, endorsed or supported by Blizzard Entertainment.”
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe project is designed for offline single-player play. Do not treat multiplayer injection as safe: the README warns that injecting code online can get the account banned. Keep the VR installation separate from any online session, and follow the current README’s launch instructions rather than experimenting with an online character.

The instructions and version numbers below reflect the project documentation checked on October 13, 2026. Community loaders, game builds and mappings can change, so check the project’s current README and installer immediately before installation.
Requirements and compatibility
The README names a specific compatibility chain. The headset experience also requires a PC-compatible VR headset with tracked motion controllers; no particular headset model is endorsed by the project.
| Component | Documented requirement | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Diablo II: Resurrected | Build 3.3.93787 | The mod relies on addresses in this build. Other builds need their addresses checked. |
| Loader | D2RLoader 1.3.1 | Loads the project into the named D2R build. |
| Graphics injector | ReShade with add-on support | Provides the add-on path used by the project. |
| Depth data | Generic Depth add-on enabled | Required by the documented stereo setup. |
| VR integration | BodyWalk 1.78 or later, with FlatVR and the Game Link plug-in | Converts tracked-controller input and supplies the headset/flat-screen link. |
| Hardware | PC-compatible VR headset and tracked motion controllers | Needed for headset tracking and the controller mappings described below. |
The README says the ready installer can install the required components and includes free BodyWalk Lite if BodyWalk is not already installed. It also directs users to start the game through the D2R VR settings application or shortcut. Treat that installer as the project’s supported route, and re-check its version notes before accepting defaults.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
If your game is not build 3.3.93787, do not assume the mod will work because the menus look similar. The README says other builds require address checks and that the plug-in reports this in its log. A failed address match can produce missing views, incorrect input or a crash.
Install the documented software stack
- Confirm the game build. In your D2R installation or launcher, verify that the executable corresponds to 3.3.93787. If it does not, stop and consult the current project compatibility notes instead of forcing the loader.
- Install D2RLoader 1.3.1. Use the project’s current installer or README path. Keep a note of the game folder so the loader and later add-ons point to the same installation.
- Install ReShade with add-on support. A standard shader-only installation is not the documented configuration; select the add-on-capable option.
- Enable Generic Depth. Confirm that the Generic Depth add-on is present and enabled. Without depth data, the stereo view will not follow the documented setup.
- Install BodyWalk 1.78 or later. If you do not own the full application, use the BodyWalk Lite component supplied by the project installer when available.
- Enable FlatVR and Game Link. These are the plug-ins named in the README for headset use. Check BodyWalk’s plug-in list before launching.
- Use the D2R VR settings shortcut. Launch through the project’s settings application or shortcut so its injection and display settings are applied together.
- Check the log on first launch. If the plug-in reports an address mismatch, close the game and resolve the build/version issue before trying to play.
Do not add UEVR to this chain. UEVR is a separate injector with its own options and documentation; the D2R VR README does not say that UEVR is required or that its settings apply here.
Configure D2R’s video settings for stereo rendering
In Options > Video, the project README lists the following values. They are the author’s configuration guidance, not independently measured performance results or a guaranteed nausea cure.

| Setting | Project guidance | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Vertical Sync | Off | The author says the mod draws the eyes in turn and that VSync halves the frames each eye receives. |
| Framerate cap | 180 | The README annotates this as 90 frames per eye; it is a configuration value, not a population statistic. |
| Anti-aliasing | FXAA or MSAA | Do not use TAA for this setup; the author says TAA combines earlier frames and mixes the two eyes. |
| Ambient Occlusion Quality | Medium | Use the documented baseline before changing quality for performance. |
| NVIDIA DLSS | On or Off | The README says both modes work in stereo. |
The 180 cap is not a claim that every computer will sustain 180 frames per second. It is the project’s requested cap, with the author’s explanation that this corresponds to 90 frames for each eye. If the current README changes these values, follow the newer instructions.

The project also describes making the game window square, or placing it on a square virtual monitor in FlatVR. In FlatVR, adjust the virtual screen’s size, distance and curve to suit your headset. These controls change how the flat game image is presented; they are display settings, not proven motion-sickness treatments.
Choose a view before configuring motion controls
D2R VR offers four views. F1, F2 and F3 use a gamepad-style mapping through BodyWalk. F4 is the first-person preview and uses hand pointing, gestures and a configured melee strike zone.
| View | Perspective | Input style | Maturity and caveats |
|---|---|---|---|
| F1 | Top-down | Xbox-style gamepad mapping | Uses the familiar Diablo perspective; the README does not promise a comfort ranking. |
| F2 | Third-person | Xbox-style gamepad mapping | Camera is behind the character; comfort depends on the individual. |
| F3 | Floor-scale mixed reality | Xbox-style gamepad mapping | Uses the same documented controller table as F1 and F2. |
| F4 | First-person | Pointing, gestures and Strike Zone | Early preview. Weapon position and aim can be wrong for many weapons. |
Start with the view in which the world feels most stable to you. The project does not publish a universal comfort order, and no headset-specific comfort test is established here.
Motion controls for F1, F2 and F3
For the first three views, BodyWalk turns the VR controllers into an Xbox-style gamepad. The README explicitly documents these inputs:
Recommended Free Tools
| Gamepad action | VR controller input |
|---|---|
| Left stick / movement | Use the left stick. |
| D-pad directions | Hold the left grip and move the left stick in the desired direction. |
| Map | Click the left stick. |
| Menu | Hold the left stick down. |
| Recenter (“ahead” is where I look) | Hold the right stick down. |
The remaining actions follow the game’s own gamepad layout. Because the README does not enumerate every button, do not infer a mapping for skills, attack, interact or inventory actions that is not shown in your active BodyWalk profile. Open BodyWalk Mapping and verify the profile before changing it.

Recenter your forward direction
In F1 through F3, hold the right stick down to recenter. The project describes this as making the direction you are looking become “ahead.” Recenter while seated or standing in a neutral posture, before starting movement, and repeat it if the virtual direction drifts from your physical stance.
Motion controls for F4 first-person preview
F4 is not a finished first-person campaign mode. The project README says: “F4 is an early look, not a finished way to play the game: the weapons are not calibrated yet, so how a weapon sits in the hands and where it aims may be off for many of them.” Expect manual adjustment and inconsistent weapon alignment.
| Action | Documented control | Setup or limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Potions | Reach to the belt | Configure the gesture in BodyWalk Mapping. |
| Bows, crossbows, fireballs and other spells | Right trigger | The shot follows the pointing hand. |
| Swords, axes and other melee weapons | Swing inside the configured Strike Zone | Set the zone in BodyWalk Mapping; the README does not claim universal calibration. |
| Inventory | Hold the left stick down | Same stick-click hold described by the project. |
| Map | Click the left stick | Same click used in the other views. |
| Swap weapon sets | Click the right stick | Verify that your BodyWalk profile has not reassigned the click. |
| Recenter | Hold the right stick down | Resets the center/ahead direction. |
Adjust weapons before judging aim
Open D2R VR Settings and use Weapon Adjust when a weapon sits incorrectly or points away from the hand. This is a manual interim adjustment, not evidence that every weapon has been calibrated. Test one weapon at a time in a safe offline area, then save or note the setting before switching equipment.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Configure gestures and Strike Zone
- Open BodyWalk Mapping from the profile used by D2R VR.
- Assign the potion gesture to the belt reach you can perform without twisting your shoulder or leaning into the headset.
- Set a Strike Zone large enough for a controlled swing but small enough to avoid activating attacks from incidental hand movement.
- Test a melee weapon and a ranged spell separately. Pointing controls ranged attacks; swinging controls melee attacks.
- Recenter with the right-stick hold after changing your physical stance.
Some actions still require configuration in BodyWalk. If a gesture does nothing, confirm that the active profile is the one loaded by Game Link and that another application has not captured the controller input.
Why VR motion can make you sick
Meta’s developer comfort guidance explains that “Motion sickness can occur when there is a mismatch between what the user sees and how they move.” A virtual camera that accelerates, turns or slides while your body remains still can therefore feel uncomfortable. This is a general VR principle, not a D2R-specific medical finding.
Comfort differs between people and implementations. Meta’s locomotion guidance presents teleportation as a possible comfort-oriented choice but notes that it can cause disorientation; it also warns that slide locomotion can cause sickness. Do not assume that one technique is comfortable for everyone.

Practical ways to reduce discomfort in D2R VR
Begin with the least provocative view for you
Try F1, F2 or F3 before F4 if first-person camera motion feels intense. Top-down and third-person perspectives may feel more stable for some players, while others prefer the directness of first person. The project does not provide a tested comfort ranking, so use your own symptoms as the deciding signal.

Use small, deliberate movements
Avoid rapid repeated direction changes, sudden acceleration and fast camera turns when they trigger symptoms. Move in short sessions and pause between experiments so you can identify which change caused discomfort. This is general comfort guidance, not a D2R-specific preset.
Try discrete turning when your software provides it
If your headset runtime, controller layer or other active software exposes snap turning, test it instead of continuous turning. Snap turns rotate in discrete steps and can reduce the amount of visual rotation, but the transition itself can disorient some users. Change one setting at a time.
Try teleportation only when it is actually available
If your active software offers teleport locomotion, compare it with continuous movement in a quiet area. Teleportation can reduce continuous visual travel for some users, but Meta notes that it can also cause disorientation. The D2R VR README does not document teleportation as a built-in mod option, so do not expect a teleport button in the project’s controller table.
Recenter before movement
Hold the right stick down in any F1–F4 view to reset the center and “ahead” direction. A misaligned forward direction can make an intended movement feel unexpectedly angled, which is a reason to recenter before changing locomotion settings.
Stop at the first warning signs
If you feel nausea, dizziness, headache, sweating, eye strain or disorientation, pause the game and remove the headset. Do not try to push through worsening symptoms. There is no guaranteed acclimation schedule established for this project, and continuing while ill can make it harder to identify the setting that caused the problem.

Keep the physical environment predictable
- Use the same seated or standing posture while testing a control profile.
- Keep the play area clear so you can remove the headset safely.
- Recenter after changing posture or moving the headset.
- Change only one variable—view, turn style, speed or display setting—between tests.
Do not import UEVR settings without verification
UEVR documentation says: “Enable ‘Decoupled Pitch’ under the VR options. This flattens the view rotation to keep the horizon level (removes roll), which can help reduce motion sickness.” That instruction belongs to UEVR’s own VR options. The D2R VR README does not state that D2R VR exposes Decoupled Pitch or that the UEVR setting applies to this project.
Likewise, UEVR documentation warns that its AFR mode renders each eye on separate alternating frames and “Causes eye desyncs and usually nausea along with it.” This is a warning about UEVR’s AFR mode, not evidence that D2R VR uses UEVR or AFR. Do not enable or disable an option in one injector and assume it changes another project’s rendering path.
Troubleshoot the common failure points
The game launches flat or without a headset view
- Confirm that you launched through the D2R VR settings application or shortcut.
- Check that ReShade was installed with add-on support and that Generic Depth is enabled.
- Verify that FlatVR and Game Link are enabled in BodyWalk.
- Confirm that the headset runtime sees the tracked controllers before starting D2R.
The plug-in reports an address or build problem
- Re-check that the game is build 3.3.93787 and that D2RLoader is 1.3.1.
- Read the plug-in log for the reported address status.
- Do not bypass the warning by injecting into an online session.
- Consult the current README for a newer supported build or installer rather than editing addresses from memory.
Controllers move but actions do not occur
- Check that BodyWalk is 1.78 or later.
- Open BodyWalk Mapping and confirm the D2R profile is active.
- For F1–F3, verify the gamepad-style mapping; for F4, verify the gesture and Strike Zone assignments.
- Recenter with the right-stick hold after the profile loads.
Weapons point incorrectly in F4
This is a documented limitation of the preview, not necessarily an installation failure. Use Weapon Adjust in D2R VR Settings, test each weapon type offline, and remember that the project says many weapons are not yet calibrated.
The image feels uncomfortable or the eyes appear unsynchronized
- Apply the project’s documented video baseline: VSync off, 180 cap (90 per eye), FXAA or MSAA rather than TAA, and Medium ambient occlusion.
- Check that both eyes are being rendered through the intended project path.
- Stop immediately if discomfort begins; do not treat a rendering problem as something to endure.
- Do not apply UEVR AFR or Decoupled Pitch assumptions to D2R VR without project-specific documentation.
Which setup should you use?
| If your priority is… | Start with… | Reason and trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Learning the controls with the fewest novel gestures | F1, F2 or F3 | These views use BodyWalk’s gamepad-style mapping. You give up the experimental first-person interaction. |
| Trying hand-directed ranged attacks | F4 with a spell or bow | The right trigger fires along the pointing hand, but aim and weapon placement may be off. |
| Trying physical melee swings | F4 with a configured Strike Zone | It requires BodyWalk gesture setup and controlled swings; it is a preview, not a polished combat system. |
| Reducing continuous visual motion | Your most stable view plus modest movement | Use snap turning or teleportation only if your active headset/software exposes them; the README does not promise those options. |
| Maximum compatibility with the documented stack | D2R 3.3.93787, D2RLoader 1.3.1, ReShade add-ons, Generic Depth, BodyWalk 1.78+, FlatVR and Game Link | These are the versions and components named by the project. Newer versions may require new compatibility checks. |
Safety and support boundaries
Keep this project offline and single-player. It is community software with version-sensitive injection, not an officially supported game mode. The project does not recommend a particular headset, publish a universal motion-sickness cure or guarantee that every controller profile will work unchanged.
Before each update, review the project README and installer notes for changed builds, mappings and plug-ins. If your symptoms persist after stopping VR, or you have a medical concern about dizziness or nausea, seek appropriate medical advice rather than continuing to adjust game settings.
