LinkedIn Services Marketplace is free to set up. You create a Service Page from either your personal profile or an eligible Company Page, describe a specific offer, add proof, and respond to project requests with proposals. LinkedIn helps buyers discover providers, but you and the client agree scope, terms, and payment outside LinkedIn. Your fastest path to a first client is a narrow offer, credible evidence of results, and prompt, tailored replies to warm prospects and relevant requests.
What LinkedIn Services Marketplace does
LinkedIn describes Service Pages as dedicated landing pages that showcase services and businesses to help potential clients find providers. The workflow is based on requests and proposals rather than an in-platform checkout: a buyer describes a project, you respond, and both sides settle the scope, terms, and payment through the process you choose.
Potential clients can contact providers for free regardless of whether they are first-degree connections. A buyer may find you in Services Marketplace, through LinkedIn search, or through a recommendation from someone in their network. LinkedIn does not guarantee a lead, a conversion, a time to first client, or a level of earnings.

Choose where the service will live: your profile or a Company Page
Decide the owner before you publish. LinkedIn currently does not let you switch a service from a personal profile to a Company Page, or from a Company Page to a personal profile, after setup.
| Decision point | Personal-profile services | Company Page services |
|---|---|---|
| Brand owner | Your name and professional reputation | Your company brand |
| Who manages requests | The profile owner | Page administrators |
| Best fit | A solo freelancer or consultant whose expertise is the offer | A firm where several admins need to manage inquiries |
| Eligibility | Available to eligible individual profiles | Companies with 500 employees or fewer; Showcase Pages and University Pages cannot offer services |
| Reviews | Available for profile-managed services | Currently unavailable for Company Page services |
| Premium enhancements | May include an enhanced showcase, media, ratings, a recent review, a Request services button, and additional matched requests when eligible | Premium-related availability depends on the Page and account; check the live admin view |
Choose a personal profile when clients are hiring your judgment, craft, or direct involvement. Choose a Company Page when the company—not one individual—is the contracting identity and multiple admins must share access. If you are unsure, decide which name you want on the proposal, invoice, and client relationship before creating the page.
Prepare the offer before opening LinkedIn
A Service Page performs better when the offer can be understood in one pass. Prepare these inputs first:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- One buyer: for example, B2B SaaS founders, local professional firms, or online educators.
- One job to be done: the concrete problem the buyer wants solved.
- Deliverables: what the client receives, in what format, and how many revisions or meetings are included.
- Outcome: the practical change the work is intended to create. Avoid promising a result you cannot control.
- Evidence: a case study, before-and-after sample, portfolio item, credential, recommendation, or anonymized work sample.
- Capacity and location: where you work and whether you accept remote projects.
- Price approach: a starting hourly rate or “Contact for pricing,” plus your own minimum project size and payment schedule.
Specificity makes a service easier to evaluate. “I help B2B SaaS founders turn product interviews into publishable case studies” gives a buyer a recognizable situation and outcome; “I do marketing” does not.
Set up services on a personal profile
Use LinkedIn on desktop or in the mobile app. Labels can change slightly as LinkedIn tests interface updates, but the current profile path is:
- Open LinkedIn and select Me, then View Profile.
- Under your profile photo, select Add profile section.
- Select Add services. If LinkedIn shows a Service Page overview, read it and continue.
- Select only the service categories you can actually deliver. Categories should support the promise in your headline and About text, not serve as a list of every skill you have.
- Write the About description. Name the buyer, the problem, the deliverable, and the expected outcome. State what makes a project a fit and what information you need to begin.
- Set your work location and indicate whether you accept remote work.
- Display a starting hourly rate, or choose Contact for pricing. A displayed starting price is a minimum indicator, not a guarantee of the final project price.
- Add documents, photos, videos, or websites if your subscription and account make those media fields available. Use items that demonstrate the service, not unrelated personal updates.
- Consider allowing messages from members outside your first-degree network. Restricting messages can remove potential buyers who discover you through search or a recommendation.
- Select Save on desktop or Publish in the mobile flow.
Before publishing, read the page as a buyer: can someone tell who you help, what they will receive, and what to do next without opening another tab?

- Select Create.
- Select Add services.
- Review LinkedIn’s explanation of how services work.
- Enter the organization’s service categories, description, location, remote-work availability, pricing approach, and supporting media where available.
- Publish the service information and confirm that the correct Page admins can see and manage incoming requests.
Company Page services are useful when inquiries must be handled by a team. They do not currently provide the profile-managed review feature, so plan another way to show client evidence, such as case studies, recommendations on employees’ profiles, or a company portfolio.
Write a Service Page that converts attention into a conversation
Use a buyer-and-problem headline
Lead with the audience and the job. A useful pattern is: I help [specific buyer] achieve [specific outcome] through [service]. Keep the language recognizable to the person who would pay you. Technical process terms can follow the plain-English outcome.
Make the About section a small project brief
Answer four questions in order:
- Who is the service for?
- What problem or trigger brings them to you?
- What exactly will you deliver?
- What should the buyer do next?
Explain boundaries as well. Mention the information or access you need, a typical sequence of milestones, and work you do not take. Clear boundaries reduce mismatched requests and make a serious buyer more comfortable starting a conversation.
Choose categories for relevance, not reach
Adding every available category can make the page look unfocused. Select the categories that match the offer you want to sell first. You can describe adjacent skills in your profile and proposal when they are relevant to a particular project.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Show proof before requesting a call
Use a short case study, a before-and-after example, a sample deliverable, or a credential that relates directly to the advertised service. Explain the starting situation, your contribution, and the result the client can honestly verify. If confidentiality prevents naming a client, remove identifying details while preserving the problem, work, and measurable change you are allowed to disclose.
Recommendations are strongest when they describe how you worked and what benefit the client received, rather than simply saying you were “great.”
What Premium changes—and what it does not

LinkedIn rolls some features out gradually, so check the features shown in your own account before promising a capability to a client. Premium can improve visibility and matching options, but it does not create a persuasive offer, supply proof, qualify a project, or replace a proposal. The agreement and payment still take place through your preferred process outside LinkedIn.
How a service request becomes a paid project
- Discovery: The buyer finds your Service Page, profile, Company Page, search result, or a recommendation.
- Request: The buyer describes a project or asks whether you can help.
- Qualification: You confirm the desired outcome, constraints, decision-maker, timeline, and any dependencies.
- Proposal: You state the scope, deliverables, assumptions, schedule, price, payment milestones, revision policy, and next step.
- Agreement: Both sides accept the terms using the contract or written process you normally use.
- Delivery and payment: You complete the work and collect payment through your preferred process; LinkedIn does not process project payment in this documented workflow.
- Closeout: Mark the project complete where LinkedIn offers that control, then request an honest review or recommendation.
Do not treat a request as an invitation to send a generic biography. Respond to the buyer’s stated project and make the next decision easy.
A practical first-client playbook
1. Start with a narrow, sellable package
Turn your service into a defined first engagement. For example, a case-study package might include a 45-minute interview, one draft, one revision, and a final PDF and web version. A defined package gives a buyer something concrete to approve and gives you a boundary for pricing.
Keep the Service Page promise, your profile headline, featured work, and outreach message consistent. A buyer should not see one service category on the page and a completely different offer in your message.
2. Build a minimum proof set
Publish at least one relevant example before asking people to hire you. Pair the artifact with context: who it was for, what was difficult, what you did, and what changed. If you have no client work in the new niche, create a clearly labeled sample for a realistic scenario or adapt an earlier project without misrepresenting the client or result.

3. Contact warm prospects personally
Make a list of former colleagues, clients, partners, and contacts who work with your target buyer. Tell them what changed in your offer, who it is for, and the problem you now solve. Ask whether the issue is relevant or who might be a better introduction; do not send a mass pitch.
A useful message has four parts: a genuine context sentence, the specific problem you now handle, one proof point or sample, and a low-pressure question. For example: “I have started helping SaaS teams turn customer interviews into publishable case studies. I noticed your team is launching a new product line; if customer stories are on your roadmap, I can send a one-page example. Is that a current priority, or is there someone else who owns it?”

4. Reply to requests quickly and specifically
LinkedIn can show an average response-time figure when you respond within 24 hours. It can show an average response-rate figure when you respond to at least 80% of inquiries. These are display thresholds, not evidence that a lead will convert.
Use this response structure:
- Thank the buyer and restate the outcome they want.
- Say briefly why the project fits your service.
- Ask one or two questions that affect scope, such as audience, deadline, existing assets, or approval process.
- Describe the deliverable and a realistic timeline.
- Offer one clear next step, such as answering the questions or scheduling a short call.
Example:
“You need three customer stories ready for the October launch. I can interview the customers, produce a 900–1,200-word draft for each, and deliver web and PDF versions. Do you already have confirmed interviewees, and who approves the final copy? If the timing fits, reply with those details and I will send a fixed-scope proposal.”

5. Qualify before quoting
Ask only questions that change the work. Confirm the business outcome, audience, existing material, deadline, stakeholders, legal or brand constraints, and what success looks like. If the request is outside your categories, say so promptly and, where appropriate, suggest the type of provider the buyer should seek.
6. Send a proposal that removes ambiguity
Include:
- the problem and outcome in the buyer’s language;
- in-scope deliverables and formats;
- milestones, dates, and client responsibilities;
- price, deposit or milestone schedule, taxes if applicable, and payment method;
- number of revision rounds and the rate or process for additional work;
- assumptions, exclusions, cancellation terms, and approval deadline; and
- the exact action required to start.
Do not claim that LinkedIn has accepted a project merely because a buyer messaged you. The project exists when both parties agree to the terms through your chosen contracting process.
7. Deliver predictably and request specific proof
At completion, confirm that the agreed deliverables are finished and ask the client for an honest review. Suggest that they mention the original problem, what you delivered, and the result they can accurately describe. LinkedIn allows up to 20 invitations to past clients for reviews. Marking a project complete can trigger a review prompt without using an invitation credit.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Pricing and scope decisions
The starting hourly rate on a Service Page is a floor signal, not a quote for every project. A fixed project price is often easier for a buyer to approve when the deliverables and assumptions are stable; an hourly or day rate may be safer when discovery is incomplete or the scope is likely to change.
| Situation | Useful pricing approach | Protective detail to state |
|---|---|---|
| Clearly defined deliverables | Fixed project fee | Included outputs, revision limit, dates, and change-order process |
| Unknown requirements or evolving work | Paid discovery followed by a proposal, or hourly/day billing | What discovery produces and the estimate range or cap |
| Ongoing support | Retainer or recurring block | Availability, response times, unused-hours policy, and cancellation notice |
If you display “Contact for pricing,” make your reply useful by explaining the variables that determine the quote. Hiding every price detail can create unnecessary back-and-forth; publishing a low number that excludes essential work can create an even worse mismatch.

Common failure modes and fixes
The wrong owner was selected
Because LinkedIn currently does not let you switch between profile-managed and Company Page-managed services after setup, pause before publishing. If the service should belong to a firm with shared administration, create it from the eligible Company Page rather than attaching it to one employee’s profile.
The page lists skills instead of an offer
Replace a catalogue such as “content, SEO, websites, social media, and strategy” with one buyer, one problem, and a defined first engagement. Keep other capabilities in your broader profile.
The page has no evidence
Add a relevant work sample, case study, credential, or recommendation. Explain your role and the result; a logo wall without context gives a buyer little basis for comparison.
Replies are slow or generic
Set a daily check for LinkedIn requests and use a short response template that still references the buyer’s project. Replying quickly helps the response-time display threshold, while replying to at least 80% of inquiries helps the response-rate display threshold, but neither metric replaces thoughtful qualification.
The request is outside your scope
Decline clearly and early rather than accepting work you cannot deliver. If you know the kind of specialist required, point the buyer toward that category without implying an endorsement of a specific provider.
The buyer expects LinkedIn to handle payment
Explain in the proposal how you contract and collect payment. LinkedIn’s documented request-and-proposal workflow leaves project payment to the provider’s preferred process outside LinkedIn.
A review is requested before delivery is complete
Wait until the agreed work is finished. Ask for an accurate review that describes the actual engagement, not a scripted rating. Company Page-managed services currently do not have the same review feature as profile-managed services, so use case studies and other permitted evidence for a company offer.

A simple launch sequence for your first month
- Week 1: Choose the owner, define the buyer and job to be done, prepare one proof item, and publish the Service Page.
- Week 2: Improve the headline and About section after reading them as a buyer. Add a second relevant example or recommendation and contact a small group of warm prospects individually.
- Week 3: Review every incoming request, answer promptly, track the questions buyers ask, and refine the offer where confusion repeats.
- Week 4: Follow up once with people who expressed relevant interest, document objections, and update your proposal template, scope boundaries, and proof.
Use conversations—not vanity metrics—as your feedback loop. If buyers ask what is included, clarify deliverables. If they ask whether you serve their industry, make the relevant experience visible. If requests consistently fall outside your offer, tighten the categories and wording.
What to verify in your account
LinkedIn changes feature names, eligibility, and Premium availability. Before publishing or promising a feature to a buyer, check the current Service Page admin view for:
- whether your profile or Company Page is eligible;
- the categories currently available to you;
- which media fields you can use;
- whether the Request services button, ratings, reviews, or matched-request features are enabled; and
- the current controls for messages, project completion, and review invitations.
The durable strategy is independent of those interface changes: make the offer specific, show credible proof, respond to the right projects, agree terms in writing, and ask for an honest review after delivery.
