To set up Fitbit Air, charge it, install Google Health on a compatible phone, sign in with a Google Account, then use the app’s Connections → Add device flow to pair the tracker. Google Health automatically syncs Fitbit Air’s health and fitness data after it connects. Pairing the tracker is separate from the optional Health Connect integration, which shares selected data with other compatible Android apps.
Before you begin: check your phone and account
- You need a Google Account to use the Google Health app.
- Google lists Android 11 or later for Android phones and iOS 16.4 or later for iPhones. Download or update Google Health from Google Play or the Apple App Store. Check Google’s current setup requirements for account and device details.
- Meeting the general operating-system requirement does not guarantee compatibility. Google identifies some affected models, including Huawei P8 Lite, Huawei P9 Lite, Xiaomi Mi 6, and Huawei P20 Lite.
- Fitbit-account users need to move to a Google Account to access Google Health. Google’s published guidance says Fitbit-account access ended after May 19, 2026, and data deletion processing began July 15, 2026, following a period in which users could download or delete data. Check Google’s account page for the status that applies to you.
Pair Fitbit Air with Google Health
- Connect Fitbit Air to its charging cable. Google recommends connecting it to the cable before setup.
- Install or update Google Health and sign in. If you need a Google Account, follow the account-creation prompts in the app.
- Open the device-adding flow. In Google Health, go to Connections → Add device, select Fitbit Air, and follow the on-screen instructions. If you already have a connected device, the app may show Add more devices instead.
- Check the connection. Confirm Fitbit Air appears in the app’s device list and that its health and fitness data is syncing. Google describes syncing as automatic after connection; it does not specify how long the first sync takes.
Wear Fitbit Air for a secure fit
Wear the tracker on top of your wrist, behind the wrist bone. Keep the sensor in constant contact with your skin, and adjust the woven band so it feels comfortably snug without sliding or rotating.

What Fitbit Air tracks in Google Health
Fitbit Air has no screen; check the Google Health app to see its data. Google lists steps, sleep, heart rate, distance, cardio load, calories burned, and sleep stages among the metrics available through the app. Availability can vary: some advanced tracking requires Google Health Premium, and features such as Irregular Rhythm Notifications and SpO2 estimation are not available in every region. Do not assume every metric or feature will be enabled for every user.

- Designed for every occasion: With no screen to distract you or disrupt your style, your tracker moves seamlessly from bracelet to workout band to sleep band, and you can change looks in seconds – just press the pebble in, click, and go

Using Fitbit Air with another Google Health device
Google says an account can connect one Fitbit device or Pixel Watch at a time, with one exception: an account may use one Fitbit Air and one Pixel Watch together. Google Health can detect which wrist-worn device is active and reconcile data across active devices. If both are worn, the app prioritizes a source for each metric; inspect a metric’s expanded graph to see its source.
Health Connect is a separate, optional setup
You do not need Health Connect to pair Fitbit Air with Google Health. Health Connect is an optional way to share selected data between Google Health and other compatible apps on Android. Google’s setup instructions require Android 9 or later and an adult Google Account.

If Fitbit Air will not connect
Use Google’s current “Why can’t I set up my Fitbit device?” troubleshooting instructions. Google’s Fitbit Air setup guidance points to that help for failed connections. Follow the steps there rather than relying on unverified reset procedures or permission changes.
