To add a DayZ PC server to DZSA Launcher, install the server-side DZSA integration, restart the service, register the server with its public IP and Steam query port, and keep client-required mods in -mod= while server-only packages stay in -serverMod=. Players then install DZSA Launcher on their own PCs so it can discover required Workshop content, download missing mods, and start DayZ with the correct loadout.
The game port and Steam query port are different. The game port carries DayZ traffic; the query port is what DZSA uses to discover and list the server. A correct integration therefore depends on both the launcher package and accurate query-port registration.

What DZSA Launcher integration actually does
DZSA Launcher is a free, community-built Windows application that combines a DayZ server browser with automatic Workshop mod management. When a player joins a correctly configured server, the launcher reads the server’s required content, compares it with the player’s installed Workshop items, downloads anything missing, and starts DayZ with the complete mod set enabled.
That process removes the usual manual sequence of finding every Workshop item, arranging mod folders, and constructing a matching launch command. It does not replace the DayZ server itself, Steam, or the server’s configuration files. The server still has to advertise the right query endpoint and declare its client and server mod roles accurately.

Requirements and information to collect first
Have these details ready before changing the server:
- Administrative access to the DayZ service or its hosting control panel.
- The public IP address players use to reach the server.
- The server’s Steam query port. This is not automatically the same value as the DayZ game port.
- Access to the DayZ launch command, including
serverDZ.cfg,-mod=, and-serverMod=settings. - A way to restart the DayZ service after installing the integration or changing its configuration.
- A list of Workshop packages that clients must load and a separate list of packages that run only on the server.
- For custom gameplay values, access to the mission folder and the
serverDZ.cfgfile.
Every player who needs automatic installation must also install DZSA Launcher locally. A server can be listed without forcing a player to use DZSA, but the automatic download and launch workflow only happens for players running the launcher.

Hosted control-panel workflow
Some managed DayZ hosts expose the integration as a non-Workshop add-on. In the documented Host Havoc workflow, open the DayZ service in the control panel, enter the Non-Workshop Mods area, select DZSA Launcher, install it, and restart the server.
- Stop or pause the DayZ service if the panel requires that before installing an add-on.
- Open the service’s Non-Workshop Mods section.
- Select DZSA Launcher and choose the panel’s install action.
- Wait for the panel to report completion rather than starting the server immediately.
- Restart the DayZ service. The restart loads the integration and ensures the server advertises its current configuration.
Panel labels differ by provider. If the integration is not listed, ask the provider whether it supports the DZSA server-side package and whether the query port is exposed for public listing. Do not install a random Workshop item in its place; the launcher integration is a server component, not simply another gameplay mod.
Self-managed or dedicated-server workflow
On a self-managed machine, install the DZSA server-side package supplied by the deployment method you use, then restart the DayZ process. The exact file location and installer depend on that method, so preserve the package’s documented directory and do not overwrite the normal DayZ executable or mission files.

After installation, confirm that the process starts normally and that the existing DayZ configuration is still being loaded. If the service fails to start, remove only the newly added integration according to its installation instructions, restore the last known-good configuration, and test the server before attempting registration again.

Bohemia Interactive’s DayZ server documentation uses the following parameters:

A simplified command-line pattern is:
-config=serverDZ.cfg -port=2302 -mod=ClientModA;ClientModB -serverMod=ServerLogicAThe names above are placeholders showing the syntax, not packages to install. Use the folder or launcher identifiers required by your actual mods and deployment tool. Follow the host’s quoting and separator rules if its panel generates the command automatically.
The -mod= and -serverMod= split is critical. A client-required package placed only in -serverMod= will not be offered to players by the normal client load process. A server-only package placed in -mod= can create a client-side dependency that players cannot satisfy. Community mod documentation identifies mismatched client and server lists as a common cause of signature and connection failures.
Register the server in the DZSA listing
Installing the integration does not by itself guarantee that the server appears in the public DZSA browser. Register it with the DZSA server-check page using the server’s public IP and Steam query port in IP:QueryPort form.

- Determine the public IP shown for the DayZ service. Do not substitute a private address such as a LAN-only address.
- Find the Steam query port assigned to that service in the host panel or server network configuration.
- Enter the address as
public.ip.address:query-porton the DZSA server-check page. - Submit the check or registration request.
- Wait for the listing to propagate. The documented hosted workflow gives an approximate delay of five minutes.
- Search for the server in DZSA Launcher after propagation and compare the displayed name, player count, and mod requirements with the server configuration.
Do not register the DayZ game port merely because it is the most visible number in the panel. Discovery uses the Steam query port, while player traffic uses the game port. If registration succeeds only after changing the port value, verify that you entered the query port rather than the game port.
Separate client mods from server-only mods
Client-required content
Any package that changes content or functionality a player must load belongs in -mod=. The package must be present on the server and available through the Workshop so DZSA can identify it for clients. Players need matching versions; an old local copy can be replaced when the launcher detects an update.
Server-only content
Administrative tools, server logic, and other packages intended to execute only on the server belong in -serverMod=. They should not be presented as client dependencies. Keep this list separate even when the same deployment contains both types of package.
Why mismatches block connections
DayZ validates signatures and loaded content during connection. If a required client mod is missing, if a player has a different version, or if a server-only package is incorrectly exposed as a client dependency, the connection can fail before the player reaches the character screen. When troubleshooting, compare the actual launch command with the mod folders and with the server’s declared requirements instead of relying on memory of which packages were installed.
Optional gameplay configuration is a separate step
DZSA registration and mod downloading do not enable custom DayZ gameplay values. If you need custom settings supported by cfggameplay.json:

- Copy
cfggameplay.jsoninto the mission folder used by the server. - Open
serverDZ.cfg. - Set
enableCfgGameplayFile = 1;. - Save the file and restart the DayZ service.
- Join once and verify that the intended gameplay values are active.
Keep this file separate from the DZSA integration. A server can be correctly listed and can download mods while still using default gameplay values if the mission file or enable flag is missing.
Set up the player-side workflow
Each player should install the current DZSA Launcher on the PC where DayZ is installed. The launcher needs access to the player’s Steam Workshop library and DayZ installation so it can compare local content with the server’s requirements.
- Install and open DZSA Launcher.
- Search for the server by its name or identifying details.
- Select the server entry and review the required mod list.
- Allow every missing Workshop download to finish before pressing the join or launch control.
- Let DZSA start DayZ with the generated mod set. Do not simultaneously launch DayZ through another shortcut that has a different mod list.
On the first connection, a large mod set can take time to download. Interrupting the process can leave an incomplete local installation; reopen DZSA and let it finish rather than manually copying folders from another player.
Validate the integration before inviting players
Server checks
- Restart the service after installing DZSA or changing launch parameters.
- Confirm the process uses the intended
serverDZ.cfgand game port. - Read the startup log for the expected client and server mod lists.
- Verify that the public IP and Steam query port used for registration match the active service.
- Check that the server appears in DZSA after the expected propagation interval.
Client checks
- Use a test PC with no copy of the server’s mods installed, if possible.
- Search for the server in DZSA and confirm that missing Workshop items are detected.
- Wait until downloads complete and verify that DayZ launches without a signature or missing-mod error.
- Connect, disconnect, and reconnect once to confirm that the launcher retains the correct local mod state.
Troubleshoot a missing server or failed connection
The server is not visible in DZSA
- Run the server-check registration again using the public IP and the Steam query port in
IP:QueryPortformat. - Confirm that you did not enter the DayZ game port in place of the query port.
- Restart the DayZ service after installing or updating the integration.
- Allow approximately five minutes for listing propagation before testing repeatedly.
- Search by the exact server name and check whether the service is online in its normal browser as well.
If the entry still does not appear, ask the host whether the query port is reachable from the public internet and whether its panel has assigned a different port than the one you recorded.
DZSA lists the server but shows the wrong or incomplete mods
- Compare the server’s
-mod=list with the installed client-required folders. - Move server-only packages out of
-mod=and into-serverMod=. - Check spelling, separators, and capitalization in the launch command generated by the control panel.
- Restart the service after editing the command so the listing can read the new requirements.
Players receive signature or missing-mod errors
- Ensure every client-required mod is present on both server and player systems.
- Have the player allow DZSA to complete all Workshop updates, then retry.
- Remove or update an outdated local copy when the launcher reports a version mismatch.
- Confirm that a server-only package was not accidentally placed in
-mod=. - Check that the player launched through DZSA rather than an old DayZ shortcut with stale parameters.
The server stopped working after a DayZ or mod update
Game patches can require launcher or mod updates. First let Workshop downloads finish on the server and on a test client. Then verify that DZSA Launcher is current, restart the service, and test a clean connection. If the issue began immediately after one mod changed, temporarily remove that package from the relevant list according to its documentation and confirm whether the base server starts; do not leave a required gameplay mod removed from a production server.

Gameplay settings do not take effect
Check that cfggameplay.json is in the active mission folder, that enableCfgGameplayFile = 1; is present in serverDZ.cfg, and that the service was restarted after both files changed. This problem is independent of whether DZSA can list the server.
Hosted versus self-managed deployment
The right deployment model depends on how much access you need to the underlying DayZ process. The documented sources describe the hosted installation flow but do not establish neutral uptime, price, or performance comparisons.

Choose a hosted plan when a guided control-panel install and managed restarts are more important than low-level access. Choose self-management when you need direct control over launch parameters, mission files, query-port configuration, or server-only packages.
Maintenance routine after setup
- Record the public IP, game port, query port, and current launch command.
- Keep a copy of the working
serverDZ.cfg, mission files, and mod lists before making changes. - After DayZ patches, update DZSA Launcher and allow Workshop downloads to complete before testing.
- After adding or removing a mod, restart the service and test with a client that refreshes its local Workshop content.
- Re-run the DZSA server check if the public IP or query port changes.
- Document whether each package is client-required or server-only so future edits do not collapse the two lists.
Final setup checklist
- DZSA server-side integration is installed through the host panel or your deployment method.
- The DayZ service has been restarted.
-config=serverDZ.cfgpoints to the active configuration.- The game port is set deliberately;
2302is only the documented example. - Client-required packages are in

Once those checks pass, DZSA handles the repetitive part of a modded DayZ connection: discovery, missing Workshop downloads, and launching DayZ with the server’s required client mods. The reliability of that workflow still depends on accurate port registration, a clean separation between client and server packages, and restarting the service whenever the integration or launch command changes.
