To send V Rising server alerts to Discord, create an incoming webhook in the channel that should receive messages, then connect that URL to either your hosting panel, your own start/stop automation, or a compatible BepInEx webhook mod. Hosting-panel and script integrations are suited to lifecycle events such as starts, stops, restarts, and updates. Player and world events such as chat, logins, PvP kills, and VBlood defeats require a mod that supports those events.
V Rising does not provide one universal, built-in Discord-notification switch in the dedicated-server documentation cited for this setup. The webhook is the delivery method; the panel, automation script, or mod decides which events generate a message.

Choose the notification scope first
The correct setup depends on what you want Discord to report. A server process can be healthy while no player event is occurring, and a player-event mod cannot replace a reliable restart notification from your host. Decide which of these scopes your community actually needs before creating channels or installing software.
Host lifecycle notifications
Lifecycle alerts describe the dedicated-server process or the hosting service. Typical examples are an automatic restart, an automatic update, a manual start, or a stop. A hosting panel can usually send these notifications after you store a Discord webhook URL in its service settings. A self-managed server can send the same type of message from its restart, update, start, and stop automation.

In-game event notifications
In-game alerts are generated from the running game rather than from the process manager. They can include player chat, login and logout events, PvP kills, and VBlood defeats when a compatible BepInEx webhook mod supports them. ScarletHooks advertises destinations for chat, login/logout, PvP kills, and VBlood defeats. VampireWebhook documents a Discord webhook URL and a generated BepInEx configuration file. Confirm that the chosen mod supports the current V Rising build before enabling it.
Use separate channels when audiences differ
Put operational messages in a private staff or status channel and player-facing events in a channel that the community can read. This prevents a restart notice from being buried in combat events and makes it easier to reduce noisy alerts without disabling important lifecycle messages.
How the connection works
A Discord incoming webhook is a destination URL tied to one channel. Discord accepts an HTTP POST sent to that URL and publishes the resulting message in the channel. V Rising itself does not decide when to make that request in every setup; another component does:
- Hosting panel: the panel watches its own start, stop, restart, or update actions and sends lifecycle messages.
- Self-managed automation: a scheduled task, service wrapper, or update/restart script sends the HTTP POST when its action runs.
- BepInEx mod: a compatible mod observes selected in-game events and sends notifications according to its generated configuration.
The webhook URL is effectively a credential. Anyone who obtains it may be able to post to the channel, so treat it like a password rather than a public link.
Prerequisites and checks
Prepare these items before changing the server:
- Discord permission to edit the destination channel and manage its integrations.
- Administrative access to the V Rising hosting panel, or control of the machine that runs your automation.
- A decision about lifecycle alerts, in-game alerts, or both.
- For a mod route, a BepInEx installation and a mod release that explicitly supports the V Rising build you are running.
- Access to the server’s persistent-data
Settingsdirectory so configuration survives an update. - For connectivity problems, the configured
Port,QueryPort, andAddressvalues, plus control of firewall and port-forwarding rules.
Do not paste a webhook into a public repository, a screenshot, a support ticket, or a shared chat transcript. If it is exposed, rotate it immediately in Discord and replace the old value everywhere it was used.
Create the Discord incoming webhook
The destination must exist before you configure the server. Discord’s labels can change slightly between clients, but the workflow is the channel’s edit and integrations area.

- Open the Discord server and select the channel that should receive V Rising notifications.
- Open the channel’s edit settings, then open its integrations area.
- Choose the option to create an incoming webhook.
- Set the webhook name and avatar if you want messages to be recognizable. These settings affect how the sender appears in the channel, not which V Rising events are detected.
- Copy the complete webhook URL and save the webhook. Keep the copied value private.
- Leave the Discord channel open so you can verify the first test message after configuring the server.
Copy the URL exactly. A leading or trailing space can make a valid webhook appear broken. If the channel is deleted or the webhook is removed later, the server will continue trying to use the old URL until you replace or delete it in the panel, script, or mod configuration.
Route A: configure lifecycle alerts in a hosting panel
This is the least complicated route when your provider exposes a Discord-messages setting. GamingDeluxe’s documented workflow sends messages when a server automatically restarts, automatically updates, starts, or stops.
Enter the URL and enable messages
- Sign in to the hosting control panel that manages the V Rising service.
- Open the service settings for that server.
- Find the panel’s Discord-messages or equivalent notification setting.
- Enable the option and paste the Discord webhook URL into its field.
- Execute or save the change, depending on the panel’s workflow. Wait for the panel to report that the action completed successfully.
The panel now owns the event detection. It can notify Discord for lifecycle actions that it performs, but this setting does not automatically create chat, login, PvP, or VBlood messages. Those are game events and require a compatible mod route.
Run a controlled test
Use one low-risk lifecycle action, such as a planned restart during a maintenance window. Watch the Discord channel while the panel performs the action. The test should establish both that the URL is valid and that the panel’s notification option is attached to the service you changed. If the server restarts but no message appears, check the troubleshooting section rather than repeatedly restarting the service.

To stop panel-generated messages, remove the stored webhook URL from the panel’s Discord-messages setting and save or execute the change. Removing the URL disables delivery from that panel integration; it does not delete the Discord webhook itself. Delete the Discord webhook separately if it is no longer needed.
Route B: connect a self-managed script or service
Use this route when you run the dedicated server yourself, your host has no Discord setting, or you need lifecycle logic that the panel does not expose. The implementation is the same basic operation: your automation sends an HTTP POST to the Discord webhook URL when a start, stop, restart, or update action occurs.

Identify the events in your automation
Locate the commands or service hooks that perform each lifecycle action. Place the notification call after the action has a meaningful result, and make the message identify whether the server started, stopped, restarted, or updated. If an update fails before the server restarts, do not report a successful restart merely because the command was launched.
Keep the URL outside the script source
Store the webhook as a protected environment value or secret supported by your service manager instead of hard-coding it in a public script. Restrict file permissions on local configuration, redact the URL from logs, and avoid printing the full request target when troubleshooting. Anyone with the URL may be able to post to the channel.

Record whether the HTTP request succeeded or failed in the automation’s private logs. A Discord delivery failure should not trigger an endless restart loop. Let the server action finish according to its own health checks, then report the notification failure separately so an operator can repair the integration.
Test each path once
After adding the POST call, test a planned start or restart and confirm the corresponding message. Then test an update notification only when an update is already scheduled. Do not generate repeated artificial failures in a production world simply to produce alerts; one successful controlled test is enough to validate the destination and the hook in your automation.
Route C: use a BepInEx webhook mod for player and world events
A BepInEx mod is the appropriate route when the requirement is chat, logins, logouts, PvP kills, or VBlood defeats. ScarletHooks and VampireWebhook are examples documented for Discord webhook delivery, but their event lists, configuration keys, and supported game builds are version-sensitive.
Confirm compatibility before installation
Check the mod’s release information against the exact V Rising build on your server. A mod that worked before a game update may stop loading, stop detecting events, or change the names of its configuration keys. Do not assume that a current BepInEx installation guarantees that every webhook mod is current.

Install and generate the configuration
- Stop the V Rising server cleanly before adding or replacing a mod.
- Install the compatible BepInEx webhook mod according to that mod’s instructions.
- Start the server once so the mod can create its configuration file.
- Stop the server again before editing the generated file.
- Open the generated configuration and enter the Discord webhook URL in the documented webhook field. Enable only the event classes you intend to publish.
- Save the file, restart the server, and trigger one supported event such as a test login or chat message.
VampireWebhook specifically documents a generated BepInEx configuration file. ScarletHooks advertises chat, login/logout, PvP-kill, and VBlood-defeat destinations. The exact file name, key names, and enable/disable controls can change, so follow the release that matches your build instead of copying an older example.
Control event volume
Player-event mods can produce substantially more messages than lifecycle alerts. Start with one or two event classes, such as login/logout or VBlood defeats, and add chat or PvP notifications only if the channel remains useful. A dedicated status or events channel keeps operational notices from being overwhelmed.
Keep V Rising configuration in the persistent Settings directory
V Rising’s dedicated-server settings are divided by purpose:
ServerHostSettings.jsoncontains infrastructure-oriented values, including networking and RCON settings.ServerGameSettings.jsoncontains world and gameplay rules.
Place your overrides in the server’s persistent-data Settings directory. Configuration stored only in an installation directory may be replaced when the server is updated, causing networking or gameplay values to revert and making an integration appear to have stopped working.
Webhook settings belong to the panel, script, or mod that owns the notification. They are not a replacement for the host and game settings files. Keep the files organized so you can tell whether a failure is caused by the game server, networking, or the notification component.

A Discord webhook does not make the V Rising server reachable. If players cannot connect, a query tool cannot see the server, or an external integration cannot contact the service, verify the networking values and perimeter rules separately.

Addressand confirm it matches the interface or host address your deployment expects. - Verify that the operating-system firewall permits the required traffic.
- Verify router or cloud port forwarding when the server is behind a private network or gateway.
A server that works from the host machine but not from outside commonly points to forwarding or firewall rules rather than a Discord problem. Resolve reachability first, then test the webhook component independently.
Compare the three setup routes

You can combine routes. For example, use a panel setting for restart and update alerts, then use a BepInEx mod for VBlood defeats. Combining them does not merge their configuration: each component needs the correct webhook value and its own maintenance checks.
Troubleshoot missing or unreliable messages
No Discord message appears
- Regenerate the Discord webhook and replace the old value. This also invalidates an exposed URL.
- Paste the replacement without leading or trailing spaces.
- Confirm that the target channel still exists and that the webhook is still attached to it.
- In a hosting panel, verify that the Discord-messages option is enabled for the correct server and that the panel reported a successful save or execution.
- For a mod, confirm that the configuration file was generated by the current installation and that the selected event is enabled.
- Check private panel, service, or mod logs for a failed request without publishing the secret.
Messages stopped after a game or host update
Recheck the panel integration after an update, because third-party labels and controls can change. For BepInEx, verify mod compatibility with the new game build and inspect whether a fresh generated configuration uses different keys. Keep a backup of known-good settings, but do not blindly restore old files over a configuration format that has changed.
The server is reachable locally but not externally
Check Port, QueryPort, and Address in the persistent host settings. Then verify Windows or operating-system firewall rules and router or cloud forwarding. Local success does not prove that external players or query services can reach the configured ports.
Alerts are duplicated or too noisy
Use a dedicated status or events channel. Disable event classes that the community does not need, particularly high-volume chat or combat notifications. Ensure that the same lifecycle action is not being reported by both a panel setting and a self-managed script unless duplicate messages are intentional.

Rotate it immediately in Discord, update every panel, script, and mod configuration that used the old URL, and remove the exposed value from repositories, screenshots, and logs. Treat the replacement as a new secret and test it once in the intended channel.
A safe maintenance routine
- Before a planned V Rising update, note which component owns each notification class: panel, automation, or mod.
- Back up the persistent-data
Settingsdirectory and your private automation configuration without exposing the webhook. - Apply the update and verify that
ServerHostSettings.jsonandServerGameSettings.jsonremain in the persistent Settings location. - Check the panel’s Discord setting and the mod’s generated configuration for compatibility changes.
- Perform one controlled lifecycle or in-game test, depending on the component changed.
- Watch the destination channel for the expected single message before reopening the server to normal activity.
This sequence separates three failure domains: Discord destination validity, event detection, and V Rising networking. That makes it easier to fix the actual broken layer instead of repeatedly changing unrelated settings.
