To send Soulmask server alerts to Discord, create a webhook in the Discord channel that should receive messages, then paste that webhook URL into the Soulmask hosting panel’s Service Settings. Enable Discord messages and select Execute to save it. The documented notifications cover server start and stop events, plus scheduled restart and scheduled update messages when those tasks exist.
This is a server-side integration. Players do not enable it from Soulmask’s in-game chat or personal Discord settings. The webhook URL is also a credential: anyone who obtains it can post in that channel, so keep it private and rotate it if it is exposed.

The connection has two parts:
- Discord provides the destination. A channel webhook gives the server a URL that accepts messages for that channel.
- The Soulmask server sends events. The hosting panel stores the URL in Service Settings and posts supported lifecycle events to Discord.
Because the webhook belongs to a specific channel, each alert appears there without requiring a bot account, player login, or in-game chat command. You can create separate webhooks for separate channels, such as a public status channel and a private administrator channel.
What you need before starting
- Permission to manage the Discord channel, including access to its Integrations settings.
- Access to the Soulmask server’s hosting control panel and its Service Settings page.
- The exact Discord channel where alerts should appear.
- A decision about whether scheduled restart or update alerts are needed. Those messages require corresponding scheduled tasks; adding only a webhook does not create a schedule.
- A secure place to handle the webhook URL. Do not paste it into public chat, screenshots, issue reports, or shared documents.
Create a Discord webhook
Perform these steps in the Discord server that should receive Soulmask notifications.

- Open the target channel and choose Edit Channel.
- Open Integrations.
- Select Create Webhook.
- Set a recognizable webhook name, such as
Soulmask production. Add an avatar if your Discord interface offers that option. - Choose Copy Webhook URL.
- Save the channel changes.
Copy the URL directly from Discord rather than retyping it. Treat the copied value like a password. A person who has it can publish messages into the channel, even if that person cannot otherwise manage your Discord server.
Paste the webhook into the Soulmask hosting panel
- Sign in to the Soulmask hosting control panel.
- Open Service Settings for the correct server instance. If you manage multiple instances, verify the server name or instance identifier before changing anything.
- Find the editable Discord messages option and enable it.
- Paste the copied value into Discord Webhook URL. Do not add quotation marks, spaces, or Markdown around the URL.
- Press Execute to apply the setting.
- Wait for the panel to confirm the change, then keep the settings page available while you perform a test event.
The URL is saved by the hosting service, not by a player’s Soulmask client. If the panel has separate settings for multiple servers, repeat the procedure for each instance and use a distinct webhook when you want alerts separated by channel.

The documented event types are limited to server lifecycle and scheduled-task messages. Use the following table to decide what to configure.

There is no documented player-chat notification switch in this workflow. If you need messages for kills, joins, deaths, progression, or other in-game activity, do not assume the hosting-panel webhook supports them; the documented integration covers the events listed above.
Test the connection safely
Testing a production server by stopping it unexpectedly can disrupt players. Use a maintenance window or a separate test instance when possible.
- Confirm the webhook still exists under the Discord channel’s Edit Channel → Integrations page.
- Confirm the Soulmask panel shows Discord messages enabled and that the URL field contains the intended webhook.
- Save again with Execute if you changed any value.
- Trigger a controlled server start or stop according to your hosting provider’s normal procedure.
- Watch the target Discord channel for the corresponding message.
- If scheduled alerts are required, check that the restart or update task is enabled and has a future run time, then test it during a maintenance window.
A successful start or stop message confirms the basic path: Soulmask service → hosting panel integration → Discord webhook → channel. It does not by itself prove that a scheduled task is configured correctly.

Troubleshoot missing notifications
No messages appear after saving the URL
- Check that you pasted the complete URL from Copy Webhook URL, including its final characters.
- Make sure Discord messages is enabled, not merely filled with a URL.
- Press Execute; leaving the page without executing may discard the change.
- Verify that you edited the correct server instance in a multi-server panel.
- Open the Discord channel’s integrations page and confirm the webhook was not deleted or regenerated.
- Check whether the service actually started or stopped. A configuration save does not necessarily create an immediate test message.
Start and stop work, but scheduled alerts do not
- Open the hosting panel’s scheduled-task area and verify that a restart or update task exists.
- Confirm the task is enabled and its time zone and next-run time are what you expect.
- Check that the task targets the same Soulmask instance where you entered the webhook.
- Allow for the task’s warning phase; a restart warning may be posted before the service goes offline.
Discord reports an invalid or deleted webhook
Return to the channel’s Integrations page and create or copy a current webhook. Then replace the old value in Service Settings and press Execute. Deleting a webhook immediately invalidates every service still using its URL.
The panel accepts the URL but Discord remains silent
Check the destination channel first. A webhook posts only to the channel where it was created; changing your attention to another channel will make a working integration look broken. Also verify that the Discord channel still permits webhook messages and that you did not paste a URL from a different Discord server.
Protect and rotate the webhook URL
A webhook URL grants posting access to its channel. The practical security rule is simple: store it as a secret and disclose it only to the hosting panel that needs it.
- Do not publish the URL in a support ticket, repository, chat message, stream, or screenshot.
- Restrict access to the hosting panel to administrators who need server operations.
- Use a dedicated administrator channel if operational alerts should not be visible to the whole community.
- When you suspect exposure, delete the compromised Discord webhook and create a replacement.
After creating the replacement, paste the new URL into Service Settings, keep Discord messages enabled, and press Execute. The old URL cannot be trusted simply because no unwanted message has appeared yet.

Disable notifications or change the destination
Temporarily or permanently stop posting
- Open the Soulmask panel’s Service Settings.
- Delete the value in Discord Webhook URL.
- Apply the change with Execute. If the panel exposes a separate Discord messages switch, disable it as well.
Remove the Discord endpoint
You can also delete the webhook from the Discord channel’s Edit Channel → Integrations menu. Deleting it prevents future posts from every service that uses that URL. Remove the URL from the Soulmask panel too, so a later restart does not repeatedly attempt delivery to a retired endpoint.
Choosing a hosting and automation approach
The webhook procedure is the same conceptually, but the amount of operational work differs by deployment method. Choose based on how much server administration you want to perform and whether a recurring hosting fee is acceptable.

Using SoulMask Server Manager on Windows
The SoulMask Server Manager project is a separate Windows administration option rather than a setting inside Discord. Its README describes SteamCMD installation, management of multiple instances, backups, scheduled restarts with broadcast warnings, and Discord webhooks for start/stop events and restart warnings.
When this option fits
- You want to run the server on hardware you control.
- You need more than one Soulmask instance on the same Windows machine.
- You want manager-level backup and restart functions instead of relying on a hosting provider’s panel.
- You are comfortable maintaining SteamCMD, firewall rules, updates, disk space, and Windows uptime.
Operational cautions
A Windows manager does not eliminate webhook security. Store its webhook configuration privately, limit access to the machine, and rotate the Discord webhook if the configuration file or server account is exposed. Confirm which events the manager sends before assuming it mirrors every event available in a managed panel.
Container deployment: what it solves and what it does not
The documented unofficial container exposes the game and query UDP ports and persists the Soulmask data directory at /home/steam/soulmask. Those details address deployment, networking, and data survival when a container is recreated.
A container is not a replacement for the Discord webhook workflow. You still need a process that observes starts, stops, restarts, or updates and posts to Discord. If you run the container yourself, verify all of the following:
- The game and query UDP ports are published from the container to the host and allowed through the host or provider firewall.
/home/steam/soulmaskis mapped to persistent storage so saves and configuration survive container replacement.- The container’s restart policy matches your maintenance plan; an automatic restart can create a start event without a planned-maintenance warning.
- Your scheduler or external manager has access to the webhook URL without exposing it in logs.
Direct Linux launch and webhook troubleshooting
A community Linux launch guide uses flags such as -SteamServerName, -MaxPlayers, -PSW, -adminpsw, -MULTIHOME, -Port, -QueryPort, and -EchoPort. These options are useful context when diagnosing a self-hosted instance before adding Discord automation.

- Confirm the executable starts under the intended service account.
- Set the server name, player limit, player password, administrator password, bind address, game port, query port, and echo port for your environment.
- Open the selected UDP ports in the host and upstream firewall.
- Verify that the server reaches a stable running state and that its data directory is writable.
- Add a service manager or scheduler for controlled starts, stops, restarts, and updates.
- Only then connect a webhook or webhook-capable automation tool.
This order separates game-server failures from notification failures. If the process never starts, Discord cannot report a successful start; if the service is healthy but no message arrives, inspect the webhook and automation layer.

Separate routine alerts from incidents
Use one channel for routine start, stop, restart, and update messages, and reserve an administrator-only channel for sensitive operational discussion. The webhook itself should point to the channel whose audience matches the information in the alert.
Make maintenance predictable
Configure scheduled restart and update tasks only after deciding when players are least affected. A warning message is useful when players have time to log out; an unexpected stop message is an incident signal, not a substitute for a maintenance schedule.

Keep an independent backup plan
Discord messages are notifications, not backups. The Windows manager option documents backups, while container and direct Linux deployments require you to choose and verify your own storage and backup process. A channel post cannot restore a damaged Soulmask save.
Use clear webhook names
Name each webhook for its instance and purpose, for example Soulmask PvE - production or Soulmask test - maintenance. Clear names reduce the chance of pasting a test URL into a production server’s settings.

Will deleting a Discord webhook stop the Soulmask server?
No. Deleting the webhook removes the Discord destination. The Soulmask service and its scheduled tasks remain separate, although future notifications will fail until you remove or replace the URL in the hosting panel.
Do scheduled update alerts install updates automatically?
The documented event type is a scheduled update message. Whether an update is downloaded and installed depends on the hosting panel or management tool’s update task; a Discord notification alone does not perform an update.

Create a webhook in the intended Discord channel, copy it securely, paste it into the Soulmask hosting panel’s Service Settings, enable Discord messages, and press Execute.
