To set up Discord notifications in Coolify, create an incoming webhook in the Discord text channel that should receive alerts, paste that URL into Coolify’s Discord notification channel, save and enable the channel, select at least one notification event, and send a test. A valid webhook alone is not enough: Coolify also needs the channel enabled and event selections turned on.
What you need before you start
This integration sends Coolify event messages to one Discord text channel through Discord’s incoming-webhook feature. Decide where operational alerts should live before creating the connection. A private channel such as coolify-notifications is usually better for deployment and infrastructure messages than a busy general chat.
- A Discord server where you can manage webhooks.
- An existing text channel, or permission to create one, for the alerts.
- Access to the relevant Coolify team and permission to change its notification settings.
- A list of the events you actually want to receive, so the channel does not become unnecessarily noisy.
The Discord account that creates the webhook must have permission to manage webhooks in the server. In Coolify, notification settings belong to the current team, so a team member without the required notification-settings permission cannot change the channel. Sending a test notification also requires the corresponding Coolify permission.
1. Create an incoming webhook in Discord
Open the server’s webhook settings
- Open Discord and select the server that should receive Coolify alerts.
- Open Server Settings.
- Select Integrations, then Webhooks.
- Select New Webhook.
Choose the destination channel
Give the webhook a recognizable name, such as Coolify. Select the text channel where the messages should appear. The channel selected here is the destination encoded into the webhook connection; choosing a different channel later in Discord does not change a URL already saved in Coolify unless you copy and save the appropriate webhook URL again.

Copy the URL once
Select Copy Webhook URL and keep the value in a secure place while you configure Coolify. The URL contains the credential Coolify uses to post. Do not paste it into a public issue, chat, screen recording, or source repository. Anyone who obtains it can post to the Discord channel.
2. Add the webhook to Coolify
Open the Discord notification channel
- Sign in to Coolify and switch to the team whose notifications you want to change.
- Open Notifications.
- Select Discord.
Save and enable the connection
- Paste the Discord value into the Webhook field.
- Select Save.
- Turn on Enabled.
Save the URL before enabling or testing the channel. Coolify must have the current connection details stored for the test and for later event delivery. If you recreated the Discord webhook, the token portion of the URL may have changed; in that case, replace the old value rather than assuming the previous URL still works.

The Discord channel has a Ping Enabled option. When enabled, Coolify can add @here to critical event notifications. Discord only alerts members who are online and can access that channel, so this is not a guarantee that every team member will see an incident immediately.
Use pings for events where an immediate human response matters, such as a production deployment failure or an unreachable server. Leave pings off for routine successes, frequent restarts, or scheduled jobs that do not require instant attention. You can keep the channel available for all selected events while reserving mentions for the most urgent messages.
4. Select the events Coolify should send
Under Notification Settings, select the individual Coolify events that belong in Discord. Event selections are independent for each notification channel. A selection made for another channel does not automatically apply to Discord.

A practical low-noise starting set
For a small operations channel, start with deployment failures, restart-limit reached, backup failures, the S3-upload warning, scheduled-task failures, disk-usage warnings, server unreachable, Docker cleanup failure, server patching, and outdated Traefik detection. This emphasizes conditions that can require action while avoiding a message for every successful operation.

When to add success events
Add deployment, backup, scheduled-task, or Docker-cleanup successes when the channel is also being used as an operational record. Success notifications are useful for confirming a change window or proving that a backup cycle completed, but they increase message volume. Review the channel after a normal operating period and remove events that do not lead to a decision or follow-up.
5. Send a test notification
- Remain on the Coolify Discord notification settings page after saving the webhook and enabling the channel.
- Confirm that at least one event is selected under Notification Settings.
- Select Send Test Notification.
- Open the Discord text channel chosen for the webhook and verify that the test message appears.
The test checks the current channel credentials and delivery path. It does not reproduce every event-specific trigger, so a successful test proves that Coolify can post through the saved webhook but does not prove that every deployment, backup, scheduled-task, or server event will occur as expected.
If the test appears, trigger-specific behavior can be checked during the next real operation that matches one of the selected events. Keep the event list intentionally small while validating so it is clear which notifications are expected.
Why notifications may still be missing
The channel is saved but not enabled
Coolify requires an enabled channel with valid connection details. Reopen Notifications > Discord and verify that Enabled is on. Saving a URL without enabling the channel does not activate delivery.

No notification event is selected
Credentials and the enabled state are not sufficient by themselves. At least one event must be selected for the Discord channel. Check the boxes under Notification Settings; selections made for another notification channel do not count for Discord.
The webhook points to a different channel
Discord webhooks are tied to their configured destination. Return to the server’s Server Settings > Integrations > Webhooks, open the webhook, and verify the selected channel. Then inspect that exact channel for the test message rather than a similarly named channel.
The webhook was deleted or recreated
Confirm that the webhook still exists in Discord. If it was deleted and recreated, copy the new URL and replace the saved value in Coolify. A recreated webhook can have a different token, making the old URL unusable even when the name and destination channel look unchanged.
The destination channel no longer exists or cannot accept posts
Check that the selected text channel still exists and that the webhook can post there. Channel changes, permission changes, or server housekeeping can invalidate the original destination. Correct the Discord configuration first, then save the current URL in Coolify and send another test.
The URL was not saved before testing
After pasting or replacing the URL, select Save before enabling the channel or sending a test. Otherwise Coolify may still be using the previous stored value.

The person changing settings lacks Coolify permission
Notification settings are stored for the current Coolify team. Make sure the account editing the channel belongs to that team and has permission to update notification settings. The same applies to the permission required for sending a test notification.
A ping is not visible to every member
If a test or event includes @here, Discord limits the alert to members who are online and able to access the channel. Members who are offline, excluded by channel permissions, or viewing another channel may not receive an attention notification even though the message was delivered successfully.

Coolify’s guidance is explicit: “Anyone with the URL can post to the Discord channel.” Treat the URL like a password rather than an ordinary configuration value.
- Store it in an approved password manager or secret-management system while it is not being entered into Coolify.
- Restrict access to the Discord server and to the Coolify team that needs the alerts.
- Do not include the URL in tickets, documentation visible to the wider organization, shell history, or public repositories.
- If the URL appears in a log, screenshot, commit, or message that an untrusted person can read, delete or rotate that Discord webhook and create a replacement.
- Copy the replacement URL into Coolify, select Save, ensure Enabled remains on, and send a fresh test.
Rotating the webhook changes the credential used for posting. Existing Coolify settings do not automatically learn the new token, so the replacement must be saved explicitly.

Separate operational traffic from team discussion
A dedicated text channel keeps deployment and infrastructure messages searchable and prevents a failed deployment from being buried in conversation. If several teams share one Discord server, use separate channels for environments or ownership boundaries and create a webhook in each destination that needs its own alert stream.

Match event scope to the audience
Deployment and resource events are most useful to application owners. Backup and scheduled-task events belong with the people responsible for data protection and automation. Server events generally belong in an infrastructure channel. Selecting events according to audience prevents a broad team channel from receiving details that only one group can act on.

Failures, outages, disk warnings, restart-limit events, and S3-copy warnings are high-urgency signals. Success messages are lower urgency but can provide an audit trail. Before enabling an event, ask whether someone will take a different action when the message appears. If the answer is no, leave that event disabled or place it in a less prominent channel.
A complete setup checklist
- The Discord server and destination text channel are confirmed.
- The account creating the webhook can manage webhooks in that server.
- A webhook with a recognizable name has been created under Server Settings > Integrations > Webhooks.
- The current webhook URL has been copied securely.
- The Coolify team has been selected before editing notification settings.
- The URL is pasted into Notifications > Discord > Webhook.
- Save has been selected.
- Enabled is turned on.
- Ping Enabled is set according to the channel’s urgency policy.
- At least one Discord notification event is selected.
- Send Test Notification has been run and checked in the exact Discord destination channel.
- The URL has not been exposed; if it was, the webhook has been replaced and the new URL saved in Coolify.
What a successful setup proves
A visible test message confirms that the saved Discord webhook can accept a post from Coolify and that the selected delivery path reaches the destination channel. It does not confirm that every event is selected, that every event-specific condition has occurred, or that every intended team member will receive a ping. Those outcomes depend on the event checkboxes, the actual Coolify operation, channel access, and Discord presence rules.
Once the test succeeds, leave only the events that match the channel’s purpose, protect the URL as a secret, and revisit the event list whenever the team, application scope, or incident policy changes.
