To get iCUE working reliably, install the version that supports your operating system, connect and configure each device, then set lighting, cooling, or onboard-memory options that the device actually supports. If a device vanished after an iCUE update, start by connecting it directly to the PC rather than buying a controller or add-on.

Check iCUE compatibility before installing

CORSAIR’s system requirements page lists Windows 10 64-bit or newer, with 1.5 GB of disk space, and macOS 12.7 or newer on a 2015-or-newer Mac, with 500 MB of disk space. The page says iCUE is not supported on Linux and cannot be installed on game consoles. Because that compatibility article was last updated two years before October 2026, check CORSAIR’s current requirements for the iCUE version you plan to install.

Install iCUE

  1. Download and run the iCUE installer from CORSAIR.
  2. Select a language and follow the installer prompts.
  3. Finish installation and restart the computer.

These steps follow CORSAIR’s installation instructions, updated six months before October 2026. After restarting, open iCUE and check whether the connected device appears before moving on to configuration.

Set up device lighting

In iCUE 4 or newer, lighting is configured for a connected device from its own page. CORSAIR’s lighting instructions give this sequence:

CORSAIR RS120 ARGB 120mm PWM Fans – Daisy-Chain Connection – Low-Noise – Magnetic Dome Bearing – Triple Pack – Black
  • Streamlined Fan Connections: Daisy-chain multiple fans together and control them all through just one 4-pin PWM connector and one +5V ARGB connector.
  • Lighting Made Easy: Eight LEDs per fan shine bright with customisable lighting through your motherboard’s built-in ARGB control (requires compatible motherboard).
  • Precise PWM Speeds: Set your fan speeds up to 2,100 RPM while providing up to 72.8 CFM airflow to your system.
  • CORSAIR AirGuide Technology: Anti-vortex vanes direct airflow at your hottest components for concentrated cooling, pushing air in the direction you need when mounted to a radiator or heatsink.
  • High Static Pressure: RS fans work well as radiator fans with a static pressure of 2.8mm-H2O to push through obstructions.
  1. Select the device in iCUE.
  2. If the device uses a controller that requires it, open Lighting Setup and configure the connected lighting hardware first.
  3. Open Lighting Effects and add a layer.
  4. Choose a lighting type and set the applicable zones in Quick Lighting Zone.

A Lighting Link effect can apply across connected, compatible iCUE devices. Available effects and zones depend on the device and controller; do not assume every device exposes the same choices.

Save supported settings to onboard memory

Device Memory Mode can save supported effects and settings to a device’s onboard memory, allowing those settings to operate without iCUE running. In iCUE, select the device and inspect its Device Memory Mode options; both the available settings and the number of memory slots vary by device. CORSAIR explains this in its hardware-lighting guide.

Choose fan cooling and lighting controls

Pick a cooling preset or custom curve

For supported cooling hardware, iCUE offers three preset modes: Quiet prioritizes lower noise, Balanced balances noise and cooling, and Extreme prioritizes cooling. A custom mode can use a temperature sensor with a fixed percentage, fixed RPM, or a custom curve. The available controls depend on the connected hardware. CORSAIR describes these options in its fan-control and system-lighting instructions, dated February 28, 2024; labels may differ in later releases.

Configure system lighting with a controller

If your setup uses a Commander Pro or Lighting Node Pro, select the lighting device in iCUE, open Lighting Setup, choose the connected device types and counts for each channel, and then adjust the lighting. The controller is relevant only to setups that use compatible hardware; it is not a general requirement for iCUE and does not repair a software detection problem.

Enable optional software and lighting integrations

iCUE can connect with select software, games, and devices. CORSAIR’s integration instructions say to open Settings and enable the desired integrations. In iCUE 5.14 and newer, the relevant menu is labeled iCUE SDK and Game SDK under SDK settings; check the installed version because labels can vary.

Why is a device not showing up in iCUE?

If the problem began after an iCUE update, CORSAIR’s post-update detection guide recommends trying these steps in order. They address that specific post-update scenario and are not a guarantee for every detection failure.

  1. Connect directly to the PC. Plug the device into a USB port on the computer, not a hub, switch, or pass-through, and check whether it appears in iCUE.
  2. Repair iCUE. In Windows, open Installed Apps (or Apps & Features on Windows 10), select iCUE, choose Modify, and follow the repair prompts. CORSAIR’s iCUE 5 repair instructions note that the repair may need to be repeated.
  3. Clean reinstall if repair does not help. Uninstall iCUE, reinstall it using CORSAIR’s installation instructions, and check detection again.
  4. Contact CORSAIR support if the device remains missing.

Choose settings and hardware for the setup you have

Before changing the setup or adding hardware, identify the goal and verify compatibility for the exact device. The key distinctions are whether you want software-controlled lighting or a setting saved to onboard memory, whether your hardware supports fan control, whether your controller has the required channels and device configuration, and whether you want optional integrations. The cited CORSAIR guides describe these capabilities but do not provide an exhaustive model-by-model compatibility list, so check the device’s own iCUE options and current product documentation.
