Turn on the Infinix HOT 70 Pro 5G, connect it to Wi‑Fi, and start the transfer when the Android setup wizard asks whether you want to copy apps and data. For an Android phone, use a compatible data cable or the wireless option; for an iPhone, follow the iPhone-specific prompts and turn off iMessage before switching. Keep the old phone unlocked, charged, and available until you have checked your contacts, messages, photos, files, and essential apps.

This guide follows Google’s general Android setup instructions. Infinix uses XOS, so wording and available screens can differ by software version, region, or update. The India product listing identifies the phone as model X6896, with XOS 16 based on Android 16, 5G, USB Type‑C, two nano-SIM slots, and a microSD slot. Infinix also uses the name “HOT 70 Pro 5G” in its July 16, 2026 announcement, while the product page displays “Hot 70 Pro.”

What to prepare before turning on the new phone

A few minutes of preparation prevents most failed transfers. Gather both phones, their charging equipment, and the credentials needed to unlock and restore them.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Charge and unlock both phones

  • Charge the old phone and the Infinix before starting. A long transfer can run from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the amount of data.
  • Make sure you know the old phone’s PIN, pattern, or password. The transfer wizard may require it even if the old phone is already unlocked.
  • Keep the old phone close by and do not erase or trade it in until the new phone has been checked.

Connect to the internet and check storage

  • Connect the old phone to Wi‑Fi. Connect the Infinix to Wi‑Fi when setup requests it; Google recommends Wi‑Fi for both devices.
  • Check available storage on the Infinix. If the old phone contains more photos, videos, downloads, or app data than the new phone can hold, decide what to leave behind or move to cloud storage.
  • Sign in to the Google Account used for backups on the old Android phone. This makes backup restoration and app downloads more complete.

Prepare a SIM tool and, if needed, a cable

Have a SIM eject tool ready if you will move a physical SIM. The HOT 70 Pro 5G listing specifies nano-SIM slots. Its USB Type‑C port makes a wired transfer possible, but the old phone may use USB‑C, Micro‑USB, or another connector. A cable must fit both phones and support data, not only charging. An adapter may be required. Check the old phone’s port and the cable’s data capability before buying anything; Infinix does not establish that a transfer cable is included.

Identify the phone and start setup

Confirm the model

Look for “HOT 70 Pro 5G” on the box or announcement material. Infinix’s India product page associates “Hot 70 Pro” with model X6896 and lists XOS 16 powered by Android 16. The naming difference does not by itself indicate a different setup process, but model and regional software can affect the exact prompts.

Begin the first-run wizard

  1. Insert the nano-SIM card now or choose to do it later. If you are moving a SIM, power down the old phone before removing it and follow the tray orientation shown on the Infinix.
  2. Press and hold the power button, select your language and region, and accept the displayed terms.
  3. Join a Wi‑Fi network when prompted. Let the phone install any setup-time update if it requires one and keep it connected to power if the update is lengthy.
  4. When the wizard offers to copy apps and data from an old device, choose that option. Starting here matters: Google says the direct copy option may not be available after setup is complete.
  5. Sign in to your Google Account when asked. Use the account that contains the backup you want to restore.

Labels on XOS may not exactly match Google’s “Copy apps & data” wording. Follow the screen that refers to copying, restoring, or transferring from an old phone rather than relying on a memorized menu path.

Transfer from an Android phone

Google’s Android-to-Android setup flow offers cable and wireless methods. In that documented flow, both methods support the same categories of data, but the actual choices and prompts can vary on the Infinix and the old phone.

  • Move Files Fast: Transfer music, movies, or entire seasons of TV shows in seconds at 40 Gbps.
  • HD Display: Connect your laptop to an external monitor to mirror or extend your screen in up to 8K@60Hz or 4K@144Hz.
  • Huge Range of Power: Supports a maximum 240W charge when paired up with a compatible charger. Charge virtually any USB-C device from phones and accessories to laptops.
  • Built to Last: Proven in lab tests to withstand up to 5,000 bends.
  • What You Get: Anker 515 USB-C to USB-C Cable (USB4, 3.3ft), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.

Option A: use a cable

  1. At the copy-data screen, select the cable option.
  2. Connect the two phones with a data-capable cable. If the connectors differ, attach a compatible adapter. Do not force a plug into either port.
  3. Unlock the old phone and approve the connection and copy requests that appear on it.
  4. Choose the data categories or the recommended selection. If storage is tight, deselect large videos, old downloads, or apps you no longer use.
  5. Leave both phones connected and undisturbed until the Infinix reports that copying is finished. Keep them charging if the cable and available accessories allow it.

A charging-only cable, a loose connector, or an adapter that does not carry data can make the cable method fail. Reconnect firmly, try another known data cable, or switch to wireless transfer.

Option B: transfer wirelessly

  1. Choose the wireless option when the Infinix presents transfer methods.
  2. Keep both phones near each other, unlocked, and connected to Wi‑Fi. Follow the pairing or confirmation instructions on both screens.
  3. Approve the transfer on the old phone, select what to copy, and leave both devices alone until completion.

Wireless transfer avoids connector and adapter problems but can be slower or unavailable in some combinations. Google’s troubleshooting guidance says the setup may recommend a cable when wireless transfer is unavailable or too slow.

Cable versus wireless at a glance

Consideration Cable Wireless
Physical compatibility Both phones need ports that the data cable and any adapter support. No transfer cable is needed, but both phones must support the wireless setup flow.
Charging during transfer A cable occupies the relevant ports; charging arrangements depend on the phones and accessories. Each phone can normally remain on its own charger while transferring.
Prompts Select the cable route and approve the connection on the old phone. Select wireless, pair or confirm the devices, and follow the on-screen instructions.
When to choose it Use it when you have a confirmed data cable and compatible connectors. Use it when no suitable cable is available or the setup specifically offers wireless transfer.

Restore from a Google Account backup when the old Android phone is unavailable

  1. On the Infinix setup wizard, choose the option to restore from a backup instead of copying directly from a nearby phone.
  2. Sign in with the Google Account that made the backup.
  3. Select the listed backup. The restore process may ask for the old phone’s screen-lock credential.
  4. Choose the data and apps offered by the restore screen, then allow downloads to continue over Wi‑Fi.

A cloud restore is not a complete substitute for a direct copy. Items that were never backed up, data belonging to non-Google accounts, and app data unsupported by Android backup will not appear merely because you signed in.

Transfer from an iPhone

Use the iPhone-transfer route shown by the Infinix setup wizard rather than assuming that every iPhone item is supported. Available data depends on the phones, the selected method, and the apps involved.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Prepare the iPhone

  1. Charge and unlock the iPhone.
  2. Connect it to Wi‑Fi and check that the Infinix has enough free storage for the items you intend to move.
  3. Turn off iMessage on the iPhone before completing the switch. In the iPhone, open Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage. This helps future text messages route normally to the Android phone.
  4. Keep the iPhone available until contacts, photos, messages, and other important information have been checked on the Infinix.

Run the iPhone copy flow

  1. On the Infinix, select the option to copy data from an iPhone when it appears.
  2. Follow the requested connection method and any verification steps on both phones.
  3. Choose the categories offered by the wizard and wait for the completion message before disconnecting.
  4. Open the transferred apps and services. Sign in again where requested; an iPhone login or subscription does not guarantee that the Android version will already be authenticated.

Do not erase the iPhone until you have confirmed that the data you actually need arrived and that you can receive calls and texts on the new number.

What normally transfers, and what needs separate handling

Android’s setup-copy process can move many common categories, but it is not a byte-for-byte clone. Results vary with the two phones, Android versions, app backup support, and the transfer method.

Data type What to expect Action before or after setup
Installed apps Many apps can be selected or downloaded again from Google Play. Open important apps and sign in. Check that paid, work, banking, and authenticator apps have their own recovery process.
App data Some app data transfers; apps that do not use Android backup may not. Use the app’s own export, cloud backup, or account-sync feature where available.
Contacts Contacts stored on the phone or SIM may transfer; account-synced contacts depend on that account being added. Open Contacts and verify several entries, including names, numbers, and groups.
Text messages Many SMS and MMS messages can be copied in Android setup. Open the messaging app and check recent and older conversations.
Photos and videos Camera media and other visible photos may transfer. Check recent albums and a few older items. Hidden-folder media is specifically not guaranteed.
Music Some music can be copied, depending on where it is stored and how it was obtained. Redownload streaming content or files that were not included.
Call history Call history is among the categories Google lists for Android setup copy. Check the Phone app after setup.
Settings and wallpaper Many settings and wallpaper may transfer, but some settings are version- or manufacturer-specific. Review display, notification, privacy, and accessibility settings manually.
Downloads and PDFs Downloads such as PDFs are not guaranteed to copy. Back up important files separately or copy them after setup, then check the Files app.
Media in hidden folders Not guaranteed by the standard setup copy. Move it from the old phone’s file manager or cloud service before erasing the old phone.
Apps installed outside Google Play Not guaranteed to transfer. Reinstall only from a source you trust and confirm that the app supports Android 16.
Non-Google accounts and their data They may not be included in Google’s setup restore. Add each account on the Infinix and use its own synchronization or export tools.
Ringtones and certain manufacturer settings Not guaranteed. Recreate them manually after confirming the files are present.

WhatsApp chats

Google says WhatsApp chats and data can restore from the cloud after you sign in to the new Android phone and open WhatsApp, provided WhatsApp backups were enabled on the old phone first. Before switching, open WhatsApp on the old phone and confirm that a recent backup exists. On the Infinix, install or open WhatsApp, use the same account details, and accept the restore prompt. If no backup was made, the standard Android setup copy should not be treated as a guaranteed chat migration.

Finish setup and verify the important data

Complete security and connectivity settings

  • Create the Infinix screen lock and record it somewhere secure.
  • Set up fingerprint or other offered unlock methods only after the primary PIN or password is known.
  • Check the mobile network, calls, SMS, and mobile data after inserting the SIM.
  • Install pending system and app updates over Wi‑Fi.
  • Add accounts that were not part of the main Google restore.

Use a priority verification checklist

  1. Place a call and send or receive a text message.
  2. Open Contacts and verify several key people.
  3. Open Photos and Files, checking recent pictures, older albums, documents, and any work files.
  4. Open messaging, banking, authentication, password-manager, navigation, and work apps. Confirm sign-in and recovery options.
  5. Open WhatsApp and confirm that the expected chat history is present.
  6. Check call history, calendar entries, alarms, and notification settings.

Only after these checks should you factory-reset, sell, recycle, or hand back the old phone.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Troubleshoot a transfer that fails or stops

The transfer pauses or a phone powers off

Reconnect both phones to power, unlock the old phone, and restart the transfer from the setup prompt if it is still available. Google says a transfer can often be restarted after a lost connection or power interruption. Avoid switching between Wi‑Fi networks while the copy is running.

  • Durable Design: Reinforced nylon exterior and a robust core ensure this cable withstands up to 5,000 bends, outlasting other brands
  • Fast Charging: Supports Power Delivery for up to 60W high-speed charging when paired with a USB-C charger

  • High-Speed Data Transfer: Transfer files quickly with 480Mbps data transfer speeds
  • Included Accessories: Comes with a hook-and-loop cable tie for easy organization and a welcome guide for hassle-free setup

The cable is not detected

  • Confirm that the connector fits both phones and that the cable supports data.
  • Disconnect and reconnect both ends while the phones are unlocked.
  • Try a compatible data adapter if the ports differ.
  • If the cable still fails, return to the transfer-method screen and choose wireless.

Wireless transfer is missing or very slow

Keep the phones close together, connect both to stable Wi‑Fi, and close unnecessary transfer-heavy activity. If the setup recommends a cable, use a confirmed data cable and suitable adapter. The exact fallback options depend on the devices.

The Infinix reports insufficient storage

Return to the selection screen and remove large videos, old downloads, duplicate files, or apps that can be reinstalled later. For supported categories, use cloud backup and download only what you need. Do not delete the original files from the old phone until the replacement copies have been opened and checked.

Setup is already complete

Direct transfer choices after setup vary by device. Look in the Infinix’s Settings for a data-copy or setup-resume option, or restart the setup only if the phone offers that path. A factory reset may be required in some cases, but it erases data already created on the new phone. Back up new photos, messages, files, and accounts first, confirm that nothing unique is stored only on the Infinix, and then follow the phone’s reset instructions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Key decisions for a smooth migration

  • Start copying during first-run setup; do not assume the option will remain available later.
  • Choose cable when both connectors and data support are confirmed; choose wireless when they are not.
  • Keep the old phone unlocked, powered, and connected until verification is complete.
  • Treat app-specific data, hidden media, downloads, non-Google accounts, and iPhone-specific content as separate checks.
  • Protect anything newly created on the Infinix before considering a reset to repeat setup.
