Start by confirming that your phone is the India-market OPPO F35 5G (model CPH2931) and checking the ColorOS version shown in About phone or About device. OPPO lists ColorOS 16.0 for this model, but software labels and features can change with region and over-the-air updates. Once the model is confirmed, install pending updates, secure the lock screen, review emergency alerts, and then tune display, storage, permissions, and accessories to your preferences.
- Use the labels visible on your handset if a menu differs from the paths below.
- The specifications discussed here are for OPPO India’s CPH2931 listing; another regional F35 variant may differ.
- “Essential” means useful checks, not mandatory personalization changes.
1. Verify the model, region, and ColorOS version
Before changing settings, open Settings > About phone (sometimes shown as About device). Check the model number and software information. The OPPO India specification identifies the F35 5G as CPH2931 and lists ColorOS 16.0. OPPO also notes that operating-system information is for reference and may change, so the version on your handset is the one that determines the menus you will see.
This distinction matters if your phone was imported, bought from a different market, or received a later OTA rollout. Cellular bands, enabled services, and even the wording of a setting can vary by region or build. If the model number is not CPH2931, use the support material for the model shown on your phone rather than assuming every F35 behaves identically.

What to record before you continue
- Model number, such as CPH2931.
- ColorOS and Android version displayed in About phone.
- Available internal storage, because system software already occupies part of the advertised capacity.
- SIM and network status after you insert your cards.
Take a screenshot of the About phone page if you need to contact OPPO support later. It gives support staff the exact software and model context for a menu or update problem.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
2. Check what is in the box and install the SIM
OPPO lists a charger, USB data cable, protective case, SIM-ejector tool, and Quick Guide among the box contents, while warning that contents can vary by market. Check the packaging before buying accessories: an additional charger or case may be unnecessary if those items are included with your unit.
Insert the correct SIM cards
The India specification lists two nano-SIM slots. Power the phone off if the tray instructions or your carrier require it, use the supplied ejector tool, and place each nano-SIM in the orientation shown on the tray. After booting, open the SIM or mobile-network section in Settings and confirm that each line has the expected carrier name and signal.
Network service still depends on your carrier’s coverage and deployment. Do not assume that a different regional F35 has the same bands or services as the India model. If a SIM is detected but cannot register, verify activation with the carrier before changing unrelated phone settings.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Connect to trusted Wi-Fi
Join a trusted Wi-Fi network during setup so large system and app updates do not consume mobile data. The India specification lists Wi-Fi 5 support. Public or unknown networks are best avoided for account sign-in and banking until you can verify that the connection is genuine.
3. Sign in to the accounts you actually plan to use
Complete Google account sign-in only for accounts the owner intends to keep on the phone. A Google account enables Play Store downloads, backup choices, and Google Play system updates. If this is a child’s or a work-managed phone, use the account and management process required by that organization instead of adding a personal account first.
After sign-in, review backup prompts rather than accepting every option automatically. Decide whether photos, contacts, device settings, and app data should be backed up, and check which account will store them. This prevents a later restore from pulling data into the wrong account.

Confirm mobile data and calling
- Make a short call from each active SIM.
- Send and receive an SMS if your plan uses SMS verification.
- Test mobile data with Wi-Fi temporarily disabled.
- Check the default SIM choices for calls, messages, and data if two SIMs are installed.
These checks identify carrier or SIM problems before you spend time customizing the home screen.
4. Install system and Google Play updates before customizing
Updates can change security behavior and menu labels, so install them before settling on a layout. OPPO’s general support guidance for ColorOS 12 and later uses Settings > About device, then the update card at the top of that page. Your F35 may place the control elsewhere; use the Settings search field for “software update” or “system update” if the card is not visible.
System-update procedure
- Connect the F35 to trusted Wi-Fi and, if the battery is low, connect the charger.
- Open Settings > About device and select the update card, or search Settings for software update.
- Read the displayed version, download size, and restart requirement.
- Install only when you can leave the phone undisturbed through the restart.
- Return to the same page after reboot and confirm whether another update remains.
Do not expect a particular version number, delivery date, or support lifetime; none is guaranteed by the cited OPPO material. Availability depends on rollout, region, and the software already installed on your handset.
Update Google Play system components
In About phone or the Security and privacy area, search Settings for Google Play system update. Install any offered update and restart if requested. OPPO’s F35 specification recommends signing in to a Google account and updating Google Play system components for the latest Cell Broadcast Service function. The exact page name can differ by ColorOS build, so use the live search result on your phone.
5. Set a secure lock screen, then add biometrics if useful
Set a strong screen lock before adding banking, work, or personal data. Choose a PIN, password, or pattern that other people cannot guess. A longer PIN or password is generally harder to observe or brute-force than a short, familiar number.

- Open Settings and search for screen lock, lock-screen password, or Password & security.
- Create and confirm the primary PIN, password, or pattern.
- Set the automatic-lock interval to a period that balances convenience and exposure when the phone is left unattended.
- If desired, enroll an under-screen fingerprint using the on-screen prompts.
- If desired, enroll facial recognition and read whether the phone warns that face unlock is less secure than a password.
The official specification confirms under-screen fingerprint and facial recognition support, but the reviewed OPPO pages do not establish a single ColorOS 16 enrollment path. Follow the labels shown on your build. Keep the primary lock method available: the phone can require it after a restart, after a security timeout, or when biometric recognition fails.

Decide what appears on the lock screen
Review notification and message-preview choices while you are in the lock-screen settings. If other people may see the phone, hide sensitive content while keeping alerts available. The exact ColorOS 16 path for preview controls was not established in the cited material, so use Settings search for “lock screen notifications” or “notification content” rather than relying on a path from another model.
6. Review emergency alerts and privacy protections
The F35 specification says the phone supports Cell Broadcast Service and points to Wireless emergency alerts in Settings. Open that page and confirm that alerts are configured for your country or region. Review categories, sound behavior, vibration, and reminders according to local requirements and your circumstances.
Do not switch emergency alerts off simply to reduce notification noise. They can carry location-specific warnings that ordinary app notifications do not. If you travel, check whether the phone or carrier offers separate controls for the current network.

Permission and anti-fraud controls
OPPO advertises permission and anti-fraud protections, but qualifies that feature availability varies and that protection is not absolute. Treat these controls as optional safeguards only when they appear on your installed software. Review permissions as apps request them, especially for:
- Camera and microphone access.
- Location, including whether an app needs it all the time or only while in use.
- Contacts and call logs.
- Notifications and access to photos or files.
Grant the least access that still lets an app perform its stated function. Revisit permissions after major updates because an app can request a new capability later.
7. Choose a display refresh rate that matches your priorities
The F35 supports adaptive 60, 90, and 120 Hz refresh rates. Higher refresh rates can make scrolling and compatible animations look smoother; an adaptive or lower setting may better suit someone who prioritizes reduced power use. OPPO’s cited material does not provide a controlled F35 battery comparison for these modes, so treat this as a preference rather than a promised battery-life gain.

| Setting | Best fit | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| 60 Hz | Readers who prefer the simplest, lowest-refresh option | Less fluid motion than 90 or 120 Hz; no OPPO-published battery result is attached to this choice. |
| 90 Hz | A middle ground for everyday scrolling | Smoother than 60 Hz without selecting the highest fixed rate. |
| 120 Hz | Readers who value maximum supported smoothness | Most fluid supported mode in compatible interfaces; power impact varies with use. |
| Adaptive | Readers who want the phone to choose among supported rates | Balances smoothness and activity automatically; behavior depends on ColorOS and the app. |
Look for Display & brightness, Screen refresh rate, or search Settings for “refresh rate.” The label and location can change after an update.
Set a wallpaper without obscuring controls
For ColorOS 16, OPPO Support lists Settings > Home screen, Lock screen & style > Wallpapers. If your phone shows a different route, search Settings for “wallpaper.” Choose an image that leaves the clock, notification icons, and app labels readable rather than assuming a darker or brighter picture is always better.
8. Understand storage before installing large apps
OPPO lists two India-market memory configurations:
| Configuration | Advertised internal storage | Expansion information |
|---|---|---|
| 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage | 128 GB, with some space used by system software | Storage card supported; maximum capacity and format are not stated on the reviewed OPPO page. |
| 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage | 128 GB, with some space used by system software | Storage card supported; maximum capacity and format are not stated on the reviewed OPPO page. |
Open the Storage page after setup to see the actual free space. Leave room for updates and offline media rather than filling the drive on day one.
Adding a storage card
The official specification says a storage card is supported, but does not state a maximum capacity or card format. Confirm compatibility on the phone or in the manual for your regional unit before buying a card. If the card is not recognized, power the phone down, reseat it, check the tray orientation, and test the card in another device. Do not format a card containing files you have not backed up.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.9. Review app permissions and notification behavior
Install only the apps you expect to use, then inspect each permission request in context. A navigation app may need location while in use; a simple calculator should not need contacts. Camera and microphone permissions deserve particular attention because they can expose private spaces or conversations.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsA practical first-day permission check
- Open Settings and search for App permissions, Permission manager, or the name of a specific app.
- Review camera, microphone, location, contacts, phone, photos, files, and notifications.
- Change access from “always” to “while in use” where the app does not need background access.
- Disable notifications that are promotional or irrelevant, while keeping account-security and emergency notices enabled.
- Repeat the review after installing a major app or accepting a significant app update.
ColorOS labels can vary, so follow the permission page that your version presents. The important result is an intentional choice for each sensitive capability, not a specific menu sequence.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
10. Test the camera, document scanning, and backup choices
The specification lists a 50 MP front camera and camera modes including document scanning. Open the camera once, switch among the available modes, and take a test image in the lighting you normally use. There is no evidence that a particular camera default must be changed on every F35, so keep the defaults unless they conflict with your needs.
If you scan receipts or forms, check where document scans are saved and whether your chosen backup service uploads them automatically. Sensitive documents may deserve local storage or a protected account instead of unrestricted sharing.
11. Choose compatible audio accessories
The F35 supports Type-C digital headphones. Analog Type-C headphones are not supported according to the cited specification, so an inexpensive passive adapter or analog headset may not work. When buying headphones, verify that they are digital USB Type-C models or use a compatible active adapter identified for your phone.
Audio is optional to setup; test your existing headset before relying on it for calls. If calls sound wrong, check the Bluetooth or USB audio output selected in the quick settings and confirm that the accessory is charged or firmly connected.
12. Know what the India specification does not promise
- NFC: OPPO’s India specification says NFC is unsupported. Do not plan contactless payments or tag automation around this model without a feature explicitly shown on your own regional unit.
- eSIM: The same specification says eSIM is unsupported, so activation requires a compatible physical SIM.
- Identical regional features: OPPO warns that specifications and feature availability can vary by region and software rollout.
- Specific update schedules: No guaranteed version, delivery date, or support lifetime is established.
- Maximum memory-card size: The reviewed page confirms card support but gives no maximum capacity or format.
These limits prevent an imported or carrier-supplied phone from being treated as identical to the CPH2931 India listing.
13. A concise first-day checklist
| Priority | Action | Where to verify |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Confirm model and ColorOS version | Settings > About phone/About device |
| 2 | Connect to trusted Wi-Fi and verify SIM service | Wi-Fi and mobile-network settings; test a call and mobile data |
| 3 | Install system and Google Play updates | About device update card or Settings search |
| 4 | Create a strong lock and optionally enroll biometrics | Settings search for screen lock, fingerprint, or face |
| 5 | Review Wireless emergency alerts | Settings search for Wireless emergency alerts |
| 6 | Choose refresh rate and wallpaper | Display settings; Home screen, Lock screen & style |
| 7 | Check storage and permissions | Storage and Permission manager pages |
| 8 | Test camera and audio accessories | Camera app and Type-C digital-headphone connection |
Once these checks are complete, the F35 is ready for normal use without relying on assumptions about another region, an older ColorOS build, or an unsupported accessory.
