To set up an NVIDIA RTX Spark system, identify the exact laptop or compact-desktop model, connect its power and required peripherals, complete the manufacturer’s Windows 11 onboarding, allow all initial reboots to finish, then install the OEM’s certified Arm64 firmware and drivers before adding NVIDIA software and applications. RTX Spark uses Windows on Arm, so native Arm64 applications are the safest choice; x64 programs can work through Windows compatibility technology, but every critical application, plug-in, anti-cheat component and device driver should be tested on your specific model.
What RTX Spark is and what Windows 11 setup involves
RTX Spark is a Windows-on-Arm platform that combines a Blackwell RTX GPU and an Arm-based NVIDIA Grace CPU in one system-on-chip with unified memory. NVIDIA lists configurations with up to 6,144 RTX GPU cores, up to 20 Grace CPU cores and up to 128 GB of unified LPDDR5X memory. Microsoft describes the platform as delivering up to 1 petaflop of FP4 AI performance. Availability is scheduled to begin on October 16, 2026.
The hardware is sold through different laptop and compact-desktop designs. Windows 11 is the supported operating system, but the exact first-boot screens, firmware bundle, cooling limits, ports and included accessories are determined by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). There is no single RTX Spark BIOS procedure, recovery image or driver version that applies to every system.
“RTX Spark combines NVIDIA’s full technology stack with Microsoft Windows and is purpose-built for creators, gamers and AI developers in the personal AI era.”

NVIDIA describes the underlying design as a Blackwell RTX GPU with fifth-generation Tensor Cores, connected through NVLink-C2C to a Grace CPU and running Windows 11. The shared-memory design is useful for local AI and graphics workloads, but it also means that memory capacity, cooling and power limits vary substantially between OEM implementations.
Check the exact OEM model before powering it on
Write down the complete model number and regional variant from the chassis label, shipping carton or purchase record. Use that identity on the manufacturer’s support site. The OEM support page is the authority for BIOS or UEFI firmware, chipset, power-management, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, storage, display and other device packages.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Confirm that the machine is an RTX Spark model and that its support page lists Windows 11 on Arm64.
- Download the model’s setup guide and current firmware notes before changing BIOS settings.
- Check which display outputs, storage options, memory capacity and power adapter the particular configuration includes.
- Record the serial number and keep the purchase and warranty information available in case a firmware recovery is needed.
Do not substitute a driver or firmware package intended for a similar-looking model. Notebook vendors certify packages against their own motherboard, thermal design and power-management settings.
Prepare the workspace and connections
Laptop
Connect the supplied power adapter and use the built-in display. Keep the laptop on a hard, ventilated surface so the first update cycle is not interrupted by thermal throttling or an empty battery. Attach Ethernet or join a reliable Wi-Fi network before starting setup if possible.
Compact desktop
Connect a monitor through the output specified by the OEM, using HDMI or DisplayPort as appropriate, then attach a keyboard and mouse. HDMI and DisplayPort are supported by the RTX Spark platform, but the number and type of sockets are model-dependent. A suitable HDMI cable is therefore a useful desktop accessory, while a laptop may not require an external display at all. If the desktop has no built-in display, it cannot complete onboarding until a monitor and input devices are connected.

- Power on. Start the system with the power adapter connected. The OEM may show a custom logo or additional hardware-registration page before Windows appears.
- Choose region and keyboard. Select the correct country or region, keyboard layout and any additional layout requested by Windows.
- Connect to the internet. Join Wi-Fi or connect Ethernet when prompted. A reliable connection is important because Windows and OEM components may be downloaded during onboarding.
- Sign in. Follow the account and authentication screens supplied by Windows and the OEM. The available choices can differ between consumer and business editions.
- Review privacy and device settings. Select the options appropriate for the intended user and organization.
- Allow setup to finish. Windows may restart several times. Keep power and network connected and do not force a shutdown while the progress screen is active.
Microsoft and NVIDIA confirm Windows 11 support for RTX Spark, but they do not publish one universal onboarding sequence. The OEM image can add registration, recovery or account screens, so do not treat another manufacturer’s screenshots as a required sequence.
Install updates without interrupting reboots
After reaching the Windows desktop, open Settings > Windows Update, select Check for updates, install the offered updates and restart when requested. Repeat the check until Windows reports that the system is current. Also run the OEM’s update utility, if supplied, and apply its firmware and device updates in the manufacturer’s stated order.
- Keep the adapter connected throughout firmware and driver installation.
- Do not close the lid, hold the power button or unplug the desktop during a firmware flash or automatic reboot.
- Allow extra time after a restart; display output can remain blank temporarily while firmware initializes.
- If an update fails, record its package name and error code before attempting another installation.
Interrupting the first installation cycle can leave Windows or the OEM firmware incomplete and may require the manufacturer’s recovery procedure.
Install OEM-certified drivers first
Open the support page for the exact model and select its Windows 11 on Arm64 downloads. Install the packages the OEM marks as required, normally including firmware, chipset or platform components, graphics, networking, audio and power-management software. Follow the vendor’s order rather than relying on a generic package sequence.

| Package or source | Use it when | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| OEM firmware and device drivers | Always install these first for the exact model. | They are certified against that system’s motherboard, cooling and power design. |
| NVIDIA App | The OEM image does not include it or an update is offered for the supported model. | Confirm model support before applying optional driver updates. |
| Game Ready Driver | The system is primarily used for supported games. | Use only a package that NVIDIA and the OEM identify as compatible with the device. |
| Studio Driver | The system is primarily used with supported creative applications. | Availability and certification can vary by OEM implementation. |
Install the NVIDIA App only after the OEM baseline is working. If it offers a newer Game Ready or Studio package, compare the package notes with the OEM support page before replacing a certified driver. If a graphics update causes display, sleep or performance problems, reinstall the OEM package and report the issue to the manufacturer.
Choose applications for Windows on Arm
Native Arm64 applications generally provide the most predictable installation, update behavior and performance. For every important program, check the publisher’s system requirements for an Arm64 build or Arm64EC support. Do not assume that an x64 installer will behave like its desktop equivalent.
Classify each application before deployment
- Native Arm64: Prefer this option for browsers, productivity tools, development environments and other software available in an Arm build.
- Arm64EC or supported x64: These may run through Windows on Arm compatibility technology, but confirm the publisher’s support statement and test updates.
- Driver-dependent software: Hardware control panels, security tools, VPN clients, audio interfaces, scanners and capture cards require Arm64-compatible drivers; emulation cannot make an x64 kernel driver load.
- Plug-in and anti-cheat software: A main application can run while a plug-in, mod loader or game anti-cheat component fails. Validate the complete stack, not just the installer.
Use a validation checklist
- Install the application on the fully updated system.
- Confirm that Windows identifies the process and any helper components as supported for Arm64 or Arm64EC.
- Open a representative project or workload and enable hardware acceleration.
- Test plug-ins, fonts, codecs, sign-in modules, anti-cheat and connected devices used by the real workflow.
- Install one update and restart to verify that the application remains functional.
- Measure the task that matters to you—such as export, compile, render or game launch—rather than assuming compatibility from installation alone.
NVIDIA’s Windows-on-Arm guidance recommends reviewing dependencies and validating installation, updates, functionality and performance before moving a critical workflow to production.

RTX Spark is designed for local AI workloads. NVIDIA’s PAIR documentation provides a native Windows ARM64 installer and first-run instructions for engines including llama.cpp, Ollama and LM Studio.
- Download the native Windows ARM64 installer from the PAIR documentation or the engine publisher’s supported distribution.
- Install only the engine required for your intended workflow, rather than adding several overlapping runtimes.
- Launch the engine and select an appropriate model for the system’s available unified memory.
- Check the application’s device or acceleration panel and confirm that it reports the NVIDIA accelerator instead of silently using the CPU.
- Run a small prompt or inference test, then monitor memory use and thermals before loading a larger model.
Model size, context length and quantization can change memory consumption substantially. The platform’s maximum memory figure is not a promise that every OEM system has that capacity, so use the amount installed in your machine when selecting models.

If several OEM systems are available, compare the implementation rather than the RTX Spark name alone. NVIDIA lists both higher configurations with up to 6,144 GPU cores and 20 CPU cores and lower configurations with up to 5,120 GPU cores and 18 CPU cores. Memory capacity and power can vary by system.

Troubleshoot common first-setup problems
No picture on a compact desktop
Verify that the monitor is on the input connected to the computer, reseat the HDMI or DisplayPort cable and try the connector specified in the OEM guide. If the system has multiple outputs, test the one documented for initial setup. Avoid adding an unverified dock or adapter until the direct connection works.
Windows update or firmware update appears stuck
Keep the system on AC power and wait through the manufacturer’s stated update window. Do not force a shutdown during a firmware flash. If Windows eventually returns an error, capture the code and use the OEM’s recovery or support instructions; there is no universal RTX Spark recovery image documented for every model.
Graphics performance or sleep behavior changes after a driver update
Check whether the update came from the OEM or from a generic NVIDIA package. Reinstall the OEM-certified graphics and power-management packages, reboot, and test again. Report the model, firmware revision and driver version to the OEM if the problem remains.
An application installs but a feature does not work
Check the application’s Arm64 or Arm64EC status and inspect every dependency, plug-in and device driver. Test with hardware acceleration disabled and enabled to distinguish an application compatibility issue from a graphics-driver issue. Ask the publisher whether its anti-cheat, codec, extension or kernel component supports Windows on Arm.
An AI engine uses the CPU instead of the RTX accelerator
Install the native Arm64 build, update the OEM and NVIDIA components supported for the model, and inspect the engine’s device-selection or diagnostic screen. If the accelerator is still absent, verify that the engine version explicitly supports the RTX Spark environment before changing models or settings.
Maintain the system after setup
- Keep Windows, OEM firmware and certified drivers current, but read release notes before replacing a working graphics package.
- Create a recovery drive or backup using the OEM’s documented method rather than assuming a generic Windows image will restore every device function.
- Record the installed firmware and driver versions after a successful setup.
- Keep ventilation paths clear, especially on a compact desktop operating sustained AI or rendering workloads.
- When adding a new application or peripheral, verify Arm64 support and test it separately before incorporating it into a critical workflow.
The safest RTX Spark setup is therefore model-specific: establish the OEM baseline first, use NVIDIA packages only where that baseline permits them, and validate each important Windows application and dependency on Arm.
