Amazon’s AI listening puck is Bee Eclipse. It is a slim, credit-card-sized device that attaches magnetically to the back of your phone. Install the Bee app, sign in, attach Eclipse, press its button once to capture a conversation, and press it again to stop. The app then turns the recording into summaries, memories, insights, reminders and follow-up tasks. It is not set up like an Echo Bluetooth speaker.

What Amazon’s “AI listening puck” actually is

Amazon Bee Eclipse is the phone-mounted member of Amazon’s Bee personal-AI family. Amazon describes it as a slim, lightweight device about the size of a credit card that attaches to the back of a phone magnetically. Its purpose is to capture conversations and turn them into useful information rather than to play music or answer general voice commands like a conventional smart speaker.

Amazon says Bee remembers what matters from conversations and produces useful insights and reminders. After a capture session, the Bee mobile app can present a summary, recap, extracted action items, suggested follow-ups and other memories. Bee Eclipse is designed for people who normally carry a phone and want the recorder with them during calls, meetings, errands or conversations. Bee Frontier is the related wearable or clip-on model for people who prefer a device on clothing or a wrist.

The most important setup distinction is that Eclipse is documented as a magnetic phone attachment. Amazon’s materials do not describe an Echo-style Bluetooth-speaker pairing procedure for it. You connect Eclipse to the Bee mobile app and use the puck’s physical button; you do not add it through the Alexa app’s Devices > Add Device > Amazon Echo flow.

Yojaro 4Pack Silicone Suction Phone Case Mount, Silicon Adhesive Smartphones Stand Sticky, Hands-Free Phone Accessories Holder for Selfies and Videos (Black & White & Translucent & Light Pink)
  • 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
  • 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
  • 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
  • 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
  • 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

What you need before setup

  • A compatible smartphone with the Bee mobile app installed or ready to update.
  • The Bee account you intend to use for your summaries, memories and integrations.
  • An internet connection on the phone while setup is completed and when captured conversations are processed.
  • A phone surface or case that allows the Eclipse magnet to attach securely to the back. If a thick, textured or metal case prevents a firm connection, remove it temporarily while testing the attachment.
  • Permission from other participants before recording a call or meeting. The legal requirement can vary by location and situation, so treat consent as a required workflow step rather than assuming one rule applies everywhere.

Keep the phone online during initial setup. The available product information does not provide a separate screen-by-screen onboarding sequence, so the reliable documented path is the app, account sign-in, magnetic attachment and button-controlled capture described below.

How to set up Bee Eclipse step by step

  1. Install or update the Bee app. Get the Bee mobile app on your phone and install any pending update. Open it after installation.
  2. Sign in to the correct Bee account. Use the account where you want your conversation summaries, memories, insights and to-dos to appear. If you later enable connected services, they will be associated with this Bee account.
  3. Leave the phone connected to the internet. Keep Wi-Fi or mobile data available while the app finishes setup and while you test a capture. An offline phone may not be able to complete account or processing steps.
  4. Attach Eclipse to the phone. Place the puck against the back of the phone so its magnetic attachment holds it in place. This is Amazon’s documented connection method. There is no published instruction to pair Eclipse as a Bluetooth audio accessory.
  5. Check that the puck is stable. Hold the phone normally and make sure the device does not slide when you move it. A case that blocks the magnetic connection can make the puck appear unreliable even when the hardware is working.
  6. Start a capture. Press Bee Eclipse’s single control button once. The indicator light shows that the device is on and processing a conversation. Amazon’s earlier Bee overview describes a green LED as the recording indication.
  7. Stop the capture. Press the same button again when the conversation or meeting ends. Do not rely on closing the app as the stop command; the documented control is the physical button.
  8. Open the Bee app after the session. Review the generated summary, recap, memories, insights and any extracted or suggested to-dos. Processing happens through the Bee service, so leave the phone connected until the result appears.
  9. Choose integrations only if they are useful to you. From the Bee app, enable supported connections such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Apple HealthKit, photos, Alexa+ or Amazon.com where available. Some integrations require Bee Pro.

The practical sequence is short: attach, press once to start, press again to stop, then review the result in the app. The puck is a capture control and microphone accessory for Bee; the phone app is where you manage the account and read what Bee produced.

Does Bee Eclipse connect by Bluetooth?

Amazon’s published setup information does not describe Bluetooth pairing for Bee Eclipse. It specifies magnetic attachment to the phone and control through the puck’s single button. That makes Eclipse different from an Echo speaker, wireless headset or other Bluetooth audio device.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If you are looking for Eclipse in the phone’s Bluetooth settings or in the Alexa app’s Echo setup wizard, you are using the wrong path. Install and open Bee, sign in, attach the puck magnetically and test the button. The product information does not establish a Bluetooth pairing screen, Bluetooth audio profile or separate pairing code for Eclipse, so do not invent one when troubleshooting.

How to record a phone call or meeting responsibly

Bee can be used for conversations that happen during a phone call or meeting, but recording is not a private action between you and the device. Amazon says users are prompted to obtain permission from call participants each time a recording starts. Follow that prompt and ask everyone who needs to agree before pressing the capture button.

Apple EarPods Headphones with USB-C Plug, Wired Ear Buds with Built-in Remote to Control Music, Phone Calls, and Volume
  • SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
  • HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
  • BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
  • COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
  • INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
  1. Tell participants what you intend to record. Explain that Bee will capture the conversation and generate a summary or tasks.
  2. Obtain the required permission. Use the consent prompt presented when recording starts, and follow any stricter requirement that applies to your location or the participants’ locations.
  3. Press the button once. Confirm the indicator light shows that Bee is active. The green LED is the documented recording signal in Amazon’s Bee overview.
  4. Press the button again to stop. Stop promptly when the meeting or call ends, or when participants withdraw permission.
  5. Review and manage the result in Bee. Check the transcript-derived summary and delete material you do not want to retain using the controls available in the app.

Amazon’s announcement does not provide legal advice or claim that one consent standard applies in every jurisdiction. The safe operational rule is to use the prompt, make the recording visible through the LED and obtain permission before every session.

What Bee does with a captured conversation

Bee is intended to reduce the work required after a conversation. Amazon says it can create:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Conversation summaries and recaps.
  • Memories that preserve useful context for later reference.
  • Insights drawn from the captured discussion.
  • Reminders and suggested to-dos.
  • Follow-up actions, including drafted follow-up emails and calendar invites when the relevant connected services are enabled.

The exact output depends on what was said, the quality of the capture and the services you have connected. A clear action item such as “send the revised proposal on Friday” is easier for an assistant to turn into a task than an unresolved discussion. Treat generated summaries as working notes: check names, dates, commitments and recipients before sending an email or creating an invitation.

Connecting Gmail, calendars and other services

Once the basic capture workflow works, you can connect services from the Bee mobile app. Amazon lists Gmail, Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Apple HealthKit, photos, Alexa+ and Amazon.com among the possible connections. Availability and required subscription level can differ by integration.

When integrations are useful

  • Email: A discussion that ends with a promised reply can become a draft follow-up email for you to review.
  • Calendars: A proposed appointment or deadline can be turned into a calendar invite when the calendar connection is enabled.
  • Photos: Connected photos can give Bee additional personal context where the feature is available.
  • Health data: Apple HealthKit can supply health information to Bee if you explicitly connect it and accept the associated permissions.
  • Amazon services: Alexa+ and Amazon.com connections are listed as Bee integrations, with some requiring Bee Pro.

Only enable a connection if you understand what information it can expose to Bee and what actions it may help draft. Review each permission screen rather than granting every option automatically.

Privacy: audio, transcripts and deletion

Amazon says Bee processes audio in real time and deletes the audio after processing; it says no audio is stored. Amazon also says transcripts are encrypted with keys controlled by the customer’s device. Users can delete transcripts and summaries.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Those statements describe Amazon’s product handling, not a guarantee that every connected service treats information identically. Connected Gmail, calendar, health, photo or Amazon data can have its own account permissions and retention controls. Review the Bee app’s settings and the settings of each connected account if you later decide to disconnect an integration.

The physical controls are part of the privacy model. A single press starts or stops capture, and the indicator light shows when Bee is active. Keep the LED visible when possible so people nearby can tell that a session is in progress. If you are unsure whether capture is running, press the button once and verify the indicator state in a quiet moment before continuing.

Bee Eclipse battery and everyday use

Amazon lists more than 21 days of battery life for Bee Eclipse. That is a product claim rather than a guaranteed result for every user; frequent captures, processing and other operating conditions can affect real-world runtime. Charge it according to the instructions supplied with your unit and avoid beginning an important meeting with an unverified battery level.

Eclipse is most convenient when your phone is already with you. The puck stays associated with the phone, so it suits phone calls, desk meetings and days when you want one device to handle capture and app review. If you want hands-free capture without keeping a puck on the phone, the wearable Bee Frontier uses a wristband or clothing clip instead.

Troubleshooting the most common setup problems

The puck does not stay attached

Remove a thick or metal phone case and test the magnetic connection directly against the phone. Clean dust from the contact surfaces, reposition the puck and confirm that it is not sliding during normal handling. Eclipse is documented as a magnetic attachment, so a weak physical connection is a mounting problem rather than evidence that a Bluetooth pairing step is missing.

The app cannot finish setup

Confirm that the Bee app is updated, that you signed in to the intended account and that the phone has working Wi-Fi or mobile data. Close and reopen the app, then repeat the account and attachment steps. If another person configured the phone, verify that you are not signed in to a different Bee account.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Nothing appears to happen when you press the button

Press once and look for the indicator light. If the light does not show activity, check the device’s charge, make sure it is attached correctly and reopen the Bee app. Pressing again is the documented stop command, so avoid repeated presses in quick succession while trying to determine the state.

Apply even pressure for a few seconds to allow the suction cup to adhere properly. To maintain the grip and prevent accidental falls, it's a good practice to periodically reapply pressure to the suction cup.

The summary has not appeared

Leave the phone connected to the internet and allow processing to finish. Confirm that you pressed the button a second time to stop the session. If the capture was stopped immediately or the conversation was difficult to hear, the resulting summary may be incomplete. Review the app’s conversation list and account before starting another test.

A call participant has not consented

Do not begin or continue recording. Stop the capture with the button and follow the consent requirements that apply to the call or meeting. The product announcement does not replace local recording law or an organization’s meeting policy.

An integration is unavailable

Check whether that service is listed for your account and whether Bee Pro is required. Revisit the Bee app’s integration settings, sign in to the relevant service and read the permission screen. A missing integration does not indicate that Eclipse needs Bluetooth pairing; integrations are managed in the app.

A reliable first-use routine

  1. Charge Eclipse and update the Bee app before the first important meeting.
  2. Sign in and confirm that the app shows the account where you expect results.
  3. Attach the puck to the phone without a case if the magnet feels weak.
  4. Run a short test conversation, press once to start and press again to stop.
  5. Wait for the summary, then verify that the capture appears in the correct account.
  6. Only after the test succeeds, connect Gmail, a calendar or other services you genuinely need.
  7. For every real call or meeting, obtain participant permission before pressing the start button and keep the indicator light visible.

With that routine, Bee Eclipse functions as Amazon documents it: a magnetic phone attachment controlled by one button, with the Bee app handling processing, review and optional integrations. Use the puck when phone-centered capture is convenient; choose the wearable alternative when hands-free placement matters more.
