Connect the Logitech G29 by attaching its pedals, supplying power, plugging its USB cable directly into the computer or console, and selecting the correct mode before connection. Use PS4 mode for Windows PC and PS4, check game-specific support on PS5, and use PS3 mode only with a PS3. On Mac, Logitech lists the wheel for OS X 10.10 or later, but G HUB is limited to firmware updates and game support is title-specific.
What you need before starting
The G29 setup uses four physical pieces: the wheel base, the three-pedal unit, the external power adapter, and the wheel’s USB cable. Put the wheel on a rigid table or racing stand before connecting it. The base has an integrated clamp for a table and screw mounting points for a racing rig, so it can be secured either way. A soft, flexible surface can let the base move during braking and can make force feedback feel inconsistent.

Have a wall outlet close enough for the adapter and leave the USB cable able to reach the target device without tension. Do not put a USB hub, switch, or extension between the wheel and the console while diagnosing a connection problem. If you use a wheel stand or cockpit instead of a desk, verify that its screw pattern and clearance fit the G29 before buying it.

Set up the G29 on a Windows PC
1. Secure the wheel and connect the pedals
- Place the base on a stable table, tighten the built-in clamp, or fasten it to a compatible rig through the mounting points.
- Plug the pedal cable into the matching socket on the underside or rear of the wheel base. Make sure the connector is fully seated; the pedals receive their connection through the base rather than directly through the PC.
- Position the pedal unit so it cannot slide when you press the brake. A moving pedal set can look like a calibration problem even when the electronics are working.
2. Supply power and USB
- Connect the supplied 24 V, 1.75 A adapter to the wheel base and then to a wall outlet.
- Set the mode switch to PS4. Logitech identifies this as the PC setting.
- Connect the wheel’s USB cable directly to a USB port on the computer. Avoid a hub during initial setup.
The G29 is a wired USB device. It does not pair over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, so a missing power connection or a USB cable connected only to the pedals will leave the wheel unavailable.
3. Install the appropriate Logitech software
Download the G29 software offered for your current Windows version from Logitech rather than treating an old installer as automatically current. Logitech’s platform instructions mention Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) 8.70 or later for full PC functionality, while the technical specifications also identify G HUB as supported software. The practical rule is to use Logitech’s current G29 download recommendation for the operating system on the PC; if Logitech directs that version to G HUB, use G HUB, and if it provides LGS for that device or system, use the offered LGS package.
After installation, open the Logitech application and confirm that the wheel is listed. If the program asks for a firmware update, keep the wheel powered and connected directly until the update finishes. Do not unplug the base during an update.
4. Configure a supported game
- Start a game that explicitly supports Logitech force-feedback wheels.
- Open the game’s controls, input, or steering-wheel menu and select the G29 if the game presents a device list.
- Bind steering, throttle, brake and clutch individually if the game does not supply a preset.
- Set force-feedback strength, rotation range, dead zone and sensitivity inside the game. These values are game controls, not universal G29 settings; a setting that feels correct in one title may be unsuitable in another.
- Use the game’s calibration or test screen to confirm that the steering reaches both ends and that each pedal moves independently.
Logitech’s compatibility information is a list of supported titles, separated by platform. It is not a promise that every PC racing game, simulator, launcher version or newly released title will recognize the wheel.

Connect the G29 to PlayStation
PS4
- Clamp or mount the wheel, connect the pedals to the base, and connect the power adapter to a wall outlet.
- Move the mode switch to PS4 before connecting USB.
- Plug the USB cable directly into the PS4. Do not use a hub while establishing the first connection.
- Turn on the console and launch a game that lists G29 support.
- Open that game’s wheel or controller settings and assign steering and pedals if it does not configure them automatically.
Some games apply their own steering angle, force-feedback and pedal curves. Configure those controls after the console recognizes the wheel instead of assuming that a working USB connection means every control is already mapped.
PS5
Logitech lists the G29 as compatible with PS5, but the specific mode-setting instructions identify PS4 mode for PS4 and PC rather than providing a separate PS5 switch position. Connect the hardware as for PS4, then check the individual PS5 game’s supported-wheel list and setup instructions. A PS5 system recognizing a USB accessory is not evidence that every PS5 racing title accepts it; compatibility is determined at the game level.
PS3
- Connect the pedals and power supply to the wheel.
- Set the switch to PS3 before connecting the USB cable.
- Plug the USB cable directly into the console and start a supported game.
In PS3 mode, Logitech says supported games identify the G29 as a Driving Force GT. That compatibility behavior has three practical consequences: the clutch pedal does not function, the RPM indicator lights do not function, and the optional Driving Force Shifter does not function. Those are mode limitations, not signs that the hardware has failed.

Logitech’s specifications list Mac OS X 10.10 or later, and Logitech’s game list includes selected Mac titles. That evidence supports qualified, game-specific use rather than a guarantee for every current macOS release or every Mac game.

Recommended Mac procedure
- Mount the wheel, attach the pedals, connect the power adapter and plug the USB cable directly into the Mac.
- Check Logitech’s current G29 operating-system and download information before installing anything. Do not assume that a Windows configuration utility has an equivalent Mac feature set.
- Use G HUB on Mac only for firmware updates. Logitech does not describe Mac G HUB as a full wheel-configuration environment.
- Open a Mac game that explicitly supports the G29 and configure the wheel and pedals in that game’s controls.
- If the game is not on Logitech’s Mac compatibility information, treat support as unconfirmed and check the game’s own documentation or support page.
A Mac can therefore be a workable platform for a compatible title, but it is not equivalent to Windows for software management. The safest purchase or troubleshooting decision is based on the exact macOS version and exact game, not on the G29’s console and PC labeling alone.
Understand game-specific compatibility
The G29 is a controller whose usefulness depends on software recognizing its steering, pedals and force-feedback protocol. Logitech publishes platform-separated compatibility lists, including a Mac column. Use those lists as title-specific references, not as a universal catalogue of all current games.
- A game can support the wheel on one platform and omit support on another.
- A console version and a PC version of the same title can expose different wheel options.
- A game may detect steering but omit force feedback, clutch mapping or the RPM lights.
- An update to a game, operating system or launcher can change recognition without changing the physical wiring.
When checking a title, look specifically for G29 or Logitech wheel support, pedal mapping and force feedback. If only generic USB controllers are listed, do not infer that all G29 features will work.
Troubleshoot a G29 that is not detected or has no power
Work from the simplest physical causes toward software and game compatibility. Change one item at a time so you know which action fixed the problem.

1. Confirm direct power
- Push the adapter connector firmly into the wheel base.
- Plug the adapter directly into a working wall outlet rather than a switched-off power strip.
- Look for the wheel’s normal startup movement or indicator behavior. If there is no sign of power, concentrate on the adapter, outlet and base before changing game settings.
2. Remove USB intermediaries
Disconnect hubs, docks and USB switches. Connect the wheel directly to another USB port on the PC or console. On a laptop or docked Mac, test a port on the computer itself rather than a monitor or dock.
3. Recheck the mode switch
Verify that the switch was set before USB connection: PS4 for PC and PS4, PS3 for PS3. On PS3, the Driving Force GT identification and missing clutch, RPM lights and shifter functions are expected. A wrong mode can look like a dead wheel because the console or game may not enumerate it as the expected device.
4. Inspect every cable and connector
- Trace the pedal lead from the pedal unit to the wheel base.
- Inspect the USB cable for cuts, crushed sections or a loose plug.
- Check that the power connector is not partially inserted.
- Try a different known-good USB port, but avoid changing several cables simultaneously if you are trying to isolate the fault.
5. Update the system and game
Install available console, Windows or macOS updates and update the game. A title that predates wheel support, or a game update that changes input handling, can prevent recognition even when the wheel itself is working.

Open the game’s input menu, select the wheel if it appears, and bind the steering and pedals. Some titles default to a gamepad profile and will not read wheel axes until you select a wheel profile or assign each axis manually.

7. Test another supported game or device
Try a second game known to support the G29. If the second game works, the first title is the likely compatibility or configuration problem. If no supported game detects the wheel, test it on another compatible computer or console when available. This separates a title-specific fault from a power, cable, mode or wheel-hardware fault.

Mounting, pedals and optional shifter considerations
The integrated clamp is sufficient for a suitable desk, while the screw points are intended for a table or dedicated racing rig. Tighten the clamp evenly and leave clearance for the wheel’s rotation. If the desk flexes, force feedback and braking precision will feel worse even though the USB connection is healthy.
The pedal set includes throttle, brake and clutch. A game may expose all three axes, only two, or a combined control depending on its input design. Configure the axes in the game’s control screen rather than assuming that every title uses the clutch.

The optional Driving Force Shifter adds an H-pattern control where a supported game accepts it. It is not functional when the G29 is operating in PS3 mode, so buying it for a PS3 setup does not add usable shifting in that mode.
