Set up the Restore 3 by plugging it in, connecting it to the Hatch Sleep app over 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi, and creating your wind-down and wake-up schedules in the app. After that first configuration, the Restore 3’s Big Button and Pause button let you run, pause, snooze, or stop routines without reaching for your phone.

What you need before setup

Gather the Restore 3, its power cable, and a phone or tablet with Bluetooth enabled. The clock is designed to stay connected to an electrical outlet; Hatch’s setup instructions say to keep it plugged in at all times. Initial setup is performed in the Hatch Sleep app, and the Restore controls guide specifies a 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi network.

Requirement Why it matters What to check
Restore 3 and power cable The clock is intended to remain powered rather than run as a portable, battery-operated alarm. Use the supplied cable and an outlet located near the bed.
Hatch Sleep app Pairing, routine creation, alarm scheduling, and content selection are handled in the app. Install it from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi The Restore 3 setup process requires Wi‑Fi, and Hatch’s control guide identifies 2.4 GHz wireless as the supported setup connection. Know the network name and password before you begin.
Bluetooth-enabled phone or tablet The control guide lists Bluetooth capability as part of the setup requirements. Turn on Bluetooth before opening the app.

No separate hub, subscription, accessory, replacement part, or physical media is required for the basic setup sequence described by Hatch.

Connect the Restore 3 to the Hatch Sleep app

  1. Power the clock. Connect the Restore 3’s power cable and plug it into an outlet. Leave it connected while you configure and use it.
  2. Install and open Hatch Sleep. Download the app on your phone or tablet, launch it, and follow the on-screen setup prompts.
  3. Allow the requested connections. Keep Bluetooth enabled and select your 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi network when the app asks. Enter the network password exactly as it appears.
  4. Finish device pairing. Continue through the app until the Restore 3 appears as your connected device. Keep the phone close to the clock during this first pairing.

The app is primarily the configuration and customization workspace. Once a routine or alarm is saved, the hardware controls can start and operate it even when your phone is not in your hand.

Build your first bedtime routine

During the first routine setup, Hatch Sleep asks questions about your sleep needs. Review the sleep-style results, then open the suggested routine. The app organizes a routine into three purposes rather than one long, undifferentiated playlist.

Unwind: the settling-down phase

Unwind is the period when you are getting ready for sleep. It can combine sound and light steps, each with its own duration. A quiet sound, dimming light, or sunset-style transition can mark the move from evening activity to bed.

Sleep: the overnight phase

Sleep contains options intended to continue after you are in bed. Hatch describes this area as restful sound choices once asleep. You can add a sound, a light, or both, and set how long that step should run.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Alarm: the morning phase

Alarm is the wake-up portion. It is configured separately from the bedtime steps so that its time, repeat days, sunrise duration, brightness, volume, and sound/light combination can be changed without rebuilding the evening routine.

Add, edit, and preview bedtime steps

  1. Connect to the Restore 3 in Hatch Sleep and open the routine editor.
  2. Under Unwind or Sleep, tap Add step.
  3. Choose whether the new step uses sound, light, or both.
  4. Set the step’s duration. Use the preview option if you want to hear or see the selection before saving it.
  5. Save the step, then repeat the process for any additional transition.

To change an existing step, tap the three-dot control beside it. From there, select a different sound, light, or duration, preview the result if useful, and save the edit. Keep each step’s purpose clear: a short Unwind transition can prepare you for bed, while a longer Sleep step can continue after you have settled.

Create a sunset light effect

For a gradual evening light change, edit or add a step and enable the light. Tap See More, open Sunsets, select the effect you want, and save it. The sunset is a light choice inside a routine step; it does not replace the routine’s duration or the separate morning sunrise settings.

Start and control the routine on the Restore 3

Once the routine is saved, the Restore 3 can handle the normal bedtime interaction from its top controls.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Start: Press the Big Button to begin the bedtime routine.
  • Advance: Tap the Big Button once to move to the next step.
  • Stop: Press and hold the Big Button to stop the routine.
  • Volume: Rotate the Big Button to raise or lower audio volume.
  • Pause or resume audio: Press the Pause button. This controls the audio playback without requiring the app.

A tap advances a step, whereas a press-and-hold stops the routine, so use the hold gesture only when you intend to end it rather than move forward.

Set up the Restore 3 sunrise alarm

  1. From the Restore 3 home screen in Hatch Sleep, select Add Alarm.
  2. Enter an alarm name if you want to identify its purpose, such as a workday or weekend wake-up.
  3. Choose the alarm’s start time.
  4. Select the days of the week on which it should repeat.
  5. Pick the sound/light combination. You may use light, sound, or both; either component can be switched off.
  6. Adjust brightness, sunrise duration, and volume.
  7. Save the alarm.

The sunrise phase begins before the scheduled sound. When the alarm is due, the Restore 3 gradually brings up the selected light over the duration you set, then starts the chosen sound at the alarm time. Hatch Support’s Restore 3 Alarm Guide, updated August 2, 2026, describes the feature as allowing “a custom light and sound combination to gently wake you up.”

Alarm setting What it controls
Start time When the alarm event occurs and the selected sound begins.
Days of the week Whether the alarm repeats on selected weekdays.
Sunrise duration How long the gradual light increase runs before the alarm time.
Brightness The intensity reached by the sunrise light.
Volume The level of the selected alarm sound.
Sound and light toggles Whether the wake-up uses audio, light, or both.

Create a one-time alarm or manage repeats

To make an alarm run only once, leave every weekday unselected when you create it. Hatch says that an alarm with no weekdays selected runs once and then deletes itself. This is useful for a travel morning, an appointment, or an unusual schedule.

For a repeating alarm, select each required weekday before saving. If you later need to change the schedule, edit the alarm in the app rather than relying on the hardware toggle.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Understand the side alarm toggle

The side alarm toggle enables or disables all scheduled alarms. It is a global switch, not a control for one alarm. If you need to skip only one alarm while leaving others active, disable that individual alarm in Hatch Sleep.

Snooze or stop a ringing alarm

  • Snooze: Tap the Big Button once. The Restore 3 snoozes for nine minutes.
  • Stop: Press and hold the Big Button to stop the alarm.

Use the side toggle when you want to turn off the entire alarm schedule, and use the app when the change applies to only one saved alarm.

Choose bedtime and sunrise settings deliberately

There is no universally correct combination documented for the Restore 3. The controls let you match the sequence to your room, schedule, and tolerance for sound or light.

Decision Available choices Practical question
Bedtime location Unwind or Sleep Is this step helping you settle before sleep, or continuing after you are already in bed?
Bedtime content Sound, light, or both Do you want an audible cue, a visual cue, or a combined transition?
Bedtime length A duration for each step How much time should this particular activity occupy before the next step?
Morning content Sound, light, or both Would a gradual light cue be sufficient, or should audio be included?
Morning timing Start time and sunrise duration How early should the light phase begin before the sound time?
Morning intensity Brightness and volume What light and audio levels are appropriate for the room and sleeper?

Because the sunrise duration and alarm time are separate controls, increasing the duration starts the light earlier while leaving the final alarm time unchanged. Similarly, reducing volume changes the sound level without removing the light unless you switch light off.

Hatch’s product page currently lists Hatch+ at $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year and says a 30-day free trial comes with Restore. Those are vendor terms that can change, so check the offer shown in your app or at checkout before relying on the price or trial. The free choices are sufficient to create an alarm with the controls described above.

Restore 3 price and availability context

Hatch’s product page displayed a Restore 3 price of $169.99 when the product information was checked on October 13, 2026. Price and availability are volatile; treat that figure as a dated vendor display rather than a permanent price. The setup procedure itself does not depend on a particular sale, retailer, or subscription tier.

Troubleshoot the first setup

The app cannot find the clock

  • Confirm that the Restore 3 is plugged into power.
  • Turn on Bluetooth on the phone or tablet.
  • Verify that the phone is connecting to a 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi network, as specified by Hatch’s controls guide.
  • Return to the app’s on-screen setup flow and keep the mobile device near the clock while pairing.

Wi‑Fi setup fails

  • Recheck the network name and password entered in Hatch Sleep.
  • Ensure the selected network is the required 2.4 GHz connection rather than an unsupported band.
  • Keep the Restore 3 powered while repeating the setup prompts.

A bedtime step does not behave as expected

  • Open the routine editor and inspect the step under the correct section: Unwind or Sleep.
  • Use the three-dot control to confirm the selected sound, light, and duration.
  • Save the edit after changing it, then preview the step if you need to verify the result.
  • On the device, remember that a tap advances and a hold stops; using the wrong gesture can make a routine appear to skip or end.

An alarm did not run

  • Check that the alarm is saved for the intended weekday. An alarm with no weekdays is a one-time event and removes itself after running.
  • Inspect the side alarm toggle. If it is off, all scheduled alarms are disabled.
  • If only one alarm should be changed, edit that alarm in the app rather than using the global toggle.
  • Review the saved start time, sunrise duration, sound/light selection, brightness, and volume.

The alarm is too bright or too loud

Edit the alarm in Hatch Sleep and lower brightness or volume. You can also switch off either light or sound while leaving the other component enabled.

What the available evidence says about sleep benefits

Hatch reports results from a biannual Sleep Wellness Impact survey of 1,000 Restore and Restore 2 customers conducted in October 2023: 10% said their sleep had improved, 12% said they enjoyed waking up more, and 11% said they felt better rested. These are vendor-reported survey figures, not independent clinical findings. The survey covered Restore and Restore 2 customers, so it does not establish a Restore 3-specific result or demonstrate that the device causes better sleep for every user.

Use the Restore 3 as a configurable light-and-sound routine tool, not as a medical treatment or a guarantee of improved sleep. If sleep problems persist, seek advice from a qualified health professional.

A simple first-night checklist

  • Restore 3 is plugged in and left connected.
  • Hatch Sleep is installed, with Bluetooth enabled on the phone or tablet.
  • The clock is paired through a 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi network.
  • An Unwind or Sleep step has a selected sound, light, or both, plus a duration.
  • The bedtime routine has been saved and tested with the Big Button.
  • The sunrise alarm has a start time, repeat days or intentional one-time setting, and selected light/sound options.
  • Brightness, sunrise duration, and volume are set to appropriate levels.
  • The side alarm toggle is on if scheduled alarms should run.

After this checklist is complete, your phone is mainly needed for future edits. Starting, advancing, pausing, snoozing, and stopping the routine can be done from the Restore 3 controls.
