Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
To set up a Create mod server, first lock the Minecraft version, mod loader, and Create build to compatible values. Install the matching loader on the server, put Create and its required dependencies in the mods folder, accept the EULA, start once, and then install the identical loader and Create build on every player’s client. For Create 6.0, the supported official builds target Minecraft 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 on Forge or NeoForge; Fabric uses a separately maintained port and requires Fabric API.
Choose the Minecraft version and loader first
A Create server is not compatible merely because all files say “Create.” Minecraft version, loader, and mod build must match. Forge mods do not run on Fabric. Quilt is compatible with Fabric mods but not with Forge mods, and NeoForge is not a drop-in replacement for Forge after Minecraft 1.20.1.

| Minecraft target | Preferred loader | Create guidance |
|---|---|---|
| 1.21 or later | NeoForge | NeoForge is the usual choice for new modded servers. It targets 1.20.2 and newer. |
| 1.20.1 | Forge or NeoForge | Create 6.0 has official builds for both loaders. Choose the loader required by the rest of your modpack. |
| 1.19.2 and older | Legacy Forge, unless your exact pack specifies another loader | Do not assume a current Create 6.0 release supports these versions. Check the exact Create build page. |
| Fabric-based pack | Fabric | Use the separately maintained Fabric Create port for your exact Minecraft version and install Fabric API. |
For example, a Create 6.0.10 build is listed for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge, while a recent 1.20.1 build is 6.0.8 for Forge and NeoForge. Release numbers such as 6.0.10 describe Create, not Minecraft; always read the complete file name and loader label.
Confirm every mod before installing
- Write down one Minecraft version, such as 1.21.1 or 1.20.1.
- Choose one loader: NeoForge, Forge, or Fabric.
- Download a Create jar built for that exact pair.
- Check every additional mod against the same Minecraft version and loader.
- Use files from Modrinth or CurseForge, and avoid jars whose version or loader is only approximately similar.
Requirements: Java, memory, and a machine to run the server
Java version
| Minecraft range | Typical Java requirement | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| 1.21 and newer | Java 21 | NeoForge dropped Java 17 support from 1.21 onward. |
| 1.20.5 through 1.20.6 | Java 21 | Use the version specified by the loader and Create build. |
| 1.17 through 1.20.4 | Java 17 | Some modpacks override this; follow the pack’s instructions. |
| Older legacy packs | Often Java 8 | Confirm against the legacy loader and pack documentation. |
These ranges are setup guidance rather than a universal rule. If the Create release page or a complete modpack gives a different Java requirement, use that requirement. On a machine with multiple Java installations, check the active runtime with java -version before launching the server.

RAM allocation
A bare NeoForge installation can start with about 2 GB of RAM, but Create adds rendering data, contraptions, world entities, and registries. Allocate more for players and for every additional mod. Treat 2 GB as a starting point, not a capacity guarantee. Leave memory for the operating system and background services; assigning all physical RAM to Java can make the machine less stable.
For a small test server, a command such as -Xms4G -Xmx6G is a reasonable example when the host has sufficient unused memory. Adjust it to your hardware and player count rather than copying it blindly.

- Self-hosted PC: simplest for a private LAN or occasional play, but the computer must remain online and reachable.
- VPS or dedicated machine: gives you full control over Java, files, backups, and startup scripts.
- Panel host: convenient when its Version or Startup menu offers your exact loader and Minecraft version. Confirm that you can upload custom jars and edit Java arguments.
Install dependencies before Create
NeoForge and Forge
For current Create 6.0 builds on Forge or NeoForge, Flywheel is bundled inside Create. Do not download a second Flywheel jar unless the specific Create release says it needs one. Older Create builds for Forge 1.18.2 or lower may require a separate Flywheel download.
Registrate appears in Create developer documentation, but the available release information does not establish that every player must install it separately. Check the release notes for your exact Create file before adding it; an unnecessary or mismatched dependency can prevent startup.
Fabric
Fabric Create builds require Fabric API. Install Fabric API in the server’s mods directory before adding the Create jar, and install the same Fabric API version on clients. Fabric API is separate from the Fabric server launcher.
Set up a self-managed NeoForge or Forge server
The following procedure applies to a clean server directory. Keep the directory dedicated to this instance so that an old world or loader jar cannot be mixed with the new installation.
- Create a folder and select its Java runtime. Make a new directory for the server, open a terminal in it, and verify the Java version with
java -version. - Download the installer for the exact Minecraft version. Obtain the NeoForge installer from neoforged.net. For an older pack that specifically requires Forge, download the Forge installer for that same Minecraft version instead. Do not use a 1.21 installer for a 1.20.1 Create build.
- Install server files. Run the installer in server mode:
java -jar neoforge-<version>-installer.jar --installServer. Replace the filename with the installer you downloaded. The command creates the loader files and generated launch scripts in the current folder. - Accept the EULA. Start the generated script once, stop it after it creates files, open
eula.txt, changeeula=falsetoeula=true, and save. You must accept Mojang’s EULA yourself before running the server for players. - Set heap arguments in the supported file. Modern Forge and NeoForge installations normally generate run scripts and
user_jvm_args.txtinstead of one large executable jar. Put values such as-Xms4Gand-Xmx6Ginuser_jvm_args.txt. This keeps your memory settings separate from generated scripts and helps prevent an installer update from overwriting them. - Create the mods directory. If no
modsfolder exists, create one beside the run script. - Copy Create into the folder. Place the Forge or NeoForge Create jar that matches your Minecraft version in
mods. A 1.21.1 NeoForge server, for example, needs the matching 1.21.1 NeoForge Create file, not a 1.20.1 Forge file. - Launch with the generated script. Run the generated Windows batch file or Unix shell script rather than inventing a different command. Keep the console visible on the first launch.
- Read the complete startup log. Wait for the server to report that it has finished loading and is ready for connections. If it stops, record the first error and the jar named in that error before changing files.
Why the first launch matters
The initial run generates configuration files, the world directory, permissions, and loader metadata. Starting once with only the loader and Create installed makes failures attributable. Add optimization or content mods only after this baseline server starts successfully.
Set up a Fabric Create server
- Choose the exact Minecraft and Fabric versions. Download the Fabric server launcher for that combination from fabricmc.net.
- Install the launcher in a clean directory. Follow the launcher’s server-install process so it creates the Fabric server files.
- Accept the EULA. Run the server once, edit
eula.txtto seteula=true, and save. - Make the mods folder. Create
modsbeside the Fabric launcher if it was not created automatically. - Add Fabric API first. Download the Fabric API file for the exact Minecraft version and put it in
mods. - Add the Fabric Create port. Copy the matching Fabric Create jar into the same folder. This is a separately maintained port, so its version list and compatibility are not the same as the Forge or NeoForge project.
- Start the server. A guide’s example command is
java -Xms4G -Xmx6G -jar fabric-server-launch.jar nogui. Change the memory values and filename if your installation generated different files. - Inspect the console. A missing Fabric API, wrong Minecraft version, or wrong loader usually appears as a clear dependency or mod-resolution error.
Install through a hosting panel
Panel interfaces differ, but the workflow is consistent:
Rank #3
- The classic UNO card game builds fun on game night with a Minecraft theme.
- UNO Minecraft features a deck and storage tin decorated with graphics from the popular video game.
- Players match colors and numbers to the card on top of the discard pile as in the classic game.
- The Creeper card unique to this deck forces other players to draw 3 cards.
- Makes a great gift for kid, teen, adult and family game nights with 2 to 10 players ages 7 years and older, especially Minecraft and video game fans.
- Open the server’s Versions, Startup, or similarly named configuration tab.
- Select NeoForge, Forge, or Fabric, then select the exact Minecraft version required by your Create build.
- Apply or reinstall the selected server type. Reinstallation can replace the existing server directory, so download a backup of worlds and configuration first.
- Open the Console while the panel installs and starts the server. Watch for Java-version, EULA, and dependency errors.
- Open the panel’s file manager or SFTP area and place Create, Fabric API, and any other required jars in
mods. - Restart and wait for a clean completion message before connecting.
Some panels include a Modpacks tab with one-click installations. Use it only when the pack’s Minecraft version, loader, and Create dependency set are explicit. A one-click install is not a substitute for checking client requirements.
Prepare every player’s client
Each player needs the same Minecraft version, loader, and matching Create client build as the server. A NeoForge server requires NeoForge clients; a Fabric server requires Fabric clients. A player using vanilla Minecraft or a different loader will normally be rejected during the handshake.
- Install the same Minecraft version used by the server.
- Install the same loader version, or the exact loader version required by the modpack.
- Put the matching Create jar in the client’s
modsfolder. - For Fabric, add the same compatible Fabric API version.
- Copy only additional mods that explicitly support the server’s loader and Minecraft version.
- Launch the modded profile and confirm Create appears in the title screen’s mod list before entering the server address.
Client-only visual or performance mods can sometimes differ, but content and gameplay mods should be treated as shared files unless their documentation clearly says otherwise. Keep a manifest of filenames and versions so a later update does not leave one player on an older jar.
Verify Create in game
- Join with an operator account after the server reports ready.
- Open the inventory or recipe viewer and search for a Create item, such as a shaft or mechanical press.
- Place a small test setup in a disposable area: a water wheel, shaft, and gear train are enough to confirm that contraption logic loads.
- Watch the server console while placing and breaking blocks. Repeated stack traces, ticking errors, or severe lag indicate a problem even if the client connected.
- Stop the server cleanly with the console’s
stopcommand before making changes or copying a backup.
Troubleshoot the common failures
“Mod file requires a different loader”
Remove the jar named in the error and download the same mod for the server’s loader. Forge, NeoForge, Fabric, and Quilt files are not interchangeable simply because their Minecraft versions match.
Rank #4
- Now Minecraft lovers can play a special version of UNO!
- Same as Basic UNO but features Minecraft characters and includes special Creeper rule card. Draw this card and the other players have to draw three more cards from the pile!
- The goal is to get rid of all the cards in your hand.
- First player or team to 500 wins.
- When you're down to one card, don't forget to yell "UNO"!
“Incompatible Minecraft version”
Compare the Minecraft version embedded in the loader installation, the Create filename, and every dependency. Replace the outlier rather than trying to force it with a configuration edit. Create 6.0 release names do not encode the Minecraft version, so inspect the build’s compatibility labels.
Java launch failure or class-version error
Run java -version from the same account and script that starts the server. Switch to Java 21 for Minecraft 1.20.5 and newer, Java 17 for most 1.17–1.20.4 installations, or the legacy version specified by an older pack. Panel hosts may have a separate Java selector from the operating system’s default.
Server stops after adding Create
Temporarily move all optional jars out of mods, leaving only the loader, Create, and required API files. Start again, then add mods one at a time. This isolates a conflict without destroying the world. For current Forge and NeoForge Create 6.0, remove any separately downloaded Flywheel unless that particular release explicitly requires it.
Fabric reports a missing dependency
Confirm that Fabric API is in both the server and client mods folders and that its Minecraft version matches. Install Fabric API before testing additional Fabric mods.
Best Value
Out-of-memory crashes or long pauses
Increase -Xmx only when the machine has free physical memory. Reduce simulation distance, remove unneeded mods, and check whether large Create contraptions are concentrated in loaded chunks. Installing FerriteCore early is commonly suggested because its memory savings can become more useful as the mod list grows, but it must still match your loader and Minecraft version.
Players cannot connect while the server is healthy
Check that clients use the same loader and Create build, that the server is listening on the intended address and port, and that the host firewall allows that port. A successful local connection does not prove that an internet-facing firewall or router is configured.

Back up before every change
- Stop the server cleanly before copying files.
- Back up the world directory,
server.properties,ops.json, whitelist files, configuration directories, and the currentmodslist. - Keep dated backups outside the live server directory so a reinstall cannot delete every copy.
Update one layer at a time
When upgrading, record the current Minecraft version, loader version, Create build, Java runtime, and dependency jars. Test the loader and Create combination on a copied world before changing the production instance. Do not upgrade Minecraft, loader, Create, and ten other mods simultaneously; if the server fails, you will not know which change caused it.
Respect world and mod compatibility
A Create update can change recipes, contraption behavior, or data formats. Read the release notes for the exact build and retain a rollback copy. Never open the only copy of an established world in a newer mod stack until the backup has been verified.
Quick Recap
Loader decision checklist
| Question | Choose NeoForge or Forge when… | Choose Fabric when… |
|---|---|---|
| Where is your modpack built? | Its files list Forge or NeoForge. | Its files list Fabric and Fabric API. |
| What Create distribution is available? | You want the official Forge/NeoForge Create build, including Create 6.0 targets for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1. | You have confirmed a Fabric Create port for your exact Minecraft version. |
| Which dependency model applies? | Create 6.0 bundles Flywheel; older releases may not. | Fabric API is required alongside the Fabric Create port. |
| What should you prioritize? | NeoForge is the usual default for a new 1.21-or-later server; legacy Forge remains relevant to older packs. | Use Fabric only when the available mods and Create port support your chosen version. |
Final pre-launch checklist
- Minecraft version is fixed and documented.
