To stop unexpected purchases in Disney Magic Kingdoms, secure the store or console account that processes the charge. On iPhone or iPad, Screen Time can block in-app purchases or require a password every time. On Android, Google Play can require authentication for every purchase on the device. Nintendo Switch and PlayStation use their own family-management systems; PlayStation includes a Monthly Spending Limit, while Nintendo provides purchase restrictions where supported.
The supplied title says “Disney’s new game,” but the game-specific support material available for these steps identifies Gameloft’s Disney Magic Kingdoms. These instructions therefore apply to Disney Magic Kingdoms, not Disney+ profile controls or every Disney game. If your child is playing a different Disney title, use the platform instructions below as a starting point and confirm that game’s current support documentation.
Where the purchase is actually controlled
Disney Magic Kingdoms’ documented purchase protections are store- or platform-level controls. They are not presented as one universal game PIN, allowance screen, or spending dashboard that works identically on every device. The account that handles billing is the enforcement point:
- Apple handles purchases made on an iPhone or iPad through the App Store.
- Google Play handles purchases made through an Android device.
- Nintendo handles purchases made through a Nintendo Switch account and its family controls.
- PlayStation handles purchases made through a PlayStation family account.
A restriction can be perfectly configured and still appear ineffective if the child launches the game under a different account, uses another device, or reaches a different billing route. Identify the store shown on the device where the charge would occur before choosing a control.

Choose the right type of protection
Parental controls solve different problems. A complete block gives the least opportunity for an accidental charge but also prevents legitimate purchases. A password prompt preserves purchasing while adding a checkpoint. An allowance or monthly cap limits total spending but may still permit individual purchases until the cap is reached.
| Platform | Primary enforcement point | Available protection described for this setup | Scope and friction |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone or iPad | iOS Screen Time and App Store purchase settings | Set In-App Purchases to Don’t Allow, or choose Always Require for the password requirement | Can block every in-app purchase or require authentication each time on the configured Apple device/account |
| Android | Google Play Store purchase authentication | Choose For all purchases through Google Play on this device | Requires authentication for Google Play purchases on that device; fingerprint setup may also request the account password |
| Nintendo Switch | Nintendo Switch console controls or the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app | Nintendo identifies purchase restrictions as a capability where supported, alongside content and feature controls | Restrictions depend on the Nintendo account, console setup, and supported features |
| PlayStation | PlayStation Family Management | Set the child account’s Monthly Spending Limit | Controls the child account’s monthly spending through PlayStation family settings |
Apple and Google provide the clearest documented choices for an outright block or an every-purchase authentication prompt. Nintendo and PlayStation require you to configure the family system for the account that owns or processes the purchase.
iPhone and iPad: block purchases or require a password
Use iOS Screen Time when Disney Magic Kingdoms is installed on an iPhone or iPad. You can either disable in-app purchases completely or make iOS require authentication for each purchase.
Turn on Screen Time if it is not already active
- Open Settings.
- Choose Screen Time.
- If Screen Time is off, turn it on and complete the setup prompts.
Use a Screen Time passcode that your child does not know. The passcode protects the restrictions themselves; it should not be the same credential the child uses for the game.

Open the App Store purchase controls
- From Settings, open Screen Time.
- Choose Content & Privacy Restrictions.
- Open iTunes & App Store Purchases.
These are the settings identified for Disney Magic Kingdoms on iOS. If Content & Privacy Restrictions is disabled, enable it before changing the purchase option.
Option A: block every in-app purchase
- In iTunes & App Store Purchases, select In-App Purchases.
- Set it to Don’t Allow.
This is the most reliable choice when the child must not spend money in the game at all. It also blocks legitimate purchases made by the child on that configured iPhone or iPad until you change the setting.
Option B: require authentication for every purchase
- In the same purchase settings, find the password requirement.
- Choose Always Require.
This leaves purchasing available but adds an authentication step for each transaction. Keep the Apple account password or other required authentication private. If the child knows the credential, the prompt is not an effective barrier.

Verify the iOS setting
- Close and reopen Disney Magic Kingdoms after changing the restriction.
- Confirm the game is being used on the iPhone or iPad where the setting was changed.
- Check that the purchase would be billed through the expected Apple account rather than another account or device.
- Do not treat a successful password prompt as proof that a spending cap exists; Always Require is an authentication rule, not a dollar allowance.
Android: require Google Play authentication for every purchase
On Android, the documented control is in the Google Play Store rather than in a Disney Magic Kingdoms menu. The setting applies to Google Play purchases on the configured device.

Set authentication to every purchase
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Open Menu, then choose Settings.
- Select Require Authentication For Purchases.
- Choose For all purchases through Google Play on this device.
With this choice, Google Play should request authentication for each purchase made through Google Play on that device. The wording is device-specific: it does not claim to govern purchases made through a different Android device, a different account, or a separate store.
Complete the password or fingerprint setup
If fingerprint authentication is enabled, Google Play may ask for the account password while you set up the purchase requirement. Enter the password yourself and do not save or disclose it for the child to use. A child who can authenticate the Google account can approve a purchase even when the setting is enabled.
Check the Android result
- Make sure Disney Magic Kingdoms is installed from and billing through Google Play.
- Confirm the child is playing on the device where For all purchases through Google Play on this device was selected.
- Review the setting after a Google Play update if the menu wording looks different; labels can change while the purpose remains purchase authentication.
- Remember that this is an every-purchase authentication rule, not a monthly spending limit.
Nintendo Switch: use console or app-based family controls
Nintendo Switch does not use the iOS or Google Play menus. Nintendo says its parental controls can restrict content, set play-time limits, and restrict selected features. Nintendo’s overview also identifies purchase restrictions as a platform capability where supported.

- Choose either the Nintendo Switch console’s parental-control settings or the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app.
- Connect the control system to the Nintendo account and Switch profile used by the child.
- Review the available purchase-related restriction, if it is offered for that account and setup.
- Save the restriction and protect the parental-control credentials from the child.
Nintendo’s documentation does not establish one universal purchase-limit screen for every Switch account or region. Availability can depend on the account configuration and the feature supported on the console. Do not assume that a play-time restriction, content rating, or communication setting automatically blocks purchases; check the purchase-related option separately.

Make sure the restriction covers the billing account
A Switch can contain multiple user profiles. Configure the profile and Nintendo account that would be charged, not merely the profile that appears first on the console. If the child can switch to an adult account with stored payment credentials, a restriction on the child profile may not protect that other route.
PlayStation: set a Monthly Spending Limit
On PlayStation, use Family Management. PlayStation lists Monthly Spending Limit with its other family controls, including age-level, playtime, communication, and service settings.
Open family management
- Open PlayStation’s Family Management controls using the parent or family-manager account.
- Select the child account that plays Disney Magic Kingdoms.
- Locate Monthly Spending Limit.
- Set the amount appropriate for that child, including a zero limit when the child must not spend through the PlayStation account.
- Save the setting and keep the family-manager credentials private.
The control is monthly, so it limits the child account’s total spending over the platform’s monthly period rather than acting as a password prompt for every individual transaction. Confirm that the game’s purchase would be billed through the selected child account and PlayStation service; a payment made through another account or device is outside that setting.

Use the limit with the other family controls
A spending limit addresses money, while age-level, playtime, communication, and service controls address access and use. Configure only the restrictions you need, but do not substitute a play-time rule for a purchase rule. A child can remain within a play-time allowance and still make a purchase unless the spending control is configured.

If you cannot find a purchase setting
The Federal Trade Commission advises checking both the game publisher and the device manufacturer when purchase controls are unclear. Its consumer guidance describes in-game purchase restrictions as tools that can block spending, require a password, or set a dollar limit.
For Disney Magic Kingdoms, the documented iOS and Android instructions point to the store settings. They do not establish a universal game-level PIN or spending dashboard on every platform. If the game shows no purchase menu, look first at the store or console family account that processes the payment. Then check the platform’s current parental-control documentation for the exact labels used on your software version.
How to choose between a block, authentication, and a limit
| Goal | Best fit | What the child experiences | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| No purchases at all | iOS In-App Purchases: Don’t Allow, or a platform restriction that blocks purchases | The purchase cannot proceed while the block is active | You must temporarily change the setting for an authorized purchase |
| Allow occasional purchases with parental approval | iOS Always Require or Android authentication for all Google Play purchases | An adult must complete the authentication step | The protection depends on keeping the credential private |
| Permit a fixed amount over time | PlayStation Monthly Spending Limit | Purchases can continue until the monthly amount is exhausted | It is a monthly account limit, not an every-transaction approval |
| Control a Switch account | Nintendo Switch console or Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app | Available restrictions depend on the account and supported feature set | Nintendo’s overview does not establish one identical purchase workflow for every setup |
Set up the protection without leaving a gap
- Identify the device. Write down whether the child will play on iPhone, iPad, Android, Switch, or PlayStation.
- Identify the billing route. Determine whether the charge would go to Apple, Google Play, Nintendo, PlayStation, or another store.
- Identify the account. Check the user profile and family account that owns the payment method.
- Pick the friction level. Use a complete block when no spending is acceptable, authentication when an adult should approve each purchase, or a monthly limit when a controlled allowance is appropriate.
- Protect the control. Keep Screen Time, Google, Nintendo, or PlayStation family credentials away from the child.
- Save and recheck. Return to the setting after saving to confirm the selected option remains active.
- Test the route safely. Open the game’s store screen without confirming a charge and verify that the expected block, prompt, or limit appears.
- Repeat for every device. A setting on one phone, tablet, console, or account does not automatically protect another billing route.
Troubleshooting purchase controls
A purchase still goes through on iPhone or iPad
- Reopen Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Store Purchases and verify that In-App Purchases is actually set to Don’t Allow, or that the password requirement is Always Require.
- Check that the child is using the same iPhone or iPad and Apple account where the restriction was configured.
- Look for another device or account that could have processed the payment.
Android does not ask for authentication
- Return to Google Play Store > Menu > Settings > Require Authentication For Purchases.
- Confirm the exact choice is For all purchases through Google Play on this device, not a less restrictive option.
- Verify that the game was installed and billed through Google Play and that the child is not using another device or account.
- If fingerprint authentication was recently enabled, complete the account-password setup requested by Google Play.
Nintendo Switch has no obvious purchase limit
- Open the Nintendo Switch parental controls on the console or in the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app.
- Confirm the child profile and Nintendo account are the ones tied to the purchase.
- Check whether purchase restrictions are supported for that account and setup; Nintendo’s feature availability is not identical in every configuration.
- Restrict access to adult profiles that retain payment credentials.
PlayStation spending is not being limited
- Open PlayStation Family Management with the family-manager account.
- Select the correct child account and verify its Monthly Spending Limit.
- Check whether the game is being played under another PlayStation account or billed through another platform.
- Remember that the control governs the monthly total for the child account; it is not a universal block on every device or store.
Important limits of these controls
- They are platform-specific. An Apple restriction does not govern Google Play, Nintendo, or PlayStation purchases.
- They follow accounts and billing routes. A child using an adult account or a second device may bypass a restriction configured elsewhere.
- Authentication is not the same as an allowance. Password prompts approve individual transactions; they do not establish a recurring dollar ceiling.
- A monthly limit is not an every-purchase prompt. PlayStation’s Monthly Spending Limit controls total spending over the month, while the store may still allow an individual purchase before the limit is reached.
- Menus can change. Apple, Google, Nintendo, and PlayStation may rename or move settings. Match the current label to the function described here rather than relying on an old screenshot.
- Disney+ controls are unrelated. Streaming profile PINs and Junior Mode do not control purchases in Disney Magic Kingdoms.
Recommended default for most families
If the child should never buy items independently, start with a complete purchase block on the platform where Disney Magic Kingdoms is installed. If you want to approve occasional purchases, use iOS Always Require or Android authentication for all Google Play purchases, and keep the credential private. On PlayStation, set the child account’s Monthly Spending Limit to the amount you are prepared to allow. On Nintendo Switch, configure the available purchase restriction through the console controls or Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app and verify that it is attached to the child’s Nintendo account.
After saving the control, verify the device, user profile, and billing route together. That three-part check is what determines whether the restriction will protect the actual Disney Magic Kingdoms purchase screen your child can reach.
