The most reliable method is to use Formula 1’s current race-calendar page, select Add F1 calendar, and subscribe to the calendar in your phone’s calendar app. Then turn on event alerts and open the next race entry to confirm its time zone and notification.
If the official button does not produce a usable subscription on your device, use a calendar feed or .ics file as a fallback. A subscription can receive schedule changes; a one-time .ics import may remain unchanged, so check the live Formula 1 schedule before important race weekends.
How to set a reminder for a Formula 1 race on your phone
Follow these steps for the built-in calendar on an iPhone, Android phone, or another mobile device. Menu names differ between calendar apps, but the sequence is the same: add the official schedule, enable alerts, and verify one event.
- Open Formula 1’s current race calendar. Use the official 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship Race Calendar page rather than an old screenshot, saved file, or social-media schedule.
- Select “Add F1 calendar.” This control is displayed on the current Formula 1 schedule page. Your browser may open a calendar prompt, a subscription screen, or an
.icsfile. - Accept the calendar prompt. Choose your phone’s calendar app when asked, select the account or calendar where you want the races stored, and confirm the subscription or import.
- Enable alerts. In the calendar app, make sure notifications are allowed and that the race event has an alert time, such as one hour before the start.
- Check the next event manually. Open the event, confirm the calendar assignment, local time zone, start time, and alert. This catches an accidental import into a hidden calendar or a time-zone conversion you did not expect.
- Recheck before a race weekend. Race dates and session times can change. A subscribed calendar may refresh automatically, while a one-time import will not necessarily receive later edits.
Why the live Formula 1 calendar matters
Calendar data is volatile, so the current official page should be your primary source. When it was accessed on October 13, 2026, it showed the United States Grand Prix as the next event, scheduled for October 23–25, and displayed 23 rounds. It also showed the unusual label “Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.”

Those details do not match Formula 1’s earlier September 16, 2025 announcement, which described a 24-race campaign and placed Bahrain in April. The announcement also described the season as running from Australia on March 6–8 to Abu Dhabi on December 4–6. Treat those announcement-era details as historical information, not as proof of what the live calendar currently contains.
Before subscribing, look at the live page and make sure the next race and its date are the ones you expect. Do not copy a complete season from an older article or third-party calendar when the official page is available.
Set up the calendar on an iPhone
Add the official schedule
Open the official Formula 1 schedule in Safari or another browser and tap Add F1 calendar. If iOS presents a subscription or calendar prompt, follow it and choose the calendar account you normally use. If an .ics file opens instead, use the share or open-in option to send it to Calendar, then confirm the import.

The exact prompt is not guaranteed to look identical on every iPhone. It can depend on the iOS release, the browser, the calendar account, and whether the item is a subscription or a file import.
Check calendar accounts and default alerts
Apple documents calendar account management at Settings > Apps > Calendar > Calendar Accounts. Confirm that the account receiving the F1 calendar is enabled for Calendar.

Apple’s documented default-alert controls are at Settings > Apps > Calendar > Default Alert Times. There you can set defaults for Events and All-Day Events. Choose an alert interval that gives you enough preparation time, then open an individual race event to verify that the alert was applied.
Default Alert Times are not a promise that every imported or subscribed event will be rewritten in bulk. A calendar provider can supply its own event settings, and an individual event can have a different alert. Treat the event-level check as mandatory after adding the schedule.

Apple notes that accounts without Push may update according to a Fetch schedule. That means a subscribed calendar can take time to show a newly announced change. If the official page has changed but your phone still shows the old event, open Calendar, refresh the account if your app offers that control, and check again later. For an important race, compare the event with the current official schedule instead of assuming the phone has refreshed.
Set up the calendar on Android or another phone
Use the calendar prompt when available
On Android, open the official schedule in your mobile browser and select Add F1 calendar. If the browser offers a calendar application, choose it and accept the subscription. In the calendar app, open its settings and verify that the new calendar is visible, synchronized, and allowed to send notifications.
Android calendar applications use different labels and account screens. Look for controls named Add calendar, Subscribe, From URL, Import, or Open file. Do not assume that tapping a downloaded file created a live subscription; it may have created only a fixed copy of the events.

Use a feed URL when your app supports subscriptions
If the official button gives you a calendar address, add it through the calendar app’s subscription option. A subscription is preferable when available because the provider can publish changes to existing events. After adding it, open the calendar’s settings and enable notifications for that calendar and for individual events.

When a phone cannot subscribe directly, download the .ics file, open it with the calendar app, and confirm the destination calendar. Imported events may not update when a circuit, date, or start time changes. Keep the official schedule bookmarked so you can compare it before each race.
Fallback: a calendar feed or .ics file
A cross-platform calendar guide from When’s the Race describes feed subscriptions and downloadable .ics options for Google, Apple, and Outlook calendars. This is a general workaround when the official add flow does not produce a usable prompt on your phone.
That guide is not Formula 1’s official calendar. Use it only as an installation method, and verify the schedule against Formula 1’s live page. A third-party feed can be stale, omit a session, or use different event titles even when the subscription itself works.
Subscribe to a feed
- Obtain the calendar feed address from the guide or service you have chosen.
- In your calendar provider, choose the option to add a calendar by URL or subscribe to an internet calendar.
- Paste the feed address and select the account that should receive it.
- Save the subscription, then wait for the provider to fetch the events.
- Open one race and check its time zone, alert, and calendar visibility.
Import a file
- Download the
.icsfile. - Open it with your calendar application or use the app’s Import command.
- Choose the destination calendar and confirm.
- Check whether the events are marked as imported rather than subscribed.
- Compare the next race with Formula 1’s current official page before relying on the reminder.
Choose when the notification should arrive
The calendar event’s alert determines when your phone notifies you. A practical choice is one hour before the Grand Prix, but you can choose a longer lead time if you need to prepare, travel, or find a broadcast.

Set a default only if you want the same timing for many events. Otherwise, open each race and change its alert individually. This is especially useful if the calendar contains practice, qualifying, sprint, and Grand Prix sessions that need different preparation times.
- One alert per race: simplest setup when you only want the Grand Prix.
- Multiple alerts: useful if you want an early warning and a second reminder shortly before the start.
- Session-specific alerts: better when practice, qualifying, sprint, and race entries are separate events.
After choosing an alert, make sure calendar notifications are permitted at the operating-system level. A calendar event can contain an alert while the phone blocks the app’s notifications, producing no visible reminder.
Grand Prix only, or every F1 session?
The official calendar route is the least complicated way to receive the season schedule, but it may not give you fine control over which sessions generate alerts. Decide what you actually want before adding additional software.

The App Store listing for Formula Calendar 2026 describes selectable sessions and configurable alerts, but its unofficial status matters. It should supplement, not replace, the official Formula 1 schedule when dates or venues change.
Verify time zones and race times
Open the next event after adding the calendar and inspect its time-zone information. Calendar apps can convert an event from the venue’s local time to the time zone configured on your phone. That conversion is useful when you are traveling, but it can look wrong if you expected the venue’s clock time.

Formula 1’s September 16, 2025 announcement reported 2026 start times in local venue time. Those were announcement-era times and do not establish that every time currently shown in the live calendar is unchanged. Use the event in the current official calendar as the final check.
If you travel, confirm the phone’s automatic time-zone setting and revisit the event after arrival. A reminder set for a local venue time can appear at a different clock time when the device changes time zones, even though it still represents the same instant.
Troubleshoot a missing or late reminder
The calendar was added, but no notification appeared
- Open the event and check that an alert is listed; an event without an alert will not notify you.
- Confirm that calendar notifications are allowed in the phone’s system settings.
- Make sure the calendar itself is selected for display and notifications.
- Check the phone’s scheduled focus, quiet, or do-not-disturb settings if alerts from other apps are also being suppressed.
- Create a test event a few minutes ahead to verify that the calendar app can deliver alerts.
The event time is wrong
- Open the event and inspect its time-zone label.
- Check the phone’s date, time, and automatic time-zone settings.
- Compare the event with the current official Formula 1 page, not with the 2025 announcement or an old downloaded schedule.
- If the event came from an
.icsimport, remember that a file can preserve outdated times until you import a corrected version.
The calendar has not reflected a schedule change
- Determine whether you added a live subscription or a one-time file.
- Refresh the calendar account if the app provides a refresh control.
- On iPhone, remember that an account without Push may update on a Fetch schedule.
- Check the official page directly before the race and replace a stale import if necessary.
You see duplicate race events
Duplicates usually mean that both the official calendar and a feed or file were added. Hide or remove one calendar after identifying which entry is subscribed and which is a static import. Keep the source whose update behavior and session coverage match your needs.
A practice or qualifying session is missing
Not every calendar contains the same session set. Check the event list on the official calendar first. If you need selectable practice, qualifying, sprint, and race alerts, an unofficial session-reminder app may offer that control, but verify its dates against Formula 1’s live page.
A dependable setup for race day
- Subscribe through the official Add F1 calendar control whenever your phone supports it.
- Use a feed or
.icsfallback only when the official flow is unusable, and label third-party calendars clearly in your app. - Set an alert for the Grand Prix, then open the next event to verify the time zone and calendar.
- Keep calendar notifications enabled and test one reminder before relying on it.
- Check Formula 1’s current schedule before each race weekend, especially while the 2026 calendar is showing a different round count and Bahrain labeling than the earlier announcement.
This approach gives you a phone notification without requiring a separate physical device or printed schedule, while preserving a way to catch calendar changes that a static import would miss.
