Where you find poll results in Microsoft Teams depends on the poll type. For a poll posted in a chat or channel, open the poll card and choose More. For a meeting poll, open the meeting’s Polls tab or the Polls pane and choose View results.
The options available also depend on your role. Meeting owners and presenters can manage meeting polls, while only the person who created a chat or channel poll can manage it.
See results from a poll in a Teams chat or channel
Use these steps for a poll posted directly in a one-to-one chat, group chat, or channel conversation:

- Find the poll card.
- Select More on the poll card.
- Review the Responses Overview page, which opens in Microsoft Forms.
The overview can show whether the poll is active or inactive, the number of responses, average completion time, availability duration, and the total for each answer. Results update as people submit votes.

If the poll is still accepting responses, a participant selects an option and chooses Submit Vote. The poll creator can use the results page to manage the response data.
See individual voters and their answers
If the poll was configured to record respondent names, select More details in the results view. This shows each participant’s name and answer. The Record names of respondents setting specifies that only the poll creator can see those responses.
If names were not recorded, you should not expect the results page to identify individual voters.

Export or manage chat and channel poll results
From the poll’s results view, use the relevant option for the task:

These management controls are available to the person who created the chat or channel poll. A participant may be able to vote and see whatever summary the poll exposes, but cannot manage someone else’s poll.

View chat or channel poll results on a phone
- Open the chat or channel containing the poll in the Teams mobile app.
- Select View Result on the poll card.
- Read the Participation Summary to see participants and their choices.
- Use the adjacent tab to see people who did not vote.
Only the poll creator can manage the poll. On mobile, the management controls are under View Result, then the upper-right Menu (…) .
See results from a Teams meeting poll
Meeting polls are separate from ordinary chat and channel polls. On desktop or the web, use the meeting’s Polls tab or the Polls pane.

- Select the scheduled meeting.
- Choose Chat with participants.
- Select Add a tab.
- Search for and select Polls.
- Select Add, then Save.
- Open the meeting’s Polls tab to see the polls and their statuses.
- Select View results for the poll you want to inspect.
A poll that is accepting responses is marked LIVE in red. A poll that has been closed is marked CLOSED in dark gray.
Export, close, reopen, or delete a meeting poll
Select the drop-down menu next to View results and choose the required action:
- Close poll stops further voting.
- Export results saves the results for use outside Teams.
- Delete poll removes the meeting poll.
To reopen a closed poll, select the drop-down next to Export results, then choose Reopen poll.

Only meeting owners and presenters can create, manage, and launch meeting polls. Attendees can submit an answer, but they cannot edit the poll or control its results.

During the meeting, open the Polls pane from the meeting window, or open the meeting’s Polls tab. The result view changes as attendees vote. Participants select an answer and choose Submit. They can also dismiss the poll notification without voting; the poll remains available in the meeting chat.
Find meeting poll results on mobile
The meeting poll must be added using Teams desktop or the web before mobile attendees can access it. In the Teams mobile app:
- Open the meeting chat.
- Select the meeting chat icon.
- Open the More tab.
- Select Polls, then choose the poll.
Microsoft’s documentation still refers to adding Forms in the mobile setup instructions, while the current desktop and web path uses Polls. If you do not see one label, look for the other where your Teams version provides it.
What to do if you cannot see the results

| An external attendee does not receive the poll notification | A person using a forwarded invitation from outside the team or organization may need to open the meeting Chat and find the poll there. They may vote on Teams for the web but cannot create or edit polls. |
| The expected poll type is unavailable | Availability varies by tenant and environment. Multiple Choice Poll and Multiple Choice Quiz are unavailable in GCC High and DoD environments; Word Cloud Poll is also unavailable there and is still rolling out to Microsoft 365 subscribers. |
Important limits and behavior
- A meeting Multiple Choice Poll supports up to 12 answer options.
- The chat or channel poll instructions for mobile specify a limit of 10 choices.
- Town hall poll data remains available for up to 36 hours after the event ends. Town halls support polls for up to 20,000 attendees, but do not support Word Cloud Polls.
- The current meeting-poll experience uses the Polls app rather than the old Forms setup on desktop and web. The replacement began rolling out in August 2024.
- Older polls created with the former Poll app are not automatically deleted. They remain as previous poll cards in Teams chats, and Microsoft recommends downloading their results as a backup.
There is no Teams command or command-line syntax for viewing poll results. The supported process uses the Teams interface: More, View Result, View results, Open results in Excel, or Export results, depending on where the poll was created.

Why can’t I see the results of a Teams poll?
You may be viewing the poll as a participant rather than its creator, meeting owner, or presenter. For a chat or channel poll, only its creator can manage it. For a meeting poll, only meeting owners and presenters can manage results. Also check that you opened the correct chat, channel, meeting Polls tab, or Polls pane.
How do I download poll results from Teams?
For a chat or channel poll, open the poll, select More, and choose Open results in Excel. For a meeting poll, open the Polls tab or pane, select the menu next to View results, and choose Export results.
Can I see who voted in a Teams poll?
Only when respondent names were recorded. In a chat or channel poll, open the Responses Overview page and select More details. If names were not recorded, the results are not presented as an identified list of voters.
Can attendees manage a meeting poll?
No. Attendees can select an answer and choose Submit, but only meeting owners and presenters can create, edit, launch, close, reopen, export, or delete meeting polls.
Are Teams meeting polls still created with Forms?
On the current desktop and web experience, Microsoft’s setup path uses the Polls app: Calendar, the scheduled meeting, Chat with participants, Add a tab, Polls, Add, and Save. Microsoft’s mobile documentation still mentions Forms, so the label can differ by platform or Teams version.
The Bottom Line
For a chat or channel poll, open the poll card and select More to reach Microsoft Forms’ Responses Overview. For a meeting poll, open the meeting’s Polls tab or pane and select View results. Use Open results in Excel or Export results when you need a copy, and remember that management access is limited to the poll creator or authorized meeting presenters.
