Buffer lets you prepare TikTok posts and either publish supported posts automatically or receive a reminder to finish them in TikTok. Connect your account, create the post, choose a publishing method, and schedule a queue slot or a specific time. The right method depends on whether you need TikTok-native features, and you should check the connected channel’s timezone before relying on a scheduled time.
How to schedule TikTok posts in Buffer
- Connect TikTok. Add your TikTok account to Buffer, then open its TikTok channel.
- Compose the post. Start a new post, upload your video, add a caption and relevant hashtags, then review the preview and thumbnail.
- Choose how it will publish. Select Automatic for supported content that can publish through Buffer, or Notify Me if you want to complete the post in TikTok.
- Set the time. Choose the next available queue slot or select a specific date and time. Check the channel’s timezone so the displayed time matches your intended publishing time.
- Prepare for a notification handoff, if applicable. Install the Buffer mobile app and enable push notifications. At the scheduled time, tap the alert and finish publishing in TikTok.
Buffer’s May 2026 scheduling guide describes this workflow. Interface labels can change, so they may not look exactly the same in every account.
Automatic publishing or a TikTok notification?
Automatic publishing sends supported content at the scheduled time. Notification publishing is a handoff: Buffer alerts you, and you complete the post in TikTok. Choose the handoff when you need TikTok-native features, such as trending audio, that may not be available through Buffer’s automatic path. - Choose Automatic when the post’s content and settings are supported by the integration and you want Buffer to publish it at the scheduled time.
- Choose Notify Me when you want to finish or customize the post in TikTok. Be available with the Buffer app and notifications enabled at the scheduled time; the reminder does not publish the post for you.
Buffer versus TikTok’s native web scheduler
Buffer’s May 2026 guide describes these differences between its service and TikTok’s native web scheduler. They are vendor-reported details, not an independent feature audit, and platform capabilities can change.

Check the timezone before scheduling
Buffer assigns a timezone and posting schedule to each connected channel. If your browser’s timezone differs from the channel’s, a time shown in the interface may look different from the intended channel-local publishing time. Review the channel setting and schedule accordingly; Buffer explains this in its timezone and posting-schedule help article.

How to choose a time without treating averages as a promise
Buffer’s 2026 timing article describes an analysis of 7.1 million posts; its title rounds that figure to “7M Posts.” Buffer’s May 2026 scheduling guide reports Sunday at 9 a.m. as its best overall time. These are aggregate findings from Buffer, not a guarantee for a particular account or audience. Use them as a starting point, then compare results with your own audience analytics. Queue capacity is also plan-dependent. Buffer’s scheduling help page reports a maximum of 10 queued scheduled posts for free users and 5,000 for paid users at the time of access. Because plan limits can change, check the current Buffer scheduling help page before planning around those figures.
