WhatsApp message scheduling is appearing for some Android beta testers, but it is not a universal control yet. When your account has the feature, write the message in an individual or group chat and press and hold Send; a scheduling panel should appear. The Android beta flow reported on October 12, 2026 supports delivery from 10 minutes to two weeks ahead. If holding Send does nothing, update WhatsApp and check again later—the rollout is account-dependent, and no setting or workaround is proven to force-enable it.
What Android users can access now
WABetaInfo reported on October 12, 2026 that scheduled messages were rolling out to some WhatsApp beta testers on Android. The report identified beta version 2.26.40.7, but installing that version does not guarantee access because WhatsApp is enabling the control for selected accounts and expanding it gradually over the following weeks. The report is beta coverage rather than an official consumer help article, so labels, limits and availability may change.
General stable-app availability was not established by that report. An Android phone can therefore be fully updated and still lack scheduling. The decisive test is whether the scheduling panel appears after you press and hold the Send button in a chat. There is no published percentage of Android users with access, and no named WhatsApp spokesperson has confirmed a universal launch date.
That distinction matters when troubleshooting. A missing control usually means an account has not been included yet, not that the phone, Android version or chat is necessarily defective. Treat the feature as an account-level rollout until WhatsApp documents broader availability.

How to schedule a WhatsApp message when the control is available
- Open the conversation. Enter either an individual chat or a group chat. Make sure you are in the chat where the eventual recipient should receive the message.
- Compose the message. Type the text or link, or attach the photo or video you want WhatsApp to deliver later. The reported beta flow supports these content types.
- Press and hold Send. Do not simply tap the button. The reported beta entry point is a long press on Send after the message is ready. Holding it should open the scheduling controls rather than send immediately.
- Choose the delivery date and time. Use the scheduling panel to select a time within the available window. The reported limits are at least 10 minutes in the future and no more than two weeks ahead.
- Confirm the scheduled send. After confirmation, the item remains pending until the selected time. If the panel closes without confirmation, nothing has been scheduled.
To inspect or remove a pending item, open the chat-info screen and look for its scheduled-messages section. The reported beta flow lets you review, manage or delete a scheduled message before delivery. This check is useful for confirming that the date, time and recipient chat are correct.
Before you confirm the time
Read the selected date and time carefully, especially when scheduling across midnight or near the two-week boundary. The available reports establish the range, but they do not document every time-zone or daylight-saving edge case. If the timing is critical, verify the pending entry in chat info and keep a reminder as a secondary prompt until you know how your account behaves.

Scheduling text, links and media
The reported flow is not limited to plain text. It also accepts links, photos and videos. A photo or video send is limited to one item at a time, so the beta report does not establish support for scheduling a batch or mixed media selection in one operation. If you need to send several images, schedule each as a separate message only if the interface allows it, or use a reminder and send the group manually.
A link is treated as message content, not as a special alert. Check the link before scheduling because the recipient will receive the eventual message without seeing a scheduling marker.
Offline delivery and a closed app
According to the beta report, a scheduled item can send even when the Android device is offline and WhatsApp is closed. This is a reported beta capability rather than a promise that every account, future version or network condition will behave identically. If a message is important, check the pending entry in the chat-info screen rather than assuming that every future build will preserve the same behavior.
Do not confuse this report with a guarantee that a failed or deleted account can deliver messages without service. The reported behavior concerns a message that was already scheduled successfully. It does not establish how long WhatsApp retains a failed item, how retries are displayed, or what happens after an account is logged out or moved to another phone.
Group-chat timing rules
For groups, membership is evaluated when you schedule the message. Members who join afterward are excluded from that scheduled delivery. This matters for a group whose membership changes between scheduling and send time: adding someone later does not add them to the already scheduled recipient set.
Conversely, someone who was present when you scheduled remains in the intended recipient set even if the group changes before delivery, subject to whatever account and group status WhatsApp applies at send time. The report specifically establishes the exclusion of people added later; it does not describe every possible removal, blocking or privacy scenario.

What recipients can and cannot tell
Recipients do not get an indicator that the sender scheduled the message. If you delete the pending item before delivery, WhatsApp does not send a deletion notice to the intended recipient because the message was never delivered. Scheduling is therefore an unseen preparation step, not a visible “scheduled” label in the conversation.
Why the scheduling option may be missing
If a long press on Send does not open scheduling controls, the most supported explanation is that the gradual rollout has not reached your account. The October 12 report described access as limited to some beta testers and said it was expanding over the following weeks. A missing button is therefore not, by itself, evidence that your phone is incompatible or that you missed a hidden menu.
Use the correct gesture and chat flow
- Open the chat first and enter a message in the composer.
- Press and hold the Send button instead of tapping it briefly.
- Try the check in both an individual conversation and a group conversation if you need to determine whether the control is available on your account.
- Use a simple text test first. That can show whether the control is absent generally before you spend time preparing media.
The cited beta flow does not place scheduling under a general overflow-menu command called “Schedule message.” Searching that menu will not substitute for the reported long-press gesture. If a normal tap sends the message immediately, that is expected behavior; the scheduling panel is associated with holding Send.
Update WhatsApp, then allow for account rollout
Install the latest WhatsApp update offered through your official app store and test the long press again. Version 2.26.40.7 was the compatible beta version identified in the report, but version matching alone does not establish eligibility. If the control is still absent after updating, check again later as the account rollout expands.
Keep in mind that beta availability can change between builds. An update may alter wording, move the management area or temporarily remove an experimental control. Record the version shown in WhatsApp’s app information if you need to report a problem, but do not treat the version number as an activation code.
Actions that have no established guarantee
The available sources do not establish that joining a beta program, reinstalling WhatsApp, changing an Android setting or sideloading an APK will activate scheduling. None of those actions should be presented as a reliable enablement method. Sideloading an unofficial package also introduces avoidable security and account risks without evidence that it will unlock the feature.
Clearing storage, changing battery-optimization settings or switching launchers likewise has no documented connection to receiving the account rollout. Avoid repeated reinstalls that could create backup or verification complications when there is no evidence they change eligibility.
If you need to send the message at a specific time today
Use a reminder rather than assuming the pending send exists. Create a calendar event or phone reminder for the intended time, include the recipient and message text in the reminder, and send the message manually when the alert appears. This is a prompt to act, not automatic WhatsApp delivery.
Reminder workaround: what it does and what it cannot do
A calendar or reminder app is the dependable fallback when your WhatsApp account has no scheduling control. Set the reminder for the desired send time, copy the message into its notes, and include enough context to identify the correct chat. When notified, open WhatsApp, open that chat and tap Send yourself.

The reviewed information does not establish a safe, reliable third-party application that automatically sends personal WhatsApp messages. Treat claims that an unrelated scheduler can guarantee delivery as unverified unless WhatsApp documents and supports that workflow. Apps that request broad accessibility, notification or account permissions deserve particular caution because the sources do not endorse them.

WhatsApp Business includes tools that sound similar but solve different problems. They do not prove that ordinary personal chats have the same scheduling control.
Business away messages
WhatsApp’s Help Center describes away messages as automatic replies to people who contact a business. A business can set the response to run always, on a custom schedule or outside business hours. The outside-business-hours choice requires business hours to be configured in the business profile, and the feature requires an active internet connection.
An away message is reactive: it answers an incoming contact. It is not a personal message that you compose now and direct to a chosen chat for delivery later. It also does not let a business pick an arbitrary future delivery time for a new outbound conversation.
Business marketing messages
A separate WhatsApp Help Center workflow covers scheduling a marketing message. That documentation describes payment for marketing messages and says the device must be connected when the message is due. This is a business marketing workflow, not evidence that a standard personal account can schedule ordinary one-to-one or group messages through the same controls.

Practical scenarios
Sending a birthday message next week
If your account shows the control, schedule the text in the person’s individual chat and verify it in chat info. A date seven days away is within the reported two-week maximum. If the control is absent, create a reminder with the exact wording and recipient name, then send manually.
Sending an update to a changing group
Schedule only after confirming the current membership. Someone added afterward will not receive that scheduled item according to the beta report. For a rapidly changing group, a reminder may be safer because you can review the membership immediately before sending.
Sending one image at a set time
The reported beta supports one photo or one video per scheduled send. Do not assume that selecting several images will create one scheduled batch. If the composer does not accept the attachment, use a reminder and send the media manually.

Checks before relying on a scheduled send
- Confirm the pending item exists. After scheduling, open the chat-info screen and verify that the scheduled-messages section shows it.
- Check the timing window. The reported beta accepts times only from 10 minutes ahead through two weeks ahead.
- Check group membership. Anyone added after scheduling is outside the reported recipient set.
- Check media quantity. Schedule one photo or one video per send rather than assuming a multi-item attachment will work.
