The simplest way to pay less for digital PS4 and PS5 games is to combine three habits: add interesting games to the official PlayStation wishlist, enable wishlist notifications, and verify the live offer on the Store Deals page before you buy. An independent tracker is optional when you need price history or coverage for several regions. Prices, discount percentages, availability and end dates vary by country and can change while a promotion is running, so treat every alert as a prompt to check your own Store region—not as a guaranteed price or delivery time.
A low-effort system for buying at a better time
You do not need to monitor every sale manually. Use the official wishlist as your watch list, let PlayStation send discount and catalog notifications, and make the final decision from the current Store listing. This separates discovery from purchasing: you can save a game months before you intend to play it, then review the price only when an alert or your regular check tells you something changed.
- Save the game: select the heart-shaped wishlist control on its Store page.
- Enable alerts: turn on Wishlist Updates on your PS5 and in the PlayStation App.
- Verify the offer: open the official Deals page or the game’s Store page and check the price and end date for your account’s region.
- Use extra context only when useful: an independent tracker can show historical prices, regional listings and PlayStation Plus information, but its collected data may be out of date.
- Choose a timing strategy: buy during a confirmed sale, wait for another promotion, or wait to see whether the title enters the PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium catalog.
PlayStation’s official feature guidance says wishlist updates can identify discounts or price reductions and can also notify you when a wishlisted game is added to the PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium catalog. It does not promise that every notification arrives instantly, and no fixed savings amount is guaranteed.
Build your PlayStation wishlist once
Add a game from its Store page
Open the game’s page in the PlayStation Store and select the heart icon. Sony says the wishlist is available on PS5, in the official PlayStation App for iOS and Android, and in a PC browser. Add games as soon as you become interested in them, even if you are not ready to buy. The list then becomes a single place to monitor instead of relying on memory or scattered bookmarks.

Organize the list on PS5
On PS5, wishlist entries can be sorted by release date, price, name or date added. Sorting by price helps you inspect lower-cost candidates first; sorting by release date is useful when you are waiting for a new launch to receive its first discount; sorting by date added shows the games you recently decided to track. Pick the sort that matches the decision you are making rather than treating the wishlist as a permanent ranking of what you should buy.
Keep the list decision-ready
- Remove games you no longer expect to play. A shorter list makes notifications and sale checks more meaningful.
- Keep only the edition you would actually purchase when multiple editions or bundles appear.
- Leave a game on the list if you are waiting for a particular expansion, performance update or lower price; the alert can still serve as a reminder to reassess.
- Remember that a wishlist entry is not a reservation. The price and contents can change before you purchase.
Turn on wishlist notifications
PS5 settings path
- From the PS5 home screen, open Settings.
- Select Notifications.
- Open Wishlist Updates.
- Enable the available popup options.
Sony’s guidance notes that PS5 popups for games, videos and broadcasts are off by default. If you expect a notification but do not see one, check this settings area first, then review the console’s broader notification and privacy settings.
PlayStation App settings path
- Open the PlayStation App on iOS or Android.
- Open Settings.
- Select Push Notifications.
- Open Accounts and Offers.
- Turn on Wishlist Updates.
Your phone’s operating-system notification permission also needs to allow the PlayStation App to display alerts. The app setting controls the feature, while the phone’s system setting controls whether those alerts can appear on the device.

What an alert means
An alert can flag a discount or price reduction for a wishlisted game, or tell you that the game has joined the PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium catalog. It is an automatic notification, not a guarantee of immediate delivery, a specific discount level or continued stock of a particular edition. Open the Store listing after receiving it and make the purchase decision from the current information.
Use the live PlayStation Store Deals page as the source of truth
The official PlayStation Store Deals page is the place to check current sales and promotions. Sony describes Store offers as running throughout the year, but the exact campaigns and dates differ by market. A sale banner or notification can be stale by the time you act, so verify the live listing before paying.
Check these details before selecting Buy
- Final price: confirm the amount shown for your signed-in account and Store region.
- Offer end date: note the displayed end date and time; do not assume a promotion remains available until the end of the calendar day in your local time.
- Edition and contents: compare the standard game, deluxe editions, bundles and upgrade products so a lower headline price is not mistaken for the version you want.
- Platform: check whether the listing covers PS4, PS5 or both, especially when cross-generation entitlements differ.
- Subscription status: if you already claim a PlayStation Plus benefit, the purchase page may present different options or eligibility.
Understand dated sale examples
Sony’s US sales-and-events information lists the following 2026 examples. They illustrate how to read a campaign schedule, not a promise that the same dates will recur.

Add an independent price tracker only when it solves a real problem
PlatPrices describes an independent service for PS4 and PS5 price tracking. Its listed features include price history, sale history, PlayStation Plus deal information, wishlist alerts and coverage across more than 40 regions. That can be useful when you want to know whether today’s price is unusually low or when you compare availability across regions.
What a tracker can add
- Historical context: a chart or previous-sale record can show whether waiting might plausibly produce another discount.
- Regional coverage: listings across many regions help travelers or households that use more than one Store account understand regional differences.
- Extra alerts: a second notification channel can help when you do not regularly open the console or app.
- Catalog context: PlayStation Plus deal or catalog information can be considered alongside a purchase price.
Its important limitation
PlatPrices states that it is not affiliated with Sony or PlayStation and warns that automatically collected prices may be out of date. Use it for context, not as the checkout authority. Before buying, open the current Store page for your own region and confirm the live price, edition, eligibility and end date.
A safe tracker workflow
- Use the official wishlist for the games you genuinely might play.
- Use the tracker to inspect historical and regional information only when that context affects your decision.
- Compare the tracker’s displayed offer with the signed-in Store listing.
- Ignore a historical low if the current edition, region or subscription eligibility is different.
- Purchase only after the official Store confirms the amount and terms.
Buy during a sale or wait for PlayStation Plus?
A wishlist alert can notify you both about a price reduction and about a game entering the PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium catalog. That creates a real timing choice, but there is no universal answer: the value of a subscription depends on your region, current subscription terms and how many catalog games you will actually play.

Do not treat a catalog notification as a permanent entitlement. Catalog inclusion can be subject to the subscription tier, region and the period in which the game remains available. Check the current PlayStation Plus listing before changing your purchase plan.

Build a five-minute weekly routine
A short, repeatable check prevents impulse purchases without turning deal hunting into a second job.
- Open your wishlist: scan newly added games and remove anything you no longer want.
- Review notifications: open recent wishlist alerts and identify which games actually changed price or catalog status.
- Check the live Deals page: look for the game’s current Store price and offer end date.
- Compare editions: confirm the platform, included content and upgrade rights you need.
- Use history selectively: consult an independent tracker only when you are deciding whether to buy now or wait.
- Make one of three decisions: buy at the verified price, wait for a future promotion, or wait for confirmed catalog access.
Set a personal rule before you browse—for example, buy only games you expect to start within the next few weeks, or only prices that fit a pre-set monthly budget. The rule is yours; the Store cannot guarantee that a later sale will be lower.

No single option is universally best. The wishlist requires the least effort, the official Deals page gives the final live answer, and an independent tracker is most useful when historical or multi-region context changes your decision.
Troubleshoot missing alerts and unexpected prices
No wishlist notification appears
- Confirm the game is still saved with the heart control.
- On PS5, revisit Settings → Notifications → Wishlist Updates and enable popups.
- In the PlayStation App, revisit Settings → Push Notifications → Accounts and Offers → Wishlist Updates.
- Check the phone’s system-level notification permission for the PlayStation App.
- Open the Store manually. An alert system is useful, but the absence of a popup does not prove that no sale exists.
The alert price differs from checkout
- Check that you are signed in to the intended account and Store region.
- Compare the edition, bundle and platform shown in the alert with the current product page.
- Look for an expired promotion or a changed offer end date.
- If a third-party tracker supplied the figure, treat its data as potentially stale and rely on the live Store price.
A game is in a PlayStation Plus catalog but cannot be claimed
- Confirm that your subscription tier is Extra or Premium, as applicable to the listing.
- Check regional availability and the current catalog page.
- Verify that you are viewing the catalog entitlement rather than a separately sold edition or add-on.
Final checklist before you spend
- The game is on your official wishlist, if you want ongoing alerts.
- PS5 and PlayStation App Wishlist Updates are enabled where you expect to receive them.
- The live Store page shows the price you are willing to pay.
- The offer end date is still in the future for your region.
- The edition, platform and included content match your plan.
- You have considered whether confirmed PlayStation Plus catalog access changes the timing decision.
- Any tracker price history has been checked against the current official Store listing.
This routine keeps the decision simple: wishlist for monitoring, notifications for prompts, the official Deals page for the current transaction, and independent history only for additional context.
