To make a foldable last longer during Pokémon GO sessions, dim the screen, use the game’s Battery Saver when its screen-off behavior suits how you play, and keep the phone cool. Keep Location Services enabled for active play. Your phone’s own power-saving mode may help, but it can interfere with background activity or location-dependent features such as Adventure Sync.
Start with Pokémon GO’s Battery Saver
The game’s Battery Saver is not the same as your phone’s power-saving mode. In Pokémon GO, it turns off the display when you point the phone downward. The game continues tracking distance as if the display were on, and the phone can still vibrate for nearby Pokémon if Vibration is enabled, according to the Pokémon GO Help Center.
This is useful when you can carry the phone pointed down and rely on vibration alerts. It does not reduce GPS use, and it is not a good fit if you need to watch the screen continuously. Enable it in the game’s settings and test the behavior before relying on it during a long session; labels and menu locations can change between app versions.

The display is one of the most practical controls you can adjust. Android recommends reducing brightness and shortening the screen timeout to conserve battery. Outdoors, lower brightness only as far as you can still comfortably read the map and catch details.

On a foldable, use the smaller outer screen when it is sufficient for the task, rather than keeping the larger inner display lit unnecessarily. This is a practical application of general display-saving guidance, not a measured battery result for a particular foldable. Android’s broader battery guidance is available in its battery-saving recommendations.
Use phone-level power saving carefully
Android or manufacturer power-saving modes can reduce consumption, but their effects vary by phone and software version. On some Galaxy devices, Samsung says power saving restricts background Wi-Fi and mobile data and may limit location services. That can affect features that depend on background activity.

Pokémon Support lists GPS and Location Services as requirements for Pokémon GO. Keep them enabled while playing; turning off location is not a suitable way to save power during active gameplay. If Adventure Sync matters to you, check that distance tracking still works after changing the phone’s power-saving settings. Niantic notes that phone-level battery modes can sometimes affect Adventure Sync, unlike the game’s own Battery Saver. Keep the foldable cool
Heat can increase battery drain. Google says a phone’s battery drains much faster when it is hot, even when the device is not in use, and that heat-related drain can damage the battery. During outdoor play, move the phone out of direct sun when possible. If it becomes hot, pause and let it cool rather than continuing to play in the heat. There is no single game-specific safe temperature threshold established here.

Bring a portable battery for long sessions away from outlets
A portable battery pack does not reduce the phone’s power use; it adds energy you can draw on away from an outlet. Samsung describes rechargeable packs as useful for battery-intensive activities such as gaming. Since the phone continues using power while Pokémon GO is open, charging during play may replenish the battery more slowly than charging while idle.

Samsung’s regional guidance says Galaxy Z devices use USB-C, but the phone’s brand, model, and region are not specified here. - Turn on Pokémon GO’s Battery Saver if you can carry the phone pointed downward and use vibration alerts.
- Dim the active screen while keeping it readable, and avoid leaving the larger inner display on when you do not need it.
- Leave GPS and Location Services on during active play.
- Use phone-level power saving only if its effects on live play and Adventure Sync are acceptable.
- Move the phone out of direct sun and take a cooling break if it becomes hot.
- For long outings, bring a compatible battery pack and confirm its output and cable.
Official sources do not establish a specific percentage of battery saved or extra playtime for Pokémon GO on a foldable. Actual results depend on the phone, screen, settings, signal, and playing conditions.
