To turn a picture already on your Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet into a PDF, open it in Gallery, tap More options (three dots) and choose Print if that option appears. In the print screen, select Save as PDF, tap the PDF button, choose where to save the file, and tap Save. You do not need a printer.
Which method should you use?

Convert an existing picture using the print menu
Samsung says supported apps can save printable content as a PDF instead of sending it to a physical printer. Gallery may include a Print action in an image’s More options menu, though menu placement varies by app and software version.
- Open the picture in Gallery.
- Tap More options (three dots) and look for Print. If the menu does not show it, try opening the picture in another app that supports printing and use that app’s Share or More options menu to find Print.
- On the print screen, tap Select printer and choose Save as PDF.
- Tap the PDF icon or PDF action, select a storage location, and tap Save.
The PDF is saved to the location you selected. Samsung notes that not every app supports printing, so a missing Print option does not necessarily mean your Galaxy cannot create a PDF.
Use Samsung Notes when you want to arrange or annotate the picture
If you want to add context or combine images, insert the picture into a Samsung Notes note first. Samsung’s workflow allows images from Gallery to be added to a note, which you can edit before exporting.

- Create or open a note in Samsung Notes.
- Add the picture from Gallery. Add any text or annotations you want, and arrange the content on the page.
- Tap More options (three vertical dots) > Save as file > PDF file.
- Choose a folder and tap Done. Name the file and save it.
Check the exported PDF before sharing it: a note’s page layout may not preserve the original image proportions exactly. Samsung Notes menu labels or feature availability can also differ by Notes version.
Scan paper first if the picture is not already on your device
For a document that exists only on paper, use the Galaxy Camera’s document recognition or scan workflow. Samsung says the captured scan is saved in Gallery; you can then add it to Samsung Notes and export the note as a PDF. This involves capturing the paper before making the PDF, unlike saving an existing Gallery image through the print menu.

If “Print” or “Save as PDF” is missing
- Print is not in Gallery: Samsung says Gallery’s image More options menu may include Print, but app menus are not identical. Try the Share or More options menu in another app that supports printing, or use Samsung Notes.
- Your app has no print action: Not all apps support printing. Use a different supported app or add the image to a Samsung Notes note and export it as a PDF.
- You cannot find Save as PDF: In the print screen, open Select printer and look for Save as PDF. The precise screen can vary with device, software, and app versions.
