Samsung Galaxy phones can check cable charging, wireless charging, and battery status through Samsung Members. If you removed the app, reinstall it from the Galaxy Store or Play Store—or, on Galaxy devices running Android 12 or later, open diagnostics from Settings.
Run charging diagnostics in Samsung Members

Open Samsung Members. If it is not installed, download it from the Galaxy Store or Play Store.

Tap Diagnostics on the Discover tab, or open the app’s Support tab, then choose Phone diagnostics.

Select Cable charging, Wireless charging, or Battery status, depending on the problem. You can also choose Test all; some checks require you to follow prompts or interact with the phone.

Follow the instructions on screen and review any suggestions or related FAQ shown with a result.
Samsung says test names and availability can vary by device and software version. Its current support guide does not give a universal total number of available tests.
Open diagnostics from Settings instead
On Galaxy devices running Android 12 or later, go to Settings > Device care > Diagnostics > Phone diagnostics. This built-in route avoids reinstalling Samsung Members. Availability and menu layout may still differ by model and software version. Samsung documents Samsung Members diagnostics for Galaxy phones and tablets.

Choose the checks that match the symptom

Charging by cable: Run Cable charging if the phone charges slowly or not at all while connected to a cable.

Charging wirelessly: Run Wireless charging if the issue occurs on a wireless charger.

Battery condition: Run Battery status if you want to check the phone’s battery assessment, including when charging trouble persists across methods.

You do not have to run every test to investigate one symptom. If you have a known-good cable compatible with your Galaxy model, comparing the result with it can help you check whether the cable is involved; a replacement is not necessarily required.
Understand the battery status result
Samsung’s battery guide describes three outcomes, rather than a precise remaining-capacity percentage:

Normal: Samsung indicates no battery issue.

Weak: Battery efficiency may have decreased through use or environmental conditions.

Bad: Samsung advises seeking advice at a local Samsung Support Centre.
The result is an assessment, not a measurement of exact battery capacity. Samsung’s UK guidance, updated 15 April 2026, explains these categories and the advice for a Bad result.
What a charging test can—and cannot—tell you
A diagnostic result is a useful first check, not proof that a particular component is faulty or a guarantee that a repair is needed. Samsung lists several possible causes of slow or failed charging: the battery, charging cable, power adapter, wireless charger, charging port, moisture detection, and device temperature. A test result should be considered alongside the conditions in which the problem occurs and any guidance shown by the app.

If the test indicates a problem, follow Samsung Members’ on-screen suggestions or related FAQ. For a Bad battery status, seek the support-centre advice Samsung recommends. If charging is still unreliable, remember that the diagnostic result alone may not identify which part or condition is responsible.
