Start by identifying three things before you click anything: the AI app, the Salesforce account or Slack workspace or Microsoft 365 tenant that authorized it, and whether the grant belongs to one user or was approved for everyone. Then match the grant to the platform control that can actually remove it. A personal token, a Slack member authorization, Microsoft Entra user consent, tenant-wide admin consent, and Teams resource-specific consent are different permission surfaces.
Deleting the AI app’s account, uninstalling a desktop client, or removing a browser extension does not by itself revoke an authorization held by Salesforce, Slack, or Microsoft Entra. Revoke the grant in the service that issued it. If you suspect misuse, preserve the app name, permissions, affected users, and relevant audit records before making broad changes.
Choose the right revocation target
The fastest safe response is the narrowest action that removes the unwanted access. Use this checklist to classify the situation before opening an administrative console.

For a suspected incident, write down the current app permissions and affected users first. Microsoft’s illicit-consent guidance specifically calls for reviewing audit data to establish users, timeframe, and permissions. Avoid disabling every integrated application as a first response: that blocks consent to all applications and can disrupt ordinary work.

Revoke an AI app from Salesforce
Salesforce offers a user-level procedure for revoking the connected-app tokens associated with your account and an administrator procedure for ending sessions or blocking an app for the entire org.
Individual user: revoke every authorization for the app
- Sign in to Salesforce and open your personal settings.
- Search for Advanced User Details. If that page is not visible, search for Personal Information, as Salesforce describes that alternate path.
- Open OAuth Connected Apps and inspect the complete list.
- Find the AI app. It can appear more than once when separate approvals or scopes created separate entries.
- Select Revoke for each entry belonging to that app and confirm the action.
Salesforce’s connected-app guidance says that revoking the app prevents it from accessing your Salesforce data. Check the entire list rather than stopping after the first matching row, because multiple approvals can represent multiple active tokens.
What Salesforce’s approval limit means
Salesforce states that each user can have five unique connected-app approvals. After a user makes a sixth approval, the oldest approval is revoked. This is an operational limit on approvals per user, not a measure of security risk and not a reason to assume an unwanted app has already been removed. Inspect and revoke the specific app yourself.
Administrator: end sessions or block the connected app
If you administer the Salesforce org, use the broader session controls:
- Open Setup.
- Search for and open Connected Apps OAuth Usage.
- Inspect the app’s usage and the users with active sessions.
- On a user-usage detail, choose Revoke to end that user’s current session.
- Choose Revoke All to end all current sessions for the app.
- Choose Block when the intent is org-wide prevention. Blocking ends all current user sessions and prevents new sessions until the app is unblocked.
The Setup page lists the permissions required to view and manage Connected Apps OAuth Usage. A regular user who cannot open it needs a Salesforce administrator to perform the org-level action.

When to use each Salesforce control
- Revoke in personal settings: use when only your Salesforce account should stop granting the app access.
- Revoke on a user-usage detail: use when an administrator needs to terminate one user’s current session.
- Revoke All: use when all current sessions for the app should end but future authorization is not being blocked.
- Block: use when the organization wants to stop the app for everyone and prevent new sessions until a deliberate unblock.
Salesforce documentation also notes a current product change: creation of connected apps is restricted as of Spring ’26, while existing connected apps can continue to be used. That change affects how administrators create new integrations; it does not replace the revocation steps above.
Remove or authorize an AI app in Slack
Slack separates removing an installed app from revoking a particular third-party authorization. Decide whether the app should disappear from the workspace or remain installed for other people while one member’s authorization is withdrawn.

- In Slack desktop, select the workspace name.
- Choose Tools & settings > Manage apps to open the Slack Marketplace.
- Select Installed apps.
- Find the AI app and open its details.
- Open Settings and choose the removal control.
- Confirm the removal when Slack asks.
Removing the app is a workspace-level change. It is appropriate when the integration itself is no longer approved, but it may affect every member or workflow that depends on that installation.
Revoke one member’s third-party authorization while leaving the app installed
- Open the app’s details from Installed apps and then open Settings.
- Find the Authorizations section.
- Open the list of authorized members.
- Locate the member whose authorization must end and choose the revoke action for that authorization.
- Confirm that the member no longer appears as authorized.
This narrower action leaves the app installed for other authorized members. It is the better fit when one employee connected an AI service to Slack but the workspace still needs the app for approved users.
Slack-built app configurations use a separate flow
Slack-built app configurations have their own disable or remove process rather than the exact same control used for a Marketplace app. If the entry is a custom configuration, open its configuration page and use the disable or remove option presented there. Do not assume that removing a Marketplace installation also disables every custom integration built in the workspace.

If the Remove control is missing
Workspace governance can hide or restrict removal. When app approval is enabled, Slack says that only Workspace Owners and app managers can remove apps. Owners can also restrict who may install or remove applications. Ask the Workspace Owner or an authorized app manager to perform the action, and verify the live workspace’s labels because Slack’s help page may redirect to a localized version and the interface can vary by role.

Microsoft 365 app access is usually administered in Microsoft Entra. The essential distinction is between organization-wide admin consent, a user’s delegated consent, a per-user application assignment, and Teams resource-specific consent.
Revoke organization-wide admin consent in the portal
- Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center with a role that can review and manage enterprise applications.
- Go to Entra ID > Enterprise apps > All applications.
- Select the AI app.
- Open Permissions.
- Use Admin consent to inspect the permissions granted for the organization.
- For a permission that must be removed, open its ellipsis menu and choose Revoke permission.
- Review the remaining permissions and the app’s assignments before closing the record.
Microsoft lists Cloud Application Administrator and Application Administrator among the roles that can review enterprise-application permissions, although the exact permission needed can vary by action. If the command is unavailable, contact the identity administrator rather than trying to work around the role boundary.
The portal does not remove every user-consent grant
The User consent tab in the portal is view-only for this task. Microsoft directs administrators to the documented Microsoft Graph API or PowerShell method to remove delegated grants that an individual user approved. Do not tell users that revoking admin consent automatically removes every personal grant; those are separate records and may require the Graph or PowerShell procedure.
Remove an app assignment from an affected user

- In the Microsoft identity administration experience, go to Identity > Users > All users.
- Select the affected user.
- Open Applications.
- Select the application in question.
- Choose Remove.
This removes the application assignment from that user. It is not a substitute for removing tenant-wide admin consent or delegated grants; use the control that matches the grant you found.
Review evidence in Microsoft Purview
After identifying the app, review Microsoft Purview audit logs to establish which users were affected, the relevant timeframe, and the permissions involved. Preserve the evidence required by your organization’s incident process before changing settings that could erase useful context. If the app accessed sensitive data, involve the security and identity teams and document each revocation scope.
Do not disable all integrated applications as a routine shortcut
Microsoft says that turning off integrated applications can prevent users from granting consent, but it also blocks consent to all applications. Because that broad switch can impair legitimate non-Microsoft apps, treat it as a deliberate containment measure after assessing scope, not as the normal first step for one suspicious AI app.

If the AI app accessed Microsoft Teams content, determine whether it used resource-specific consent (RSC). Microsoft describes RSC permissions as granular and scoped to a particular team or user, so they do not have the same reach as a tenant-wide grant.

- Identify the team or user named in the app’s permission details.
- Open the Teams app permission information and compare it with the app’s permissions in Microsoft Entra.
- If the grant is administrator consent, use the Entra enterprise-application permission controls to revoke it.
- Confirm that any team- or user-specific RSC entry is no longer present or authorized.
Do not infer from a tenant-wide permission review that every Teams-scoped grant has been removed. RSC is a distinct permission surface and must be checked when the app’s data path involves Teams.

Scope, actor, and grant type: a practical decision table

Common mistakes and how to recover
Deleting the AI service account
Account deletion at the AI provider does not alter an OAuth grant stored by Salesforce, Slack, or Microsoft Entra. Sign in to the affected platform and revoke the authorization there. If you cannot access the old account, give the platform administrator the app name, user, and approximate authorization time so they can locate the grant.
Uninstalling an unrelated client
Removing a desktop application, browser extension, or mobile client may stop that local program from running, but it does not prove that server-side tokens, consent records, or app assignments are gone. Complete the platform-specific revocation and then verify the entry or session status.
Removing an app when only one person is affected
Workspace or org-wide removal can interrupt legitimate users. Prefer Salesforce user-level revocation, Slack member-authorization revocation, or Microsoft per-user assignment and delegated-grant removal when the evidence points to one account.

Revoking one permission and leaving another active
Apps can hold multiple entries or permission types. Salesforce can list multiple entries for separate approvals; Microsoft can have both admin consent and user consent; Teams RSC can be separate from tenant permissions. Review the full set that belongs to the app before declaring the access closed.
Assuming a missing button is a technical failure
Role and governance restrictions commonly explain missing controls. Salesforce Connected Apps OAuth Usage requires administrator permissions, Slack removal may be limited to Workspace Owners or app managers, and Microsoft actions require an appropriate identity role. Escalate with the exact app and scope instead of changing unrelated settings.
