To review Facebook-connected apps, open your profile menu and go to Settings & privacy > Settings > Apps and Websites. Select View and Edit beside an app to inspect its permissions. To end that Facebook connection, choose Remove and confirm. Removing the connection controls Facebook-side access; it does not, by itself, prove that the outside service deleted data it already received.
What a Facebook-connected app is—and what removing it does
A third-party app or website can use Facebook Login or another Facebook connection to identify your account and request specific information. Facebook keeps those connections in the Apps and Websites settings area. The listing is the place to investigate an old game, shopping site, quiz, productivity service, or any other service that you previously authorized.
Opening an app’s View and Edit screen lets you see the permissions associated with that connection before you act. Choosing Remove and confirming revokes the connection on Facebook’s side. That prevents the app from continuing to use the Facebook connection described there, but it is not the same as deleting an account with the provider or erasing information that provider may already have stored.
An unfamiliar listing deserves investigation, not an automatic diagnosis that your Facebook account was hacked. Review the app name, permissions, and your own history first. If the activity also looks suspicious, use Facebook’s separate security settings to protect the account.

Find the Apps and Websites settings
- Open Facebook and select your profile picture or profile menu.
- Choose Settings & privacy.
- Choose Settings.
- Open Apps and Websites.
Meta uses this area for apps and games that you added to Facebook. Menu placement can differ between the desktop site, an iPhone or Android app, a tablet, a mobile browser, and Facebook Lite. Look for the same labels rather than assuming that a mobile screen will have identical menus. The documented removal workflow is the reliable sequence once you reach an app’s details page.
Review an app before removing it
Open the app’s details
In Apps and Websites, locate the service you want to investigate and select View and Edit. Do this before selecting a removal command so you can record what the connection was allowed to access and decide whether another account-recovery step is needed.
Read every permission shown
Scroll through the permission list on the app-specific page. The exact items depend on what the service requested and what Facebook displays for that connection. Treat the list as a description of Facebook-side access, not as a complete privacy report for the provider.

Pay particular attention to whether the page includes a permission to publish posts on your behalf. Meta says that if a post permission is not shown, the app cannot publish posts on your behalf. Do not infer a missing permission from the app’s name or from an old memory of how you used it; use the current list displayed for that app.
Decide whether the connection is still needed
- Keep the connection only when you recognize the service, still use it, and accept the permissions shown.
- Remove it when you no longer use the service, do not recognize it after checking, or no longer want Facebook involved in its sign-in or data access.
- Before removing a service that you use to sign in elsewhere, make sure you know another way to access that service. Removing Facebook Login can leave you needing the provider’s own recovery process.
Make a short pre-removal checklist
Before confirming, identify any provider account you still need, note whether Facebook is its only sign-in method, and save information you are entitled to keep through the provider’s own tools. Check whether the service has a password, email login, or support route. This is especially important for services containing purchases, files, subscriptions, or messages. The Facebook settings page controls the connection; it cannot create a replacement credential for the outside account.
Remove one connected app or website
- From the app’s View and Edit page, review the listed permissions.
- Scroll to the controls at the bottom or wherever Facebook places the app action on your interface.
- Select Remove.
- Confirm the removal when Facebook asks you to do so.
This is an app-specific action. It does not delete your Facebook account, remove every other app, or automatically erase the provider’s copy of information. Repeat the process for each connection you want to end; do not assume that removing one service changes any other listing.
Do not confuse a permission description with a removal confirmation. Reading or expanding a permission list does not end access. The connection ends only after you select Remove and complete Facebook’s confirmation step. If you decide to keep the app, leave the page without confirming removal.

What to expect after confirmation
The Facebook connection is revoked
After confirmation, the selected app no longer has the Facebook-side connection represented by that listing. If you return to Apps and Websites, the app should no longer be available as an active connection in the same way. Facebook’s interface may present the result differently across surfaces, so judge success by the confirmation and the state shown in your account rather than by a particular screen design.
For a simple verification, reopen the list after the confirmation and look for the service. If it remains visible in a historical, inactive, or differently labeled area, open its details and check whether an active removal control or permission list remains. Do not authorize it again merely to test the result; signing in through Facebook at the provider can create a new connection.
The provider may still have an account and stored data
Revoking access does not establish that the outside company deleted information it collected before removal. The official removal instructions explain Facebook’s permission control, not the retention policy of every provider. If you want provider-held data deleted, sign in to that service and use its account or privacy controls, or contact the provider directly. Ask specifically about deletion of data obtained through Facebook and keep any confirmation you receive.
A useful request identifies the account email or username, says that Facebook access was removed, and asks what Facebook-sourced information remains and how to delete it. The provider may distinguish between disconnecting Facebook Login, deleting the provider account, and deleting selected records. Follow the provider’s own instructions for whichever result you want; do not treat a Facebook confirmation as proof of any of those provider-side actions.

Your provider login may need repair
If you previously used Log in with Facebook, removing the connection can prevent that sign-in method from working. Use the provider’s password-reset, email-login, or support process before removing access when the account contains information you need. If you have already removed it, contact the provider and explain that Facebook Login was revoked; Facebook cannot restore a provider account’s credentials for you.
Three controls that are easy to confuse
Facebook exposes several privacy and account-connection areas. They operate on different objects and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Review Activity Off-Meta Technologies separately
If your concern is that businesses are sending activity information to Meta, open the Facebook privacy settings area for Activity Off-Meta Technologies. Meta describes this as a way to review the businesses involved, disconnect particular businesses, or clear the information associated with that activity.

That review answers a different question from “Which services can use my Facebook connection?” Removing an app in Apps and Websites addresses the app’s Facebook-side access. Disconnecting or clearing off-Meta activity addresses information businesses send to Meta. You may need to use both controls, depending on whether your concern is login access, previously shared activity, or both.

Conversely, clearing off-Meta activity does not necessarily remove the site’s Facebook Login entry. Treat each setting as a separate review and confirm the action in the area that owns the data or connection you want to change.
When an unfamiliar app appears
Investigate the listing first
- Open View and Edit for the unfamiliar entry.
- Read the service name and every permission shown.
- Consider whether you used an old website, game, contest, or sign-in service that could explain it.
- Remove the connection if you do not want it or cannot establish a legitimate reason to keep it.
The presence of an unfamiliar app alone does not prove that someone took over your Facebook account. It can reflect an authorization you forgot, a service whose name changed, or an old connection you no longer use. Treat it as a prompt to review access. If you also see unrecognized posts, messages, email changes, login alerts, or other account activity, review Facebook’s security settings, change your password, and secure any email account used for recovery.
Do not grant new access while investigating
Use the existing Facebook settings page to inspect the listing. Avoid clicking suspicious links in messages or email that ask you to “verify” the app by signing in again. Go to Facebook directly, then follow the profile-menu path above.
Mobile and desktop troubleshooting
The labels do not match exactly
Meta’s help material covers computer, iPhone, Android, iPad, mobile browser, and Facebook Lite contexts, but the retrieved instructions do not establish a separate current path for each one. Start with the profile picture or menu and look for Settings & privacy, Settings, and Apps and Websites. A menu may be nested under a search field or a privacy section on a particular surface.

- Confirm that you opened Facebook’s account settings, not the settings for your phone or browser.
- Use the settings search field, if your Facebook surface provides one, and search for “Apps and Websites.”
- Check that you are viewing the intended Facebook profile when multiple profiles or accounts are available.
- Try the Facebook website in a current browser if the app’s menu omits the setting, then start again at the profile menu.
There is no Remove button where expected
Open View and Edit rather than acting from a general list. The documented sequence places the removal action on the app’s permission page. If the page still does not show the control, check for a scrollable permission panel, expand the full details, and verify that the page finished loading. Do not assume that an edit control exists for every individual permission; the documented workflow establishes removal, not a universal way to toggle permissions one by one.
The app still asks for Facebook after removal
Removing the Facebook-side connection does not delete the provider’s application or prevent it from offering Facebook Login again. If you revisit the service and authorize it again, a new connection may be created. To stop using Facebook with that service, choose another sign-in method and avoid approving a new authorization request.

You removed the wrong service
Contact the provider if its account is now inaccessible. Explain that the Facebook connection was removed and request an alternate login or account-recovery route. Facebook’s removal control cannot change the provider’s password, email address, subscription, or stored records.
Why deleting Facebook is the wrong fix for one app
Do not delete your Facebook account merely to remove a single third-party connection. Meta warns that account deletion can also end Facebook Login access to other apps and websites. You may then need to contact each service to recover those accounts. For a single unwanted connection, use the app-specific Remove control instead; reserve account deletion for a separate decision about leaving Facebook altogether.

- Review Apps and Websites whenever you stop using a service that was connected through Facebook.
- Open View and Edit before removing an app so you know which permissions and sign-in dependency you are ending.
- Keep a non-Facebook recovery method for any provider account you need to retain.
- Use Activity Off-Meta Technologies when your concern is business activity data sent to Meta rather than Facebook Login access.
- Use Accounts Center only for connected Meta-account experiences, not as a substitute for the third-party-app list.
- Request deletion from the outside provider when your goal includes erasing data it may already hold.
A practical decision guide
Remove immediately
Remove the connection when you do not recognize the service, no longer need it, or reject the permissions shown. Confirm the action, then handle provider-side deletion separately if required.
Investigate before removing
Pause when the service contains an account, files, purchases, or records you still need and Facebook is your only sign-in method. Find or create another login route first, then return to Apps and Websites and remove the connection.
Use a different privacy control
Choose Activity Off-Meta Technologies for business activity sent to Meta, or Accounts Center for linked Meta accounts. Neither replaces the app-specific removal path.
What this process cannot tell you
The Facebook settings page can show the connection and provide a removal action. It cannot, from the information established here, tell you how long every provider retains previously received data, whether the provider created a separate account record, or whether a provider has deleted that record. Those questions belong to the service’s privacy policy, account controls, or support team. State your request clearly if you contact the provider: ask what Facebook-sourced data remains, how it is used, and how to delete it.

Does removing an app delete my Facebook account?
No. The Remove action is for the selected app or website connection. It does not delete Facebook or the other connections listed in Apps and Websites.

Will removing a connection erase the app’s copy of my data?
Not necessarily. The Facebook-side permission is revoked, but the available instructions do not establish what the provider retains. Use that provider’s deletion controls or contact it directly.

What happens if Facebook was my only way to sign in?
Removing the connection can stop Facebook Login from working for that provider. Set up the provider’s password, email login, or support-based recovery route first when possible.
Does removing an app stop it from sending activity to Meta?
Not necessarily. App-connection removal and Activity Off-Meta Technologies address different controls. Review the latter separately if your concern is activity businesses sent to Meta.
