There is no verified click-by-click method in Meta’s published material for reviewing or changing Muse Wonder’s Active Memory or Active Focus. Meta describes what the capabilities do, but the official announcement and developer documentation reviewed here do not identify a settings screen, memory list, edit or delete control, disable switch, or adjustment workflow. Controls may exist in a newer product build, but their location and behavior are not established by those documents.
This article therefore separates documented product behavior from assumptions about configuration. It explains what Meta announced on October 12, 2026, what remains unanswered, how Active Memory differs from Active Focus, and how to examine the exact Muse surface you use without treating an unrelated permission or activity control as a memory setting.
What Meta has actually documented
Meta announced Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full on October 12, 2026. The announcement presents Active Memory and Active Focus as model capabilities rather than as user-configurable preferences. Meta’s developer material also discusses access and longer-running workflows, but does not provide a procedure for inspecting or changing either capability.
That distinction matters. A feature description tells you how Meta says the model behaves. A settings guide would need to identify the product surface, menu labels, controls, confirmation behavior, and what happens after a change. Those operational details are not supplied for Active Memory or Active Focus in the official material reviewed.

In practical terms, the published descriptions establish the intended function, not a user interface contract. They do not say that every user receives the same controls, that the capabilities are exposed in the same way across products, or that a model-level behavior can be changed by an account preference. A precise article cannot turn those missing details into a menu path.
What Active Memory means
Active Memory is Meta’s term for carrying important context about a person between conversations and retrieving details that are relevant to the task currently being performed. It is broader than simply keeping messages visible in one chat: Meta describes continuity across conversations and selective retrieval of details when they matter.
Meta’s October 12 announcement says: “That’s why we’ve built our new models to have Active Memory, the ability to carry what matters to you across conversations and bring back the details that are relevant to the task at hand.” This is a company description of intended capability, not a statement that users can browse a memory database or edit individual entries.
The wording also leaves several implementation questions open. It does not identify what counts as “what matters,” how long a detail is retained, whether a person can see the retained detail, or whether information is stored as a discrete record, inferred from prior conversations, or handled through another mechanism. It does not explain whether a memory can be corrected, whether deletion is immediate, or whether removing a detail affects old conversation transcripts.
Accordingly, do not use “memory” as shorthand for every form of data handling. Conversation history, account personalization, connected-service data, and a model’s remembered context could be separate systems. Meta’s announcement does not establish that changing one automatically changes the others.
What Active Focus means
Active Focus describes how the model is intended to pursue a difficult objective over time. Meta says it can continue working toward a goal when a task becomes difficult, try different approaches, recover from errors, ask for clarification when needed, and check in before following through on an important action.
The announcement describes it this way: “They’re also equipped with Active Focus, the ability to keep working toward your goal when a task gets hard, try other approaches, recover from errors, and follow through, asking for clarification when needed and checking in before following through on anything important.” Nothing in that description establishes a user-adjustable intensity level, persistence setting, or on/off switch.
Recommended Free Tools
Active Focus should therefore be read as a description of task behavior. It does not automatically mean that a user can select a number of retries, set a persistence duration, or make the model operate autonomously. A task timeout, approval requirement, or workflow limit might constrain what happens in a particular product, but the published description does not identify any of those as an Active Focus control.
Active Memory and Active Focus compared
| Capability | Purpose | Behavior Meta describes | Documented user control |
|---|---|---|---|
| Active Memory | Maintain useful personal context across conversations | Carry important information forward and retrieve details relevant to the current task | Not stated in reviewed official material (Meta, 2026) |
| Active Focus | Continue pursuing a challenging objective | Try alternate approaches, recover from errors, request clarification, and check in before important actions | Not stated in reviewed official material (Meta, 2026) |
The concepts therefore answer different questions. Active Memory concerns which context can carry across conversations; Active Focus concerns how the model continues working when a task encounters difficulty. Neither description is evidence of a settings page.

They may also appear in different parts of a product if Meta later exposes controls. A memory-related option would logically need to explain retained context and its scope. A focus-related option would need to explain task continuation, retries, clarification, or approvals. Until Meta labels such controls and describes their effects, users should not assume that a single “AI behavior” switch manages both capabilities.
What you can and cannot verify from the published documentation
The official material reviewed leaves four practical questions unanswered:
- Reviewing memory: It does not show a screen that lists remembered details or explains how to inspect what the model retained.
- Editing or deleting memory: It does not document an edit command, delete action, per-item controls, or a process for clearing remembered information.
- Disabling Active Memory: It does not confirm an on/off control or identify where such a control would be located.
- Changing Active Focus: It does not describe a user-facing setting for adjusting persistence, retry behavior, clarification requests, or check-ins.
These are documentation limits, not proof that controls can never exist. Meta could add controls to a product interface, publish separate help documentation, or expose different options in a particular subscription or developer surface. Until an official interface or help page identifies the control, any precise menu path would be guesswork.
The absence of a documented control also means that a failed search is not proof of a permanent product limitation. A feature may be in staged rollout, limited to a particular account, available only in a newer client, or described under another label. Conversely, a label such as “personalization” may affect a different system. The safe conclusion is limited: no verified procedure is established by the cited launch and developer descriptions.
Do not confuse Muse permissions with memory management
Meta’s separate Muse product information discusses permission controls, review and approval of agent actions, activity review, and connection permissions. Those features govern what an agent may do, which services it can connect to, and how actions are reviewed.
They are not documented as a view of Muse Wonder’s Active Memory records, and they are not documented as configuration for Active Focus. Approving an action, reviewing activity, or disconnecting a service should not be represented as deleting remembered personal context or changing how the model persists through a difficult task.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
This distinction is especially important when a product uses similar words in several places. “Activity” may refer to a log of actions. “Connections” may refer to authorization for an external service. “Permissions” may determine whether an agent can take an action. None of those labels, by themselves, establish that saved context has been reviewed or removed. Look for wording that explicitly states the data or behavior affected.
Access routes and timing
Meta’s October 12, 2026 announcement said Muse Wonder was available through the Meta Model API and Muse Code, with plans for it to power additional Muse experiences later. The announcement said the rollout would begin with subscribers. Meta’s developer material lists Muse Wonder Full as a Muse Code subscription offering.
Availability and product labels can change quickly after a launch. The access route you use matters because a developer API, a coding-agent subscription, and a later consumer-facing Muse experience may expose different controls. Access to the model through an API or coding agent is not evidence that an end user can inspect or modify Active Memory or Active Focus.

For an API user, a model capability may be selected by the service while account-level controls remain elsewhere, if they exist at all. For a Muse Code subscriber, the visible interface may differ from a future Muse experience. Do not generalize a control found in one surface to every route, and record the date because availability statements can change as products roll out.

If you have legitimate access to a current Muse Wonder surface, you can investigate without assuming that an undocumented control exists. The following checklist is an evidence-gathering method, not a claimed Meta menu path:
- Identify the product surface. Record whether you are using Meta Model API, Muse Code, or another Muse experience, along with the account or subscription type and the date you checked.
- Read the product’s current help and settings labels. Look specifically for terms such as memory, personalization, saved context, conversation history, focus, autonomy, task continuation, or data controls. Do not treat a generic permissions page as a memory page.
- Look for an explicit record view. A real memory-management feature should identify what is stored or remembered and provide an understandable way to inspect it. A statement that the model has Active Memory is not an itemized record view.
- Look for explicit actions. Editing, deleting, clearing, pausing, or disabling should be labeled as such and should explain scope. Do not infer that deleting a conversation, disconnecting a service, or revoking an agent action permission changes cross-conversation memory.
- Check confirmation and effect. If a control exists, read whether it applies to one item, one conversation, an account, or future conversations. Note whether the interface promises immediate deletion, delayed deletion, or only a pause in future use.
- Test only with non-sensitive information. Until the product explains retention and deletion behavior, avoid using private or regulated information as a test case. A successful response does not by itself prove what is stored or where.
- Capture the exact label and version. Save the visible wording, product surface, and date. This prevents a setting seen in one Muse experience from being incorrectly presented as universal to all Muse Wonder access routes.
- Separate observation from interpretation. Write down what the interface actually says before deciding what it means. “Conversation history” is an observation; “this deletes Active Memory” is an interpretation that requires explicit product wording.
- Check whether the control is account-wide. A setting shown inside one project, workspace, or coding session may apply only there. Look for language covering the account, all conversations, future tasks, or connected experiences.
If your build has no clearly labeled control, the accurate conclusion is that the control is not exposed or not documented for that surface. It is not safe to claim that a hidden keyboard command, a conversation reset, or a permission toggle will change Active Memory or Active Focus.
How to interpret a memory control if Meta adds one
A documented memory control should answer several separate questions before you use it:
- What is covered? Does it affect one remembered detail, all saved context, a single conversation, or the entire account?
- When does it take effect? Does the change apply immediately, only to new conversations, or after a stated processing period?
- What remains visible? A deleted memory record and an old conversation transcript are different data objects unless Meta says otherwise.
- Can the model still infer the detail? Removing a saved item may not remove the original conversation or information supplied again later.
- Is the control available everywhere? A setting in Muse Code may not govern an API integration or a later Muse experience.
- What confirmation is provided? Look for a success message, an updated list, or wording that identifies the completed scope. Do not treat a button press without a stated effect as proof of deletion.
- Are there exceptions? The product should explain whether backups, logs, legal retention, or connected services are treated separately. Do not assume that a visible memory action governs every copy of related information.
Do not describe a control as “deleting everything” unless Meta’s wording explicitly defines that scope.

Active Focus is described as behavior during a task, so a future control might appear under task execution, autonomy, agent behavior, or confirmation settings rather than under memory. Verify what the control changes before treating it as an Active Focus switch.
For example, a setting that requires approval before an external action could affect when the model checks in, but Meta’s published description does not say that approval settings configure Active Focus itself. Likewise, a retry limit or task timeout could constrain a workflow without changing the underlying model capability. Only the product’s own explanation can establish that relationship.
Ask whether a control changes the model’s willingness to continue, the number of attempts permitted by the workflow, the point at which a user must approve an action, or merely the display of progress. Those are different effects. A shorter task timeout may stop a run; it does not necessarily disable the capability Meta calls Active Focus.
Common assumptions that are not supported
- There is no documented basis for saying that Active Memory can be opened as a list of personal facts.
- There is no documented basis for saying that deleting a chat deletes Active Memory.
- There is no documented basis for saying that disabling personalization disables Active Memory.
- There is no documented basis for saying that action approvals or connection permissions disable Active Focus.
- There is no documented basis for assigning a numeric “focus” level, retry count, or persistence duration to Active Focus.
- There is no documented basis for claiming that the same control applies across Meta Model API, Muse Code, and every future Muse experience.
- There is no documented basis for treating a successful answer as proof that a particular memory was stored, deleted, or never retained.
- There is no documented basis for using a general Muse activity log as a complete inventory of Active Memory.
Privacy and testing cautions
Until Meta documents the scope and retention behavior of a control, use ordinary, non-sensitive examples when testing. Do not deliberately submit medical, financial, employment, authentication, or confidential business information merely to see whether a future conversation recalls it. A recall test can demonstrate behavior without explaining the underlying storage, retention period, or deletion process.

Keep a dated record of the product surface, account type, visible version, exact label, and result. This is useful if you need to ask support a precise question and prevents a temporary rollout from being described as a universal feature. If a control claims to delete or pause something, read its confirmation text and any linked explanation rather than relying on the button label alone.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to do when you need a definitive answer
Use the current official help material for the exact Muse surface you use and ask Meta for the control’s scope if the documentation is unclear. Include the product surface, account or subscription tier, visible version information, operating system or client, and the exact setting label you found. Ask separately whether the control affects remembered context, conversation history, connected-service permissions, task approvals, or model behavior.
Useful questions are specific: Can I view individual remembered details? Does deletion apply to one item or all saved context? Does it affect past transcripts? Does disabling a feature stop future retrieval, erase existing data, or both? Is the option available in Muse Code, Meta Model API, and other Muse experiences? For Active Focus, ask whether the control changes task continuation, retries, clarification requests, approval checkpoints, or only a workflow limit.
This separation is important because the words “memory,” “activity,” “permissions,” and “focus” can describe different systems. A precise answer should identify the data or behavior affected, the effective date, and whether the change applies retroactively.

Can I currently open a list of Muse Wonder memories?
Meta’s October 12, 2026 announcement and the corresponding developer descriptions do not show an itemized memory list or explain how to inspect remembered details. A current product build could expose one, but its existence and location are not verified by those published materials.
Does deleting a conversation erase Active Memory?
That relationship is not documented. A conversation transcript and remembered context may be separate data objects, so do not claim that deleting one deletes the other unless Meta’s interface or help documentation explicitly says so.
Is there an Active Memory on/off switch?
No reviewed official source confirms an on/off control or names its location. If you see a setting with a related label, check its stated scope before treating it as Active Memory.
Can I set how persistent Active Focus is?
Meta describes Active Focus as continuing through difficult tasks, trying alternatives, recovering from errors, asking for clarification, and checking in before important actions. The published description does not document a persistence level, retry count, duration, or user-adjustable intensity.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Do Muse action approvals change Active Focus?
They are not documented as the same feature. Action approvals govern whether an agent may proceed with an action; Meta’s description of Active Focus concerns how the model pursues a challenging goal. A product explanation would be needed to establish any direct connection.

Are API and Muse Code settings the same?
That cannot be assumed. Meta announced access through the Meta Model API and Muse Code, and later Muse experiences may differ. A control documented for one surface may not govern another.
What should I record when I find a possible control?
Record the exact label, product surface, account or subscription type, visible version, date, confirmation text, and stated scope. Note whether it affects one item, a conversation, an account, future use, or another category of data or behavior.
Where should I look for a definitive procedure?
Check the current official help and settings documentation for the exact Muse surface you use. If the wording remains unclear, ask Meta to distinguish remembered context, conversation history, connected-service permissions, task approvals, and model behavior.
Bottom line
Meta defines Active Memory as carrying relevant context across conversations and Active Focus as continuing, adapting, and checking in while pursuing a difficult task. As of the official material associated with the October 12, 2026 announcement and the corresponding developer descriptions, Meta has not published verified steps to review, edit, delete, disable, or configure either capability. Treat any exact settings path as unverified until Meta documents it in the live product or an official help page.
