Start by checking the country on your Nike order and the delivery date. In the United States, most Nike online orders can be returned or exchanged within 60 days of delivery. Canada generally allows 30 days from online delivery, while Nike’s UK/EU guidance uses a 30-day period with separate statutory and contractual rights. The available route, shipping cost, store eligibility, condition rules and exchange process all depend on that market.
This guide explains the U.S. process first, then the Canada and UK/EU differences. Nike can change item-specific exclusions, so open the applicable Nike Help return page and check the order’s terms before sending anything.
What to do first
- Identify the market. Use the Nike website or app where you placed the order. Do not apply the U.S. 60-day rule to a Canadian or UK/EU order.
- Find the delivery date. The U.S. and Canada periods for online purchases run from delivery, not simply from the date you placed the order. UK/EU rules have their own statutory and contractual structure.
- Gather proof of purchase. Keep the order number, order barcode, receipt or order email, payment method and the shoe box and accessories.
- Check exclusions and condition requirements. Item-specific terms can override the ordinary return route.
- Choose return, exchange or a defect inspection. A standard return is different from a suspected manufacturing flaw after the ordinary deadline.
If you bought the shoes from another retailer, send them back to that retailer rather than to Nike.
United States: returning or exchanging an online Nike order
U.S. deadline and basic eligibility
Nike’s U.S. policy says most items can be returned or exchanged within 60 days of an online order delivery or a Nike store purchase. Nike requires proof of purchase. The 60-day period is a policy period stated by Nike, not a guarantee that every product qualifies.

The U.S. sources identify several exclusions or special cases:
- Purchases from a Nike Clearance Store cannot be returned or exchanged through the ordinary Nike route.
- Gift cards, SNKRS Reserve orders and items marked nonreturnable are listed as store-return exceptions.
- Custom Jersey By You soccer jerseys are identified as an exception.
- Nike x LEGO sets must be sealed and unopened to qualify for return.
- Items bought from another retailer must be returned to that retailer.
Check the live item and store terms for the complete exception list before shipping or visiting a store. The U.S. policy material does not state a blanket requirement that ordinary shoes be unworn, so do not import Canada or UK condition wording into a U.S. return unless the item’s own terms require it.
Option 1: start a U.S. return online as a Member
Members generally have the most convenient mailed-return and exchange flow.

- Open Order History.
- Select the order containing the shoes.
- Select the item, then choose Start a Return or Exchange.
- Follow the prompts to choose a return or an eligible replacement option.
- Use the UPS return QR code or print the prepaid label supplied by Nike, if that option is offered for the order.
- Box the shoes and any included components. Reuse a clean, suitably protective box if you have one; Nike instructs customers to box shipped items but does not say that a newly purchased box is required.
- Take the parcel to UPS within 21 days of starting the return or exchange. A QR-code drop-off must be made at The UPS Store. A printed label may be dropped at an eligible UPS location.
Nike inspects mailed items after receipt and then processes the refund or ships an exchange when the request is eligible. The desired size or color may not be available, so an exchange request does not guarantee replacement stock or a particular delivery date.
Option 2: return a U.S. online order as a guest
Guests can start a return online, but Nike’s U.S. instructions say the guest must print a label, choose a carrier, and pay the shipping cost. If you want an exchange rather than a refund, contact Nike for assistance instead of assuming the Member exchange controls will appear in the guest flow.

- Open Nike’s online return flow and locate the guest order using the information requested on the page.
- Select the shoes and begin the return.
- Print the shipping label provided by the return flow.
- Pack the shoes securely and hand the parcel to the carrier specified by the instructions.
- Keep the drop-off receipt and tracking information until the return is resolved.
Option 3: take the online order to a U.S. Nike store
Nike says U.S. Members and guests can return eligible online orders at eligible Nike stores. Bring all three of the following:
- The shoes and any relevant packaging or components.
- The original form of payment.
- The order barcode or order number.
The store page lists Nike Clearance Stores as unable to accept these returns. It also names gift cards, SNKRS Reserve orders and items marked nonreturnable among the exceptions. Check the store’s current eligibility and hours before travelling; an online order being within 60 days does not make every Nike location an authorized return location.
U.S. exchanges versus refunds
For a Member, the online return/exchange flow may show eligible replacement choices. Nike’s U.S. instructions also describe store exchange as an option for most eligible online orders. A shipped item is inspected after Nike receives it; Nike then issues the refund or sends the exchange if approved.
Guests should contact Nike for exchange help. Neither the cited policy nor the return instructions promise that a desired replacement size, color or delivery date will be available. If you need a different product immediately, a refund followed by a new order may be more predictable, but it creates a separate purchase and is not required by the return process.
U.S. refund timing and tracking
Nike’s U.S. return page directs customers to a separate refund-information page. The material available here does not establish a reliable universal number of days for the money to reach your account. Use the order’s return status and Nike’s refund-information page rather than relying on an assumed timeline. Keep your shipping receipt, tracking number and any store confirmation until the status shows the return has been processed.

U.S. shoes that may be defective
Within the ordinary 60-day period
For an eligible Nike.com or Nike App shoe purchased in the United States, Nike says you may return it for a refund or exchange within 60 days. Use the standard return route and describe the problem accurately.

After 60 days: inspection for potentially flawed footwear
After the ordinary period, Nike may inspect potentially flawed footwear when the shoe is within two years of the manufacture date shown on its product tag. This is an inspection process, not an automatic refund or exchange.
Be ready to provide:
- Where and when you bought the shoes.
- The manufacture date from the product tag.
- The nine-digit style code.
- The amount shown on the receipt.
- Your mailing or shipping address.
If Nike approves the claim, its U.S. shoe-warranty guidance says it emails a Nike gift card and recycles the flawed item. The inspection route excludes normal wear and tear, misuse, excessive dirt, alterations, and purchases from unauthorized retailers or resellers. Clean and document the shoes, retain the receipt and contact Nike before sending a post-window claim so you receive the correct instructions.
Canada: the process is different
Canadian deadline and condition rules
Nike Canada says online orders can generally be returned within 30 days from online delivery. Eligible shoes must be in original condition: unworn and unwashed, with accessories, original packaging and tags intact. These condition requirements are expressly stated for Canada and should not be treated as a universal Nike rule.
How Canadian exchanges work
Nike Canada says the best approach for an exchange is to return the original item and place a new order. That means the first transaction follows the Canadian return process, while the replacement is a separate purchase. Replacement size or color stock can change between the two transactions.

Can you take a Canadian online order to a store?
Nike Canada says Nike online orders cannot be returned at a Nike store. Do not use the U.S. store-return instructions for a Canadian order; follow the Canadian online return directions instead.
UK and EU: 30 days, with a statutory withdrawal period
UK/EU deadline
Nike’s UK/EU policy describes a 30-day period for most eligible items. The UK explanation separates a statutory 14-day withdrawal right from a further contractual 16-day period, subject to the policy’s conditions. Treat the 30 days as a market-specific Nike policy period and review the exact terms for the country where the order was placed.
UK Member exchange
UK Members can begin an eligible exchange from order history. After submitting the exchange, Nike’s UK exchange guidance says it must receive the original item within 17 days. Start early enough to allow for packing and carrier transit; submitting the request on day 17 does not leave time for Nike to receive it.
UK guest exchange
Guests should contact Nike for exchange assistance rather than expecting the Member order-history controls. UK policy also requires returned items to be unworn and unwashed, with product tags attached. Follow the instructions shown for the specific order and country.

How to pack and document the return
- Keep the shoe box presentable. Put the shoes and their original box inside a shipping carton rather than using the shoe box as the only protective outer package.
- Include the components. Add laces, inserts, tags, accessories and paperwork that arrived with the order, especially for Canada or the UK.
- Use the correct label. Do not attach a label from a different order. For a U.S. Member QR return, use The UPS Store; for a printed label, use an eligible UPS location.
- Photograph the parcel. A quick photo of the packed contents and label can help you identify what was sent if a dispute arises.
- Save proof of handoff. Keep the carrier receipt, tracking number and confirmation email until Nike confirms the outcome.
Common problems and the right response
The return option is missing
Confirm that you are signed into the account used for the purchase, that the order is within the market’s deadline, and that the item is not marked nonreturnable. A clearance-store purchase, SNKRS Reserve order, gift card or other listed exception may not show the ordinary option. If the order is a guest purchase, use the guest lookup or contact Nike as instructed.

You missed the standard deadline
Do not relabel an ordinary return as a defect claim. If the shoes may have a manufacturing flaw, use the separate U.S. inspection route and gather the manufacture date, nine-digit style code, purchase details and receipt amount. The post-window process has exclusions and is not available for normal wear, misuse, excessive dirt, alterations or unauthorized-retailer purchases.
You need a different size but stock is uncertain
Direct exchange availability is not guaranteed. In the United States, a Member can see whether a replacement is offered in the return flow; in Canada, Nike recommends returning the original and placing a new order. A new order may sell out or have a different price, so check the transaction details before submitting the return.
You are being asked to pay shipping
That can be normal for a U.S. guest return: Nike’s instructions say guests print a label, choose a carrier and cover shipping. A signed-in Member may instead receive a UPS QR code or prepaid label. Confirm that you are using the correct account and order before assuming a charge is an error.

The store refuses the return
Verify that the location is an eligible Nike store, not a Nike Clearance Store, and that you brought the original payment method plus the order barcode or number. In Canada, online orders are not accepted at Nike stores, so use the Canadian online process. Store staff cannot override an item-specific nonreturnable designation merely because the order is recent.
Before you submit: a market-specific checklist
- Country or market confirmed.
- Delivery date checked against the applicable deadline.
- Order number, barcode or receipt available.
- Payment method available if using a U.S. store.
- Item-specific exclusions reviewed.
- Condition requirements met for Canada or the UK/EU.
- Correct return or exchange route selected.
- Shipping label, QR code or carrier instructions saved.
- Tracking and drop-off receipt retained.

Use Nike Help for the market where the order was placed. The relevant U.S. pages are titled How Do I Return My Nike Order?, What Is Nike’s Return Policy?, How Do I Return My Online Order to a Nike Store? and Do Nike Shoes Have a Warranty? Canada’s page is titled What is Nike’s returns policy? The UK pages are titled Can I exchange my Nike order? and What is Nike’s returns policy? Read the live page immediately before shipping because Nike can update deadlines, exclusions, participating stores and item-specific requirements.
