Start by checking the date of your Samsung Cloud or Smart Switch backup. Deleted call history can be restored only if a suitable backup made before deletion contains the logs; Samsung’s support guidance does not establish a guaranteed way to retrieve them without one. If the calls are simply missing from the Phone app, check the app and its permissions before assuming the history was deleted.
Check whether a backup predates the deletion
Identify the date of any available backup before restoring anything. A backup created before the call history disappeared may contain the entries; a backup made afterward is not a way to recreate calls already deleted. Check which data categories the backup includes, since the presence of a backup alone does not confirm it contains call history.
Samsung documents call history in Samsung Cloud and call logs in Smart Switch backups, but availability can depend on country, carrier, model, and software version. The exact menus and restore choices may differ across Galaxy devices.
Restore call history from Samsung Cloud
On your Galaxy, open the Accounts and backup or Samsung Cloud settings and inspect the available backup and its included data. Samsung’s Singapore guidance lists “Phone: call and message history” among the data that can be backed up and restored, while noting that support can vary by country and carrier. - Open the Samsung Cloud backup or restore controls on the device.
- Check the backup date and confirm that call history is among the available data categories.
- If the backup predates deletion and includes call history, follow the device’s restore flow and review the selected categories before proceeding.
Use the restore options actually offered on your device; Samsung does not document one identical set of steps for every region and model.
Check Smart Switch backups
Smart Switch can back up or transfer call logs. A backup on a computer or external storage may be useful if it predates deletion. Samsung’s PC instructions describe connecting a phone to a computer with a USB cable, and its US guidance says to select the “Call logs and contacts” category when choosing what to back up or restore. - Open Smart Switch on the computer or device where the backup is stored.
- Connect the Galaxy phone to the computer with a USB data cable, if using the computer workflow.
- Inspect the available backup and its date, then check whether call logs are included.
- If it is a suitable backup, use Smart Switch’s restore flow and select the relevant category if offered.
Transfer support is not universal: Samsung says supported items can vary with the connected devices, and one guide notes a call-log limitation when moving between higher and lower Android OS versions. Check compatibility for the source and destination devices before relying on a transfer. See Samsung’s Smart Switch transfer and backup guidance. For a computer connection, use a cable that supports data transfer and fits both devices’ ports; the cable itself does not recover deleted logs.
If call history is missing, check the Phone app first
If the calls may not have been deleted, try Samsung’s basic troubleshooting steps before restoring data:

- Restart the phone.
- Open Settings > Apps > Phone > Permissions and verify that Call Logs permission is allowed.
- Open the Phone app’s storage settings and clear its cache.
- Install available phone software and Phone app updates.
Menu names may differ by software version. These checks can help with an app or visibility problem; they do not guarantee recovery of call history that was deleted. Samsung also lists backup restoration as an option when an appropriate backup exists. See Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance.
Samsung Trash is not a documented call-log recovery location
Samsung’s Recycle Bin guidance covers files deleted in apps such as My Files, Gallery, and Voice Recorder. Its Samsung Messages guidance concerns deleted messages. Neither source lists call history as recoverable from those Trash locations, so check a Samsung Cloud or Smart Switch backup for call logs instead. Choose the backup path that matches your situation

What to expect if there is no suitable backup
The Samsung support material cited here does not establish a general method or third-party tool that can reliably recover deleted call logs without a backup. Avoid treating a factory reset as a recovery shortcut: Samsung mentions reset only as a last resort for persistent missing-log problems, and resetting does not establish that deleted history can be restored. If the call record is needed for a specific purpose, you can also ask your carrier whether it provides relevant account records; carrier records are separate from restoring the Phone app’s call history.
