If your boAt Airdopes Plus earbuds will not connect, do not use a generic reset sequence. “Airdopes Plus” covers several models, and boAt uses different reset controls for each one. First find the model number printed on the earbuds, charging case, or original packaging. Then forget that model in your phone or computer’s Bluetooth settings and follow the matching procedure below.
Before you reset: identify the exact Airdopes Plus model
The model name determines where the reset control is and whether the earbuds must be inside or outside the case. The documented procedures for Airdopes Plus 214 and 318 are not interchangeable: the 214 resets with a button on the charging case, while the 318 resets through touch controls on both earbuds.
Look for a model number such as Airdopes 214 or Airdopes 318 on the case, earbud labeling, packaging, or the name previously shown in Bluetooth settings. Do not apply the 214 instructions to a 318, or the 318 instructions to an unidentified pair. Other Plus models, including 221, 222, and 311, have their own documented variations.

- Read the model marking on the case or earbuds before touching a reset control.
- If the marking is unclear, check the original box or the old Bluetooth name. A listing such as Airdopes 214 is useful identification, but do not assume every pair in the Plus family follows that model’s steps.
- Match the model to the procedure below. The important differences are the control location, whether the earbuds are in the case, the lid position, the hold time, and the LED confirmation.
- If your model is not listed, use boAt’s support instructions for that exact model rather than guessing from a similar-looking pair.
This check prevents the most common mistake: holding the case button on a touch-reset model, or touching the earbuds on a case-button model, and then assuming the reset failed.

Prepare the phone or computer for a clean pairing
- Open the device’s Bluetooth settings.
- Find the saved entry matching your earbuds, such as Airdopes 214 or Airdopes 318.
- Select the option to forget, unpair, or remove that device from the pairing history. boAt’s model instructions place this step before the reset.
- Turn Bluetooth back on if it was disabled, but do not select an old saved entry during the reset.
For a reliable pairing attempt afterward, keep the earbuds and the phone or computer within 10 metres and remove obstructions between them. The earbuds also need to be in pairing mode. If an earbud’s LED does not blink when the model instructions call for it, the Airdopes 318 guidance says to try powering that earbud on manually before continuing.
Use one host device for the first retry. If several phones, tablets, or computers have previously used the earbuds, forgetting the entry on the device you are testing makes the result easier to interpret. The key requirement is that the matching old Bluetooth record is removed before the model-specific reset.
Reset Airdopes Plus 214
The 214 procedure uses the reset button on the charging case. Both earbuds are placed in the case while the lid remains open.

- Remove both earbuds from the charging case.
- Put both earbuds back into the case in the correct orientation. Leave the lid open.
- Press and hold the case reset button for 10 seconds.
- Confirm the reset: the case LED should flash rapidly five times.
- Close the case lid and wait five seconds.
- Take both earbuds out of the case and start a fresh Bluetooth connection attempt. Select the matching Airdopes name when it appears.
If the device asks for a passcode during this 214 pairing attempt, boAt’s 214 instructions specify 0000. Treat that as a 214-specific fallback, not a universal code for every Airdopes Plus model.
The order matters. The earbuds are removed first so they can be reseated correctly, but the button is pressed with both earbuds inside and the lid open. Closing the lid before the 10-second hold changes the setup, and moving directly to Bluetooth pairing without the five-flash confirmation leaves the reset unverified.
Reset Airdopes Plus 318
The 318 procedure is different: the earbuds must be outside the case, and the reset is started from the CTC (touch-control) area on both earbuds.
- Forget Airdopes 318 from the phone or computer’s Bluetooth pairing history.
- Take both earbuds out of the charging case.
- Long-touch the CTC on both earbuds at the same time for five seconds.
- Confirm the reset: the red LEDs should flash rapidly five times.
- Return both earbuds to the case in the correct orientation.
- Close the case lid and wait five seconds.
- Remove the earbuds and make a new Bluetooth connection attempt.
If one 318 earbud does not show the expected LED activity, try manually powering that earbud on before repeating the touch-control procedure. The reset confirmation is the rapid five-flash sequence; without it, the reset may not have registered.

Both earbuds are part of this reset. Touching only the earbud that seems faulty does not follow the documented 318 sequence. Keep the earbuds out of the case for the five-second touch, then put them back in only after the red five-flash indication appears.
How the documented reset methods differ
| Model | Reset control | Earbud position during reset | Confirmation | After the reset |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Airdopes Plus 214 | Case reset button held for 10 seconds | Both earbuds inside the case; lid open | Case LED rapidly flashes five times | Close lid for five seconds, remove earbuds, pair again |
| Airdopes Plus 318 | Long-touch the CTC on both earbuds for five seconds | Both earbuds outside the case | Red LEDs rapidly flash five times | Return earbuds to case, close lid for five seconds, remove and pair again |
| Airdopes Plus 222 | Case reset button | Earbuds inside the case; lid open | Case and earbuds indicate reset with rapid LED flashes, according to boAt | Close and reopen the lid, then try pairing |
| Airdopes Plus 311 | Touch-control reset | Earbuds are taken out before the reset | Follow the model’s LED confirmation | Return earbuds to the case, close the lid for five seconds, then pair again |
| Airdopes Plus 221 | Case-button reset | Follow the 221-specific case and earbud placement | Follow the model’s LED confirmation | boAt also points to Smart Diagnostics in the boAt Hearables app for connectivity issues |
The 222, 311, and 221 examples show why the model number matters. Their controls and sequences resemble one another in places, but that does not make one model’s timing or button sequence safe to copy to another.
Pair the earbuds again after a successful reset
- Complete the model-specific reset and wait the required five seconds with the case closed where instructed.
- Take both earbuds out of the case.
- On the phone or computer, open the available Bluetooth devices list.
- Wait for the matching model name to appear, then select it. For example, choose Airdopes 214 only for the 214 model.
- Accept the pairing request. For the 214 only, enter
0000if the device requests a passcode. - Play audio or check the device’s connected status to confirm that the fresh pairing completed.
Do not reconnect by tapping an obsolete saved record if the old entry remains visible. If it is still listed, remove it and scan again so the device creates a new pairing record.
If the model name does not appear immediately, leave the earbuds out of the case while the Bluetooth list refreshes and keep the host device nearby. Do not start another model’s reset simply because discovery takes a moment. First verify that the correct reset indication occurred and that Bluetooth is enabled.

If the earbuds still will not connect
Bluetooth is off or the earbuds are not discoverable
Confirm Bluetooth is enabled on the phone or computer and that the earbuds are out of the case and in pairing mode. A reset does not replace the normal discovery step: the earbuds must advertise themselves before the host device can list them.
The earbuds are too far away or blocked
Move the earbuds and connecting device within 10 metres and remove physical obstructions. This distance is boAt’s troubleshooting guidance, not a guaranteed operating range in every environment.
One earbud is not showing an LED
For the 318 procedure, boAt advises trying to power on an earbud manually if its LED is not blinking. Then repeat the model’s specified reset sequence and look for the correct five-flash confirmation. Do not assume that a silent LED means the 214 case-button method should be used; verify the model first.

The LED confirmation never appears
Check the physical setup before trying again:
- For the 214, make sure both earbuds are seated in the case in the correct orientation, the lid is open, and the case button is held for the full 10 seconds.
- For the 318, make sure both earbuds are outside the case and that the CTC on each one is touched for the full five seconds.
- For either model, look for the documented rapid five-flash pattern before moving to the next step.
If the case or earbuds do not react after the correct sequence, the reset has not been confirmed. Repeat only after checking the model and placement rather than switching to another model’s instructions.
The old Bluetooth name keeps returning
That usually means the original pairing record was not removed. Forget the matching Airdopes entry again, complete the reset, close and reopen the case for the model’s required interval, and scan for a new listing. Select the model name that appears after the reset.
The case was left open too long on an Airdopes Plus 222
boAt’s 222 guidance warns that the case can enter sleep mode after 15 minutes with the lid open. If you are following the 222 procedure and the case stops responding, close the lid, then reopen it and continue with the documented reset and pairing steps for that model.
Model-specific notes for Airdopes Plus 222, 311, and 221
Airdopes Plus 222
The 222 uses a case reset button while the earbuds are inside and the lid is open. boAt says the case and earbuds show the reset with rapid LED flashes. Afterward, close and reopen the lid, then attempt pairing again. The 15-minute open-lid sleep warning applies to this model’s case.
Do not substitute the 214 sequence just because both models use a case button. The 222 instruction specifically calls for closing and reopening the lid after the rapid flashes, while the 214 procedure specifies a five-second closed-lid wait.
Airdopes Plus 311
The 311 uses a touch-control reset after the earbuds are removed from the case. Once the model’s reset indication appears, return the earbuds to the case, close the lid for five seconds, take them out, and try a fresh connection. Use the 311 instructions rather than copying the 318 touch duration unless the 311 support page specifies it for your unit.
The shared touch-control design does not make 311 and 318 identical. The 311’s own LED confirmation and timing take priority, so identify the model before holding either touch area.

Airdopes Plus 221
The 221 has case-button reset instructions. Its boAt support guidance also mentions Smart Diagnostics in the boAt Hearables app as a way to investigate connectivity issues. Smart Diagnostics is an additional 221-specific option; it does not establish a universal reset method for every Airdopes Plus pair.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Using a universal sequence: There is no single Plus-family reset that safely covers every model.
- Skipping “Forget”: A reset followed by selection of the old saved record can preserve the original pairing problem.
- Putting the earbuds in the wrong place: The 214 and 222 require the earbuds inside the case, while the 318 and 311 procedures begin with them outside.
- Ignoring the lid position: The 214 and 222 instructions use an open lid during the reset; closing it too early changes the procedure.
- Stopping before the LED signal: The rapid five-flash indication is the practical confirmation for the 214 and 318 sequences.
- Entering a code on the wrong model:
0000is identified for the 214 pairing fallback only.
What a reset can and cannot fix
A factory reset clears the earbuds’ prior Bluetooth relationship so the next connection can be established as a fresh pairing. It can help when a stale pairing record, incomplete connection, or mismatched earbud state prevents discovery. It does not prove that the hardware is healthy, charge the battery, repair a damaged case, or guarantee a connection in the presence of distance and obstructions.
Because the official instructions are model-specific and do not report independent success rates, no reset should be presented as guaranteed. A correct LED confirmation followed by a fresh pairing attempt is the practical checkpoint: if that sequence fails after the basic Bluetooth and range checks, the issue may be outside the reset process.
When to stop troubleshooting
- You have identified the exact model and used its own reset sequence.
- The old Bluetooth entry was forgotten before the reset.
- The required LED confirmation appeared.
- You attempted a fresh pairing with Bluetooth enabled and the devices within 10 metres.
- You repeated the process after checking earbud placement, touch/button timing, and case-lid timing.
If all of those conditions are met and the earbuds still cannot be discovered or connected, consult boAt support for that exact model and describe the LED behavior. Do not buy a replacement pair merely because a generic reset failed; first establish whether the problem is a model-specific procedure, a power or charging issue, or damaged hardware.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there one reset method for all boAt Airdopes Plus earbuds?
No. Airdopes Plus is a family of models. For example, the 214 uses a case reset button with the earbuds inside and lid open, while the 318 uses five-second touch controls on both earbuds outside the case. Identify the exact model first.
Should I forget the earbuds before resetting them?
Yes. Remove the matching Airdopes entry from the phone or computer’s Bluetooth history before starting the model-specific reset. This prevents the host from reusing a stale pairing record.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhat does five rapid LED flashes mean?
For the 214, the case LED rapidly flashes five times after a successful reset. For the 318, both red earbud LEDs rapidly flash five times. Use the LED behavior specified for your model as confirmation before pairing again.

What if my Airdopes 214 asks for a PIN?
For the 214 only, boAt specifies 0000 as the passcode fallback. Do not treat that code as a universal requirement for every Airdopes Plus model.
Why does my Airdopes Plus model not appear in Bluetooth after resetting?
Check that Bluetooth is on, the earbuds are out of the case and in pairing mode, and the host device is within 10 metres with obstructions removed. Also confirm that the correct model reset indication appeared and that the old Bluetooth entry was forgotten.
What should I do if one Airdopes 318 earbud has no blinking LED?
The 318 guidance says to try powering that earbud on manually before proceeding. Then repeat the 318 sequence with both earbuds outside the case and look for the rapid five-flash confirmation.
Can I use the 214 steps on an Airdopes 222 or 311?
No. The 222 uses its own case-button sequence, while the 311 uses a touch-control reset after the earbuds are removed. Similar controls do not make their timing or placement interchangeable.
When should I contact boAt instead of trying another reset?
Contact boAt for the exact model when you have forgotten the old Bluetooth entry, completed the correct reset, seen the required LED confirmation, tried pairing within 10 metres, and checked placement and timing, but the earbuds still cannot be discovered or connected.
The Bottom Line
Identify the exact Airdopes Plus model, forget its old Bluetooth entry, and use that model’s own reset control and LED confirmation. The 214 uses a 10-second case-button reset; the 318 uses a five-second touch on both earbuds. After the required lid step, take the earbuds out and make a fresh pairing attempt within 10 metres.
