The company that charged your payment controls the refund. For a purchase billed by the EA app or EA.com, open EA Account → Payments & Wallet and run the EA Refund Tool; contact EA Help if the tool cannot resolve the case. Purchases billed by PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Epic, a mobile store, or a physical retailer must be requested from that seller instead.
Refund eligibility depends on what you bought, when you bought or launched it, whether downloading or consumption began, and consumer law where you live. Separately purchased Battlefield 6 coins, DLC, and other in-game currency are excluded from EA’s standard refund policy, while platform stores apply their own add-on and consumable rules.
Start with the seller that charged you
Do not choose a support route based only on where Battlefield 6 appears in your library. Identify the merchant on the receipt, bank statement, platform purchase history, or EA account. The merchant that captured the payment is the first party that can reverse it.

Step 1: confirm the transaction before opening a case
Gather the evidence that identifies the charge. A platform library showing Battlefield 6 is not enough because the game and an add-on can be billed by different merchants.

- Read the email receipt and the merchant name on your bank or card statement.
- Check the platform purchase history for the exact order number, item description, currency, and date.
- In an EA-billed transaction, open EA Account → Payments & Wallet and match the transaction to your receipt.
- Write down the EA account used, the platform on which you played, and whether the item was downloaded, opened, consumed, modified, or transferred.
- Record the first time you launched the full game if the request concerns the game itself, not just an add-on.
Use one request per transaction when the seller asks for an order number. If several items were bought together, identify each item separately rather than describing the whole order as a single product.
EA app or EA.com purchases
Use the EA Refund Tool
- Sign in to the EA account that made the purchase.
- Open Payments & Wallet from the account area.
- Select the Battlefield 6 transaction you want to challenge.
- Choose the EA Refund Tool and answer its eligibility questions accurately.
- Submit the request and save the confirmation or case reference.
EA describes the tool this way: “You can use our Refund Tool to check if your game qualifies for a self-service refund and submit a request.” The tool’s result is tied to the transaction and the answers you provide; it is not a general approval for every Battlefield 6 purchase.
EA’s published eligibility windows

These are EA’s standard policy windows, not a guarantee that every transaction qualifies. The product type, edition, platform, account history, and applicable law can change the result. Keep the date and time of first launch available when you contact support.

EA states: “Downloadable content (DLC) and in-game currencies aren’t refundable if bought separately.” That exclusion covers separately purchased Battlefield 6 coins and separately purchased DLC under the standard EA policy. Editions that bundle virtual currency or content packs can also be excluded, even when the edition includes the base game.
An exclusion from EA’s standard policy does not change who billed you. If the payment was taken by a console, PC marketplace, mobile store, or retailer, use that seller’s rules instead of submitting an EA-app request for a transaction EA did not charge.

If self-service does not resolve the case
Contact EA Help and include the issue, Battlefield 6, the platform, the order number, and the account used. Explain the facts plainly: what was purchased, when it was purchased, whether it was launched or consumed, and why you are requesting a refund. If the tool says the transaction is ineligible, do not create a different description to bypass the result; ask support to review the exact order and explain any technical failure or statutory-rights question.
PlayStation purchases
Submit through PlayStation Support
For a PlayStation-billed Battlefield 6 transaction, open PlayStation Support’s refund request flow and select the matching purchase. EA cannot approve or reverse a PlayStation Store charge. Use the order details from your PlayStation purchase history, even if the item appears in an EA account.
How PlayStation classifies Battlefield 6 items
PlayStation treats virtual currency, skins, bonus levels, emotes, XP boosts, and other gameplay-depleted items as add-ons or consumables. That classification matters because an item can become ineligible once downloading or use has begun.
PlayStation’s general policy says a game or add-on can be cancelled within 14 days when downloading or streaming has not started. The result can vary with the item type and local law. If you bought coins or a skin and already opened, spent, or otherwise consumed it, state that fact; do not claim that the item was unused when it was not.
Information to include
- PlayStation order number and purchase date.
- The exact Battlefield 6 item, including the coin amount or add-on name.
- Whether the download started and whether any currency or content was used.
- The account and console associated with the charge.
- A concise, truthful reason for the request.
Xbox purchases
For an Xbox-billed charge, submit the request through Xbox or Microsoft support for that transaction. EA’s policy routes console-store purchases to the console storefront, so an EA Refund Tool request cannot replace the Xbox process.

Use the Xbox order history to obtain the order number, item name, date, and account. Tell support whether the purchase was the full game, an add-on, a currency pack, or another consumable, and whether it was downloaded or used. No separate Battlefield 6-specific Xbox timing rule is established here; the seller’s current response and the law that applies to your account determine the outcome.

Steam purchases
Open Steam’s purchase-refund flow
If Steam charged the payment, start with Steam Support rather than EA. Include the Steam transaction ID, the Battlefield 6 item, and the date. EA cannot process a Steam-billed purchase even when EA operates the game account or content service.
Do not overapply Steam’s 48-hour in-game-item rule
Steam publishes a specific 48-hour rule for in-game items in Valve-developed games. That rule requires the item not to have been consumed, modified, or transferred. Battlefield 6 is not automatically covered by that wording, so do not assume that a coin pack, skin, or add-on qualifies merely because the request is less than 48 hours old.
Describe the actual state of the item and let Steam identify the rule that applies to the transaction. If Steam directs you to EA, keep that direction with your case, but follow the merchant shown on the payment record when the two records conflict.
Epic Games purchases
Epic’s Battlefield 6 FAQ says, “In-game purchases are processed by EA,” and directs refund questions to EA Help. For an Epic transaction, first confirm in the receipt whether Epic or EA completed the payment. That distinction matters because an Epic account can display a purchase while the payment record points to a different seller.

- Open the Epic receipt or transaction history and identify the merchant of record.
- If EA processed the in-game purchase, contact EA Help with the Epic order details, Battlefield 6 platform, EA account, and item name.
- If Epic completed the payment, use Epic’s support and refund instructions for that order.
- State whether the content was downloaded, opened, consumed, or transferred.
Do not submit duplicate requests to both companies without explaining the billing record. Duplicate cases can make it harder for support to determine which merchant is responsible.
Pre-orders and cancellations
EA says pre-orders can be cancelled and refunded until release. For an EA-billed pre-order, use the Payments & Wallet transaction and the EA Refund Tool before the release date. If a platform took the payment, use that platform’s cancellation route and its published timing.
After release, a pre-order is no longer handled solely as a pre-release cancellation. The relevant launch, purchase, download, and item-use conditions become important, and the charged storefront still controls the request.
Choose the correct explanation for the item you bought

What to prepare before contacting support
A complete first message is more useful than a long narrative. Prepare these details in one place:

- Order or transaction number.
- Purchase date and, for a full game, first-launch date and time.
- Merchant and platform that charged the payment.
- EA account identifier and the platform account, without sending a password.
- Exact item name, edition, currency amount, or add-on title.
- Whether downloading, streaming, opening, spending, modifying, or transferring the content occurred.
- A truthful reason, such as an accidental purchase, an unlaunched game, a duplicate charge, or a technical problem.
- Relevant screenshots of the receipt or error message, with payment-card numbers and other sensitive data hidden.
Keep the original receipt and the support case number. If the seller asks for more information, answer the specific question rather than opening a second case for the same order.

When a request is denied or sent to the wrong company
The EA tool says the item is not eligible
Check that you selected the correct transaction and that the item was not a separately purchased currency pack or DLC. If the information is correct, contact EA Help with the tool result and ask for a review only when you have a concrete explanation, such as an account mismatch or an EA-controlled technical problem.
The seller says EA must handle it
Compare the seller’s message with the receipt. Epic’s Battlefield 6 FAQ specifically directs in-game-purchase questions to EA because EA processes those purchases, but a platform may still have processed a different charge in the same order. Send the receipt showing the merchant of record and follow the support team that actually took the payment.
The item was already consumed
Consumption is a material fact for platform policies. Tell support exactly what happened and when. A refund request cannot be made stronger by describing spent coins or used content as unused.

Record the error, server or connection symptoms, affected platform, and dates. Explain how the problem prevented play and whether it occurred during the first 30 days after release. EA’s longer technical-problem window applies only under its stated conditions, so the seller may ask for evidence that the failure was within EA’s control.
You believe local consumer law gives you an additional remedy
EA notes that statutory rights in some jurisdictions may provide remedies beyond its standard policy. Identify your country or region to the seller, describe the transaction accurately, and ask which legal or platform process applies. A policy exclusion does not by itself answer every local-law question, and this article does not replace advice from a qualified consumer-rights service.
Final checklist before you submit
- Match the charge to the merchant on your receipt or statement.
- Classify the purchase as the full game, an add-on, DLC, currency, or another consumable.
- Note purchase date, first launch, release status, download status, and use of the content.
- Open the correct seller’s refund flow: EA Refund Tool, PlayStation Support, Xbox/Microsoft support, Steam Support, Epic support, a mobile store, or the physical retailer.
- Provide the order number, account, platform, exact item, and a truthful explanation.
- Save the confirmation and continue in the same case if support requests more information.
The decisive rule is simple: the storefront that billed the payment controls the route. EA’s standard windows are 24 hours after first launch for an eligible full-game download, 14 days when the game has not been launched, and cancellation of a pre-order until release; separately purchased DLC and in-game currency are excluded from that standard EA policy. Platform rules and statutory rights can produce a different result, so submit the request with the transaction facts that apply to your seller.
