Do not download, repost, mirror, quote, or link to suspected GTA 6 footage. Save only the minimum identifying evidence—post URL, account or channel, platform, date and time, and a screenshot that does not show or redistribute the footage. Then use the host platform’s normal report path for a suspected policy violation. A formal DMCA notice is different: it is a legal declaration that should be submitted only by the copyright owner or an authorized representative. Rockstar Games says pre-release in-game footage from leaked copies will be taken down, regardless of how the copy was obtained, and directs questions about uncertain scenes to copyright@take2games.com.
Choose the right kind of report first
There are two distinct actions people call “reporting a leak.” A viewer can submit an ordinary platform report to flag suspected stolen, confidential, or policy-violating material. A copyright owner or authorized representative can submit a DMCA takedown notice, which identifies a protected work and alleges infringement under legal declarations. The second route carries substantially greater responsibility and should not be used merely because a clip is surprising or appears to be a leak.

If you are not Rockstar, Take-Two, or an authorized agent, do not sign a DMCA notice as though you own the game’s copyright. Use the platform’s ordinary reporting tool and, when appropriate, notify Take-Two with a careful description.
What to do when you find a suspected GTA 6 leak
1. Stop exposure without spreading it
Do not click through multiple mirrors, download the clip, save a copy, quote dialogue, embed a preview, or publish a “debunking” link that sends readers to the file. Each additional view, repost, or searchable URL can increase distribution and may expose you to malware, tracking, or account compromise. Do not ask other people to retrieve the footage for you.

2. Record only identifying evidence
Capture enough information for a moderator or rights holder to find the post, but not enough to redistribute the content. Record:
- the complete post or video URL, including the account or channel path;
- the account, channel, or page name and platform;
- the date and time you saw it, with your time zone;
- the post ID, video ID, or other identifier if the service displays one;
- a short factual description, such as “a pre-release gameplay clip claiming to show an unreleased mission”; and
- a screenshot of the page interface that avoids showing the footage, thumbnail, or spoiler text where possible.
Keep your notes private and unmodified. Do not create a public evidence thread. If the post disappears, note that it was unavailable when you checked rather than trying to locate a new mirror.
3. Check that the report is about the material you actually saw
Official sources do not authenticate any particular 2026 GTA 6 clip. Treat claims about authenticity, source, date, or development status as unverified unless Rockstar, Take-Two, or the relevant platform confirms them. A report can accurately say that a post is presenting material as leaked footage; it does not need to assert that the footage is genuine.

Use the service hosting the post, not a random account that claims to collect leak reports. Interface labels change, so verify the current path immediately before submitting.
YouTube
- Open the video or channel page without downloading the media.
- Use the video’s More or three-dot menu and choose Report.
- Select the closest truthful category, such as privacy, harmful or abusive content, spam, or another policy category offered by YouTube. Do not choose a copyright option unless you are the copyright owner or authorized representative prepared to make the required declarations.
- Describe what the item claims to be, identify the direct URL, and state that you are reporting a suspected pre-release leak. Avoid repeating plot details or pasting the footage.
- Submit the report and retain the confirmation number or email, if provided. Do not file dozens of duplicate reports for the same URL.
A normal community report asks YouTube to review the item under its policies. It is not a DMCA notice and does not require you to swear that you own the work.
Other social networks, forums, and file hosts
Open the host’s current help or safety page and use its in-product report for the exact post, account, or file. Select copyright only when you are entitled to make a copyright complaint. If the service offers a confidential “legal” or intellectual-property form, follow that service’s instructions rather than copying a YouTube declaration into a generic abuse form. Include one direct URL per item, the account name, and a neutral description.

Where a site has no visible report control, use its published trust-and-safety or copyright contact. Do not send the file as an attachment. If the site requires a login, create no new public post merely to submit evidence.
Rockstar and Take-Two’s stated position
Rockstar Games Customer Support’s policy, last updated January 10, 2025, says: “Any posting of in-game footage from leaked copies of the game prior to its official release date will be taken down, regardless of how the game was obtained.” That statement concerns posting in-game footage from leaked copies; it does not authenticate every clip circulating online or create a universal reporting form for every platform.
The same policy says: “Generally, Take-Two Interactive does not object to our fans using materials for non-commercial uses in a manner which does not intentionally spoil the plot for others.” It also says the policy is not exhaustive and may change. It does not cover exploitation for film, television, streaming distribution, music videos, advertising, books, magazines, or digital publishing.
If you are unsure whether a scene is considered a spoiler, Rockstar’s policy directs you to email copyright@take2games.com and describe exactly what scene you are wondering about and the context in which it would appear. Describe the post and scene without attaching, embedding, or linking to the leaked footage. For a suspected pre-release leak, you can provide the host URL and account details so the rights holder can locate it.
When a DMCA takedown notice is appropriate
A DMCA notice is a legal request from the copyright owner or an authorized representative. It is not a general-purpose “please investigate” message. You should be able to identify the copyrighted work, identify each allegedly infringing location, and truthfully make the required declarations.

Who may submit
- The copyright owner of the work, such as the entity that owns the relevant game footage rights.
- An attorney, agent, or other representative who is authorized to act for that owner.
- Not an unaffiliated viewer who merely discovered the post.
If you are a fan, journalist, moderator, or employee without documented authority, use the normal platform report and send a factual notice to the rights holder instead.

Information YouTube requires
YouTube’s copyright process requires contact information, a description of the protected work, direct links to each allegedly infringing item, the required good-faith and perjury statements, and a full legal-name signature. YouTube warns that false or abusive submissions can lead to account termination or legal consequences. Use the current YouTube Studio copyright tool or the published copyright contact route; labels and submission screens can change.
For each item, identify the exact URL rather than a channel homepage. Explain what protected work is involved—for example, an authorized game recording or other copyrighted audiovisual material—and what portion of the identified post allegedly reproduces or distributes it. If several URLs are involved, list them separately and check that every link resolves to the material described.
General elements illustrated by Sony’s procedure
Copyright procedures commonly require the same core elements: identification of the copyrighted work; identification and location of the infringing material; the claimant’s contact details; a good-faith statement that the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or law; an accuracy statement made under penalty of perjury; and a signature. Sony’s published procedure also describes those elements. The exact wording and submission channel vary by service, so use the host’s current instructions.
Check copyright exceptions before signing
YouTube instructs claimants to consider fair use, public domain, fair dealing, or another applicable exception before submitting a copyright complaint. A leak allegation does not automatically eliminate every exception. A short clip used for criticism, news reporting, commentary, or another legally protected purpose may require a different analysis from a full unaltered upload intended to let people watch unreleased gameplay.
Consider the purpose and character of the use, the amount and importance of the material used, whether the work is published, and the effect on the potential market, while recognizing that the applicable test depends on the jurisdiction. Do not treat this checklist as a legal determination. If the facts are close, obtain advice from a qualified copyright lawyer before signing a notice.
Privacy and disclosure risks
A formal complaint can reveal more about you than an ordinary report. YouTube may share the claimant’s name, primary email address, legal name, and description of the work with the uploader. YouTube generally keeps a physical address and phone number confidential unless they are requested in litigation, but confidentiality is not absolute.

An authorized representative can submit where the rights holder prefers not to communicate directly. Use a monitored professional address and understand that the legal name and other required details may still be disclosed. Do not enter a false name, disposable contact information, or a made-up ownership claim; that can invalidate the notice and create additional risk.
What happens after a notice, and how disputes work
Platform review and removal
The host may review the report, remove or restrict the item, contact the uploader, or ask for more information. A platform report can be closed without action if the item does not violate that service’s rules. A rights holder’s notice can also be rejected for missing URLs, unclear ownership, incomplete declarations, or an applicable exception.
Counter-notices
An uploader who believes content was removed by mistake may submit a counter-notice. Sony explains that a counter-notice includes personal information and may result in restoration unless the claimant files a court action. Because the process can disclose identity and move a dispute toward litigation, both a notice and a counter-notice deserve careful legal review.
Do not retaliate
Do not threaten the uploader, publish their personal details, create false reports, or coordinate harassment. Keep communications factual and limited to the host, rights holder, or legal adviser. Save confirmation emails and copies of what you submitted, but do not circulate the allegedly infringing media.

Common mistakes and safer fixes
Mistake: linking to the leak “for proof”
Fix: Give the host or rights holder the direct post URL privately through its reporting channel. A screenshot of the interface, with the media and spoiler text hidden, is safer than a clip, mirror, or public thread.

Mistake: reporting an entire channel without identifying items
Fix: List the exact videos, posts, or files. Platforms need a precise location to review and act.
Mistake: asserting that an unverified clip is genuine
Fix: Say that the account presents it as leaked GTA 6 footage. Leave authenticity to Rockstar, Take-Two, and the host platform.
Mistake: ignoring exceptions
Fix: Before signing, assess commentary, criticism, news reporting, fair use, fair dealing, public-domain material, and other applicable exceptions. Ask a lawyer when the analysis is uncertain.

Fix: Assume a formal complaint can disclose your name, legal name, primary email, and work description to the uploader. Use an authorized representative where appropriate and never provide false details.
Mistake: sending the file to Take-Two
Fix: Email a description of the scene, the context, and the host URL. Do not attach or embed the leaked footage unless the rights holder’s current instructions specifically require a secure submission method.
Practical checklist before you press Submit
- Have you avoided downloading, mirroring, quoting, or publicly linking to the footage?
- Do you have the exact host URL, account or channel, platform, and date and time?
- Does your screenshot avoid displaying the clip, thumbnail, or spoiler?
- Are you using the host’s current reporting or copyright channel?
- Are you making a normal viewer report rather than claiming rights you do not own?
- If you are filing a DMCA notice, can you identify the protected work and every infringing URL?
- Have you considered fair use, fair dealing, public domain, or another applicable exception?
- Are the good-faith, accuracy-under-penalty-of-perjury, contact, and signature information truthful and complete?
- Do you understand that your name and primary email may be shared with the uploader?
- Have you saved the submission confirmation privately and avoided public escalation?
Bottom line for non-rights holders
If you are simply a viewer, the safest and most effective response is narrow: do not amplify the suspected leak, document the post’s location without copying the media, submit a normal report to the host, and notify copyright@take2games.com when a scene needs rights-holder guidance. Leave the DMCA process to Rockstar, Take-Two, or a representative with actual authority. If you own the rights or are authorized to act, use the platform’s current legal channel, identify every item precisely, check exceptions, and understand the disclosure and counter-notice consequences before signing.
