If a restaurant’s dietary information is wrong on Google, use Suggest an edit in Google Maps. Sign in, open the restaurant on a mobile device, choose the incorrect attribute, enter the correction, and submit it. If the error belongs to a particular dish, open that dish from the listing’s Menu and use its own Suggest an edit control. Restaurant owners and managers should edit the verified Business Profile instead.
Google limits place-attribute edits to certain countries and regions and says they can be suggested only from a mobile device. The available attributes and correction choices can differ by listing and region.
Choose the reporting route that matches the error
First identify where the incorrect information appears. A dietary statement attached to the restaurant as a whole is a place attribute. A wrong name or existence of a menu item is a dish-level problem. If you manage the restaurant, correcting the information through the Business Profile is more appropriate than submitting a public suggestion.

Google describes routine factual corrections separately from complaints about business conduct or policy violations. An ordinary dietary or menu error normally belongs in one of the first two routes, not in the fraud or misconduct complaint process.

Check the listing before you submit
Open the restaurant’s live listing and note exactly what is wrong. Confirm that you are looking at the correct location, especially when a business has multiple branches. Then decide whether the statement is attached to the place or to a dish.
- Place-level information: the incorrect detail appears among the restaurant’s attributes or general business information.
- Dish-level information: the error appears after opening the listing’s Menu and selecting a particular item.
- Owner-managed information: you represent the restaurant and can access its Business Profile editing controls.
Use the narrowest route that describes the problem. A dish that is missing or incorrectly named should not be reported as a general place attribute, and a restaurant-wide attribute should not be treated as a complaint about one dish.
Correct a general dietary attribute in Google Maps
Google’s Android instructions describe the place-attribute workflow in its Edit place information in Google Maps help page. The labels can vary slightly by device, region, and attribute, but the sequence is the same.
- Use a mobile device and sign in. Open the Google Maps app or mobile Maps experience with the Google account that will submit the suggestion.
- Open the restaurant. Search for the business or select it on the map. Check the address and location so the edit is attached to the correct place.
- Start an edit. Open the place listing and select Suggest an edit.
- Select the incorrect attribute. Choose the dietary or other place attribute that is wrong. Only attributes offered for that listing can be selected.
- Enter the correction. Choose the accurate value when the interface presents one. If you know the displayed information is wrong but cannot establish the correct value, select Don’t know, but this is incorrect when that choice is offered for the attribute. Google does not provide that option for every attribute.
- Submit the suggestion. Review the selected change and send it to Google for review.
Google explains that edits are reviewed to help keep Maps accurate. A submitted suggestion is not an immediate replacement of the public information; it is a request for Google to evaluate the listing.
If the exact dietary attribute is not listed
Do not force a dish-specific problem into an unrelated attribute. If the incorrect statement is part of a menu item, leave the place-attribute flow and use the item’s own menu editing route. If the relevant place attribute is not offered at all, the mobile and regional restrictions may be the reason you cannot submit it through this workflow.
If you know it is wrong but not what the answer should be
Some attributes offer Don’t know, but this is incorrect. That option is intended for a confirmed error when you cannot provide a replacement value. Because Google says the option is not available for every attribute, its absence does not mean that another hidden form is available; use the choices shown for that attribute.

Report an incorrect dish or menu entry
A menu item has a separate reporting path. Google’s Add & explore dishes in Google Maps guidance covers public dish information.
- Open the restaurant listing in Google Maps.
- Select Menu.
- Open the dish that contains the incorrect information.
- Select Suggest an edit for that dish.
- Choose the reason that matches the problem, such as an incorrect dish name or Dish not served here, then submit.
Google also describes a dish as reportable when it is inaccurate or does not exist. This route is distinct from changing a general restaurant attribute, so use it when the problem is attached to the individual menu entry.
If the restaurant listing has no Menu section or the problematic statement appears only in the restaurant’s general attributes, return to the place-level workflow instead. A missing menu section does not create a dish-edit form that is not displayed.
How owners and managers should fix the information
If you own or manage the restaurant, use the editing controls for the verified Business Profile. Google provides owner tools for both profile attributes and restaurant menu items. Its guidance for business owners is available in Manage your business attributes and Edit your Business Profile.
For menu information, Google’s About the menu editor page explains the owner menu tools. The practical sequence is to sign in to the Google account that manages the profile, open the restaurant’s Business Profile, use its profile-editing controls for attributes or its menu editor for dishes, save the correction, and check the public listing after processing.

Owner corrections versus public suggestions
A customer suggestion enters Google’s review process as a proposed change. An authenticated owner can edit the business information directly through the Business Profile tools, which is the appropriate route for a restaurant representative. Customers should not claim ownership or use owner tools they do not control.
Popular dish names
Google also documents restaurant-owner and customer handling of popular dish names in Manage your restaurant’s popular dish names. Use the dish-level suggestion route when the public dish entry itself is wrong; use the owner menu editor when you are responsible for maintaining the restaurant’s menu.
When a photo can support the correction
Google’s place-edit instructions allow a photo to be attached when it helps verify the suggestion. A useful photo should show the relevant information clearly, such as a current menu or sign that establishes what the restaurant actually offers. Attach one only when it supports the specific change you are submitting.

Before adding a photo, check that it does not expose personal information or anything you do not want associated publicly with your Google account. A photo is optional; do not add one merely to make the submission look more substantial.
What happens after you submit
Google reviews suggested edits and may update Maps when it determines that the change improves accuracy. Its general place-edit guidance says that changes can take time to appear and that Google will update users about the status. It does not provide a guaranteed publication deadline for ordinary attribute corrections. See Google’s place-information instructions for the review and status guidance.
Timing differs by correction type:
- General place attributes: no guaranteed publication time is stated.
- Owner menu edits: Google gives 24–48 hours as the expected time for changes to display.
- Certain dish-name edits: Google says it aims to post them within a few days, but does not guarantee that outcome.
Do not submit repeated versions of the same suggestion simply because it is not visible immediately. First verify that you used the correct route, that the edit was submitted, and that the listing is in a supported region. A delay does not by itself prove that Google rejected the correction.

Do not use the fraud complaint route for a normal dietary error
Google’s Report a business on Google Maps guidance distinguishes routine edits from reports about business conduct and policy violations. The redressal complaint route is specifically described for suspicious or fraudulent business names, phone numbers, or URLs.
An inaccurate dietary attribute, an incorrect dish name, or a dish that is no longer served is normally a factual listing correction. Use Suggest an edit or, if you manage the restaurant, the Business Profile editor. Reserve the misconduct or fraud route for the kinds of suspicious business information and policy concerns Google says it covers.

Mobile-only attribute editing
Google says place-attribute edits can be suggested only on a mobile device. If you are using a desktop computer and cannot find the attribute-edit controls, switch to a mobile device rather than assuming the listing is locked permanently.
Country and region restrictions
Google states that place-attribute editing and general Maps data corrections are available only in certain countries and regions. A feature can therefore be absent even when the listing and your account are otherwise working normally. Availability is determined by Google’s service coverage, not by a setting you can force on the listing.
Different attributes have different choices
The correction choices are not identical for every attribute. One may let you select a replacement value, while another may offer only the option to report that the displayed value is incorrect. Follow the choices shown for the specific attribute instead of selecting an unrelated one.

Submitting a correction sends it for review; it does not guarantee that Google will accept or display it. Google’s review process is intended to keep Maps accurate, and the published help pages do not promise that every valid-looking suggestion will be posted.

Troubleshoot a missing or unsuccessful correction
“Suggest an edit” is not visible
Confirm that you are signed in, that you opened the correct place listing, and that you are on a mobile device. If the relevant attribute controls still do not appear, the feature may not be available in your country or region, or that listing may not expose the attribute for editing.
The attribute has no replacement value
Use Don’t know, but this is incorrect only when that option is displayed and you cannot determine the correct value. If it is not offered, Google has not made that choice available for the attribute; do not substitute a different attribute to approximate the report.
The menu item cannot be found
Open the listing’s Menu section again and check that you selected the individual dish before looking for Suggest an edit. If the menu or item is absent, the public dish route cannot be used for that entry. A restaurant owner should correct the menu through the Business Profile editor.
The edit has not appeared
General attribute edits have no stated guaranteed deadline. For an owner menu edit, allow the 24–48-hour display window Google publishes; for certain dish-name changes, Google’s target is within a few days without a guarantee. If the information remains wrong after a reasonable wait, recheck that you corrected the right listing and used the route matching the location of the error.
A quick decision checklist
- Is the wrong information attached to the restaurant or to one dish?
- Are you using a mobile device for a place-attribute suggestion?
- Are you signed in and viewing the correct restaurant location?
- Does the attribute offer a direct replacement or only an incorrect-information option?
- Would a clear, publicly attributed photo help verify the correction?
- Are you an owner or manager who should use Business Profile tools instead?
- Are you avoiding the fraud or misconduct route unless the issue actually concerns suspicious business information or a policy violation?
Following that decision path keeps a general dietary correction, a dish-level report, and an owner-maintained profile in the workflows Google provides for each one.
