A game-breaking bug report is useful when another person can start from the same state, follow your numbered actions, see the same failure, and understand exactly what play is blocked. Include the game and build, platform and hardware, prerequisites, exact reproduction steps, reproduction rate, expected and actual results, impact, and evidence. Submit it through the official in-game reporter, support form, or issue tracker rather than assuming a forum or social post reaches QA.
What makes a game-breaking bug report reproducible?
QA teams do not need a long story; they need an executable procedure. A strong report defines the starting state, removes ambiguity from every action, identifies the build and environment, and shows the failure with enough evidence to verify it. It should be brief enough to scan but complete enough for someone who has never seen your save or account to repeat.
Use a title that names the feature, location, trigger, and player impact. For example: “Quest door stays locked after respawn in Chapter 3; progression blocked.” This is more useful than “Game broken” because it tells triage what failed and why it matters before the report is opened.

Define the failure and its impact
Describe the player-facing block
Use concrete consequences: a quest cannot continue, a save will not load, a crash prevents play, progression is permanently blocked, or a match cannot be completed. Explain where the player is stopped and whether restarting, changing modes, or loading another save helps.
Separate severity from priority
Severity is how badly the defect impairs play. A crash on every launch or an unwinnable required quest is severe because the affected content cannot be played. Priority is how soon the team should address it, which may depend on release timing, the number of players affected, or whether a workaround exists. If the receiving tracker has separate fields, fill them independently rather than using “game-breaking” for both.
Do not invent an industry-wide severity score. The available guidance supports reporting impact and severity, but it does not establish a universal scale used by every game studio.
Collect the setup before writing
Record the details that can change behavior. If a value is irrelevant, omit it rather than adding a vague statement. Include the date, time, and region when the issue could depend on a server, event window, language, or locale.

On PC, attach a DxDiag report when the support channel requests it. Bungie’s PC guidance specifically asks for CPU, GPU, RAM, GPU-driver version, OS version, connection details, and DxDiag. Gaijin’s instructions likewise ask reporters to select the platform and game version and attach the required client or launcher logs.
Write exact prerequisites and starting state
Reproduction fails when the report silently assumes a particular save, quest stage, item, or party. Put those conditions before step one. State whether the test uses a fresh launch, an existing session, a particular save slot, or a checkpoint.
- Name the location, menu, mission, chapter, or checkpoint where the test begins.
- State quest or story progress and the character’s relevant inventory or equipment.
- List party members, matchmaking status, game mode, difficulty, and active modifiers.
- Identify mods, accessibility options, language, and display or input settings that could affect the result.
- Say whether the game must be restarted, the save reloaded, or the account reconnected first.
- Describe the online state, server, region, and any condition such as “after reconnecting.”
If you can reproduce the problem from a new save, say so. If it only occurs on one damaged save or account state, identify that limitation; it helps QA decide whether to request the save file or account telemetry.

Turn the report into an executable procedure
Number the actions from a named starting point. Use the game’s exact on-screen labels and the actual inputs, including controller buttons or keyboard keys. End with the action that triggers the failure and state what the tester should observe.
- Start from a named menu, save slot, checkpoint, or in-game location.
- Perform one clear action, such as selecting a labeled menu item, entering a location, equipping an item, or speaking to a named character.
- Record any required repeat, wait, reload, death, respawn, reconnect, or party change.
- Perform the final input that triggers the defect.
- Observe the failure and note the exact message, blocked interaction, missing object, crash, or lockout.
Keep each step testable. “Play normally until it breaks” cannot be executed consistently; “From Save Slot 2, select Continue, travel to the east gate, let the character respawn, then interact with Open Door” can.
Report the reproduction rate
Count your own attempts and label the conditions. Write “5/5 attempts from Save Slot 2,” “intermittent, 3 of 10 attempts,” or “only after reconnecting to the North America server.” Do not present a personal count as a population statistic. If the issue occurs only after a sequence of failures, include that sequence and the number of times it was tested.
Separate expected and actual behavior
Use two clearly labeled sections. The expected result is what should happen after the final step if the game is working. The actual result is what happened in your test, including exact error text, timing, and whether the player can recover.
For example:
- Expected: After respawning, the Chapter 3 quest door unlocks and the player can enter the next area.
- Actual: The door remains locked, the interaction prompt is absent, and reloading the checkpoint does not restore it. Progression cannot continue.
Do not combine these into a sentence such as “The door is bugged.” The contrast lets QA verify the defect and lets designers understand the intended outcome.
Attach evidence that shows setup and failure
Evidence should reduce uncertainty, not merely prove that something looked wrong once. A short screen recording is often the strongest single attachment because it can show the starting state, actions, timing, and failure in sequence. Screenshots are useful when the error text or final state is static.

Gaijin’s instructions call for relevant logs, screenshots, or video, while Last Epoch’s support guidance asks users to use the in-game reporter, select Attach Player Data, and select Add Screenshot. Follow the receiving channel’s attachment limits and required fields rather than uploading every file you have.

Protect private information
Inspect logs, screenshots, and video before sharing. Redact account tokens, email addresses, authentication codes, private chat, payment information, and unrelated personal data. Do not post credentials or session tokens in a public issue tracker. If a support team needs an unredacted diagnostic file, use its authenticated upload process and follow its retention instructions.
Choose a channel that reaches QA
Use the game’s official in-game reporter, support form, or issue tracker. A forum post or social-media thread may be visible to other players without entering the queue used by support and development.

Gaijin notes that its dedicated issue service is reviewed by personnel who gather information and forward it to the development team. That illustrates why the destination matters: choose the channel whose documented workflow reaches the responsible queue.

Workaround and regression notes: [temporary workaround, last known good build, whether the issue is new]Replace every bracketed item with a specific value or remove the line if it genuinely does not apply. Do not leave assumptions for the triager to infer.
Add workaround and regression information
State whether any temporary workaround exists, such as loading an earlier save, disabling a mod, changing a setting, or reconnecting. A workaround does not make a progression block less important, but it helps QA isolate conditions and helps support advise other players.

Record the last known good build or patch if you tested it. Say whether the issue began after an update, survives a clean launch, or occurs only on a particular save. If a new patch changes the behavior, update the existing report when the channel allows it instead of creating an unrelated duplicate.
Common report failures and how to correct them
“It happens randomly”
Replace the label with an observed rate and conditions. Note the number of attempts, the point at which the behavior diverges, and any differences between successful and failed runs.

Missing version or platform
Copy the exact build number from the game, launcher, or console information screen. Include the store, device model, OS, and driver details required by the channel.
Steps begin after the important trigger
Start earlier. Include the load, respawn, reconnect, menu selection, or quest transition that creates the state. If a fresh launch is required, make it an explicit prerequisite.

Test every link in a private browser window or with the permissions a support agent will have. Use the official upload facility when possible, and keep files within the stated size and format limits.
Private data is exposed
Redact tokens, email addresses, and unrelated conversations before attaching files. Move sensitive diagnostics to the authenticated support channel rather than a public tracker.

Preconditions: Chapter 3 quest active, Save Slot 2, normal difficulty, no mods, default accessibility settings. A fresh launch is required.
- Launch the game and select Continue to load Save Slot 2.
- Travel to the east gate shown by the Chapter 3 objective marker.
- Enter the hazard area and allow the character to be defeated.
- After respawning at the checkpoint, walk to the quest door and select Open Door.
Reproduction rate: 5/5 attempts after respawning at this checkpoint.
Expected result: The door unlocks and the player enters the next quest area.

Evidence: A timestamped recording shows the load, defeat, respawn, and missing interaction prompt; a screenshot captures the locked door and objective marker. Relevant client logs are attached through the official form after personal account data was redacted.
This example works because the tester knows the build, save, quest state, trigger, exact input, repeat count, expected outcome, actual outcome, and consequence. The same structure can describe a launch crash, a corrupted save, a matchmaking failure, or any other defect that prevents play.
