While a gambling ad is playing, open its More or Info menu, choose Report ad, and complete YouTube’s prompts. If the ad has ended or the player does not offer that control, use YouTube’s online ad-report form from its Help pages.
A report asks YouTube to review a suspected policy problem. It is not proof that the ad broke a rule, and YouTube does not promise that every report will result in removal. Gambling advertising is allowed in some countries and categories when advertisers meet licensing, age-targeting, disclosure, and certification requirements.
Report the ad while it is on screen
YouTube’s documented player workflow is available on mobile devices and computers. The exact placement of the control can vary with the player layout, but the relevant labels are More or Info, followed by Report ad.

- Leave the ad visible long enough to open its controls. Do not click through to the gambling site unless you intend to visit it.
- Select More or Info on the ad.
- Select Report ad.
- Follow the questions YouTube displays and describe the concern accurately.
- Submit the report through the on-screen form.
YouTube Help describes the purpose this way: “If you see an ad that is inappropriate or even violates Google’s ad policies, you can report it.” The control is for flagging the ad for review, not for making a legal finding about the advertiser.

If you cannot find the menu
The player route is documented for mobile and computer. The cited YouTube guidance does not confirm that equivalent controls appear on every television, streaming-device, game-console, or other interface. If you are watching on a device without More, Info, or Report ad, use a phone or computer where the ad is available, or use YouTube’s online ad-report form.
Do not confuse the ad’s menu with the controls for the video, channel, or comments. You want the menu attached to the advertisement itself. If the player offers only options such as hiding the video, saving it, or reporting the channel, those are different processes and do not send an ad-policy complaint.
What to do when the gambling ad has disappeared
You do not have to wait for the same ad to appear again. YouTube’s Help guidance points viewers to an online ad-report form when the ad is no longer displayed or the in-player reporting route is unavailable.
- Open YouTube Help and locate the page for reporting policy-violative ads.
- Open the ad-report form linked from that Help page.
- Provide the information requested by the form and explain what you observed.
- Submit the form once the description is complete.
The form is the documented alternative to the player menu. Do not substitute a general comment, a video dislike, or an unrelated account complaint for the ad-report process; those actions do not perform the same review request.
If you remember the wording, brand, gambling category, or landing-page claim, include those details when the form asks for them. Explain where the ad appeared and what made it concerning. Keep the description factual and concise rather than repeating the same allegation in several ways.
Describe the concern with observable facts
A useful report separates what you saw from what you assume. State the ad’s gambling category if you can identify it, the wording or imagery that concerned you, and the circumstances in which it appeared. If the concern involves age or location targeting, say what you observed rather than asserting a conclusion you cannot verify.
- Explain the specific issue. For example, identify a missing responsible-gambling warning, an apparent attempt to reach minors, or a claim that seems inconsistent with the rules for your location.
- Identify the context. Note whether the ad appeared before a video, during playback, or in another YouTube placement, and whether you saw it on mobile or computer.
- Use accurate wording. A report should request review of a suspected problem; it should not present an unverified accusation as an established violation.
- Do not provide unnecessary personal information. Include only details the form requests or that are needed to explain the ad.
YouTube says its team will take action if appropriate. That wording means a report starts a review; it does not guarantee that the ad will be removed, that the advertiser will be sanctioned, or that the same ad will no longer be shown to you.

Examples of precise descriptions
A useful description might say that an online betting ad appeared during a video, appeared to address children, or lacked a responsible-gambling warning that you expected to see. If the ad made a location-specific claim, identify the location you were in and the exact claim you noticed. You can ask YouTube to check licensing, age targeting, certification, or disclosure compliance without claiming that you have already proved a violation.
Avoid relying only on statements such as “I dislike gambling” or “this ad is offensive.” Those reactions may explain why you want different ads, but they do not identify a policy issue. You may still use blocking or ad-personalization controls for that preference.

Why a gambling ad is not automatically a policy violation
Google does not categorically ban gambling advertising. Its Gambling and games policy says: “We support responsible gambling advertising and require that advertisers abide by local gambling laws and industry standards.” Eligibility depends on the country, gambling category, targeting, licensing, certification, and the content of the ad or its landing page.
Conditions that can apply
Google’s policy describes several recurring requirements for eligible gambling or gambling-promoting ads:

- The advertiser must target a country or market approved for the relevant gambling category.
- The landing page must display responsible-gambling information where the policy requires it.
- Advertisers must not target minors.
- Country-specific legal requirements, licensing rules, and certification requirements must be met.
- Restrictions can differ between online gambling, sports betting, lotteries, games, and other categories.
Some rules concern the destination page rather than the short creative that a viewer sees. An ad can therefore omit details from its video while the landing page carries required responsible-gambling information. Conversely, a warning in the creative does not by itself prove that every other eligibility requirement has been met.
Those conditions mean that the subject of the ad alone is not enough to determine compliance. Two ads that both promote betting can be treated differently because they target different countries, use different categories, or have different licenses and disclosures.
Illustrative United States sports-betting rules
Google’s policy example for certain U.S. online sports-betting ads allows national targeting on YouTube, but it also says advertisers must not target people under 21 or people outside licensed states. For that specified category and market, the ad’s landing page or creative must include a warning about addictive and compulsive gambling and information about related assistance.
This is a U.S. example for a particular category, not a universal rule for every gambling advertisement. Age thresholds, licensing requirements, approved locations, and disclosure obligations can change with the market and product. A viewer who sees an ad cannot reliably infer all of those facts from the creative alone, which is why the appropriate action is to report a suspected problem and let YouTube and Google assess it under the applicable rules.
Category and market matter
“Gambling ad” is a broad description. Online casino promotion, sports betting, lotteries, games, and other gambling-related services can have different eligibility conditions. A rule that applies to one category or country should not automatically be applied to another. Certification may also be required before an advertiser can run a particular type of campaign.
If you are unsure which category applies, describe the visible product and let the platform classify it. You do not need to identify the exact legal rule in order to submit a good-faith report. Your role is to provide the facts that prompted the concern.
Report, block, or change ad settings?
These controls serve different purposes. Choose the one that matches the result you want.

Blocking an ad can be useful when your immediate goal is simply not to see it again. It does not establish that the ad violates policy. Likewise, changing personalization settings is broader than reporting and may not prevent every gambling ad, because eligibility and delivery depend on the platform’s advertising systems and the settings you choose.

Blocking does not replace reporting, and reporting does not guarantee that delivery to your account stops immediately.
What to expect after submitting a report
A review, not an automatic takedown
YouTube treats the report as a request for review. Its team may take action if the ad is found to violate applicable policy, but the guidance does not promise removal for every report. The presence of a report, the number of reports, or your personal view that an ad is offensive does not by itself prove a violation.
Why a compliant ad may still be shown
An ad can look inappropriate to one viewer while meeting the rules for its approved market and category. For example, an operator may be permitted to advertise in one jurisdiction but not another, or may be required to show a warning or assistance information that is not obvious in a short video. Google’s policy also distinguishes between gambling categories, so a requirement that applies to one type of betting should not automatically be applied to every gambling promotion.
No guaranteed individual outcome
The published guidance promises that YouTube will take action if appropriate; it does not promise a personal decision, a specific enforcement measure, or a fixed response time for each report. Keep that limitation in mind when deciding whether to report, block, or adjust settings.

Possible platform action depends on what the review finds under the applicable policy. The public instructions do not promise that YouTube will tell every reporter which internal rule was applied, disclose action against an advertiser, or provide a case-by-case timetable. Submit the report with that limited expectation.
Policy and interface details can change
Google announced on October 7, 2026, that a change scheduled for October 21, 2026 would allow certain certified online-gambling advertisers to use YouTube Masthead ads. The announcement excludes some online-gambling-promoting content and says that the broader Gambling and games policy, legal requirements, jurisdictional limits, and age restrictions continue to apply.
Because today’s date is October 16, 2026, that announced Masthead change is not yet effective. Do not treat the announcement as permission that is already in force. After October 21, the specific eligibility and exclusion language still matters, and other gambling categories remain subject to their own requirements.
A scheduled effective date is not the same as a current rule. If you are reading this before October 21, the prior Masthead requirements remain in place. If you are reading it on or after that date, check the current announcement and policy wording, including certification and exclusions, rather than relying on a summary.

YouTube can also change menu labels, form fields, or which interfaces expose the reporting control. If the labels in your player differ from the steps above, use the current Help instructions and choose the option that explicitly reports an ad rather than a video or channel.
A practical checklist before you submit
- Is the ad still visible? If yes, use More/Info → Report ad. If no, open the ad-report form from YouTube Help.
- Are you reporting the advertisement itself rather than the video content around it?
- Can you state the specific concern in neutral, factual language?
- Are you distinguishing a suspected policy issue from a personal dislike of gambling content?
- If you mention age, location, licensing, or warnings, have you limited the claim to what you actually observed?
- Would blocking the ad or changing My Ad Center settings also address your immediate viewing concern?
- Have you avoided clicking through to the operator merely to investigate the ad?
- Have you checked that you are using the current YouTube Help form if the player control is unavailable?
Common situations and the right next step
The ad promotes betting, but nothing else seems wrong
Gambling promotion by itself does not establish a violation. If you have no concrete concern about targeting, licensing, disclosures, or another applicable rule, blocking the ad or adjusting ad preferences may better match your goal. You can still report it if you believe a specific policy requirement is not being met, but explain that specific concern.
The ad appears aimed at children
Google’s gambling policy says eligible gambling ads must not target minors. Report the ad through the player or form and describe the age-related context you observed. Avoid claiming that the platform intentionally targeted a child unless you have evidence beyond the fact that a child happened to see the ad.
The ad may not be legal where you live
Country and state rules can differ, and Google’s advertising eligibility is also jurisdiction-specific. Report the suspected policy issue with your location and the observable details requested by the form. The platform review is not a substitute for a legal determination about the operator or for advice about a particular jurisdiction.
The ad has no visible warning
Say that you did not see a responsible-gambling warning in the creative or on the page you reached, if you actually checked it. Do not assume every category uses the same placement or wording. Google’s requirements can specify the landing page, the creative, or both, depending on the market and category.
You want to stop seeing the ad immediately
Use the available block control for that ad, or review My Ad Center settings if you have enabled ad customization. Those actions address delivery to your account; use Report ad separately if you also want YouTube to review a suspected policy problem.
You saw the ad on a television or console
The documented in-player reporting path is listed for mobile and computer, not every television or connected-device interface. Use the online form from a phone or computer instead. Explain where you saw the ad and any identifying details you remember.
