If a GTA 6 (officially styled by Rockstar as Grand Theft Auto VI) advertisement, giveaway, pre-order, website, message, or download looks suspicious, do not click further or enter information. Save evidence, report the ad through the service where you saw it, verify the claim against Rockstar’s official channels, and start account or payment recovery immediately if you interacted. In the United States, also file a report at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
What to do first when you see a fake GTA 6 ad
Use this order: preserve what is visible, stop interacting, report the advertisement on its platform, verify the claim independently, then recover any account, device, or payment that may have been exposed. Reporting and recovery are separate tasks; completing one does not complete the other.
- Stop clicking. Do not open the destination again, download a file, reply to the advertiser, or enter a Rockstar password, payment number, or verification code.
- Preserve evidence. Capture the ad or sponsored post, including the advertiser or account name, platform, date, wording, images, offer, and any visible URL. Copy the destination address without visiting it again.
- Keep transaction records. Save receipts, order numbers, payment references, emails, direct messages, and account-alert messages if money or credentials were involved.
- Report it where it appeared. The platform can review the ad under its own scam, phishing, fraud, or deceptive-ad rules.

- Begin recovery. Contact the payment provider, secure reused passwords, enable two-step verification, and scan any device where you opened a file or granted access.
Preserve evidence before blocking or deleting the ad when practical, but never keep a suspicious page open just to collect more details. If the ad is still visible, note the exact time and your country, since availability and storefront information can vary by region. Do not create an account on the suspicious site merely to obtain more evidence.
How to report a fake GTA 6 ad on the platform that showed it
Report the advertisement to the service that delivered it. That is the only party that can apply its advertising policies to that placement. Button names change, so use the current report control in the app or website and select the closest accurate reason.

Google services
Google’s documented process uses the ad’s More or Info control:
- Open the ad’s More or Info menu.
- Select Report ad.
- Choose the reason that best describes what you saw, such as scam or phishing.
- Complete and submit the form, including the evidence requested.
Google also provides a separate route for legal-violation claims, including issues such as counterfeit or trademark violations. Use that route only when the facts support it; do not make a legal conclusion simply because an offer looks unprofessional. Google states that submitting an ad report does not block the ad, so use the platform’s separate block, hide, or advertiser-control feature if it is available.
Other social, search, and messaging services
For a different service, open the ad’s current menu and choose its report option. Select scam, fraud, phishing, deceptive advertising, or the nearest equivalent. The exact controls for individual services vary and should not be assumed to match Google’s sequence.
- Report the specific ad or sponsored post, not only the advertiser’s profile.
- Include the destination URL, payment request, impersonated company, and any promise of a pre-order, giveaway, beta key, or free download.
- Attach screenshots if the form allows them.
- Do not message the advertiser to warn them or negotiate a refund.
If the same creative appears in several places, report each placement separately. A platform report may help its review team, but it does not guarantee removal, a response, or recovery of money. Save the confirmation page or reference number if one is shown.
Platform report versus a consumer-fraud report
These reports serve different purposes. The platform report tells the service that carried the ad that its own advertising rules may have been broken. A consumer-protection report, such as the U.S. Federal Trade Commission route, records the broader fraud pattern for enforcement and public education. One does not automatically forward to the other.
Use the platform’s scam or phishing category when the central problem is a deceptive ad or link. Use a legal-violation option only for a factual claim you can support, such as a counterfeit product or misuse of a trademark. You do not need to decide whether conduct meets a legal definition before reporting suspicious behavior; describe exactly what the ad said and what happened.

There is no fee or special product required to submit these reports. A password manager may help prevent future reuse, but Rockstar does not require one for reporting. Do not pay a third party that promises to file a report or recover money for you.

Where to report a fake Rockstar website or GTA VI offer
Verify the claim through Rockstar
Rockstar’s pre-order guidance identifies its official GTA VI site, Rockstar Newswire, and Rockstar Propaganda email newsletter as places to find pre-order information. Its support information also lists the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Rockstar Store, and selected retailers or third-party storefronts depending on country. Product availability and approved storefronts can change, so check the current information rather than relying on an old screenshot or search result.
Start at rockstargames.com or Rockstar Support by typing the address yourself or using a saved bookmark. A sponsored placement, search result, social account, or page that merely uses the Rockstar name is not proof that it is official. Compare the title, release information, edition, price, platform, and seller rather than matching only a logo.
Inspect the sender and destination
Rockstar’s security guidance warns about messages that masquerade as official Rockstar email. Check the actual sender address, not just the display name, and inspect the destination of every link before opening it. Rockstar lists these official email domains:

A look-alike domain, extra words, misspellings, unusual subdomains, or a link that redirects elsewhere should be treated cautiously. A display name such as “Rockstar Support” can be typed by anyone. Never provide a password, one-time code, or login information through a suspicious link, even when the message uses Rockstar logos or a familiar-looking name.
There is no assumed dedicated GTA VI scam-ad channel
Do not present a general Rockstar contact form as a dedicated GTA VI advertising-fraud desk unless Rockstar publishes one. For an advertisement, the platform report is the primary moderation route. Use Rockstar’s official information to verify whether the claim is genuine and use its normal account-support process if your Rockstar account was affected.
How to report the scam to the FTC in the United States
People in the United States can report scams and bad business practices at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. File this report in addition to the platform report; the FTC does not replace the platform’s ad-review process.

- Open ReportFraud.ftc.gov by typing the address or using a trusted bookmark.
- Describe what happened: where the ad appeared, what it promised, the website or account involved, what information you supplied, and whether money changed hands.
- Provide dates, transaction identifiers, contact details used by the scammer, and the copied destination URL when the form requests them.
- Choose whether to provide your contact information for possible follow-up.
- Save the confirmation or reference information for your records.
The FTC explains that reports help it build cases, identify trends, and educate the public. It does not promise that an individual report will produce a personal response, remove an ad, or recover a payment. If you are outside the United States, use your country’s consumer-protection or cybercrime authority instead of assuming the FTC has jurisdiction. Reporting to a local authority does not replace notifying your bank or the platform.
What evidence should you include?
Give reviewers enough information to find the placement and understand the harm, without revisiting the suspicious page. A useful record normally includes:

- the exact promise, such as a pre-order, giveaway, beta key, discount, or free download;
- emails, messages, phone numbers, wallet addresses, order numbers, and payment references;
- the account or email address you used, but never your password or one-time authentication code;
- a short timeline stating when you clicked, paid, entered credentials, or installed anything.
Redact unrelated personal information before attaching files. Keep the originals in case a payment provider, account-support team, or law-enforcement agency asks for them. Evidence is useful for a report, but gathering it is never a reason to click a malicious link again.
How to tell whether a GTA 6 pre-order is a scam
Use independent verification rather than judging an ad by its design, countdown timer, number of comments, or apparent popularity. Ask whether the exact offer appears through Rockstar’s official GTA VI information, Newswire, support guidance, or an approved storefront for your country.

- From a different, trusted device when possible, change passwords that were used on the affected device.
- Enable two-step verification and review account sessions.

FTC data released in 2026 found that more than 40% of people who reported losing money to a social-media scam in 2025 said they had ordered something they saw in a social-media ad. The same release said people reported losing more money to scams on Facebook alone in 2025 than to scams by text or email. These are broad U.S. figures about reported social-media scams, not measurements of GTA VI scam prevalence.
