If someone posts your dating-app profile on social media, report the post to the social network that hosts it and report the member or conduct to the dating app. Before reporting, save the post URL, account name, date and time, and screenshots if you can do so safely. Then classify what happened: an ordinary profile screenshot, harassment, threats, exposure of personal information, impersonation, or non-consensual intimate imagery. The category determines the most useful reporting route.
A cruel roast can be upsetting without automatically violating a platform rule or a law. Reports are strongest when they describe exactly what the post shows, identify the accounts and links involved, and explain any specific risk—such as targeted harassment, a threat, doxxing, impersonation, or intimate imagery shared without consent.
Take these steps before you report
1. Preserve evidence without spreading it
Capture the post, the profile or page that published it, replies that add threats or personal information, and the visible date or time. Save the direct post URL, the account handle or displayed name, and the dating-app profile details if they are still visible. Keep an unedited copy of the original screenshots. A separate note can record when you found the post and what happened before and after it appeared.

2. Identify every service involved
There are usually two separate services: the dating app where the profile originated and the social network where the screenshot or roast is now published. The dating app can review its member, profile, messages, or off-platform conduct. The social network controls the post, comments, account, and any copies on its own service. Reporting to only one does not automatically notify the other.
3. Decide whether the post is ordinary mockery or a higher-risk violation
Write down the specific conduct rather than relying on labels such as embarrassing or abusive. Ask whether the post contains a threat, repeated targeted contact, your address or phone number, an attempt to impersonate you, sexual material, or an image altered to look intimate. Those facts are more useful to reviewers than an argument about whether the joke was mean.
Choose the correct reporting destination

Report the post on the social network
Because the network is not specified, its button names and forms cannot be stated reliably. Open the official help or reporting flow for the actual service hosting the post, not a similarly named app. The usual process is to open the individual post, choose its report option, select the closest truthful reason, and submit the URL and evidence when the form allows it.
- Open the post itself, not only the publisher’s profile.
- Record the direct post link and the publisher’s handle before blocking or muting the account.
- Choose the category that matches the conduct, such as harassment, threats, privacy or personal information, impersonation, or intimate imagery.
- Describe what is visible and who is affected. State whether the content identifies you, reveals personal information, targets you repeatedly, or includes a threat.
- Attach the original screenshots if the service permits them. Keep a copy of the submitted report and any confirmation number.
- If the post is copied elsewhere on the same network, report each accessible copy separately and identify the original when known.
Do not claim that a post is intimate imagery, illegal, or defamatory unless that description is accurate for the material and your circumstances. A factual report is less likely to be rejected as an abuse of the reporting system.

Report the dating-app member or profile
Tinder: report a profile before matching
Tinder’s Reporting profiles and content help article, updated December 27, 2024, says to report a profile from Discovery by opening the profile, tapping the three-dot menu, and choosing Report. The article also says individual profile content can be reported from its menu.
Tinder: report a match from the chat
For an existing match, open the chat, use the chat menu, and choose the reporting option. Use this route when the person sent the material, identified you, or continued conduct after you objected.
Tinder: report online or offline conduct
Tinder’s Safety Center says reporting is available before matching, after matching, and online for offline behavior. It specifically directs users to report harassment on or off the app and sexually explicit content sent without consent, including when the conversation moved to another service. If the match disappeared or you were unmatched, the same guidance says an online report remains available through Tinder’s contact route.

Tinder’s December 27, 2024 help article asks email or contact-form reporters to provide the reason, the exact displayed name, age, bio, and photos, plus any known location, phone number, or email address. It says screenshots are best. Add the social-media post URL and explain how you connected the post to the Tinder member or profile.

A concise chronology helps: when you matched, what was posted, where it appeared, when you reported it to the social network, and whether the person contacted or threatened you. Separate observations from conclusions. For example, state that a post displayed your first name, workplace, and profile photograph rather than simply calling it doxxing.
What Tinder may do
Tinder’s reporting policy describes automated intervention, Trust and Safety review, or both. If it confirms a violation, it may remove content, issue a warning, or ban the account. Those are possible outcomes, not promises that a particular report will produce a removal or ban.
Tinder says reports are confidential. The December 27, 2024 help article says the reported user may receive a generic account-review notice but will not receive your identity or report contents, except in rare cases required by law. Tinder also warns that false or malicious reports can result in a ban. Do not submit multiple reports with exaggerated claims simply to increase pressure.

An ordinary dating-profile screenshot or insulting roast is not automatically non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII). Tinder defines NCII as intimate images or videos shared without the depicted person’s consent, including real, digitally altered, or AI-generated material. “Intimate” generally concerns nudity or sexually explicit conduct.

If the post includes that material, use Tinder’s dedicated Reporting intimate images shared without consent (or NCII) process, updated June 25, 2026, as well as the host social network’s intimate-imagery route. Include the name or profile that helps locate the content, the places it appeared, links, screenshots, and whether you are the depicted person or are acting for someone else.
Tinder’s article states that, under U.S. law, it must remove content after a valid removal request from the depicted person or an authorized representative as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours. It also says it will make reasonable efforts to identify and remove known identical copies on its own platform. This 48-hour statement is U.S.-specific and applies to the NCII process; it should not be extended to ordinary profile screenshots, general roast posts, other platforms, or other jurisdictions without verification.
The same Tinder resource points to its U.S. helpline information and STOPNCII.org as optional support. These resources do not replace an urgent safety response or a report to the service hosting the material.

Use a short, factual description. Include the exact location of the content and the action you want the service to consider. A useful structure is:

Content location: the direct post or profile URL
Publisher: the displayed name and account handle
Date found: the date and approximate time
Dating-app profile: the displayed name, age, bio, photos, and any known identifier
What the content shows: a factual description of the screenshot, text, image, or conduct
Why it needs review: harassment, threat, personal information, impersonation, or intimate imagery, if applicable
Safety context: repeated contact, stalking concern, or immediate danger, if applicable
Requested action: review and removal under the service’s applicable policyAttach only evidence relevant to the report. Do not edit screenshots in a way that removes dates, usernames, or URLs. If you must redact unrelated private information, keep the unedited original securely and note that a redacted copy was submitted.
When threats, stalking, or immediate danger are involved
A platform report is not an emergency service. If the post contains a credible threat, publishes your location, encourages others to find you, or is part of stalking, preserve the evidence and contact local emergency services or an appropriate local support organization. Tell the platform clearly that the situation involves a safety risk, and ask trusted people to help monitor new contact without engaging the poster.
Do not meet the person to demand deletion. Avoid arguments in comments, because replies can give the poster more material and make the harassment harder to document. Block or restrict the account after evidence is saved, unless keeping the account visible is necessary for a safety professional or law-enforcement report.
Privacy, harassment, defamation, image-rights, and impersonation laws vary by jurisdiction and facts. This procedure does not establish that a particular post is unlawful, identify the poster, or guarantee a platform will remove it. For legal options, consult a qualified adviser who knows your location and the relevant evidence.
Understand screenshot protection limits
Tinder’s screenshot and screen-recording protection help article, updated September 7, 2026, says availability varies by region. In covered Android use, screenshot and recording capture is completely blocked; on iOS, capture is blocked while profiles are present. The feature does not make profile content impossible to copy. Tinder expressly cautions that no technology can completely prevent capture or sharing, including capture with another device.
Therefore, a blocked screenshot notification does not eliminate the need to report copied content. Continue to protect sensitive details in your profile, review who can see them, and document any misuse that occurs.
Common reporting mistakes
- Reporting only the dating app: The app cannot automatically remove a post hosted by a separate social network.
- Using a vague accusation: Explain what the post shows, where it appears, and how it identifies or targets you.
- Choosing the most dramatic category: Do not label ordinary mockery as NCII or a threat unless the facts support it.
- Leaving out identifiers: Include the displayed name, age, bio, photos, account handle, links, and screenshots when available.
- Assuming an unmatch ends the reporting option: Tinder says online reporting remains available for off-app conduct and when the match is gone.
- Filing retaliatory or false reports: Tinder warns that false or malicious reports can lead to a ban.
- Expecting a guaranteed outcome: A platform may review, remove, warn, or take no action depending on its rules and evidence.
- Submitting identity-based complaints: Tinder’s safety guidance says not to report someone merely for race, gender, sexual orientation, or not replying.
What to expect after submission
Save confirmation emails, case numbers, and copies of your submitted description. Check the account or safety center for follow-up requests, but do not repeatedly resubmit the same report with changed facts. If the post remains available, document new copies and report them through the host network. If the situation escalates from embarrassment to threats, stalking, exposure of personal information, or intimate imagery, update the report with that specific change and use the higher-risk route.
