You can replace Chrome on Android, but no source here verifies an open-source Android browser that runs every Chrome extension. Firefox for Android and Fennec F-Droid offer a Mozilla add-on route; browsers advertising Chrome extension support use a different route, and compatibility still depends on each extension. Choose based on the specific tools you need, then test them before changing your default browser.
Why Chrome for Android is not enough for extensions
Chrome for Android does not offer the desktop Chrome extension installation flow. To use browser extensions on a phone, you need another browser and must check which extension ecosystem it supports. An “extension support” label alone does not establish that a particular desktop extension installs or works properly on Android. Differences in APIs, permissions, background behavior, and phone-sized interfaces can all matter. Android Authority’s overview of Chrome extensions on Android discusses the broader browser landscape.
Open-source-oriented options use Mozilla’s add-on ecosystem
Firefox for Android
Firefox for Android is a route to Mozilla add-ons, not a way to install Chrome Web Store extensions. Check Mozilla’s current support information and the add-on catalog for the tools you rely on before switching. Mozilla’s Firefox for Android guidance covers web apps; it should not be read as confirmation that a Chrome extension will work in Firefox.

Fennec F-Droid
Fennec F-Droid is listed in F-Droid as a Firefox-based Android app. It is relevant if you prefer an open-source-oriented distribution route, but the available listing does not establish its exact current add-on catalog or release cadence. Check the listing and the app’s current version before relying on it for daily browsing: F-Droid’s Fennec F-Droid page.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.

Chromium-style extension claims are not the same as open-source proof
Quetta
Quetta’s FAQ describes it as a Chromium browser for Android and iOS with native Chrome extension support. Its Google Play listing advertises support for Chrome Web Store and Edge Add-ons extensions, and shows an update dated September 8, 2026. These are Quetta’s product claims, not independent confirmation that every extension works. The sources cited here also do not establish Quetta as open source. Review the browser’s permissions and test your specific extensions before making it your default. See Quetta’s FAQ and its Google Play listing.
Kiwi Browser
Kiwi historically appealed to users seeking Chrome-style extensions. The Kiwi Next GitHub repository describes support for most Chrome desktop extensions and identifies its license as the same as Chromium’s; that broad claim does not establish compatibility for every extension. Separately, Quetta’s competitor-authored comparison says Kiwi was archived and no longer maintained after January 2025. Because maintenance status affects the risks of daily browsing, verify the live project status rather than treating an archived build as a long-term default for accounts, payments, or passwords. Choose by extension source, maintenance, and daily needs
- Open-source preference: Check the browser’s source, license, distribution source, and update cadence. Open-source status does not mean Chrome Web Store compatibility.
- Chrome extension workflow: Verify each required extension’s install source, permissions, interface, and background behavior. A vendor-level support statement is not proof that your exact extensions work.
- Long-term daily use: Look for recent maintenance and security updates. Be cautious about relying on a browser reported as archived.
- Convenience: Consider whether built-in browser features can replace an extension. Use them only when documented and adequate for your task.
Test your essential extensions before switching
- Write down the extensions you cannot replace and the exact tasks or sites where you use each one.
- Install each on the candidate browser from its supported extension source, if available. Do not assume that desktop instructions or compatibility carry over to Android.
- Try the real workflow: sign in, respond to permission prompts, open any pop-ups, and check whether controls are usable on a phone screen.
- Check any background behavior you depend on, such as an extension continuing to work after you leave a page.
- Before changing your default browser, back up bookmarks and confirm that your password manager works in the candidate browser.
What a realistic replacement looks like
If your priority is an open-source-oriented browser, Firefox for Android or Fennec F-Droid points you toward Mozilla add-ons, not the Chrome Web Store. If your workflow depends on Chrome extensions, a browser advertising Chrome extension support may be worth evaluating, but its claim must be checked against your exact extensions. There is no verified basis here for promising that one open-source Android browser runs every extension a reader might need.
