To clean up duplicate Pinterest content, first decide whether you have duplicate Pins, overlapping boards, or simply a board that needs better organization. Move or sort Pins you want to keep, merge boards only after checking their followers and privacy, and delete individual Pins only when you are certain: Pinterest says deleted Pins cannot be recovered.
Choose the right cleanup action
“Delete duplicates” can mean removing an individual Pin, combining overlapping boards, or tidying a board without removing content. Choose based on what you want to keep:

Find duplicates and decide what to keep
- Check whether the duplication is at the Pin or board level. If the same or similar Pin appears more than once, review those Pins. If separate boards contain much of the same collection, consider moving Pins or merging the boards.
- Choose a destination before changing anything. Identify the board or section where each Pin should remain, and decide which board should be the destination if you plan to merge.
- Use a reversible organization step when unsure. Move Pins or group them into sections before deleting. Pinterest documents moving Pins between boards and creating sections as ways to organize content.
Move Pins you want to keep
You can move a single Pin through its edit controls, or select multiple Pins from a board using Organize. Pinterest documents routes for the web and app; the exact control wording can vary by surface and account, so follow the menu labels shown in your Pinterest account.

- Open the Pin and choose its edit control.
- Choose the option to change its board, then select the destination board and save the change.
Move several Pins from a board
- Open the board that contains the Pins.
- Choose Organize, then select the Pins you want to move.
- Choose Move, select the destination board, and confirm.

Merge overlapping boards carefully
Merge boards only when you want their contents together and are comfortable removing one of the boards. Before merging, check whether the board being merged has followers you want to retain and whether the destination board’s privacy setting is appropriate for the Pins. Pinterest says followers of the merged board do not transfer, and the destination board’s privacy setting applies.
- Open the board you want to merge into another board.
- Open the board’s options and choose the merge action.
- Select the destination board and confirm after reviewing the choice.
Pinterest warns that reversing a merge is not a simple undo: “To undo a merge, you’ll need to create a new board or section and move the Pins there, one by one.” See Pinterest Help’s merge instructions for the current controls.

Delete only Pins you have confirmed you do not need
Open the Pin, use its edit or options control, and choose the delete action. Review the selected Pin before confirming. Pinterest Help states: “Once a Pin is deleted, it cannot be recovered.” If you are uncertain whether a Pin is a duplicate or still useful, move it to the right board or organize it into a section instead. Archive a board instead of deleting it
If the whole board should disappear from your active profile but may be useful later, archive it rather than deleting it. An archived board cannot receive new Pins until it is unarchived, and Pinterest provides an option to unarchive it.

Deleting a board is more consequential: “When you delete a board, all the Pins on the board are deleted, too.” Pinterest Help documents a seven-day restoration period for deleted boards; restoration is available on desktop or Android. Consult Archive or delete a board for the current process.
