To remove Victory Shield, formerly Covenant Eyes, from a Mac, run its built-in uninstaller from Finder’s Applications > Utilities folder. You’ll need an uninstall code and may also need the Mac’s administrator password. Deleting the app by dragging it to the Trash is not the normal first step; use that only if the uninstaller directs you to do so for an error such as M622 or M623.
Uninstall Victory Shield from a Mac
The current Mac software is called Victory Shield, but an older installation may still use Covenant Eyes in its app or system settings. The vendor’s Mac uninstall instructions, updated September 21, 2026, describe this standard process:
- In Finder, open Applications, then open Utilities.
- Open Uninstall Victory Shield. If that file is not present, look for Uninstall Covenant Eyes. On versions earlier than 1.5.0, the uninstaller was placed directly in Applications rather than Utilities.
- If you already have an uninstall code, enter it and choose Uninstall. Otherwise, choose Get Code…, sign in with the Victory Shield account username and password, and use the code provided to continue.
- When macOS asks to authorize removal of the app or a system extension, enter the Mac’s administrator password. This is the password used to administer the computer, not the Victory Shield account password. macOS may request it more than once, depending on the prompts shown.
- Close the uninstaller when it reports that removal is complete. Restart the Mac if the uninstaller or macOS asks you to.
Get an uninstall code if you do not have one
The uninstaller’s Get Code… option is the direct route: enter the member’s Victory Shield username and password when prompted. The vendor says this route can generate a code even after a subscription has been cancelled. Keep those account credentials separate from the Mac administrator password requested by macOS.
Account permissions can affect other ways of obtaining the code. A member with uninstall permission and an active subscription can generate one through Victory online. If the account admin has removed that permission, the member cannot use the usual online flow; the admin can generate a code. The vendor’s guidance on uninstall codes and permissions was updated March 24, 2026.

Fix M622 or M623 during removal
M622 and M623 describe different failures. Follow the steps for the code displayed rather than deleting system files or applying the other error’s workaround.
M622: the uninstaller asks for user intervention
- In the M622 prompt, choose Reveal VictoryShield.app in Finder.
- In Finder, right-click the revealed app and move it to the Trash. Enter the Mac administrator password if requested; some people may be asked for it twice.
- Return to the uninstaller and continue. If a system-extension removal screen appears, follow its prompts. A website-filter step appears only for members using that filter.
- Restart if prompted.
These steps are specific to the vendor’s M622 instructions, updated May 15, 2026. In this recovery path, moving the app to the Trash is part of the error procedure, not the recommended first step for an ordinary uninstall.

M623: the network extension did not uninstall automatically
- Open Apple menu > System Settings > Network > Filters.
- Select the entry named Covenant Eyes or Victory Shield, then click the minus button to remove the filter.
- Continue the M623 prompt and enter the Mac administrator password if asked.
- Reveal the matching app in Finder, move it to the Trash, and restart if prompted.
The older Covenant Eyes label may appear on an earlier installation. The vendor’s M623 instructions were updated April 20, 2026.

Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription
Removing the Mac software and cancelling the account subscription are separate actions. The vendor says only the account admin can cancel a subscription. Its cancellation guidance recommends uninstalling after cancellation to avoid software notifications, internet connection issues, and repeated sign-in prompts. The vendor also says Mac uninstalls are reported by email and through the member’s reporting method.

Victory Shield’s listed Mac requirement is macOS 11 Big Sur or newer. Covenant Eyes renamed its Mac software Victory Shield in version 3.16, released September 24, 2025, so older installations may retain Covenant Eyes wording.

In release notes dated September 14, 2026, the vendor reports that Mac version 3.21.0 fixes an administrator-privileges uninstall failure on macOS 27, adds installation support for macOS Golden Gate 27, and no longer requires Rosetta 2 on Apple silicon. The preceding 3.20.2 release, dated September 2, 2026, lists uninstall improvements. These are vendor-reported release changes, not a guarantee that every Mac will show identical prompts or behavior.
