You can usually cancel a Fortnite Item Shop skin bought with V-Bucks within 24 hours if you have not used or equipped it in any game mode. After that, an eligible purchase from the previous 30 days may be returned with a Return Ticket. The skin is removed and the V-Bucks are credited back. If you paid real money through a console or mobile store, that store—not Epic—handles the refund request.
Choose the refund route that matches your purchase
First check what you bought, how you paid, and when the purchase happened. Fortnite’s Item Shop cancellation and Return Ticket rules apply to eligible in-game purchases; they are not the same as the Epic Games Store rules for refunding a game. Epic Games Support’s guidance, checked October 11, 2026, describes these options:

The 30-day ticket window does not make an otherwise excluded purchase eligible. A ticket also does not apply to a real-money transaction handled by another storefront. The quickest way to choose is to identify the transaction itself: was it an Item Shop cosmetic bought with V-Bucks, or was money charged by a console or mobile store?
If it was an Item Shop skin bought with V-Bucks, compare the purchase time with the 24-hour and 30-day windows, then check whether you used or equipped it and whether you have a ticket. If real money was charged by a third-party store, Epic’s in-game return options are not the route for reversing that charge. The store that processed the transaction controls its refund decision.

Cancel an unused purchase within 24 hours
Cancel Purchase is the fastest route when you bought the wrong Item Shop item or changed your mind soon after buying it. The item must still be unused and unequipped in every game mode. If it was used or equipped, the 24-hour cancellation option does not meet Epic’s stated conditions; check whether a Return Ticket route remains available instead.
For example, if you bought a skin less than a day ago and have not used or equipped it, check the cancellation page before doing anything else. If you have used or equipped the skin, the cancellation condition is not met even if the purchase is only a few hours old. The 24-hour period and the use condition both matter; meeting one does not replace the other.
- Open Fortnite and select your player icon.
- Choose Support and Refunds, then Return or cancel purchase.
- Select the eligible item and review the selection before proceeding.
- Confirm the cancellation. The V-Bucks refund appears on-screen.
Epic also documents a web route: sign in at fortnite.com/shop, open the player icon, select Return and Cancel Purchases, then Show Purchases. Choose the purchase and confirm. Menu wording may change, so if the current interface differs, follow Epic’s live support guidance rather than guessing at a menu.
Check the selected item carefully before confirming. Epic’s support instructions warn that a confirmed return cannot be undone. An item can be canceled only once. Make sure you have selected the intended purchase, especially if you are reviewing several items, and do not confirm until you are comfortable losing access to the item in exchange for the V-Bucks return.
Use a Return Ticket for an eligible purchase from the last 30 days
If more than 24 hours have passed, a Return Ticket may cover an eligible Item Shop purchase made within the previous 30 days. The ticket returns the item and credits its V-Bucks cost. If the purchase is older than 30 days, it falls outside the stated ticket window.
Use the same in-game or web path described above: open the refund page, view your purchases, select the item, and confirm. Review the choice before confirming because the return cannot be undone. If the item is eligible but you do not have a ticket available, Epic says Support cannot grant additional tickets once the 24-hour cancellation period has passed.

Think of the ticket option as a separate, limited window—not as an extension of the 24-hour cancellation rule. A purchase after the first day may still be considered if it is within 30 days, but it must meet the item-category rules and you must have a ticket. Likewise, having a ticket does not extend the deadline past 30 days or make a listed excluded purchase eligible.

A skin bought more than 30 days ago is outside that ticket window, even if your account has tickets remaining. A skin bought recently but already used or equipped cannot meet the unused condition for Cancel Purchase; whether it can be returned later depends on the separate Return Ticket eligibility rules.
How ticket inventory works
- An account starts with three Return Tickets.
- Epic Games Support says, “You get 1 new return ticket every 365 days.”
- You can hold no more than three tickets at once, so a ticket that would raise your balance above three is not added until you have room.
- A Return Ticket is used for an eligible return outside the 24-hour cancellation period; it is not an unlimited refund allowance.
This inventory matters when deciding whether to return a purchase. Before confirming, check how many tickets you have and consider whether you want to use one on this item. The available guidance does not promise an extra ticket if you run out. In particular, if the 24-hour cancellation period has passed and you have no tickets, Epic says Support cannot grant more.
Check exclusions before selecting an item
Even if a purchase is recent and you have a ticket, its category can make it ineligible. Epic’s current Item Shop guidance excludes:
- Passes and pass levels.
- Premium Reward Tracks.
- Gifted purchases.
- Level Up Quest Packs.
- Save the World loot llamas and event or weekly items.
- Purchases made in developer-made islands.
A bundle must be returned as a whole; you cannot return only one item from it under the stated bundle rule. Battle Pass rewards earned through gameplay also cannot be returned using Cancel Purchase or a Return Ticket. These category exclusions are separate from the time limits, so being within 24 hours or within the 30-day window does not override them.

A gifted purchase is excluded, for example, even if it is recent. A pass or pass level is not made eligible merely because it appears in your purchase history. If a skin was part of a bundle, the bundle rule means the choice is not simply to return that one component and keep the rest. And a reward earned through Battle Pass gameplay is different from an Item Shop cosmetic purchased with V-Bucks.

When the item is a bundle, consider the full result before proceeding: the bundle must be returned together. Do not assume that you can keep the other contents while reversing only the skin you no longer want. For other categories on the exclusion list, do not spend time trying to apply the standard ticket deadline as though it were the only eligibility test.
If you paid real money, contact the storefront that processed it
For a cosmetic or V-Bucks purchase charged through a console or mobile payment system that Epic does not manage, submit the refund request to that platform’s store. Epic says it cannot process those transactions, and approval depends on the store’s own policy; a refund is not guaranteed. Use the purchase record or receipt to identify which store processed the payment.
By contrast, if you spent V-Bucks on an Item Shop skin, check Fortnite’s own Return or cancel purchase page. The V-Bucks return removes the cosmetic from your account; it is not a cash refund. Keep this distinction in mind when the original V-Bucks were bought with real money through a different storefront: the storefront transaction and the later in-game cosmetic purchase are not the same refund request.

A request to return a skin purchased in Fortnite with V-Bucks belongs in the Item Shop return flow if the purchase meets its conditions. The fact that the V-Bucks may originally have been acquired with money does not make the later cosmetic return a cash refund. Separate the original payment from the in-game purchase when deciding where to ask.
Epic also distinguishes these Item Shop policies from its general rules for refunding a game purchased through the Epic Games Store. If the purchase you mean is a game rather than a Fortnite cosmetic, do not assume the skin-return deadlines or ticket inventory apply; check the guidance for the storefront and product involved.
What to do when the return option is missing
- The purchase is too old: Return Tickets cover eligible purchases from the previous 30 days. If the 24-hour cancellation period and the 30-day ticket window have both passed, the standard options described by Epic do not apply.
- The item was used or equipped: That disqualifies it from Cancel Purchase. If it is within 30 days, review whether the item category and your ticket balance allow a Return Ticket.
- The item is excluded: A recent purchase or available ticket does not change the exclusions for gifts, passes, certain packs and rewards, and other listed categories.
- You have no Return Tickets: Epic says Support cannot add tickets after the 24-hour cancellation window has passed. Do not assume that contacting Support will bypass the ticket limit.
- The interface labels differ: Epic may update menus. Use its current support article if the in-game or web steps no longer match the labels shown in your account.
- The payment went through a console or mobile store: Contact that storefront. Epic cannot issue the refund for a transaction it did not process.
Use the missing option as a prompt to recheck the basics rather than repeatedly confirming a different item. Confirm the purchase date, what kind of item it was, whether it was purchased or earned, whether the payment was made with V-Bucks or real money, and whether a ticket is available. Those details determine which path, if any, applies.

If the menu itself has changed, Epic’s documented in-game and web paths are useful starting points, but labels can change over time. Follow the current support guidance for the live interface. Do not infer that a missing button means Support can override a time limit or create a ticket; Epic’s stated limit on additional tickets still applies after the 24-hour window.
Tokenless refunds are a limited exception
Epic has a separate help page stating that certain cosmetic purchases may qualify for a tokenless refund in special circumstances. That is a limited possibility, not a general alternative to the 24-hour cancellation and Return Ticket rules. The guidance does not promise that any particular skin or request will qualify, so do not count on a tokenless return when deciding whether to spend a ticket.
In practical terms, it is worth knowing that this exception exists, but it should not be treated as a routine third return method available on demand. The stated information does not identify every qualifying circumstance or guarantee approval for a specific purchase. If a purchase does not meet the standard rules, do not assume a tokenless option will make it refundable.

How do I refund a Fortnite skin?

How many Fortnite Return Tickets do I get?
