If you are an eligible Starlink customer, open your signed-in Starlink app or web account, go to Referrals (the app may label it Refer Friend), and copy your personal link. Your friend must use that link to order a Starlink Kit directly from starlink.com, activate service in the same country, and keep an eligible high-speed plan active for the period shown in the current reward schedule. The reward amount, payment method, and exact maturity date are account- and country-specific, so the Referrals page is the final authority for your account.
What you need before sending a referral
Starlink makes referral availability and rewards dependent on location, account status, and plan type. Before you send anyone a link, sign in to your Starlink account and confirm that a Referrals or Refer Friend area is visible. The program operates in many places where Starlink service is offered, but it is not necessarily available to every account or market.
- An active Starlink account that displays the referral feature.
- A prospective customer who has never been a Starlink subscriber.
- A service address in the same country as your service address.
- A plan that Starlink identifies as eligible in your account.
- The ability to share the link only with people who have consented to receive the message.
Public help pages have used different plan lists and qualifying periods for different regions and dates. Treat the signed-in account and the current referral terms as more reliable than an old screenshot, forum post, or message from another country.

In the Starlink mobile app
- Open the Starlink app and sign in to the account that has eligible service.
- Open the main menu.
- Select the referrals icon or the option labeled Refer Friend.
- Review the reward shown for your account and the applicable program information.
- Tap the control to copy the link, or use the app’s share option to send it through an approved messaging channel.
The link is generated for your account. Do not substitute a generic Starlink homepage address or a link copied from another customer. If the app has recently changed its layout, look for the referrals icon or update the app before assuming the feature has been removed.

On the Starlink website
- Sign in to your Starlink account on the web.
- Open the Referrals section.
- Copy the unique referral URL displayed there.
- Use the page to view referral activity, service credits, and any reward details available to your account.
Starlink’s help guidance describes the web page as the place to see how many referrals have been made and how much service credit has been applied. If the section is missing, do not assume that creating another account will activate it; check local availability and contact Starlink support through the account instead.
How your friend must use the link
The prospective customer should open your unique link and complete a new Starlink Kit order directly through starlink.com. The current terms exclude purchases made through retail stores, unauthorized resellers, or a private transfer of an existing account or kit. A friend who buys hardware through another channel may be unable to connect the order to your referral.
- Send the link before your friend starts the order.
- Ask your friend to open the link and confirm that the referral information is still visible.
- Have the friend place the order while signed in to a new Starlink account, using the same country as your service address.
- Tell the friend to keep the referral confirmation and order email until the reward period is complete.
- Have the friend activate service at the qualifying address and keep the eligible plan active without interruption.
Do not send a link with instructions to bypass Starlink’s checkout, switch ownership privately, or combine it with a retail purchase. Those actions can prevent the referral from qualifying. If the friend is comparing plans, they should make that choice within the Starlink checkout connected to the referral rather than abandoning the referred flow and returning later through a different page.

Eligibility rules that determine whether a referral qualifies

| Account integrity | Starlink can withhold a reward while investigating suspected fraud, abuse, duplicate accounts, or other violations. |
Starlink makes the final eligibility decision. A person who previously cancelled service is not a “new” subscriber for this program, even if the person has not had an active account for a long time. Using a second email address, a different payment card, or a new service location does not erase prior subscription history.
Same-country eligibility concerns the service addresses used for the referral, not merely the country where the two people happen to live or communicate. Check the country shown in each account before the order is submitted. If either person is moving, confirm which address will be used for activation because changing details later may not cure an originally ineligible referral.
How much is the reward?
There is no universal dollar amount to quote. The current terms say the reward amount is specified in the customer’s Starlink account, is issued in local currency, and can vary by country. The amount displayed for you may therefore differ from an amount shown in another customer’s account or in an older help article. A social-media post promising a fixed amount is not a reliable substitute for your account’s offer.
Service credit
Service credit is the default reward form described in the current terms. Once issued, it is applied to the applicable Starlink account rather than paid as a general-purpose cash transfer. The Referrals section should show the credit value and how it has been applied. Compare the displayed credit with the amount and currency on your account; do not convert another country’s promotion and assume the converted figure is what you will receive.

Cash, where offered
Cash may be unavailable in some countries. Where it is offered, you may need to select the cash option in your account and complete the payment processor’s required steps. A payment processor may require account details or other verification before releasing funds. Do not treat a displayed credit amount as a guaranteed cash value unless your account explicitly provides that choice, and do not send payment information to a friend or third party claiming to process the referral.
Reward for the referred customer
The new customer may also receive a reward. Official help material describes cash or credit for the recipient in many countries, but the amount and form depend on location, plan, and the offer presented during checkout. Your friend’s checkout and account pages control the recipient’s benefit. The friend should capture the offer shown before completing the order so there is a record of what was presented.
When the reward is issued
The current referral terms’ Schedule A says the referred customer must complete two full monthly billing cycles before a pending referral matures. A regional Starlink help page similarly describes two months and says issuance can occur as soon as 60 days after activation. “As soon as” is not a promise that every account will be credited on that exact day; the qualifying billing history and account review still have to be complete.
Another official help article contains older or internally inconsistent wording, including a one-month qualifying period and a 31-day credit timeline. Those figures should not be used as a universal promise. For rule interpretation, use the current terms; for the actual date, use the pending referral and reward schedule shown in your account. If your account displays a different period, follow that account-specific schedule and keep a screenshot or email of it.
The two-cycle requirement is measured from the referred customer’s qualifying activation and billing history, not simply from the day you sent the link. A pause, downgrade to an ineligible plan, move to Standby Mode, cancellation, or other interruption can stop the referral from maturing. A pending status is therefore not the same as an approved reward: it indicates that Starlink is still waiting for the required subscription period or completing its checks.
How to track a referral and payment
- Sign in to the Starlink app or web account.
- Open Referrals on the web or Refer Friend in the app.
- Review the referral’s status, any pending reward, and service-credit history.
- Check the email address associated with your account. Starlink says it sends the referrer an email when a purchase is made through the link.
- After the qualifying period, check whether the reward has moved from pending to issued and whether it appears as service credit or an available cash option.
Save the order date, activation date, the country and service address used, and copies of relevant emails. These details help support staff investigate a missing referral without relying on memory. Ask your friend to retain the order confirmation as well, but do not request their password, payment-card number, or other account credentials.
If the referral is not visible after the friend orders, first verify that the order was completed through your unique URL and that the friend used a new account. Then check both accounts for country and plan eligibility. Contact support from the signed-in account with the referral link, order confirmation, dates, and screenshots; avoid posting personal account information in a public forum.

Why a referral may remain pending or fail
The link was not used at checkout
A friend may have opened your link but later returned to a normal Starlink checkout page. Ask the friend to confirm the referral was attached before payment. Starlink generally cannot be expected to reconstruct a referral from a copied URL after the order is complete.

The customer bought through another channel
Retail and unauthorized-reseller orders are excluded by the current terms. A private handoff of a kit or account also does not meet the direct-order requirement.
The customer had prior Starlink service
Previous subscription history disqualifies the person under the current new-subscriber rule. Creating a second email address does not change that history.
The addresses are in different countries
The current terms require the referrer and referred customer’s service addresses to be in the same country. Moving the service later does not erase the country used for eligibility.
The plan or service period is not qualifying
Plan names and eligibility can vary by market. Check the plan shown in the Referrals area and the current terms. A friend who changes to an ineligible plan, uses Standby Mode, or interrupts service before completing two full billing cycles may not generate a reward.

Starlink may delay or withhold a reward while checking suspected fraud or manipulation. Multiple accounts created to generate referrals, false claims of affiliation, or unusual referral activity can trigger review.
The program is unavailable for the account
Availability can change by country, account type, and date. If no Referrals section appears, use the support path inside the signed-in account. Do not rely on a referral page captured for a different region.

The friend changed details during the qualifying period
A plan change, service pause, move to Standby Mode, cancellation, or other interruption can break the continuous-service requirement. Before making a change, the friend should review the current account terms and the pending referral status; a change that is harmless for ordinary billing may still affect referral eligibility.
Communication and conduct rules
The terms place responsibility for outreach on the referrer. In their words: “The Referrer is solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining a record of consent before sending any commercial electronic message or otherwise contacting prospective Referred Subscribers.”

- Do not buy paid advertisements that target referral traffic if the terms prohibit that use.
- Do not pressure vulnerable people or disguise the commercial nature of the message.
- Do not create duplicate accounts, falsify addresses, or otherwise manipulate eligibility.
A simple consent-based message can state that you are sharing a personal Starlink referral link, explain that Starlink controls eligibility and the reward, and provide the link only after the recipient agrees to receive it. Keep a record of that consent. Sharing publicly can reach people who never asked for promotional messages and may create compliance problems even when the link itself is genuine.

The safest way to interpret changing Starlink terms
Referral amounts, qualifying plans, country coverage, and payout methods can change. Official help pages may also be localized or carry older wording. When pages disagree, apply the current full terms and the reward schedule attached to your account, then use the account’s displayed status and date as the operational guide. This approach avoids promising a fixed cash amount or a 31-day payout that may not apply to your market.
Recheck the account immediately before sharing the link and again after the friend orders. A promotion can end, a qualifying plan can change, or a cash option can be removed without changing the link’s appearance. The signed-in Referrals page, current terms, and Starlink email notifications together provide the clearest record of what your account can earn.
What not to buy or use for the referral
The referral requirement is about a qualifying direct Starlink order, not about finding a cheaper kit through a marketplace. Buying hardware from an unrelated retailer, using a private transfer, or directing the friend to an unauthorized reseller can make the order ineligible. Optional mounts, replacement parts, repair tools, and printed guides do not create a referral or substitute for the required Starlink Kit order. Keep the transaction inside the official Starlink checkout connected to your personal link.

How does my friend use a Starlink referral link?
Your friend should open the link before starting checkout, confirm that the referral is shown, create or use a new Starlink account, and complete the Kit order at starlink.com. Retail, unauthorized-reseller, and private-transfer orders do not qualify under the current terms.
