There is no single, proven “stutter fix” for ARC Raiders. First identify whether you have uneven frame delivery, a consistently low frame rate, a brief freeze, network hitching, or a visible character-animation problem. Then test only the settings relevant to that symptom. Embark’s published PC requirements are performance targets rather than guarantees, and its guidance does not establish a universally best sensitivity, DPI, polling rate, mouse, or graphics setting.

Start by naming the symptom

The word lag is often used for several unrelated problems. Watch what changes on screen and when it happens before changing hardware or settings.

What you see Most useful first question Initial path
Motion is generally slow and the frame-rate counter stays low Is the PC below, near, or above Embark’s published tier for the selected resolution and quality? Compare hardware with the requirements, then test lower rendering demand one change at a time.
The counter may be high, but motion arrives unevenly or pauses for a fraction of a second Does the hitch repeat in menus, in a match, or only during a particular effect? Record the location and timing, then isolate display and graphics changes rather than assuming the GPU is at fault.
Players or objects jump, actions arrive late, or your position snaps back Do other players appear to move erratically while your local camera remains smooth? Treat this as a possible network problem and compare several matches, not just one encounter.
Your revived character visibly jitters or stutters as an animation Is the behavior attached to the character state rather than the whole image? Check the update history and report a reproducible character issue; do not treat it as proof of PC rendering stutter.

A short recording with an on-screen frame-time or frame-rate graph can help you separate a rendering hitch from a network event. Note whether the symptom appears in menus, the firing range or equivalent practice area, and live matches; whether it affects every match; and whether it began immediately after an update. Those observations are more useful than a generic statement that the game “feels laggy.”

Check your platform before changing anything

ARC Raiders is available on PlayStation, Xbox and PC according to the official site. Embark’s CPU, memory and graphics-card tiers apply to the PC edition. They are not specifications for console hardware, and a PC troubleshooting step should not be presented as a console fix.

Console players

  • Record the console model, display resolution, refresh mode and whether the issue occurs in every game or only in ARC Raiders.
  • Separate a local visual hitch from online behavior: if the picture remains smooth while players teleport or shots register late, collect network evidence instead of changing graphics settings.
  • Check the game’s current console update notes and use the official support route when the behavior is repeatable, especially after a patch.

PC players

Write down your processor, graphics card, system memory, operating-system edition, monitor resolution and the quality preset you use. Compare that list with the published tiers below. A tier describes Embark’s stated target for that class of hardware; it is not a measured result for every machine with those parts.

Use Embark’s PC tiers as a reference, not a promise

The Embark Studios Help Center page titled “PC system requirements” was last updated October 1, 2025. Its targets are stated for Windows 10 or later, 64-bit.

Tier Processor Memory Graphics Stated target
Minimum Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen R5 1600 12 GB RAM NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti, AMD RX 580 or Intel Arc A380 Low graphics settings, 1080p, 60 fps
Recommended Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 16 GB RAM NVIDIA RTX 2070, AMD RX 5700 XT or Intel Arc B570 High graphics settings, 1440p, 60 fps
Epic Intel Core i7-9700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 16 GB RAM NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti or RTX 5070, or AMD RX 7900 XTX Epic graphics settings, resolution-scaling quality, 1440p, 90 fps

These figures tell you what Embark targets at each tier, not what your particular system will deliver. They do not prove that a graphics card, extra memory, an SSD, a driver, an overlay or a Windows change is the cause of your symptom. If your machine is below a tier, lower-demand settings are a sensible diagnostic experiment; if it meets a tier and still hitches, preserve your evidence rather than assuming a purchase is required.

1. Establish a repeatable baseline

  1. Restart the PC and launch ARC Raiders with the same resolution, quality preset and display mode you normally use.
  2. Play the same repeatable route or encounter for several minutes. Record average frame rate if available, but also note visible frame-time spikes and the exact moment they occur.
  3. Run the same test in a menu or non-match area. A hitch that exists before a match points toward a local rendering or installation condition; one that appears only online needs network comparison as well.
  4. Write down whether the problem started after a named game update, operating-system change or hardware change. Do not infer causation from timing alone, but preserve the date.

2. Compare demand before buying hardware

If the frame rate is persistently low, test a lower resolution or lower in-game quality preset and repeat the baseline. This is a diagnostic, not a guarantee: a large improvement suggests rendering demand is involved, while little change points you toward another bottleneck or an issue that is not ordinary GPU load. Keep the processor, memory and graphics card recorded so support can interpret the result.

3. Isolate one graphics or display variable

Change only one available option at a time—such as resolution, quality preset or a costly visual effect—then repeat the same route. Keep a simple table with the setting, test duration and result. If a change removes a hitch, test it again in a different match before treating it as a stable workaround. If it does nothing, restore the original value and test the next relevant option.

4. Test whether the symptom is frame pacing rather than average FPS

A high average can hide uneven delivery. Look for brief, repeatable frame-time spikes during camera turns, effects, loading transitions or specific locations. Record a clip that shows the graph and the visible hitch if possible. Do not describe this as “low FPS” unless the counter actually remains low; support needs the distinction.

5. Check for an update-linked regression

Use the official ARC Raiders update archive to see whether the behavior is already described. An onset immediately after a patch is useful information, but it does not establish that the patch caused every instance. Include the patch date or version in a support report and explain whether the symptom also occurs in menus or only during matches.

6. Escalate persistent faults through official support

When the same issue survives a controlled test, use Embark’s official support route. Steam also provides an “ARC Raiders – Gameplay or technical issue” support surface for the PC edition. Include:

  • Platform and, for PC, Windows edition, processor, graphics card and installed RAM.
  • Resolution, refresh rate, quality preset and any resolution-scaling setting you changed.
  • Whether the symptom is low FPS, uneven frame pacing, a freeze, network hitching or animation jitter.
  • Where it occurs (menu, match, revival, a particular effect), how often, and whether every player in the session is affected.
  • The first date or update after which you noticed it, plus a short video or reproducible sequence when available.

Official requirements and update notices do not establish a universal stutter fix. A support report with a reproducible pattern is more valuable than a list of unrelated tweaks.

How to tell rendering stutter from network hitching

Signs that point toward local rendering

  • The camera and your own weapon animation pause or judder while menus and local effects show the same unevenness.
  • A frame-time graph spikes at the moment of the visible pause.
  • Lowering rendering demand changes the frequency or severity of the hitch.

Signs that point toward the connection or session

  • Other players teleport, stop and then catch up, or actions register late while your camera motion stays smooth.
  • The problem varies sharply between matches or disappears when the session changes.
  • Lowering graphics quality has no effect on the event.

These signs are clues, not a diagnosis. A busy match can expose both problems at once. Compare several sessions, note whether teammates see the same behavior, and report the pattern rather than calling every delay a stutter.

Do not confuse a character-animation bug with PC stutter

An official ARC Raiders update archive has used the wording “stutter / jitter” for the player character after revival. In that context, the words describe a character behavior issue. They do not demonstrate that the renderer is dropping frames on every PC.

If the jitter begins specifically after revival, follows the character model, and does not affect menus or the entire camera, capture the sequence and check the update archive. Report the platform, match circumstances and whether it persists after another revival. Do not buy a mouse or change graphics hardware to address an animation bug unless support identifies a separate rendering problem.

Build a stable aim baseline

Aim consistency is partly mechanical and partly perceptual. The official material reviewed for ARC Raiders does not publish a universal sensitivity, DPI, polling rate or mouse model, and it provides no controlled result showing that buying a particular mouse improves aim. Start with repeatability rather than a supposedly perfect number.

Lock the variables you already use

  1. Choose one sensitivity and keep it unchanged for a full practice session and several matches.
  2. Record the mouse DPI or controller sensitivity, aiming or zoom multipliers, field-of-view value and any acceleration setting that your platform exposes.
  3. Keep the same resolution, frame-rate limit or display mode during the comparison. Aiming by feel is difficult when visual timing changes at the same time.
  4. Use the same grip, seating position and surface. Comfort and range of motion affect repeatability even when the numerical settings are identical.

Change one input variable at a time

If your crosshair repeatedly overshoots, undershoots or feels inconsistent, make a small change to one variable, then repeat the same drill. Do not change sensitivity, DPI and polling rate together. Keep the original value available so you can return to it when the change makes tracking worse.

Evaluate a setting over enough repetitions to notice a pattern rather than judging one fight. Record whether your stops, target transitions and recoil corrections feel more repeatable. This is a general troubleshooting method, not an Embark recommendation or a claim that one setting is optimal for everyone.

Keep frame delivery stable while evaluating aim

Do not tune aim during a session in which the image is visibly hitching. Uneven frame delivery changes the timing between hand movement and the picture you see, which can make a comfortable sensitivity feel wrong. First use the rendering and network tests above to establish a stable baseline; then compare input settings under the same conditions.

Mouse choice is optional, not a stutter remedy

A gaming mouse can be a reasonable PC input option if its shape, weight and buttons suit your hand, but comfort and fit are personal. No cited official test shows that purchasing one improves aim in ARC Raiders, and a mouse cannot correct a frame-time hitch or a network problem. Treat a purchase as an ergonomics decision, not as a technical fix.

Controller and console considerations

Console players can apply the same one-variable method to stick sensitivity, aim multipliers and response options exposed by the game. Keep the display mode and other controls unchanged while testing. Because Embark’s published hardware tiers are PC-only, do not use them to judge console performance.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A practical comparison framework

When deciding which test to run next, compare the four facts that narrow the possibilities without pretending to prove a cause:

Axis What to record How it guides the next test
Symptom type Low average FPS, uneven delivery, brief freeze, network hitch or character animation jitter Choose rendering, connection or bug-focused evidence instead of mixing fixes.
Platform PC, PlayStation or Xbox Use PC tier comparisons only for PC; use console-specific support information for consoles.
Hardware relative to tier PC processor, RAM and graphics card compared with minimum, recommended or Epic Set realistic test expectations; a tier remains a target, not a guarantee.
Update relationship Whether onset tracks a particular patch Check update notes and include the version in a support report.

For input experiments, use repeatability and personal comfort as the comparison axes. A setting that produces steadier stops for you is useful evidence about your setup, not a universal prescription.

Common troubleshooting mistakes

  • Calling every delay “stutter.” A low frame rate, a frame-time spike, a network correction and an animation bug require different evidence.
  • Applying PC advice to a console. The published CPU, RAM and GPU tiers do not describe PlayStation or Xbox behavior.
  • Changing five settings at once. You lose the ability to identify a helpful or harmful change.
  • Reading a target as a guarantee. “Low, 1080p, 60 fps,” “High, 1440p, 60 fps” and “Epic, 1440p, 90 fps” are Embark’s stated targets for their tiers, not outcome statistics for every system.
  • Buying a peripheral to solve rendering or networking. No official source establishes a mouse purchase as a stutter fix or a universal aim improvement.
  • Assuming an update is the cause without checking scope. A patch-linked onset is worth reporting, but reproduce the symptom in menus and matches before drawing a conclusion.
  • Stopping after one match. Network conditions and match events vary. Repeat the same test and document the result.

When to stop experimenting and report the problem

Use official support when the symptom is repeatable, survives a controlled baseline, affects normal play despite hardware meeting a published tier, or resembles the revival-related character jitter described in the update archive. Include your platform, PC specifications where relevant, settings, symptom classification, onset date or patch, reproduction steps and video evidence. That information lets the support team distinguish a system-specific performance issue from a broader game defect and prevents aim experiments from obscuring the original problem.
