To reduce input delay in Counter-Strike 2, first confirm you mean delayed mouse or keyboard response—not high server ping—then measure a repeatable baseline. Enable the supported in-game latency feature for your GPU, check the display’s refresh rate, and test synchronization choices one at a time. Buy hardware only if your measurements point to a specific bottleneck.

First identify what kind of “lag” you mean

Input delay, often called input lag, is the time between an action and its appearance on screen. NVIDIA’s CS2 Reflex guide describes system latency as spanning input devices, PC processing and rendering, and the display. Network latency—the time it takes to communicate with a game server—is separate, so a high ping reading does not by itself show that your mouse response is slow.

  • Peripheral latency: time for mouse or keyboard input to reach the PC.
  • Game and render latency: time spent processing the input and rendering a frame.
  • Display latency: time before the frame appears on the panel; refresh rate is one factor.
  • Network latency: communication time with the server, distinct from input-to-screen delay.

If your aim feels delayed, investigate system latency. If movement and shooting feel responsive but players or actions appear to update late online, investigate the network connection instead.

Measure a baseline before changing settings

Use the same practice scenario or benchmark before and after each change. This makes it easier to tell whether a setting helped, and avoids attributing a match-to-match difference to a tweak. Change one setting at a time and note both latency and how the game feels.

  1. When available on a compatible GeForce setup, use the GeForce Experience performance overlay or NVIDIA FrameView to view CS2 PC-latency information. NVIDIA says its overlay can be enabled and opened with Alt+R.
  2. If you have a display equipped with Reflex Analyzer, it can provide broader end-to-end readings, including mouse and display latency.
  3. Record the same repeatable scenario before and after a change. Do not judge a setting from one isolated match or from ping alone.

Not every system exposes the same measurement tools. If you cannot read system latency directly, a controlled comparison in the same scenario is more useful than changing several settings and relying on memory.

Enable the latency feature your GPU supports

Compatible GeForce systems: NVIDIA Reflex

For a compatible GeForce GPU, NVIDIA’s CS2 instructions give this path: Settings > Video > Advanced Video > NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency > Enabled. Menu labels and availability can depend on the current game and hardware.

NVIDIA reported up to 35% lower system latency with Reflex in CS2. That is a vendor result, not a promise for every PC, workload, or player. NVIDIA also offers Enabled + Boost, which can reduce latency further but uses more power and may lower frame rate slightly. Consider Boost only if minimum latency matters more to you than maximizing frame rate; compare it against plain Enabled in the same scenario.

Supported Radeon systems: AMD Anti-Lag 2

AMD’s Adrenalin 24.5.1 technical-preview release notes list Anti-Lag 2 support for CS2 and say the feature is enabled by default under Advanced Video. AMD describes it as in-game CPU/GPU pacing, with particular relevance to GPU-intensive situations. Check current driver notes and hardware support: those details are tied to a specific preview release, not a guarantee that every Radeon system or later driver has identical availability.

AMD reported up to an average 37% latency decrease in its specified tests, using the CS2 Ancient benchmark, DirectX 11, Very High graphics, and resolutions from 1080p to 4K. The listed systems were RX 7900 GRE, RX 7800 XT, RX 7600 XT, RX 7700S, and Ryzen 7 8700G integrated Radeon 780M, with the 24.5.1 technical-preview driver. AMD notes that configurations vary; this result should not be treated as a forecast for another setup.

Choose fullscreen and synchronization for your priorities

NVIDIA’s system-latency guide recommends fullscreen and generally turning VSync off when tearing is acceptable. That can suit players who prioritize low latency and do not mind visible screen tearing. The guide dates from 2020, so treat it as guidance rather than a guarantee about every current CS2 and Windows setup.

If you want to avoid tearing and have a compatible variable-refresh display, NVIDIA describes using G-SYNC with VSync and Reflex. Its guidance says this can keep latency low when the GPU is bound below the display’s refresh rate, but it has slightly higher latency than uncapped FPS with Reflex. These are different trade-offs, not a universal best setting. Test your preferred option in the same scene and keep it only if the visual result and response feel right to you.

Check the refresh rate you already own

A monitor may support a higher refresh rate than the setting currently selected. NVIDIA’s CS2 guide says increasing display refresh is generally one of the best ways to reduce display latency, and that the PC ideally delivers a corresponding frame rate.

Before considering a new monitor, verify that your operating system and game are using the panel’s intended refresh rate, then check whether your system can sustain a corresponding frame rate in the situations that matter to you. A monitor’s advertised maximum refresh rate alone does not establish what your PC will deliver in play.

Consider hardware only after locating a bottleneck

NVIDIA identifies a lower-latency mouse, a higher-refresh monitor, and a faster CPU or GPU as possible ways to address system latency. These are conditional options, not guaranteed upgrades. Use available Game and Render latency readings to decide which component, if any, deserves attention.

  • High Game latency: NVIDIA suggests considering a faster CPU. Verify that the CPU is the limitation before spending.
  • High Render latency: NVIDIA suggests considering a faster GeForce RTX GPU. Check the rest of the system and the workload as well.
  • Display limitation: First make sure your current panel is set to its intended refresh rate. A higher-refresh display is a possible upgrade if the present one is the constraint and your PC can deliver the needed frame rate.
  • Peripheral limitation: A lower-latency mouse may be worth considering if measurements or a controlled comparison point to the input device. Higher DPI by itself does not mean lower mouse latency.

For any purchase, weigh compatibility, budget, and the measured limitation. Do not expect a specific reduction without testing that hardware in your own setup.
