If a PS4 or PS5 game has disappeared from the PlayStation Store, start with the PlayStation account that bought it. A delisted Store page does not automatically cancel a valid purchase. Open Game Library, check hidden games and transaction history, confirm whether access comes from PlayStation Plus or another user, then restore the console’s license. If the title still cannot be downloaded, work through download troubleshooting and contact PlayStation Support with the relevant error details.
What a disappeared Store listing actually means
A game can stop appearing in Store search while the purchasing account still retains its digital entitlement. The Store page and the license are related, but they are not the same record. For that reason, searching for the title as if you were buying it again is not the first recovery step. Use the account and library that hold the entitlement.
The correct fix depends on how the console obtained access. A purchase made by your account, a PlayStation Plus entitlement, and access shared by another account can look similar on the Home screen but have different failure causes.

A license restoration can repair an entitlement that the console is failing to display, including a padlock or a missing-download problem. It cannot create ownership for an account that never bought the game, and it cannot extend a PlayStation Plus benefit that has expired or left the relevant catalogue.

Identify the account and access type before changing anything
Use the purchasing account
Sign out of any account that is not the buyer, then sign in to the PlayStation account used when the game was purchased. If several family members use the console, this is the most common reason a previously available game seems to vanish: the console is displaying the library for a different account.
When you are unsure which account paid for the title, open that account’s transaction history. The transaction is the clearest ownership check. A game that is absent from the Store but present in the buyer’s transaction history should be recovered through that account’s library and license tools, not purchased again.
Separate a purchase from PlayStation Plus access
Some games were claimed through a PlayStation Plus monthly benefit or accessed from a PlayStation Plus catalogue rather than bought outright. Confirm that the subscription is active. Also confirm that the particular title is still available under the benefit or catalogue that granted access. A subscription ending, a catalogue change, or a different account being signed in can remove access without indicating a fault with the console.
Check shared access
If another user bought the game, verify the sharing arrangement on the console. On PS5, the owner should have Console Sharing and Offline Play enabled for the console being used. On PS4, the owner’s account needs the console activated as its primary PS4. Without the applicable setting, another local user can see a padlock or lose the ability to start a game even though the owner still has a valid entitlement.

Find the game in Game Library
Games purchased from PlayStation Store are displayed in Game Library. Check the library while signed in to the account that owns the entitlement, rather than relying on the Store search result.
- Open Game Library from the console’s game area.
- Review the collection for the missing title and select it if it appears.
- If it is not visible, open the library’s hidden-games view and check whether the title was deliberately hidden.
- Unhide the game if necessary, then return to the normal library and select the title to start its download.
- If the game is still absent, compare the signed-in account with the account shown in transaction history.
Hidden games are hidden in the libraries of all consoles associated with the account. Hiding is therefore different from a Store delisting: the game may be owned and still recoverable, but it will not appear in the ordinary library list until it is shown again.
When the title appears but will not download
An entry in Game Library confirms that the console can see an entitlement or access record, but it does not guarantee that the current download request will complete. Select the game, start the download, and note any error code. If the download stalls or fails, cancel the queued attempt and start it again. A fresh request can clear a transient queue or connection failure without changing the license.

Restoring licenses forces the PS5 to recheck the account’s content rights. Use the full system path when the game is missing, shows a padlock, or appears unavailable despite a confirmed purchase:

- Open Settings.
- Select Users and Accounts.
- Choose Other.
- Select Restore Licenses.
- Follow the confirmation prompt and wait for the operation to finish.
There is also a shortcut for a specific title. Highlight the game in Home or Game Library, press the Options button, and choose Restore License. After the process completes, return to the title and try the download again.
PlayStation states: “Please note, restoring licenses won’t affect your data.” The operation is intended to refresh entitlement information; it does not erase saved games or installed content.
Restore the license on PS4
The PS4 menu uses a different path:
- Open Settings.
- Select Account Management.
- Choose Restore Licenses.
- Select Restore and allow the process to complete.
Afterward, open Game Library, select the game, and retry the download. If the title is shared from another account, perform the license check while signed in to the purchasing account and verify that account’s primary-PS4 activation. Restoring a license while signed in to a non-owning account cannot turn that account into the owner.

Retry the download and clear ordinary failures
Once the account and license are correct, deal with the download itself. Work through these checks in order so that an infrastructure problem is not mistaken for an ownership problem.

Check PlayStation service status
A Store or download service interruption can prevent a valid entitlement from being delivered. Check PlayStation’s current service-status information before repeatedly changing account settings. If services are impaired, wait until they recover and retry the download.
Install the latest system software
Update the PS4 or PS5 system software to the latest version offered by the console. A system that is behind on updates can have library, Store, or license-communication problems. Restart the console after the update, sign in to the purchasing account, and try Game Library again.
Cancel and restart a failed download
For a title that appears in the library but remains stuck, cancel the failed or paused download and start it again from the game’s library page. Record the displayed error code before canceling; that code may be needed if the problem persists. Avoid deleting saved data while troubleshooting a license issue.

If the console’s library or content list appears inconsistent after the account, license, service, and software checks, use Safe Mode’s database-rebuild option. Follow the Safe Mode instructions shown by the console and select the database-rebuild command, not an option that initializes or resets the system. Database rebuilding is a library-maintenance step; initialization is a destructive reset and is not the remedy for a missing digital license.

Diagnose the most common symptoms

What license restoration can and cannot fix
It can refresh a valid entitlement
License restoration is appropriate when a purchased game is missing from the expected library, when a title has a padlock despite valid ownership, or when the console appears to have lost track of an entitlement after an account or system change. It makes the console check the rights associated with the signed-in account again.
It cannot create a purchase
If the account has no transaction for the game, restoring licenses cannot manufacture ownership. Check every PlayStation account used by the household, but do not assume that a vanished Store listing proves a purchase existed. If no account’s transaction history shows the purchase, the issue is an account or ownership question for PlayStation Support.
It cannot revive an expired PlayStation Plus benefit
A PlayStation Plus game remains usable only while the required subscription and catalogue or benefit conditions continue to apply. License restoration does not renew a lapsed subscription or return a title that is no longer included in the applicable catalogue.

Escalate after you have checked the purchasing account, transaction history, hidden games, access type, sharing settings, license restoration, service status, system software, and download retry. Support can investigate an entitlement that is present in transaction history but still unavailable to the owner.
Prepare a concise record before opening the support request:
- The PlayStation account used for the purchase or the account that supplied shared access.
- The console model, PS4 or PS5, and the system-software state.
- The game’s exact name and whether it was purchased, obtained through PlayStation Plus, or shared.
- Any error code shown during library access or download.
- The precise steps that reproduce the problem, such as opening Game Library, selecting the title, and receiving a padlock or download failure.
- The timestamp of an access attempt, including your time zone if relevant.
Include the timestamp even if the problem is intermittent. It gives support a concrete event to correlate with account and service records. Explain what you already tried rather than repeating only that the Store listing disappeared.
A concise recovery checklist
- Sign in to the account that bought the game, or to the account that owns the PlayStation Plus or sharing entitlement.
- Check transaction history when ownership is uncertain.
- Open Game Library and inspect hidden games.
- For PlayStation Plus, verify the subscription and continued catalogue or benefit availability.
- For shared access, verify PS5 Console Sharing and Offline Play or PS4 primary-console activation.
- Restore licenses using the correct PS5 or PS4 menu path.
- Retry the download, checking PlayStation service status and system software first if it fails.
- Use Safe Mode database rebuild only when the library or database remains inconsistent.
- Contact PlayStation Support with error codes, reproduction steps, and the access-attempt timestamp if the entitlement still cannot be used.
The key distinction is between a missing Store listing and a missing entitlement. A delisted page can coexist with a usable purchase, while an absent transaction, expired PlayStation Plus access, or disabled sharing arrangement requires a different remedy. Follow the account-specific path first, then repair the console’s license and download state.
