The correct redemption path depends on what you received: a normal PlayStation or Microsoft Store voucher, or Rockstar’s current promotional GTA+ month bundled with a qualifying digital Grand Theft Auto VI preorder. A standard code is entered through the platform’s code-redemption screen. The preorder promotion is claimed from a GTA+ product page on PlayStation or from Microsoft Store > Offers & Credits on Xbox.
Before entering anything, sign in to the PlayStation or Microsoft account that should own the membership. GTA+ benefits require the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S version of GTA V/GTA Online; PS4, Xbox One and PC Legacy versions do not qualify, including when played through backward compatibility.
Identify your GTA+ code or promotion first
“GTA+ code” can describe two different things. Treating one as the other is the most common reason the expected redemption screen does not appear.
Standard platform voucher
A normal PlayStation voucher is a 12-digit code that adds store credit or delivers specified content to the account that redeems it. Microsoft also supports account-based gift cards, download codes and tokens. These codes use the platform’s general redemption tools; they are not automatically the same as Rockstar’s promotional GTA+ claim.

A store gift card is not a GTA+ membership code. It only adds payment balance, which you could potentially use toward a subscription, and it does not itself activate GTA+ benefits. If someone sent you a code by email, on a receipt or on a card, check the product description before trying to redeem it. It may be a wallet top-up, a game download, an add-on or a promotional entitlement rather than a membership.
Rockstar’s current one-month preorder offer
Rockstar currently documents one free month for purchasers of the digital Standard or Ultimate Edition of Grand Theft Auto VI. The qualifying purchase must be made before November 20, 2026. The offer is claimed from the platform store, is limited to one redemption per platform account and is not described as a general-purpose GTA+ subscription code that can be entered anywhere.
For a PlayStation Store purchase, Rockstar directs you to the GTA+ product page after purchase and requires redemption by March 31, 2027. For a Microsoft Store purchase, Rockstar directs you to Offers & Credits and requires redemption within 180 days after the qualifying purchase. The PlayStation Store listing states that the offer ends November 19, 2026 and is restricted to the account used to preorder; use Rockstar’s purchase qualification of “prior to November 20, 2026” when checking eligibility.
The two dates describe different things. November 20, 2026 is the latest qualifying-purchase cutoff stated by Rockstar, while March 31, 2027 is the PlayStation claim deadline. Xbox uses a rolling 180-day period measured from the qualifying Microsoft Store purchase. Do not assume that a PlayStation deadline automatically applies to Xbox, or that a regular store voucher follows either promotional deadline.
Before you redeem: a five-point checklist
- Identify the product. Decide whether you have a 12-digit PlayStation voucher, an ordinary Microsoft code or the GTAVI preorder entitlement.
- Choose the permanent account. Sign in to the account that should keep the funds, content or membership. A redeemed entitlement generally cannot be moved to a different account.
- Confirm the platform. PlayStation benefits belong to the PlayStation account and Xbox benefits belong to the Microsoft account used on Xbox. The promotional offer is tied to the account that made the qualifying digital purchase.
- Check the game edition. GTA+ benefits require the native PS5 or Xbox Series X|S edition of GTA V/GTA Online, not a PS4, Xbox One or PC Legacy copy.
- Note the deadline and renewal. Record the applicable claim cutoff, and read the renewal notice before accepting a free month.
Taking a screenshot of the order confirmation and offer screen can help if the entitlement does not appear. Keep the confirmation associated with the purchasing account rather than forwarding the code or signing into a different family member’s profile.
How to redeem a GTA+ code on PS5
Use the following procedure for a normal 12-digit PlayStation voucher. If you have the GTAVI preorder promotion instead, use the separate product-page procedure below.
- Sign in to the PS5 account that should receive the membership, credit or content. Sony applies the result to the account that redeems the voucher, and it cannot be transferred to another account.
- Open PlayStation Store from the PS5 home screen.
- Press Triangle to open the store menu.
- Select More, then Redeem Code.
- Enter the voucher’s 12 digits and select Redeem.
- Follow any confirmation prompts. If the code represents a subscription or content entitlement, check that it appears on the same account before closing the screen.
Enter the digits exactly as shown. If the code is printed, distinguish similar characters and avoid adding spaces or punctuation that are not part of the code. A normal PlayStation voucher is consumed once, so do not test it on a secondary account simply to see whether it works.

You can also redeem online from the PlayStation Store profile menu, or during checkout by choosing Redeem Codes and Gift Cards. The account, region and one-time-use restrictions still apply regardless of which interface you use. Online redemption can be useful when the console is updating, but it does not change which account receives the entitlement.
Redeeming the GTAVI preorder month on PlayStation
- Confirm that the digital Standard or Ultimate Edition was purchased before November 20, 2026 on the PlayStation account you are using.
- Open the GTA+ product page in PlayStation Store after the purchase.
- Choose the offer’s redemption option and complete the on-screen confirmation while signed in to the preorder account.
- Redeem no later than March 31, 2027. Rockstar limits the promotion to one redemption per platform account.
There may be no conventional 12-digit token to type for this promotion. The entitlement is surfaced through the product page associated with the purchase. If the product page only shows a normal subscription purchase, verify that you are using the preorder account and that the digital edition and purchase date qualify.
Existing GTA+ members follow the same steps. Rockstar says the additional month extends the next billing date rather than creating a second concurrent membership. In practical terms, the account remains subscribed, and the next charge is pushed back by one month.
Where do I enter a GTA+ code on Xbox?
For an ordinary Microsoft or Xbox code, use Microsoft’s general redemption flow:

- Open the Microsoft redemption page or the console’s Redeem code command.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account associated with the Xbox profile that should receive the entitlement.
- Enter or paste the code.
- Confirm the account and accept the redemption.
Microsoft’s general tool covers gift cards, download codes and tokens. It does not replace Rockstar’s special path for the current GTAVI preorder offer. A code that grants wallet balance will appear as account credit, while a download code or entitlement may attach to the account’s library. Neither result should be mistaken for a GTA+ promotion unless the offer description says so.
Redeeming the GTAVI preorder month on Xbox
- Verify that you bought the digital Standard or Ultimate Edition through Microsoft Store before November 20, 2026.
- On the account that made that purchase, open Microsoft Store.
- Go to Offers & Credits.
- Locate the GTA+ month attached to the preorder and select the redemption command.
- Complete the confirmation within 180 days of the qualifying purchase.
If you are looking at a normal code, do not expect it to appear under Offers & Credits. If you are claiming the preorder promotion, do not treat it as a generic token and enter it in a random code field. The offer is generated from the qualifying purchase, so signing into another Microsoft account can make the option disappear even if that account is on the same console.

The most important difference is not the console hardware but the claim location. A standard PlayStation voucher and a standard Microsoft code use their platform’s generic redemption utility. The GTAVI promotion is an account-linked offer: PlayStation exposes it on the GTA+ product page, while Microsoft exposes it under Offers & Credits.

Eligibility and account checks
Current-generation game version
GTA+ benefits require the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S version of GTA V/GTA Online. Installing or launching a PS4 or Xbox One edition on newer hardware through backward compatibility does not satisfy that requirement. PC Legacy editions are also excluded.
This requirement affects access to the benefits, not merely where you redeem. A successful account redemption does not convert an older game edition into the current-generation version. If GTA+ appears active but in-game benefits are unavailable, first check which version of GTA Online you launched.
Correct account and region
Redeem on the account intended to keep the membership. Sony’s voucher rules say a code must match the account’s region, can be used only once and cannot be transferred with its funds or content. A subscription voucher may also require a valid payment method. These are PlayStation rules; do not assume every Microsoft promotion has identical region or payment requirements.
For Rockstar’s preorder month, the key account test is whether the digital purchase and redemption are tied to the same platform account. The offer is one redemption per platform account. Family sharing or console sharing does not make the offer transferable: the account that claims it remains the account associated with the membership.
Digital versus physical purchases
The documented preorder qualification is for the digital Standard or Ultimate Edition purchased through the applicable platform store. A physical purchase, a different edition or an unrelated GTA product should not be assumed to include this month. Check the order description and platform receipt before contacting support.

What happens after the free month
The promotional month is not a permanently free membership. Rockstar states: “After the month, Memberships auto-renew monthly at the regular monthly price until canceled.” Review the renewal terms shown during redemption and keep a payment method available if you want uninterrupted service.
The offer documentation establishes recurring billing but not a stable price for both platforms. The amount shown on your own PlayStation or Microsoft confirmation screen is the one to review; prices and currency can vary by storefront and account region. Do not rely on an old screenshot or a price quoted for another country.

Cancel through the subscription-management service for the platform on which you joined. Console members manage their memberships through PlayStation or Xbox subscription settings rather than by deleting the game. Canceling the game, removing the console profile or turning off the console does not cancel billing. If you already subscribe, Rockstar says the redeemed month extends your next billing date by one month.
If you intend to keep GTA+, confirm that the payment method is valid and that the account can be charged after the promotional period. If you do not intend to continue, note the next billing date immediately after redemption and cancel through the platform subscription controls before that date.

Check these items in order before trying the code repeatedly:
- Format: A standard PlayStation voucher should contain 12 digits. A promotion may not have a conventional voucher code at all.
- Region: Confirm that the voucher’s country or region matches the PlayStation account.
- Account: Make sure you are signed in to the account that should receive the content. Sony does not transfer redeemed funds or content between accounts.
- Previous use: A voucher is single-use. Check the account’s transaction details to see whether it was already redeemed.
- Offer type: If you bought the qualifying GTAVI edition, return to the GTA+ product page instead of entering the promotion as a 12-digit code.
- Subscription requirements: Some subscription vouchers require a valid payment method even when the initial period is promotional.
If the code was accepted but the membership or content is missing, restart the console and sign out and back in with the account that redeemed it. Then check the account’s transaction history and subscription area. Launch the PS5 version of GTA Online, not the PS4 version, when checking whether GTA+ benefits are available.
If the voucher still fails, keep the receipt or delivery email and record the exact error message. Support can use the transaction details to determine whether the code was already consumed, issued for another region or attached to a different product.
Fix an Xbox code or preorder offer that does not work
For a normal Microsoft code
- Sign in with the Microsoft account linked to the intended console profile.
- Confirm that the code has not already been redeemed and that you are using Microsoft’s Redeem code flow.
- Check that the code is for the correct account region and product type.
- Use Microsoft’s redemption troubleshooter if the code continues to fail.
For the GTAVI preorder month
- Confirm that the purchase was the digital Standard or Ultimate Edition, not an unrelated product or a physical purchase.
- Confirm the purchase date was before November 20, 2026.
- Use Microsoft Store > Offers & Credits, not the ordinary code-entry screen.
- Check that fewer than 180 days have passed since the qualifying purchase.
- Use the same Microsoft account that made the purchase; the promotion is limited to one redemption per platform account.
- Check the Microsoft order history for the qualifying transaction and make sure the order was completed rather than canceled or refunded.
If the offer still is not listed after those checks, retain the order confirmation and contact Rockstar or platform support from the purchasing account. Do not buy a store gift card as a substitute: a gift card adds payment balance and is not a GTA+ subscription entitlement.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Using the wrong flow: A standard voucher belongs in the platform code tool; the preorder month belongs on the GTA+ product page or in Offers & Credits.
- Redeeming on a secondary account: Entitlements stay with the account that claims them.
- Assuming backward compatibility qualifies: GTA+ requires the native PS5 or Xbox Series X|S game version.
- Waiting past the deadline: PlayStation redemption ends March 31, 2027; Microsoft redemption ends 180 days after the qualifying purchase.
- Forgetting auto-renewal: The free month changes the next billing date but does not disable recurring billing.
