To recruit every Chapter 2 entry in DELTARUNE, spare or pacify the required number of each recruitable enemy type instead of defeating it with FIGHT. Chapter 2 has ten entries, and each has its own tally. Check the RECRUITS menu at Dark World Save Points to see which types are complete and how many successful recruits remain.
The word “character” needs a small clarification: the RECRUIT system tracks standard enemies and special encounters, not every story character or boss. Story characters can join Castle Town through their own events. This guide covers all ten enemy types shown in the Chapter 2 recruit list, including Tasque Manager and Mauswheel.
How the Chapter 2 recruit system works
Recruitment begins in Chapter 2. The official Gameplay Reminder Cheat Sheet states: “Starting from Chapter 2, SPARING or PACIFYING enemies RECRUITS them.” In practice, you must finish the encounter without a violent defeat and then use the appropriate nonviolent result.

Use the enemy’s ACT options, party commands or other encounter-specific actions to make it SPARE-ready. Once the enemy can be spared, choose SPARE rather than FIGHT. The exact ACT sequence differs by enemy, so read the battle text and watch for the spare-ready state instead of assuming one command works for every type.

Use Ralsei’s PACIFY when the enemy is TIRED
Ralsei can use PACIFY on an enemy that is marked TIRED. Pacifying that enemy counts as the nonviolent recruitment result. If the encounter leaves the enemy spare-able rather than TIRED, use SPARE instead.
Why FIGHT can permanently cost a recruit
A recruitable enemy defeated with FIGHT becomes LOST. A LOST entry cannot be recruited later during that completion attempt. This is the central trade-off in Chapter 2: violent victories increase party stats for the rest of the chapter, according to the official reminder, but they also remove that enemy’s eligibility for recruitment.
If you accidentally defeat an eligible enemy, the dependable recovery is to reload a save from before that encounter and resolve it nonviolently. If no earlier save exists, treat that enemy type as unavailable for the current run rather than expecting a later battle to restore it.

Recruitment is counted separately by enemy type. Completing the total number of successful encounters overall is not enough; each row below must reach its own requirement.

These are the individual thresholds listed in the Deltarune Wiki’s recruit reference. The Save Point counter is the authoritative progress check while you play: it records what the game has accepted, rather than what you think you completed.
A reliable step-by-step recruitment workflow
1. Decide on a nonviolent completion run
Before entering Chapter 2 encounters, decide whether the priority is a complete recruit list or the stat increase from violent victories. You can choose a mixed play style, but any recruitable enemy defeated by FIGHT is marked LOST, so a single violent decision can prevent a full list in that file.

2. Resolve each eligible encounter without FIGHT
- Identify the enemy type in the battle interface.
- Use ACT commands until the enemy is ready to spare, or create the TIRED state needed for Ralsei’s PACIFY.
- Select SPARE or PACIFY and let the encounter end.
- Continue until the type’s tally reaches the number shown in the table.
Do not assume that seeing an enemy once completes its entry. Ambyu-Lance, for example, requires four successful recruits, while Werewerewire, Tasque Manager and Mauswheel each require one.
3. Verify at a Dark World Save Point
Open the RECRUITS menu whenever you reach a Dark World Save Point. Completed entries are shown as finished, and types for which recruitment has started display the number of successful spares still needed. This check catches partial progress and prevents the common mistake of treating one successful spare as completion for every type.
4. Check before leaving the chapter’s recruitment opportunities
Near the end of Queen’s Mansion, Trashy appears when eligible enemies remain unrecruited and advises you to check. If all recruitable enemies are complete, Trashy is absent. Use this as a late warning, not as a replacement for checking the RECRUITS menu: the Save Point menu gives the type-by-type state, while Trashy only signals that an eligible recruit is still missing.
How to interpret the ten-entry list
Regular entries with several required recruits
Most of the list consists of enemy types that require multiple successful encounters: Ambyu-Lance, Poppup, Tasque, Werewire, Maus, Virovirokun and Swatchling. Their counters are independent. Recruiting five Tasques does not reduce the six Werewire recruits you still need, and recruiting every high-count type does not complete a special one-count entry.
Special one-count entries
Werewerewire, Tasque Manager and Mauswheel each require one successful recruitment. Their low thresholds make them easy to overlook: a player may finish the larger counters and still miss one of these entries. Treat each as a separate checkbox in the RECRUITS menu.
Mauswheel and the “all recruits” wording
Mauswheel is the important exception when interpreting completion language. The Music Room unlock does not require Mauswheel, but the Party Dojo’s “Ch2 All Stars” challenge does. When a requirement says all ten Chapter 2 entries, Mauswheel is included.

What full recruitment unlocks in Castle Town
Recruiting enemies makes Castle Town more lively and can unlock activities. The official reminder describes this effect generally; the detailed Chapter 2 recruit reference identifies the following changes.
Music Room
The Music Room opens when every Chapter 2 enemy except Mauswheel has been recruited. You therefore need the other nine entries complete, but Mauswheel may still be missing when this specific room becomes available.
Party Dojo: “Ch2 All Stars”
The Party Dojo’s Ch2 All Stars activity requires all ten Chapter 2 entries, including Mauswheel. If the dojo challenge is your goal, do not stop after opening the Music Room.

Seam’s item change
Seam sells CD Bagels instead of Dark Candy when at least nine enemies have been recruited. This threshold is different from the ten-entry requirement for Ch2 All Stars, so the item change can occur before the full list is complete.
Town animals and Tasque Manager
If Chapter 2 recruits are present but Tasque Manager was not recruited, the animals in Castle Town become feral and circle the alley near the Great Door. This is a visible consequence of the missing Tasque Manager entry, not evidence that the other recruit counters are wrong.
Thrash Machine contribution
Chapter 2 recruits also contribute to the Thrash Machine used in the GIGA Queen battle. Recruitment therefore affects more than town decoration and optional activities; it also feeds into that battle-related feature.

Recruitment versus story characters and bosses
The title’s use of “every character” can be misleading because the RECRUITS menu is not a universal roster of everyone encountered in Chapter 2. The ten entries in this guide are enemy types tracked by the recruit mechanic. Story characters and bosses may appear in Castle Town through their own events or conditions, but they are not automatically added by reaching an enemy’s recruit tally.

Defeating an enemy after making it spare-able
An enemy being ready to spare does not mean the encounter is finished. Selecting FIGHT after the spare-ready state still produces a violent defeat and marks the recruitable enemy LOST. Select SPARE or PACIFY deliberately.
Counting battles instead of successful recruit results
The tally advances for successful sparing or pacifying, not merely for encountering a type. A battle that ends with a FIGHT victory contributes no recruit, even if the same enemy appeared earlier in the chapter.
Checking only the overall town state
Castle Town can change before every entry is complete. The Music Room needs nine specific entries, Seam’s CD Bagels need at least nine recruits, and Ch2 All Stars needs all ten. These milestones do not substitute for the per-type counter.
Assuming Mauswheel is optional for every reward
Mauswheel is excluded from the Music Room condition but included in the ten-entry dojo condition. Decide which unlock you want, then use the matching requirement rather than the vague phrase “all recruits.”

Ignoring the final warning near Queen’s Mansion
If Trashy appears near the end of Queen’s Mansion, return to the RECRUITS menu and identify the unfinished type. Trashy’s appearance means an eligible enemy remains; it does not identify which one or tell you how many encounters are left.
A practical completion checklist
Use this checklist alongside the Save Point menu. Mark an entry only when its counter shows complete:
- Ambyu-Lance: four successful nonviolent recruits.
- Poppup: three successful nonviolent recruits.
- Tasque: five successful nonviolent recruits.
- Werewire: six successful nonviolent recruits.
- Maus: three successful nonviolent recruits.
- Virovirokun: four successful nonviolent recruits.
- Swatchling: five successful nonviolent recruits.
- Werewerewire: one successful nonviolent recruit.
- Tasque Manager: one successful nonviolent recruit.
- Mauswheel: one successful nonviolent recruit.
After the last required result, check the menu again. If you want the Music Room, confirm the nine-entry condition; if you want Ch2 All Stars, confirm that Mauswheel is included and all ten entries are complete.

What carries into later chapters
Chapter 1 enemies are treated as recruited when Chapter 2 begins because the recruit mechanic is introduced in Chapter 2. If you continue into later chapters, completion-file behavior matters: the completion-file reference states that without a Chapter 2 Completion File, only Tasque, Werewire, Swatchling and Tasque Manager are recruited from Chapter 2 in later play.
This carryover note applies to continued files, not to the immediate Chapter 2 checklist. For a current Chapter 2 run, the RECRUITS menu remains the progress authority.
Best strategy for a first complete run
For the least risk, play Chapter 2 with recruitment as the primary objective. Resolve every eligible enemy nonviolently, check the menu at each Save Point, and investigate any unfinished counter before advancing past the late Queen’s Mansion warning. This approach sacrifices the stat increase associated with violent defeats for that enemy, but it preserves eligibility for every recruit entry and keeps the Castle Town unlock conditions available.
If you value the stat increase more than a complete town, you can defeat enemies violently, but plan on an incomplete recruit list in that file. The two outcomes are not equivalent routes: recruitment is permanent progress for the town and recruit menu, while a violent defeat is a deliberate trade-off that raises party stats for the remainder of the chapter and makes that enemy LOST.
